After film critic Gene Siskel asked her, "What do you know for sure?" Oprah Winfrey began writing the "What I Know for Sure" column in O, The Oprah Magazine. Saying that the question offered her a way to take "stock of her life", Oprah has penned one column a month over the last 14 years, years in which she retired The Oprah Winfrey Show (the highest-rated program of its kind in history), launched her own television network, became America's only black billionaire, was awarded an honorary degree from Harvard University and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, watched friends and colleagues come and go, lost beloved pets and adopted new ones, and celebrated milestone birthdays. Throughout it all, she's continued to offer her profound and inspiring words of wisdom in her "What I Know for Sure" column in O, The Oprah Magazine

Now, for the first time, these thoughtful gems have been revised, updated, and collected in What I Know for Sure, a beautiful book packed with insight and revelation from Oprah Winfrey. Organized by theme - joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity, and power - these essays offer a rare and powerful glimpse into the mind of one of the world's most extraordinary women. Candid, moving, exhilarating, uplifting, and dynamic, the words Oprah shares in What I Know for Sure shimmer with the sort of wisdom and truth that listeners will turn to again and again.

This book has become a staple in our household that I have gifted, and re-gifted to so many people!

If you are interested, the audio version of the book if read by Oprah herself, and gives you a different take on what she's emphasizing through each lesson.

I recommend you read this book one lesson at a time and keep re-reading it for a few days until you've caught on to what she's trying to teach. That way you can really internalize the book and enjoy it throughout the entire year.

I love it so much, that it has become a routine to read this book at least once a year and it's cheaper on Amazon then anywhere else I've been able to find so far.

This is Oprah’s "vanity" book- namely her talking about mostly superficial topics with some feel good things thrown in. No offense to people who liked this book, but the complexity of the ideas in this book are at a very low level (maybe that's always been the key to Oprah's success). This could’ve been condensed into a 2 page magazine article and it would’ve been just as substantive. Unless you enjoy paying money to feed Oprah without any discernible return, avoid this book. If you enjoy deeper ideas, this definitely is not your book.

Great Book. Great Timing.
I just got free from a very long, bad relationship. Packed my stuff and grabbed my dog. Rented a UHaul and headed across the country to start new again. (I am 63yrs). Bought this Audio book to listen to as I drive.
I felt all the old yuck stuff leave, and the new stuff flowing in... There is so much inspiration.
Perfect book for anyone wanting to find joy and a better look at living.
Will listen to it many more times. Sue

I bought this book after reading amazing reviews about it on Amazon. I really wanted to like this book, but it was just a bunch of small stories..........But I already read so many blogs/articles with similar stories that I just could not find anything new. I couldn't finish the book beyond the first 30% of it.

This book, I bought it as a gift for a loved one, but ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting. It's not just a book, but a keepsake-one that you can revisit again and again. It's beautifully made too, which seems to be an Oprah book trademark. It'll stand the test of time in both its physical craftsmanship as well as the jewels of contents within.

First of all, it's Oprah. Second of all, her beliefs, sentiments, vulnerability and achievements are what we all have inside of us in some fashion. Bottom line, we all hold the power. She in reality is not anymore special than you and me, it's the good intentions you put out into the world that elevates you to greatness. The book reminds you of this. I strongly recommend the audio version. Her narration is perfect.

This is such a great “cup filler” book! I was looking for a book to read at night before bed that would be a sort of non-religious devotional, and this fits the bill. So much of what she says hits home for me. The physical book itself is superb, as well. I love the woven style cover and the rough pages; it even comes with a ribbon bookmark attached to the spine. Beautiful cover-to-cover!

The advise seems too simplistic. I did appreciate her telling about her background. She seems to realize that she is not perfect and she is "speaking " to people who have many imperfections too. I admire her very much and know she helps people of all races and conditions. Her advice affects us all.

