Bob Marley comes from an impoverished country for the locals anyway (Jamaica) that his music portrays and is very heart felt and great to listen to while relaxing or going for a spin. This just represent another classic must have that makes me wish I would of bought the whole CD since I did buy 3 songs anyway :) GREAT ARTIST, GREAT MUSIC!!
Relentless: A Novel
Relentless: A Novel
I'm beginning to wonder if Dean Koontz had a life-changing event that forced him to alter his writing style. Or, I'm even half-tempted to believe that he is farming out ideas and having someone else write for him. Relentless is another book in a fairly consistent string of so-so efforts.

The book started well and drew me in pretty quickly. The plot was interesting if not very believable. I liked the characters of Cubby and Penny, although they are the typical ultra-good characters with no bad traits. The character of Milo just annoyed me. I found his superior intelligence and language to be quite unbelievable. I realize that there are child geniuses, but no 6-year old would actually talk like that. If he were 9 or 10, it would have been much more believable.

Other secondary characters were paper thin with ridiculous names (example: Cubby's agent Hud Jacklight). And don't get me started on the evil-doers. Koontz's bad guys are the exact opposite of his good characters. Shearman Waxx (another ridiculous name) is pure evil, almost comically.

There are about 20 pages in the middle of the book that are vintage Koontz. Gruesome murders, hopelessness, terror, incredible detail... Going with the explanation that Koontz has others write his stuff, I would guess that he actually wrote these pages. It's this section of the book that makes me give this book 3 stars vs. 2 stars.

Again with the lame endings, Dean? The book comes to an abrupt and less than satisfying end. There's no closure on why the evil doers are doing what they do. And then he uses the book title to make it all sappy and warm and fuzzy.

I used to run to the book store as soon as Dean Koontz published a book. I would read it quickly and be sad when I finished it. Now I wait for the book to be available at the library, and I'm happy I finished the book because I can start something else.

The Apocalypse Watch
The Apocalypse Watch
The Apocalypse watch is great!--to make fun of. In this yarn that drags us into the depths of a world in which the CIA HQ is sometimes in Langley, and sometimes in Britain, all armed guards are mentally retarded, the script is riddled with errors only a complete idiot could miss in the proofread, and there are enough continuity errors to make a mathemitician explode. The story has all of the feel of a perfectly good story that was spliced and the scenes played in random order right after another. For instance, one moment the new main character (you'll find out what i mean if you watch it) is crying, and the next moment he's doing his flashy-eyed-cute pose. Terrible. Now, my friend Quinn Woodhouse would like to give his opinion.

A movie where a main character can be replaced by his brother should be shot out of a cannon and punch the face of the moon. when you combine nazis with bad story, anything can happen. i would rate this film with a ten in make-fun-of-ability. this film also defies physics, where a person can drive a car from the czech republic to britain. (evidently there is a bridge connecting britain and the mainland). the axiom of crisis management is to never panic, and these people never do--even when they're being shot at.
Pop Goes the Weasel (Alex Cross Book 5)
Pop Goes the Weasel (Alex Cross Book 5)
Not as good as "Along Came A Spider" or "Kiss the Girls", but it's a lot better than "Cat & Mouse". Patterson does manage to redeem himself and the Alex Cross series in this next installment, "Pop Goes The Weasel".

The new killer, Geoffrey Shafer, is indeed one of the most terrifying villains since Casanova and Soneji. He takes scariness to a whole new level and really gives Alex a hard time. The romance between Alex and Christine is just beautiful in this novel. I love how they care for each other and love each other. I'm glad that they are getting married. And I know I said this before, but I freaking love Alex's kids in this series. So adorable and cute. And you got to love Nana Mama (the only person who can get away with arguing with Alex and making him angry). For once (even if it is for only the beginning and middle of the story), I'm happy that things are settling down.

But then there are the problems that I have with this story. There are too many sub-plots going on. I mean, the new character, Patsy Hampton, she doesn't fit into this story at all. Even as I character I don't care for her, because I'm still trying to figure out why she is even in this story. There is also a story-plot that involves Geoffrey being involved with three other killers, who call themselves the "Four Horsemen" (which he is one of them). I felt like Patterson could have done more with all four of these killers instead of just mentioning them throughout the story and only having them appear together once, which is the ending. Also, Christine's kidnapping went on for "way" to long in this story and it also feels like a cliché. And while I do kinda like the ending, I felt like Patterson could have done so much better.

