Beyond Candlesticks: New Japanese Charting Techniques Revealed (Wiley Finance Book 56)
Steve Nison's Candlestick books are essential reading for any trader and give a great overview of Candlestick trading patterns and how to apply them beyond the very basic "this is a doji: trade it." This book is accessible and easy to read for beginners, who should be able to delve into this and understand the concepts easily without further research / headbanging / frustration.
The Fashion Conspiracy: A Remarkable Journey Through the Empires of Fashion
The Fashion Conspiracy: A Remarkable Journey Through the Empires of Fashion
Witty, entertaining, interesting interviews with famous fashion designers and anecdotes from their lives. Its style reminded me of a well-written article in The Times. As the subtitle suggests, the focus of the book is on premium brands, and there are a lot of "old money" vs "new money" comparisons. The clientele of these brands receives almost as much attention as the designers themselves (priceless quote: "They're the best-dressed children in New York, though one of them, who is only two, has already refused to wear smocking" - one of the women about her grandchildren). This book is probably more of a study in anthropology than in fashion, but there is a lot of fashion in it too.

I wonder what Nicolas Coleridge, godfather to Cara Delevingne, would say about the modern state of the fashion industry - fashion blogs, social media and e-commerce. Maybe he could write a book about that. I'd buy it.

The Butler: A Witness to History
The Butler: A Witness to History
I can see three, no...four great ideas for non-fiction books in this one book. One could be about the reporter Wil Haygood's conception of his idea for the article that started all this and his quest to find Eugene Allen. The second could be Eugene Allen's story itself. The third could be about the history of African Americans in cinema (I'm sure books like this already exist, but let Mr. Haygood have a go at it...he's got some promising stuff in this book here.) And finally, the fourth book could b about the making of "The Butler" and all the film-making challenges that came with it. All of these are fascinating stories that I'd like to know more about. That being said, this is still a great book. But it's just too short. I have a hunch that this audio book is abridged, but regardless, I feel that Mr. Haygood has so much more material which could be put to good use...I mean, how much could they have cut out for this abridgement? One final thing I must comment on is this book's forward, written by Lee Daniels, the director of the film adaptation of Eugene Allen's life. Normally I do not like forwards. This is an exception. Mr. Daniels explains to the reading audience why he made the changes he did that caused Lee Daniels' The Butler to deviate so much from Eugene Allen's life. Knowing what his mindset was and the story he wanted to tell, I can respect his directing decisions in that film much more and I make an exception and appreciate this forward. But as for the book itself, it's an amazing story told by a great writer. Mr. Eugene Allen is an unsung figure in American history and I thank Mr. Wil Haygood for sharing his story with the world. This is a must-read. It's just too short. But nevertheless, enjoy.
This Christmas
This Christmas
This woman is phenomenal! After all these years, she still manages to be fresh and surprising in both subtle and obvious ways. I love her rendition of Silent Night. True, it is my all-time favorite carol and there is but one Aretha Franklin, so I did not expect to be disappointed. And I wasn't because ReRe makes this song go down like a warm glass of brandy on a cold winter night. It's like your favorite blanket freshly washed and still warm and fragrant from the dryer. Maybe it's me but it seemed a personal statement for her, and the gorgeous piano work didn't hurt. Ave Maria left me wishing for what could've been! That said, I personally would like to see her tackle more European classical music as she seems to enjoy it. Imagine a whole album of Aretha's arias, that would be awesome!!

This is a great xmas album for grown folks, and I like that a lot. It's an asset to any Aretha collection or xmas collection. No phony sugary gloss. Great track selection although I do think Donny Hathaway's This Christmas should be put to bed now: everybody and his mother have done that song! If I hear one more version I'll scream.

