Programming the Microsoft Bot Framework: A Multiplatform Approach to Building Chatbots (Developer Reference)
Excellent book! I heartily recommend the book to anyone who wants to delve into this innovative technology from Microsoft, starting from the basics and reaching advanced topics such as the creation of personalized control channels or the integration with voice, mail, SMS and web services, as well as with Microsoft Cognitive Services, which empower modern applications based on Artificial Intelligence.

Unfortunately, two of the APIs on which the code examples included in the book are based, Wine.com and Groove, were retired by their respective creators after the book was sent to print. But this fact, in my humble opinion, does not impact at all the understanding of the underlying concepts, which are presented in a clear and didactic manner. Anyways, the author has rewritten all that sample source code using dummy data and the Spotify API (which is the Groove replacement, at the end of the day) and made it available from his blog.

Overall this book makes for good reading. But then why 3 stars?
Well for starters, the code in this book is outdated. You will feel the drag on your self-paced learning when you hit the chapters on Express.
The code in these chapters are geared more towards V3.x of Express. And when you set up Expressand generate your first web application you will literally tear your hair out trying to figure out why things don't work as described.

I compared the code in the book vs. the files generated in my Express application vs. the Express API documentation and realized that I was reading a book written for V3.x of Express whilst the one installed on my Surface Pro Tablet is V4.x . There are subtle and more pronounced differences between the two versions and instructions in this book for most part will not work with your Express application. Therefore here are some starters on some of the differences. For more details refer to this link - http://expressjs.com/guide/migrating-4.html
1. Starting the Express Web Application is completely different.
2. Editing .JADE view pages works best with Visual Studio (free version)
3. When starting with a JADE page, make up your mind on whether you're going to use [space] or [Tab] for indentation
4. Once you decide what your preference is, stick to it and DO NOT switch between [space] or [Tab] to avoid unpredictable behavior of the JADE engine!
5 If a certain JADE tag does not work, the first test would be to add a DOT in front of it to see if it works
6 Example: As shown in this book the inline script keyword does not work with v4.x, but script. works (notice a dot after the keyword here)
7 The good part is that variables, FOR LOOPS, IF-ELSE constructs work as shown in the book and you should not have major issues

With these workarounds, I've been successfully able to complete working on Chapter 06 of this book. As of now, I'm yet to try the mixins.

Anyone who cares about Broadway musical will find this, Sondheim's longest word yet as to his own lyrics and those of the people whose footsteps he followed, absolutely essential. For this, the work itself is worth a full five stars; the poor quality of the hardcover edition (the print seems to be on a dark silverish gray ink that rubs off like newsprint, the font is hard to read, and the content is poorly indexed) was the only think that made me downgrade this to four stars, and one can only hope that the paperback edition corrects these marring material deficiencies.

Sondheim's subtitle warns readers that the tone for this study of his and others' lyrics for the American musical theater will not be without its crankier points, and some reviewers have been unhappy at his ungenerousness exhibited here toward Ira Gershwin, Noel Coward, and particular his theatrical mentor (and beloved friend) Oscar Hammerstein II. If this were just a work by another theater scholar it might be harder to take the tendentiousness of the author's opinions; but since this is Stephen Sondheim, unquestionably the greatest American lyricist alive, the opinionated nature of the prose automatically becomes itself important since we find out here what he really thinks. His rules for crafting excellent lyrics make perfect sense in light of the shows he's created and from the social and theatrical milieux from which Sondheim comes. If his carping at Ira Gershwin for frequently inverting word order might seem unfair (since Gershwin came from a world where Yiddish-inflected syntax was a commonplace), it does tell you much about Sondheim's own wealthy and genteel Upper West Side and Williams College background that he would object. And it's such a pleasure to see the lyricists whom Sondheim greatly admires, from the expected (Cole Porter) to the perhaps more surprising (the greatly underappreciated Dorothy Fields).

The most fun in the book is finding out what Sondheim thinks of his own lyrics, and to get the stories behind how he crafted them. Many of the shows had such a difficult time in the making that he provides you with the lyrics of fascinating alternate songs for the shows (many of which have been recorded, since so many singers who work in musical theater are obsessive Sondheim fans). We also get portraits of many of the people with whom Sondheim worked (from Ethel Merman to Zero Mostel to Jason Alexander to Nathan Lane), with tantalizing throwaway comments about them. We can only wait for the promised sequel, with lyrics from his shows from SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE onward--and we can only hope the next book comes in better material shape from the publisher.