"Pop Goes The Weasel" is an okay novel and it does redeem Patterson for his work on "Cat & Mouse", but it doesn't hold up for what made "Along Came A Spider", "Kiss the Girls", and "Jack & Jill" so good. The beginning and most of the middle really had me going, but it is the final part of the story that didn't sit well with me. If you are a fan of the Alex Cross series, then maybe you might like this one.
Runaway Jury [Blu-ray]
Runaway Jury [Blu-ray]
I admit that watching this film Runaway Jury piqued my interest to watch to see how others might see potential jury events even if fictional influenced by some time especially less than 4 weeks ago when I found out that I was selected to potentially be considered for jury duty within the next 3 days. I had also been selected for jury duty in both 2013 and 2016 and I am understanding that it is my duty as an American born citizen to do jury duty. I admit that I have yet to be on jury duty for the second day after being selected and I was curious to see how it is portrayed for those selected/chosen to do their second day Hollywood style. Of course, even I understand that jury duty in the way it is portrayed in this film is completely different in real life. However, it was fascinating to see the characters of juror Nick Easter (John Cusack) and Marlee (Rachel Weisz) act completely different from what is initially expected in the film of trial that involves prominent lawyers Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman), Lawrence Greene (Jeremy Priven), Wendell Rohr (Dustin Hoffman) and judge Frederick Harkin (Bruce McGill) and how they handle a trial involving a workplace shooting. Of course more actors and actresses are featured in this film and this film plays with the controversial debate of gun companies and workplace shootings. I intuitively and logically understand that some of the most popular, well liked, andor highly regarded people take a public stand right out the gate on how they feel about certain gun control issues even as they pertain to workplace shootings. However, I admit that the reason why I am tip-toeing around publicly taking a side on if gun companies/businesses are to be held responsible in this online amazon review is because I need to give myself more time to research both sides of the debate in order to more intelligently/wisely make a more informed decision (including looking up more research before I even secretly take a side pertaining to gun control involving a tragic workplace incident in Virginia Beach Virginia less than 2 months ago at the time of this July 2019 writing that was temporarily covered all over national news outlets).

The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis (January 02,2008)
The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis (January 02,2008)
The other reviews are of C.S. Lewis's book "The Last Battle." If you are not familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia, then it might be helpful to read those reviews. If you're familiar with the series, read on to hear what we think about the radio dramas!
We own all of Focus on the Family's Narnia Dramas that have been published to date (Sept 2002, and the Last Battle is next/last to be published in Oct 2002). We LOVE them all! Our son is 3 yrs old, and he will sit through almost an entire CD (all of the dramas are 2-3 CDs each), listening to the adventure! It's a great way to get him involved in the world of Narnia, and a wonderful alternative to T.V. One of the things that my husband and I enjoy about the series is that it is also captivating to adults. The actors are all British (as was C.S. Lewis), with an introduction by Douglas Gresham, Lewis's stepson. The actors maintain their roles throughout the series; for instance, the actor who plays the role of Eustace in "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is the same actor who plays that role in "The Silver Chair;" the actor who plays the role of Aslan is the same in all the dramas. In a presentation that has many characters, it's helpful to be able to recognize the voices from one CD to the next.
We HIGHLY recommend all the CDs in this series. They're a great way to pass the time on car trips, and a wonderful way to encourage a child's (or an adult's!) imagination. They are wholesome, and have a clear message that good will prevail over evil, and that love and forgiveness are qualities to be cherished. Buy the whole series!
Golden Buddha (The Oregon Files Book 1)
Golden Buddha (The Oregon Files Book 1)
I have read most of Cusslers Dirk Pitt books and decided to start on the Oregon Series. I looked over the reviews for the 1st and 2nd books in the series. For both books the 1-3 star reviews outweighed all others. Hint! I started with book 3 and finished the series. I decided to take a chance on Golden Budda. I don't know who wrote this book but it wasn't Cussler.

Way to many characters called operatives with little or no description. I'd go as far as to say there were more operators than an old Bell South switchboard. If I hadn't read later books in the series I would have never known what was going on, who was who or finished the book.
Many of the chapters had multiple sub chapters causing me to pause and figure out what country I just got transferred to.
The book was also filled with useless filler info.

I am not a great book reviewer but this book through me for a loop. I never thought a Cussler book could be this bad. Gave it 2 stars because I am a Cussler fan. If you must read it, buy used paperback for a few dollars.