There's not much more one can say about Louis Armstrong. He's arguably the best American musician ever. This CD provides a good sample of some of his work from the early 1930s. And since these songs were recorded in the early 1930s, the quality is relative to the time period. There's nothing unlistenable, just don't expect 21st century fidelity from them (they are very consistent in their quality, so there are no awkward transitions from high hiss to low noise such that a history of Armstrong would inevitably have to have). Still, the quality does not detract from the performances and the songs. Louis Armstrong's energy and showmanship shine through on each track. This is arguably Armstrong at his best (though some will vie that the "Hot 5" era was superior); it's at least a very high point for Armstrong. This is also evident in his speaking during the musical sections. He lets loose one of his famous lines, "I'm ready, I'm ready, so help me I'm ready" on "Chinatown, My Chinatown". One gets an idea why audiences at the time flipped for Armstrong-isms such as this.
Many of the songs will be very familiar even to those with no knowledge of the music of the 1930s. "Georgia On My Mind", "I Got Rhythm", and "All Of Me" are still often-heard standards even today.
The only complaint about the CD has nothing to do with the quality or performances; in fact, it has nothing to do with Armstrong in any way. Why put the alternate takes of "Stardust" and "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" one right after the other? Both versions of both songs are great, but why not split them up to limit repetitive listening?
And, on a more personal note: I'm forever grateful to the Woody Allen movie "Stardust Memories" for making me want to track down one of the versions of "Stardust" included here (though some critics say the song was misused in that film). If I hadn't seen that movie and been entranced by Louis Armstrong's "Stardust" I would not have discovered Armstrong's music as early in my life as I did. For anyone wanting to discover Armstrong, this CD is one potential great starting point.
Freewheelin' Bob Dylan

This sounds GREAT on the new 180 gram Mono vinyl. I have this album on a stereo cd and it's pretty good. I also owned it back in the 1960s vinyl days probably on a stereo record but this new MONO pressing blew me away with it's body, soul and clarity. It sounds FANTASTIC on vinyl... and the iconic artwork is wonderful (R.I.P. Suze Rotolo)... and guess what? There be a whole lot of liner notes on the other side of the cover that you can actually READ.. yeah, you heard me.. you can read this stuff without the aid of one of those jeweller's eye-pieces that you need to peruse the bacteria-size notes in a cd. It's all win-win with this vinyl.. of course, if you don't like Dylan or his music then don't bother... but if you're serious about the man then buy this on vinyl along with "Bringing It All Back Home". "Highway 61" and "Blonde.." .. you gotta have that stuff on vinyl, man.. there is no other way. You should already have the stereo cd box set anyway but when you are holding vinyl in your hands then you feel you have something truly substantial and lasting.. This is a work of art in all respects and you should own it.
Lovesick: Victoria's Secret Exclusive CD
Lovesick: Victoria's Secret Exclusive CD
Nine selections from the 50 plus years recording history of Bob Dylan. With the 1960's Bob represented by: "She Belongs To Me" "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" "To Ramona" "Boots Of Spanish Leather" and "It's All Over Now Baby Blue." With the first five tracks you are the witness to some golden age Bob. In the early 1960's the man only needed his acoustic guitar and harmonica with some instrumental backing to send out his message. "Lovesick" from "Time Out Of Mind" is here as a remixed version and also from that 1997 album is "Make You Feel My Love" and they are a tease from one of Bob's recent classic records. "Things Have Changed" and "Sugar Baby" are the last two tracks on this disc. The voice found on the last four selections is that of a man that has traveled down many roads over all the years but it's easy to get used to cos' this is DYLAN!

I play this one in the car and it has been there for a few months now. A mighty fine (and short) CD this one is.
FIVE STARS!!!