Is there anyone in the world who doesn't like Louis L'Amour? This was a book that had slipped through my fingers in the past. All the others have been read. This one is unique for L'Amour due to it being set in the 12th century. It's am amazing book with the main character, Kerbouchard, traveling and increasing the readers' information about the world in that time. The beginning of the book has maps, so the reader can look to see what has changed and not just read about the adventures. The adventures are fantastically written. The characters are interesting. And, if that isn't enough, there is a note from L'Amour at the end of the book stating why he wrote the book. There is a list of ancient sites that are still standing. It was interesting to go to Google and search for each of those sites. As well travelled as I am, these sites were a mystery to me. Imagine putting an entire long book together about these sites! It is astonishing. The book is filled with adventure, too.The battles and information about ancient weapons was great. I loved this book, and it's an old one. *This was a public library book.*

Private Games
Private Games
I picked up Private Games after reading most of Patterson's other books and in fact enjoying the Private series. What I quickly found is that the original Private book was by far the best and the rest have been sort of ok but not great knock-offs of the original.

This book is not surprisingly about a man who attempts and is succesful in creating havoc at the upcoming London Olympic games. Without giving away too much of the plot I will say that he does have a lot of help in the form of some bad individuals he had met in a previous NATO protection life. Peter Knight--who is employed by Private in London--is engaged to help bring down this man who calls himiself by an obscure Greek god's name--Cronus. In addition to Knight's problems stopping further death at the games, he has young twins who keep him on his toes and are in fact an interesting sub-plot addition to the story. A young newspaper reproter named Karen Pope is brought into the story by no doing of her own as Cronus continues to send her warnings of impending death and doom at the games. The book ends in what I would call very typical fashion with a duel to the end and a victor. I thought the book was ok but not great. It was not as fast paced as most Patterson thrillers and lacked a certain bite found in most of his other books.
Zane Grey Theater: Season 2
Zane Grey Theater: Season 2
Almost five years after VCI released the complete first season of Zane Grey Theater on DVD, Timeless Media has stepped up to offer fans the second season of this great western anthology series hosted by Dick Powell. And what a season it is! The 28 episodes feature Hollywood legends like Barbara Stanwyck, Claudette Colbert, Robert Ryan, Howard Keel and Hedy Lamarr, as well as future television stars like Michael Landon, Dan Blocker, Pernell Roberts, James Drury, and DeForest Kelley.

As originally aired, the season also included the pilot for the popular television series "The Rifleman", here presented as "The Sharpshooter" (episode 2.21). Due to legal complications, this episode will NOT be included on the four-disc set. That's disappointing ... but there are still enough treasures here to qualify as five-star, "must-see" viewing.

Thank you, Timeless Media! Here's hoping you won't make us wait another 5 years before you release Zane Grey Theater, Season Three!

Normally, I try to refrain from writing negative reviews about anyone or anything. However, this specific order cannot go unnoticed. I ordered this volume a few days ago and it came earlier today. However, the whole front cover was torn off. I am a collector and many people who have manga want to display them in the perfect condition that they are SUPPOSED to come in. The fact that under the condition it said "new" and nowhere did it say anything about the product being damaged. I was severely disappointed. Please be more diligent in the future when packing and shipping items to customers.

This is an excellent museum book full of exquisite images of their paintings with the unique addition that those that are gilded being printed with gold ink. Now those gilded icons & paintings have the warm, golden glow the artist intended.
Within it's pages & on it's white, sized pages are examples of some of the finest examples of western art. This is a book to savor slowly, enjoying each detail of these exquisite works of art.

This is a BIG, HEAVY BOOK, not for causal reading on your lap, you will want a sturdy table to hold this as you enjoy it's beautiful images of fine art with brief descriptions of each one though some works are given their own more extensive description of the art & the artist.

Bleach, Vol. 35
Bleach, Vol. 35
After finishing off Szayelaporro, Captain Kurotsuchi goes about exploring the Espada scientist's laboratory and seeing to the healing of Ichigo and Nemu. Meanwhile Captain Kenpatchi fights against the fifth Espada Nnoitora but while these battles rage Aizen begins to put his plans in motion with his remaining forces.