Note: Book 3 and on are great.
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks (2011-08-02)
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks (2011-08-02)
I strongly believe that Safe Haven is a good novel. It is well worth the money. One of the reasons why I enjoyed this novel was because it was full of suspense. Each chapter was about something different. Its the type of book that keeps you up late because you want to keep reading to see what happens. While it was full of suspense, it was also full of emotions. Another reason why I think this book is good is because it makes you go through different emotions while reading it. While feeling happy about how Kate’s life is going, it also makes you feel worried and shocked. But still amazed as to how good the book is coming to be. Also, the novel is well developed. From the exposition to the resolution, the book is beautifully written. The author does not leave a single detail out about Kate’s past life. But the ending is predictable, or maybe its because I have read more books and seen movies by Nicholas Sparks. Finally, this was a touching love story, as are all by Nicholas Sparks. It was a long novel about a women who learns to love again, even after shes been physically and mentally hurt. Which I think is a relatable situation to some women out there. These are a few of the reasons why I really like “Safe Haven” by Nicholas Sparks, all in all, its a well developed novel. Definitely recommend it.
The Last Shepherd
The Last Shepherd
I have read all of Wilber Smith's books over many, many years.
As a committed Christian this one took my eye at once. I couldn’t put it down and read it almost in one sitting.

The character of Titus is fictional but completely believable who gives a narration of the life and times of Christ, giving an understanding of Roman rule and the corruptness of the Pharisees and high priests of the Jewish people. This ultimately led to the capture with false accusations about Jesus and had him crucified on a wooden cross.

A wonderful book for both believers and non-believers alike. Download it now is my advice and enjoy the usual Wilber Smith historical novel which is based on true facts.

Mary Higgins Clark - Double Vision [DVD] [2004]
Mary Higgins Clark - Double Vision [DVD] [2004]
This movie is adapted from a short story by Mary Higgins Clark. The writers didn't stay with the story other than the names and the premise of psychic twins. Which is really too bad as the short story had some real suspense in it.
This is a movie you watch because you are a fan of the actors. If you can get a copy cheaply then add to your collection or watch it to see how the actors have developed over the years.
Naveen Andrews does okay with Jimmy, but because the script was changed, his character just seems angry and hysterical. We don't get to see why Lisa is with this guy.. Christopher Lee looks confused during his time in the movie, again why is Lisa with this guy?
Kim Cattrell has her strengths but not in this movie. As the twins Lisa and Caroline she simpers or is thoughtless. Lisa is the typical bad girl who drives guys to jealous rage. Caroline the typical good girl drawn into Lisa's bad girl life. Some of the scenes were just there to pad the story and give Kim Cattrell an excuse to wear a bathing suit.
Two nice bits involving a scene from Shakespeare and some Tai Chi, both from Naveen Andrews. Though these pieces are good they just don't fit into the script. If the producers had stayed with the original story these pieces would have illustrated the character beautifully. Here they just padding. This movie could have been good but the padding just takes precedence over the story. If you like really bad movies this is okay even in that category.
Aspire to the Heavens
Aspire to the Heavens
If you are like me, you have often wondered how our most talented novelists would see important historical characters. Gore Vidal has whetted our appetite with his novels about the first hundred years of the United States. In Aspire to the Heavens, talented mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark makes George Washington come alive as a simple man with many personal challenges in his life. Although I was familiar with the material in this book, Ms. Clark did a wonderful job of both making it more interesting and accessible by making his life into a personally focused biographical novel. As a result, I got a lot of new perspectives on my own life that I will benefit from for many years to come.
The book's title alludes to a promise that George Washington's mother asked for and received from him. She wanted him to always do his utmost. In her family, that had meant "Aspire to the Heavens." He took on that promise with her encouragement. Out of his own character, though, he decided to be the most decent man he could possibly be. That latter promise to himself is the one that this book focuses on.
The form of this book is to describe George Washington through the lens of his personal life, rather than his public accomplishments. The style reads more as though it is a novel rather than a biography, and there is certainly some literary license in the ascriptions of motives and personal thoughts. Yet, these devices work well as long as you remember not to take them too seriously and literally.
Although Washington will always seem larger than life to all Americans, he was a man who had many setbacks in his own life. Before the Revolutionary War, he was certainly not considered to be the great man most now believe him to have been.
Life was hard as a youngster. His father died when he was fairly young, and his mother carried a whip to help assert her authority over him and his siblings. She did not keep a very attractive household, which young George resented. Although she loved her son, she put him down verbally at every opportunity. Her opposition to his desire for an ocean-going career was a fortunate one for the United States and democracies everywhere, but a bitter disappointment to him at the time. George sought escape from her whenever possible, especially to the home of his half-brother at Mount Vernon (which he would eventually inherit and buy out from his sister-in-law).
An early friendship with the Fairfax family led to a long relationship with the first and greatest love of Washington's life, Sally Fairfax, his proposal to her similar-appearing sister (which was refused), as well as his interest in surveying as a career.
His mother constantly tried to discourage his military career, and complained bitterly about the risks he was taking during the colonial campaigns before the Revolutionary War. She blamed the early death of George's favorite half-brother on war-related illnesses.
It is fun to read Martha Washington referred to by her pet name of "Patsy" throughout the book. You will also read here a sensitive interpretation of Washington's frustrations as a step-father and in securing Patsy's love and attention. As you may know, the story ends tragically as both step-children die at fairly young while, while the Washingtons never have children of their own. Their step-daughter asks them to adopt two of her children after her husband dies, whom the Washingtons' raise.
The book's structure is an interesting one. The main historical thread is the aftermath of John Adams's inauguration and the Washingtons' trimphant return to Mount Vernon to farm. This development is interspaced with flashbacks of key moments in the lives of both George and Patsy.
After you have finished enjoying the book, I suggest that you evaluate your own life from the perspective of how you will be remembered as a family member and as a friend. Many people focus too much on their careers and public accomplishments. This book can help you assess the balance you have achieved in your life. All of us can learn from how George Washington came to keep silent when something upset him rather than creating a fuss that would have hurt his closest relationships. He was a fine family man and friend, as a result, as well as an inspiring, steady leader.
Show loving support for all those you care about . . . always!

AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to Micro B Charger Cable (2 Pack), 6 feet, Black
If like me you have a somewhat venerable Kindle, then you may have noticed it doesn't always charge as well as it did - I realised that it wasn't the Kindle or the adaptor plug but that the cable supplied had gradually developed a fault - probably due to the very small wires that make up this type of cable. So instead of replacing your Kindle or the "wall" adaptor, maybe you just need to replace the cable. This one fit both the Kindle and the adaptor plug and worked fine - so don't be quick to cast off the more expensive elements, always try and see if the recharging light on the Kindle goes off when you "waggle" the cable around. If so, one of these will work fine - it also seems sturdier where the cable meets the "end bits" than the original one did

I am shocked these bags have such high stars. The bags are a great size BUT it will likely tempt people to throw more in than they are able to handle. These bags are thinner than cheap sheets at Big Lots. No exaggeration.

They asked me to review the thickness, value and sheerness of the bags. There is no thickness and sheerness is code for cheap and thin. Think cheesecloth. Value? I'd rather pay a little extra for some quality material.

I purchased them for screen printing and HTV but I am concerned the ink and vinyl will seep right through the bag and onto the blowout sheet in the middle of the bag.
I plan to keep and hopefully use them but will not buy again. Yes, they are a great size but spend the extra for nice thick(er) material.

I purchased this book for my grand-daughter, she had checked it out at the local library and was unable to finsh it before it had to be turned in (I had rechecked it out three times). I have been trying to encourage her to read and she told me was on chapter six when she had to finally turn it in, so when I found it on Amazon.com I thought it would be a nice surprise for her to have it as her own, she loved it and has been reading it again.

I just purchased a new 2020 Hyundai Tucson. The difference in the price from the model I bought and the model that has wireless charging is $3000. I decided that getting this item was a better deal.

This works perfectly. It is short enough and the angles are good enough where the phone lays flat and I can listen to my music, podcasts, etc., through the car speaker system with no problem. I have to say that I am very happy that I got two for the price of one. We are coming up on the legendary Las Vegas summer, and one of them has to live in the car. If it lasts through the summer, I may update the review. In fact, I will update the review either way. But if it does last through the summer I will be jumping for joy!
Batman: R.I.P. (Batman by Grant Morrison series Book 4)
Batman: R.I.P. (Batman by Grant Morrison series Book 4)
First off, this is not a standalone book; it seems you need to have read Batman and Son, The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul, and The Black Glove in order to have a chance of understanding the plot. If, like me, you read this book without having read the others, you'll have a hard time making sense of several key plot elements - and this is exacerbated by the jump-cutting style of narration employed by writer Grant Morrison.