EDITED on Oct. 3, 2019: I bought 2 Samsung Galaxy J2 Core 2018 Factory Unlocked 4G LTE (USA Latin Caribbean) Android Oreo SM-J260M phones.
- I bought the phones as low cost option for voice/text/internet access within US and for international travel. I'd give the phones 4 stars.
-Came in original Samsung packaging
-Unlocked - I used sim cards I purchased
-I bought the phones to use in USA and trips outside the USA.
EDITED: Used these two phones on 2 week trip outside the US. I purchased sim cards from a world phone service. They worked fine at multiple states in USA, and in UK (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland), Republic of Ireland, Guernsey channel Island (UK), and in Normandy, France. So, frequency bands available on the phone are sufficient for those countries. I'm very satisfied.
-My main uses are voice, text messaging, and internet access. Those phone features work fine.
-The phones are marketed for Latin America. To find an English-language user manual for this model I could print, I went to Samsung site for Bermuda. The full length manual was helpful to me as a new Android phone user. Helpful, but it left a lot of information out. (The manual can be accessed via the phone.)
-Main limitation: EDITED: None. The system software updated problem I saw when I first bought the phones (see below) has been resolved. One phone informed me that a system software update (Android) was ready to download and install. It worked properly and updated to the August 2019 software. On the other phone I used the update system software option in settings and that resulted in a successful system software update. The problem I mentioned in the original review has been resolved.
FIXED: "Updating the system software "over the air" (Settings...System...Software Update) does not work for both phones. It results in "Registration Failed" message. I believe this occurs because it is an International (Latin America) phone and Samsung's US support does not "register" non-US phones. (The phones cannot be registered on Samsung's US web site, either.) I successfully updated the system software from my Windows PC by using Samsung Smart Switch software. This updated the system software from March 2019 - which was on the boxed phones - to June 2019. Contact with Samsung chat and phone support did not resolve this problem. Support recommended I take the phones to local service. I'm going to do the system updates manually with my computer.
- App installation and updates work fine. It is the Android system updates that must be done manually."--FIXED
"t-shirts"
"t-shirts"
So the price was right. Hard to complain when it's $2 a shirt. As it turns out, that's about what they're worth. First thing I noticed was that they're short and wide. They're not tapered as suggested in the description and pictures. It's a one-size-fits-all design. That can really be seen in the neck opening. For the Large size that I got, it's a whopping 11.5 inches in diameter. That means for normal men, it will sit low, causing a lot of neck and back to be exposed, and also, the neckline will be really loose. For comparison, my Jockey t-shirts are 8.5 to 10 inches, and a couple that I got at Target (Merona) are 9 inches. To make matters worse, after one wash, the material along the neckline curled badly. An oversized neck opening with a curled rim is NOT a good look. The shirts are simply unwearable in public. So all 6 immediately go into the rag drawer and I'll use them for painting or other messy jobs where it's okay if the shirt gets ruined. No idea why these shirts are getting good reviews.
Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto
Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto
Absolutely fantastic book. I bought 1 for myself...and then bought 1 for my Dad and one for my Father in Law...Probably get one for my Stepdad Soon as well. I laughed when I read the 1 star reviews. This is NOT a cookbook. This book is about how Aaron Franklin ascended to his position as being one of the best BBQ Cooks in the Nation. He talks about what he did, why he did it, and what he learned along the way. He talks about his victories and defeats and how he gained just a little bit of knowledge during each cook. What he could use he kept, what didn't work, he noted it, and tossed it aside. This is a great book on the science and theory of what is actually happening when you smoke something. The different kinds of wood that is used, the kind of smoker he likes, what temperature he prefers (275'), what he spritz's his meats with while they cook, when to pull the meat off, when to wrap it, what to wrap it with, how and why to rest it..etc. etc...I have been grilling for 20+ years, and been smoking meat for about 10, and this book really really taught me a lot of things, and cleared up some things that I have noticed, but hadn't really figured it out. He explains how to smoke meat in very simple terms. It IS simple to smoke meat...but you can totally screw it up if you don't do it right. A perfect example that he talks about, and I did this when I first started, but luckily figured it out years ago is the fact that rookies see that Beef is done at 160-165 degrees and they think, welp, its done, might as well pull it off. They pull it off and let it sit, and when they slice into it, its tough or if its pork, it doesn't pull or shred at all, and none of the fat has rendered and they think "What happened?? Well what happened is that yes, the meat reached a safe temp to eat, but not the OPTIMAL temp for BBQ. You want the internal temp at 203 degrees instead so the fat can liquefy and give the meat its juiciness and tenderness.
That is just one example. He lays it all out there for you, and doesn't hold anything back. This is a simple process, but the devil is in those details, and he is adamant about them. There are a few recipes in the book, but this isn't a cook book per se. I did like the recipes on the BBQ sauces though and Ive made them all. Aaron keeps it straightforward and simple. If you don't learn anything from this book then you aren't paying attention. I read a 1 star review and the guy goes, "Yeah, I learned to use salt and pepper and post oak....lame"
If you have that sort of mentality, then this book is definitely not for you, but if you want to reach in to what BBQ is, and how it is done right, and then you actually DO what he talks about, you will never screw up a piece of meat again.
Outwitting Tomorrow: Secrets For Living From the Great Pyramid
Outwitting Tomorrow: Secrets For Living From the Great Pyramid
I have always believed the world knew about alien visitation so the existence of Valiant Thor (except for the name) is not a surprise to me. The book, Outwitting Tomorrow, however, is a pleasant product of that belief. These few pages give amazing and soul enlightening views on the reality of why we are really here and how we should live. Although I find the addition of Frank Stranges's own deep religious inspired rhetoric annoying, I remember that he stated he knew Thor only a few months before the aliens departure. Thor had tried for nearly 3 years to get the President, the Pentagon and the rest of the nations to open up to his truths. Of course, they couldn't. Our entire way of thinking would have to change just as the prophet Jesus stated so long ago, "..the world will not change until the hearts of man change..." Although I do believe in a higher, loving intelligence many of the sentences go overboard as if Stranges is quoting his own beliefs. Maybe Thor realized this was the only way to continue his teachings so he let that remain. Whatever the truth, I find this short book very life-changing. I have always believed some of these teachings so it made me happy to see that I may be correct in them. For others, the simplicity of it will be too hard to swallow. The mere thought of laughing at your own weaknesses instead of complaining, in attempting to find some joy in doing something you detest, in allowing others to do what they can do for themselves and in and in turning away hatred and negativity are just simple laws that would make us all finer and happier human beings. His call for an elimination of greed which would discount the necessity for a lot of doctors, lawyers, etc. did not go well with the government at that time (can you imagine today?), and his discussion of the illusion of having a "soul mate" (which does happen but is rare) that wastes our time searching when we could be doing more for ourselves and our fellow man are just a few discussions among many that we have never considered. The need for silence is encouraged. Of course, the description of the pyramid and it's relation to our history is very detailed. Whoever this visitor was I have to believe it was just not the creation of Frank Stranges but a real entity, who came and went, probably very disappointed which makes it seem even more real. If you are angry or disappointed in this world today take a quick read of Outwitting Tomorrow. It might be better than any psychologist or religious teaching you are using today.
One Piece, Vol. 86 (86)
One Piece, Vol. 86 (86)
After a few volumes of set up the wedding of Sanji is finally here in volume 86 of One Piece. Will Bege's plan to end Big Mom work, this volume contains the answer. It's an exciting read from start to finish, with Luffy having one of his most funniest ideas yet. And of course there is plenty of action, when you cross one of the four emperors you better be prepared.