This thirty-fifth volume of the `Bleach' manga is another very entertaining instalment of the manga. The fight between Kenpatchi and Nnoitora is arguably one of, if not the, best duel in the entirety of the Hueco Mundo arc. The volume also explains the true reason that Aizen kidnapped Orihime and shows the Soul Reapers haven't been sitting around idly either.

This was a very entertaining volume and well worth a full five stars. The next volume is the `Turn Back the Pendulum' flashback arc which is one my favourite arcs in the entire series and I am very much looking forward to it.

I cannot find a fix to this online. My scanner got replaced with a new one by the manufacturer but the same problem persists. Scanner remains on. Connection drops. I use my scanner with Lightspeed POS on iPad Pro 12. The issue gets resolved temporarily if i turn the scanner off and back on. I have other scanners I use by Socket Mobile and they work great. I hope someone has a solution to this issue. My Amazon return window has already closed in July, 2019. Help!
Prevention Tone Up in 15 DVD: 15-Minute Workouts to Lose Weight, Get Fit, and Strengthen Your Total Body
Prevention Tone Up in 15 DVD: 15-Minute Workouts to Lose Weight, Get Fit, and Strengthen Your Total Body
I looked forward to getting this workout DVD, as I am a home workout enthusiast and new DVD releases are few and far between these days. I haven't even done all of these, but I wanted to put my review out there to let others know that if they have a workout DVD collection, they do not need this! My biggest issue with these workouts is that they are incomplete. The first total body toning workout did not include a warm up, cool down or stretch. The workout ended abruptly after doing jumping jacks so I had to add on my own cool down and stretch after it was over. The instructor also worked a little too fast on some of the strength moves. I expected these workouts to be good for days when I am pressed for time, but now I have to add on my own warm up and cool down, making them longer than the 15 minutes. At this price point, separate warm up and cool down chapters could've been added to the DVD. The DVD is falsely advertised as having complete 15-minute workouts. After doing the total body workout, I previewed the others. None had an efficient warm up and once again, there was no cool down or stretch at the end. The so-called dance workout was incredibly cheesy, and the kickbox also looks pretty lame. The instructor is a bit annoying and the background music is rather low and not very good. This is what I expect from a low budget DVD, but not from one at this price point. I have never returned a workout DVD, but this one might be the first.

I'm download the app via fire stick and it keeps giving me an activation code, says type in fitfusion.com/activate and it keep re-directing me. 1) it's a 7 day free trial and I've already spent 2 days trying to log into the system. Sent an email to their technical team but it might be 3 more days before I hear back. So long story short I'm could get charge before I even see if the app works or if they have content that works for me. I'm already over trying this.

LI&HI Easy Eggwich Microwave Egg Cooker, Red and clear
LI&HI Easy Eggwich Microwave Egg Cooker, Red and clear
I'm not sure why people are complaining. Yeah, it arrived... The box looked like it was left out in the rain but everything was inside that was supposed to be.

If you really need instructions, you are better off going to a drive thru.

I bought mine because I love egg McMuffin a from McDonalds but they stopped serving all day breakfast because of the 'Rona.

McDonald's McMuffin eggs are fried on the bottom and steamed on top. Do I butter the bottom, put 1 egg in, scramble the yolk only, not the white part. If you don't scramble the yolk, it will explode in the microwave. Then 1/2 teaspoon of water on top of the egg. Close the lid and nuke it up for around 45 seconds.

Before opening the lid of the egg cooker, turn it sideways over the sink to drain off any excess water. Nuke a sausage party, toast an English muffin, butter it and Stack your sausage, cheese and egg on it then put the top on. Instant McMuffin.

Take 3 seconds to wash it out and it's ready for next time.

Prep time: depends on your toaster.
Lakrids 1 Sweet Licorice
Lakrids 1 Sweet Licorice
For my palate Panda plain black licorice is still the best. While Lakrids beats drugstore brands, such as Twizzlers and Red Vines, in both quality and flavor, I didn't find Lakrids superior to the Australian-style licorice also ordinarily sold in drugstores.

Arriving on schedule from Amazon, the contents of the jar I received looked and tasted fresh -- no complaints there -- but I find the texture overly tarry. Perhaps that's due to the rice flour that's used instead of wheat, but I'm only guessing.

So, for those who must remain gluten free, Lakrids might be just fine. From my perspective, however, especially considering the steep price, I won't buy Lakrids licorice in the future.