The story is about the Black Glove organization, who have declared war on Batman, know his real identity and are intent on destroying the Caped Crusader and the man beneath the mask for good, enlisting the Joker for help. To this end, they are led by a man named Dr. Simon Hurt, who claims to actually be Dr. Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father who apparently staged his death, and their plan is to target Bruce Wayne/Batman psychologically while also ruining his and his family's reputation in public. With the Batman's mind on the precipice of insanity following the initial success of the Black Glove's plan, his psychotic alter ego called The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh is triggered, proceeding to seek revenge with the help of his allies and reveal the true identity of the man claiming to be his father.

While it works as a fascinating study of Batman's mind and willpower, and the Joker's insight on the Black Glove is remarkable, seeing them as a bunch of ignorant upstarts clueless about what they're getting into, the biggest problem with the book is the lack of smooth transitions. The story jumps abruptly from scene to scene, disorienting the viewer and leaving them with a LOT of blanks to fill on their own. The ending is also unsatisfactory with regards to the identity of the main villain and Batman's fate.

In conclusion, despite the issues with the narrative style and the ending, this is an excellent character study of Batman and the extent to which he goes to protect himself from attacks both physical as well as psychological. It is a book I would recommend to readers - assuming of course that they have read the previous books in this story arc!
NETGEAR Nighthawk M1 MR1100 Mobile Hotspot Router for AT&T (Renewed)
NETGEAR Nighthawk M1 MR1100 Mobile Hotspot Router for AT&T (Renewed)
Product was easy to use.

Note that this did NOT come with the quick setup guide or install guide, but those are easy to find online.

The battery, back cover, and charge cable all appeared new.

The unit is used, but in good shape, and appears to be fully functional.

Note that I did not do my research; this uses a Micro SIM, and I had a Nano SIM. A quick trip to Dollar General for a $1 bring your own SIM package from one of the prepaid providers allowed me to use my existing SIM in the SIM slot.

Also, a bit of advice - take a pic of the info under the battery before you install the battery, so you don't have to take the battery out to get the wifi network password like I did. You'll need to be connected to the device by Wifi to do the setup, so you'll need the default network password. But if you forget - the device will draw power from the power cord with the battery out.

I paid a little more than I wanted to pay to upgrade my wireless, but without wired internet available to me, this is my best option.

I am using AT&T on an old unlimited plan that allows hotspot devices, so it's effective for us.

My signal strength is around -99dBm, and I'm getting around 45 Mbps Down and 8 Mbps up. I'm roughly 2.5 miles from the closest AT&T tower.

I stood this network up alongside my other device, the ZTE MF279, and it's showing -101 dBM, and around 18 Mbps Down, and 2 Mbps up - connected to the same network, plan, and tower.

So far, I am pleased. I also really like the form factor and sturdiness of the Nighthawk as compared to the MF279; it's more compact, and feels sturdier in hand than the other one - and it really holds the battery securely, which is nice when the device is actually MOBILE.

I'll update as I get more experience with it. I have bought the Netgear MIMO flat panel antenna to use with this device, if needed, as well as an external Yagi antenna; we'll see what improvement I am able to get...

Well, I certainly learned my lesson!! I was a bit tight on funds and the reviews were so good that I thought I'd stray from the FINNSKA I'd spent decades to find and then decades enjoying. BIG mistake, sorry guys.
- No significant flavor AT ALL (I know the difference between the overpowering artificial flavor versus the more subtle and deep richness of real black licorace; that was not the problem...to be generous, there was but a WISP of flavor.)
- Disgraceful texture - a plastic-like dry sort of rubberyness that actually shocked me.
- Density was NOT bad, but that's where ANY positive began and ended for me...

Needless to say I IMMEDIATELY bit the bullet (and this time, I don't mean this licorace) and ordered my FINNSKA 8.8 LB BAG which arrived today, instantly dipped in and....aaaaah, black licorace HEAVEN!

(Not pandering, honest, but THANK HEAVENS FOR AMAZON!! LOL)

I have bought a lot of these types of sets from this brand but for some reason, most of the ones in this set fall down. My daughters cannot get them to stand up straight. I have tried to manipulate the legs to assist, but it only works for a few seconds. We are very disappointed. We spend hours playing with all of the others and these guys just lay around...nobody wants to play with "sick" animals. Maybe we got a bad batch.

Review edit: After the company saw I was disappointed in my animals that were not standing up they quickly sent me a new batch. These all stand up great and the customer service experience was amazing!