The volume also finally gives us a good look at the history of Big Mom and why she is the way she is. It didn't make more sympathetic to her but at least I understand her a bit better because of her flashbacks. As well as introduce some rather important background characters of the One Piece World. Like Big News Morgan, the head of every newspaper that has been shown throughout One Piece. Get ready for what will go down as one of the craziest arc's of One Piece.

Loved this book! In my journey to read all of Dean Koontz's books this was a surprise. Reading in no particular order I conquered 26 books so far. The characters were interesting in this book. Warning spoiler alert!! Bryan, I found his character be a fascinating sociopath. His scene with the blue eyeballs was so bazaar and insane it took me back a step. The whole scene played vivid pictures in my mind and in color riveted, disgusting and terrorizing me at the same time. Who are you really, Dean Koontz? How do you imagine and write about such perversions? However you do this magic don't stop the madness, please. Bryan's insanity mixed with supernatural powers was one your best characters I think. Don't let the title fool you, readers it a true to the end Koontz book. Thank you Mr. Koontz for another fantastic book.
A Matter of Choice
A Matter of Choice
This is a 3 star review. I'm typing this on my Kindle, never a good idea, and I can't get the stupid thing to keep it at three stars. Also, any weird typos are Kindle' s auto correct. Grrrrrrrrr.

First, there are too many one star reviews because this is a reprint. Nora Roberts and her current publisher publicized the addition of the NR MEDALLION on every newly published work. If you look on her most recent novel, Dark Witch, the MEDALLION is there in plain sight. As a frequent Nora Roberts and JD Robb reader, I knew the minute I saw the cover that this was a reprint. Also, if you've spent any time on Amazon this year (2013), you should know that Intermix is the publishing arm that is releasing Roberts' back catalogue. A back catalogue, I might add, that many long time readers have been asking for. I do think Amazon should put the actual book publication date in the information so that there is no doubt. On Kindle books, the publication date is ALWAYS the date the book was published as an ebook. I don't think the reviews that take issue with this title as a reprint are fair. Ms Roberts is one of the few authors who takes the trouble to even try to communicate this difference with her readership. Off hand, I can't think of another who does it.

My 3 star review is of the book. I bought this directly from the Kindle store, so I can't tell when the book was first released. I am one of those who looked forward to the release of her back catalogue. I've actually been disappointed. Most are too dated and drown in stereotypes that I find them unreadable. I began to wonder how she gained such a following, myself included! This one was good. Don't let the three stars deter you. My biggest problem with the book is that you know immediately "who done it". Then you've got to wade through the story to see how the couple gets together in the end. I've been critical in past reviews of Ms Roberts recent works because she is writing the same male and female archetypes over and over and over and over.... The male archetype that she currently favors is here, but he's a little different and, thankfully, the female character is completely different than her current writing. For me, that alone is reason to spend an afternoon with this book. You can see in this early work the raw story telling talent that is Nora Roberts.