I love Oprah so I was looking forward to reading some inspiring words of wisdom. Unfortunately, this book didn't quite hit the mark. Don't get me wrong, Oprah's beautiful, warm personality still comes through but each chapter was a bit 'samey'. Basically, Oprah knows for sure that gratitude, being kind to others, the simple things in life and friends & family are the things that bring us the most pleasure. I guess I was hoping for something more insightful and, therefore, I feel a little disappointed.

I wouldn't know where to begin, at times i cried and I know that's because the spirit within connected to the message. Some of this i knew and needed reminding, other aspects were truly profound. I will read this many times throughout my life to remember, stay grounded, be silent, honour my inner spirit and listen to the self.. that much i know for sure!

I stumbled across this book, it lead me to realise all of the positive things already in my life. It made feel grateful for all the simple things that we take for granted and brought about a sense of contentment and calm. I haven't felt either for a while. It's well worth a read. Jayne x

I bought this book because I was looking for inspiration to pursue my purpose in life. But first I needed to know what my purpose from God was. I went to God for that through prayer. And I utilised this book as assurance that leaning on faith and working for your purpose is what we are all intended to do.

Definitely a must read and one that I will buy as a hard copy so I can keep it as reference for years to come.

This is a book I dip into when I’m feeling low or I’m struggling with some aspect of life and Oprah’s wise words never fail to give me some relief. Just randomly choosing a page seems to give me the right words at the right time. I will one day buy one for each of my daughters. A book everyone should own!

If your looking for a book to give you some inspiration and calm in a chaotic world this is for you. Good for the soul I would say Little chunks of wisdom that we all need now and then. Not superfluous or condescending just words from the heart.

I have always been a fan of Oprah Winfrey. When I saw this book I thought I knew what she was going to write about. But like reading the bible, every time you read a passage, a new revelation comes to you. This book has the same effect. In the process of reading I have re-read certain paragraphs and realised how it applied to me or how to apply it to my life. This is a book that I will definitely be reading over and over again. A wise person is a person who learns everyday from other people. Oprah, in writing this book has drawn on gems of wisdom gotten from other people who have touched her life.

There’s not much that this woman writes that I don’t believe in, the messages were on point, and yes I’ve got lots of enlightenment but in all honesty there was nothing that “stood out” that was totally different from what Oprah has said before. So this would make the perfect gift to someone who is moving into a different dimension and trying to find enlightenment and contentment in their lives.

Gentle and interesting - a collection of anecdotes that focus on living a better and more fulfilling life. It does not take long too read and is a great choice when you simply want to sit and reflect on your life and what you know for sure.

- keaton_bailey

This book contain series of recollections on Oprah's what-life-taught-me moments, easily digestible. The way it was written felt very personal, everything she says resonate with my whole being. I feel like I know her well now & we'd probably get along if we meet in real life lol What I Know for Sure: I'm gonna read this again.

I LOVED this book so much, that I am going to get print copies for myself, my daughter and my grand daughters, we are all fans of Oprah!
It's wonderful because one can read it in one go, or pick it up randomly. It's a comfort either way. Just get it, and you will see why you did, and you'll get it!

- joelle_peterson

This book is amazing now that I have read it I leave it on my bedside cabinet and randomly pick a chapter (as it’s written in short chapters) to read before bed. It’s so inspiring. I love it. I got it used so it has some slight wear but I don’t care because it feels good to recycle

- ramona_castillo

I loved the book and once I started to read it, I could not put it down. A lot of the information that Oprah shared through her insights, stories and experience resonated with me. Thank you Oprah for writing this book, for me it was a joy to read.

- reid_mendoza

This is a small hard backed book.

It is a collection of short insights where Oprah shares some of her life lessons. It is written in an easy to read, engaging format and being a collection of short reads makes it easy to dip in and out of.

A great book

O Magazine has been my favourite ever since its first issue was published, and What I Know For Sure by Oprah is among the best columns for inspiration. I'm glad they decided to publish this compilation!