I recommend this book, even with its flaws. A nice afternoon, cloudy day book. It isn't great, but they don't all have to be 5-star, do they??
Kilkenny (Louis L'Amour's Lost Treasures): A Novel
Kilkenny (Louis L'Amour's Lost Treasures): A Novel
Lance Kilkenny is a Gunslinger but he is also a very good person who does not like the reputation one gets when they are good with a gun. Kilkenny goes well out of his way to help those who have been good to him when he needed help.

He would rather settle disputes without the use of guns! But, during his time in the West, a shooting was a simple way to resolve differences and this was accepted. Then times began to change; law and order were being sought for towns that were springing up in many Western Lands. Lawmen across the Western Lands began to communicate with one another to bring criminals to justice! Kilkenny respects law and order and attempts to change his identity so he can live in peace; this is only possible if others will allow him the opportunity.

He is also in love with a kind, beautiful woman but he is afraid to spend much time around her, since she could be killed because of him; because some young kid learns his true name and then decides he will kill Kilkenny so everyone will think he is "Bad Man," which really means that he is a bad man to mess with or he could kill you with a fast, accurate draw.

Nita Riordan, inherited a saloon when her father died. She either had to run the saloon to make a living or starve. A Yaqui Indian made a promise to her father that he would take care of Nita, which he does and, he feels Kilkenny is the man for Nita! Now if Kilkenny will stop being so pigheaded, he could end up with a stunning bride! Nita doesn't give up so easily and she has never been willing to cut Kilkenny out of her life regardless, of his fears!

This is another Louis L'Amour Winner! If not very careful, you may fall in love with Kilkenny yourself!
The Mountain Valley War: A Novel (Kilkenny Book 2)
The Mountain Valley War: A Novel (Kilkenny Book 2)
Louis L'Amour wrote dozens of stories with non-reoccurring characters. The hero would appear in one book never to be seen again. On the other side was almost two dozen novels about the Sackett family. The Sackett books spanned several generations. In between these Louis L'Amour had a few characters that popped up in various novels and short stories. Kilkenny was one such. There were three novels and three short stories about Kilkenny.

For some reason Kilkenny is one of my favorite Louis L'Amour characters. He had many of the traditional traits: fast with a gun, a good fist fighter, smart, stood up for justice and for most of the stories he rode off into the sunset, alone.

"The Mountain Valley War" is the last Kilkenny novel. Once again our hero is minding his own business. He is up in the mountains of Idaho building up a small ranch. Then a cattle baron starts pushing his weight around. He wants more land, and he kills for it. Kilkenny gets involved and rallies to the side of the small settlers. In addition to all that, trouble has followed him from the story of "The Rider of Lost Creek." We have lots of gun battles and some fist fights. The action just moves from page to page.

Personally I recommend you start with "Kilkenny" and "The Rider of Lost Creek" before reading "The Mountain Valley War." But if you like Louis L'Amour or westerns in general you can jump straight to "The Mountain Valley War."

I love these adorable books! If you're a French teacher, like I am, looking for stories that the live-action movie was (loosely) based on, there are Les Docteurs and Marie-Edwige's birthday party. Lots of advanced grammar, so probably best at level 3 and above.

The Angel of Terror by Edgar Wallace, Fiction, Classics, Mystery & Detective
This is not the kind of book that I read, but I was looking for a bit of a change. I started reading and found it about impossible to put down. The heroine was perfect, the criminals (especially Jean) were ruthless . The book flowed evenly, until the part that made my jaw drop from surprise! The ending was pretty abrupt, but I guess there was no point in going further. Mr. Wallace put out a wonderful book, that is about honest and good people, as well as the devious killers without the gore and bad language so prevalent today.
Madonna
Madonna
Not family friendly due to language, reenacted sex scenes, rape, violence toward a female, and infanticide. Korean with English subtitles, and dialog is sometimes so rapid that I had go rewind a number of times to get the words. Subs sometimes seem to be out of sinc with speakers.
Screwy is the word that comes to mind in relation to the Korean movie, Madonna. The story is all over the place, jumping from one situation to another with little or no segue. Spoilers ahead. A new nurse is introduced to a hospital unit where the very rich receive the very best care. One old guy in particular has been kept alive for ten years, at the insistence of his son, so that his money will not stop flowing to the son and the hospital. At his death, it is to go to charity. The old guy is in a vegetative state. Enter a young pregnant female who has been declared brain dead, and the old guy needs a new heart. The new nurse is tasked with finding out if the pregnant girl has any relatives who can sign off on the organ donation, and she is to find out who the father of the fetus is. The story is then split between the new nurse’s life and that of the pregnant girl, mostly the pregnant girl, and her life is sad and lonely and one in which she is abused in about any way imaginable. The new nurse is striving to save the fetus. The wealthy son cares nothing about the fetus, only about keeping his father alive so he can continue receiving his “allowance”. I can’t understand the dilemma; the girl is nearly full term so the child could be taken by caesarian section but that never comes up. Instead the story wallows around in each sordid event in the poor girl’s life. It was just too much darkness, depression and poor story editing for me. For example, the new nurse easily finds the girl’s grandmother – we don’t know how. Then she comes into possession of her cellphone, again we don’t know how. Late in the story there is a rape on the bus related by the girl’s friend, and we don’t know how she knew because that’s the event, apparently, that rendered the girl brain dead. Then, out of nowhere, a flashback of the heroine, the new nurse, going out into the countryside where she gives birth in a wheat field and afterwards puts her newborn into a suitcase with several large rocks and takes it out into a lake, where it sinks to the bottom. In trying to tell so many stories, no story is adequately told. So we lose one star for the language and violence, one star for having to read a movie and two more stars for the bad plot and bad editing. If you skip this one, you’ll never regret it.

When you say Dailey, McNaught, Palmer, Lowell, you know that a story by one of them has a true depth of feeling and emotion. It's hard to read a story for the first time without a few tears forming. Each rereading over the years brings a catch to your heart. I bought this book when it first came out in paperback. Am very happy to add as an eBook, to continue to enjoy. (sniff, still brings a tear). Love this book!
See You on Sunday: A Cookbook for Family and Friends
See You on Sunday: A Cookbook for Family and Friends
“Life satisfaction is a term of art used by social scientists to capture a person’s overall happiness and well-being...Dinner is a marvelous way to create that time, to mark it, to make it happen.” The author, Sam Sifton, goes on to say that this happiness doesn’t happen in 1,2 5 or 20 dinners. It occurs with time and repetition and that this book is a rough guide to help make that happen and make it easier.

Know right up front that this is a book for regular folks about cooking, about loving and about living. This is not a bunch of pretty pictures to be displayed on your coffee table, to impress your friends and to oooo and aaahhh over on rare occasions. Sure, there are some nice photographs in this volume, but not one for each recipe, not even close; just enough to satisfy and entice.

What this book does have is a heaping helping of common sense and basic skills assistance on how to be successful at feeding a flock on a regular basis. I’m from a large family. We regularly had double digits around the dinner table, so fixing large quantities is “normal” for me. That’s NOT the case for most folks these days. There’s advice on what basic cookware to use, (quality over variety and quantity), key items for your pantry, (versatility rules), setting the table, (simple, basic and consistent from week to week), beverages, (plenty trumps variety) and my favorite credo: “Sunday Dinner is not a dinner party” In other words, put away the pretense and enjoy yourself and your family. A little mess and a lot of love is all good.

There are 14 chapters in this volume, each is full of recipes that cater to large groups of 6 or more and are easily adapted to bigger groups. The author purposely chose proteins that won’t cost you a week’s salary: chicken, turkey,
modest cuts of beef to be roasted, stewed or ground. There’s a chapter each for rice & beans and pasta along with chapters for taco night and pizza; all very budget conscious. Seafood, Salads, Vegetables and Desserts, are included as well, but follow the Sunday Dinner theme.

Most interesting are the author’s discourse that accompany each recipe. He provides family stories, snippets of history or tricks that will make ways to adapt the recipes. Look for the soft, gold colored boxes that have extra special information about an ingredient or style of cooking or some other factoid; these are culinary magic, all along
the way thru out the book.

By far, one of the best cooking books I’ve purchased in a long time📚
Six Minutes to Midnight (Mission: Six Book 1828)
Six Minutes to Midnight (Mission: Six Book 1828)
Out of all 6 of these books, this is the first one the heroine wasn't kidnapped so the team had to rescue her.

T-Mac starts the book out arguing with his team that he doesn't need a woman in his life like the rest of them have found. Boom! Walks out the door and runs into Kinsley, the Army dog handler on base and her dog Agar.

Similar to the first book with Diesel, the "couple" end up left behind after a mission and spend the night hiding out from the enemy. I tried to feel the chemistry with these 2, but they seemed preoccupied with getting caught fraternizing and the repercussions of that, then throwing caution to the wind to have sex.

T-Mac made a statement to his team early on that his team mates were able to have their relationships because the women they found "blew up her place" in one book, "having her resort burn down" in another so the women could return to the states to have their relationships. Even his team mates said "well when you put it that way...". Of course something had to happen so these 2 in this book could be together without being court marshalled.

These SEALs, when rescuing their women at the end of their stories, seemed to lose focus on their impeccable training. There is a way to love someone and still stay focused.

The book (and series) was ok, just not very realistic for what we know SEALs to be.
The Mister: Roman - Deutschsprachige Ausgabe (German Edition)
The Mister: Roman - Deutschsprachige Ausgabe (German Edition)

Was geschah hier?

The Tide of Life
The Tide of Life
Sep McGilby always said that Emily Kennedy had a glad face. And at sixteen, Emily had a lot to be glad about. She loved her job as maid-of-all-work to the McGilbys, and the only cloud on her horizon was her anxiety about her delicate younger sister, Lucy.

But when the invalid Mrs McGilby died, and Sep was killed in an accident soon after, Emily and Lucy were forced to leave South Shields to look for work.

The household of Croft Dene house, where Lawrence Birch ruled as master, was a strange one, and as Emily became more deeply involved with the family's affairs, she grew rapidly from girl to woman, needing all her strength of will and character to get her through. And whatever happened, she clung grimly to a scrap of philosophy that had become her motto: 'Never say die!'
A throughly enjoyable book that will remind us how utterly important is to love life despite hardship, sorrow or pain.

But I would like Anna Jacobs to write book 4 this series that might include the Preston twin girls that were sold as babies after their farther died and before their Mother married again.

The Guilty (Will Robie Book 4)
The Guilty (Will Robie Book 4)
The Guilty is another tremendous entry in the best-selling thrillermaster’s increasingly impressive resume and the fourth instalment in the David Baldacci's Will Robie and with the added great character Reel.

Robie, a black ops CIA sniper, accidentally shoots a child while assassinating a corrupt foreign leader overseas. When he freezes on his next op, unable to pull the trigger, Robie’s handler pulls him out of the field and gives him an opportunity to get his head right. Meanwhile, Robie’s father has been arrested for murder in the small Gulf Coast town of Cantrell, Mississippi, a place Will left immediately after high school and never looked back.

Now forced to confront his painful past – much of which stems from his strained relationship with his father – Robie's returns to Cantrell in an effort to resolve the wounds of his past and get his professional mojo back. But the Cantrell he returns to is vastly different than the one he’d left. His father, once a second-rate lawyer, is now the county judge and living in a massive mansion with his new wife and child, a shift that drew the elder Robie more than his share of enemies in the town. The man he is accused of killing, a shifty lowlife character named Sherman Clancy, saw his once-dismal financial fortunes skyrocket and then plummet back to earth for mysterious reasons in the years between Will’s departure and Clancy’s murder. A new preacher has also arrived in town, with his three rebellious and savvy daughters seemingly neck-deep in the mystery that entangles Robie’s father.

While most of the characters are well-balanced, the relationship that truly stand out among the most noteworthy is the rapport between Robie and Reel, with the professional and personal trust and respect that the two share for one another – having risked it all for each other several times before – feeling believable and compelling, not to mention being the source of a fair amount of witty banter/humour. The tense dynamic between Robie and his father is palpable as well, and their shifting relationship – and how they both deal with the wounds of the past – To me the highlights being the relationship between Robie and his father very touching moments.

The mystery itself is a massive adventure and journey full of dead ends and surprising turns, with new reveals doled out at regular intervals as the story builds to its shocking conclusion, a spectacular double-twist climax that will leave even the most jaded thriller readers impressed. A thoroughly satisfying thriller but for Baldacci also a strong mystery that I have not quite read from this author, this adds to Robie and how his characters unfolds in this book.

A clear four star for me... A match against his John Puller books, just love both characters.

FLEMING'S WARS: THE HISTORY BEHIND THE FICTION OF IAN FLEMING’S JAMES BOND
Honest review - I didn't read this book. Instead, I am posting to credit the time and dedication that went into his research of this material. Then hours spent to format it into a book. The amount of reading and research of other books to get the details correct. His love of history and his love of James Bond. His friends advised him to change the picture of the book; but he is so dedicated to the history correctness of the period, he refused. I read a few parts that interested me and enjoyed those sections.
Trigger Mortis: With Original Material by Ian Fleming (James Bond Novels (Paperback))
Trigger Mortis: With Original Material by Ian Fleming (James Bond Novels (Paperback))
https://rwh92.wordpress.com/2015/09/11/trigger-mortis/

Thrilling racing around the forbidding Nürburgring racing track, rocket launches at Wallops Island and the tense finale that occurs in the labyrinthine railway network beneath New York City, which all contribute to a bloody brilliant Bond novel. There is of course, the inclusion of inevitably beautiful and tempting women, coupled with another aspect that is trademark Bond material, a diabolical enemy who is intent on causing destruction and loss of life. Trigger Mortis is a fantastic novel by Anthony Horowitz who has combined all those elements with the return of the dastardly organisation SMERSH to create an intoxicating story that would make Ian Fleming proud.

Horowitz has written so faithfully that this could quite easily be a lost Ian Fleming work that has been discovered and released. The writing style is absolutely on point in every chapter, paragraph, sentence and word. He has described everything from a bottle of wine to race car in fascinating detail which is a hallmark of Fleming. Even the outdated, politically incorrect phrases that feature in Fleming’s novels are included here, but they are included and handled in a seemingly less offensive way to conform to modern sensibilities. Though Trigger Mortis is very much in keep with the 1950s Bond books, Horowitz has managed to handle sensitive words to a modern audience deftly while maintaining the attitudes held by many of the time.

The Bond Girls. Bond has 3 Bond Girls to contend with in Trigger Mortis, and all three of them exude traits such as smartness, quick-wittiness and none are taken for fools. Pussy Galore who is introduced at the start after following on from events in Goldfinger which are explained briefly but effectively. Though she only features briefly at the start as Bond’s live-in girlfriend, she is still caught in some terrifying action and departs on her own terms. Number 2 is Logan Fairfax, the highly capable motor car driver that teaches Bond about driving the Maserati that he’ll be driving at the Nürburgring in a few days time. She is competent and sure of herself in her work and personal life and in Logan, Bond has met a woman who can more than hold her own. But the most important Bond girl in Trigger Mortis is Jeopardy Lane, who was a fantastic inclusion as a female interest for Bond who has the remarkable ability to get away from Bond. She is masterfully characterised by Horowitz to prove that she is just as talented, capable and skilled as the British Secret Agent. Bond’s patronising carnal attitude to women that is idiosyncratic of Bond in all of Fleming’s novels is again in full swing, however his ego is given a bit of a hit with Logan and Jeopardy both proving to be headstrong, proficient and smart women that more than prove a match for James. It would be refreshing to see a character like Jeopardy Lane included in the upcoming Bond films as I enjoyed the camaraderie, competitiveness and chemistry between her and Bond.

The villain is the unfeeling Korean Jai Seung Sin, whose interests align with SMERSH who are intent on winning the Space Race while Sin wants revenge on America. Sin and SMERSH combine to ensure that the American’s programme suffers a setback that will set their space programme back decades while also delivering a hammer blow to the American people. Sin’s motives are different to SMERSH’s, but he acts on his with equal ferocity and planning. He reveals to Bond, the heartbreak and psychological torture he endures during the Korean War, which has shaped Sin into the man that will deliver an equally merciless act in revenge for the traumas the American Army caused him and his countrymen. Another key facet of Sin’s character is the devious card game he has manipulated from a Korean deck of cards in order to determine the manner of death that the unfortunate victim is about to suffer, a sure sign of a Bond villain.

The novel flows brilliantly, especially events at the Nürburgring and Sin’s various buildings. Horowitz has perfectly imitated Fleming’s exquisite eye for detail in all manner of things from food and wine, to motoring, weaponry and Space Age technology. Action sequences in the novel exude the perfect balance of tension and excitement which make the novel such a thrilling and compelling read, but he also intersperses it with changes of scenery which provides some relief but also makes the reader hungry for whatever is next.

Bond fans can rejoice as Horowitz has stepped forward as Fleming’s heir to Bond, and we can hope that he continues on from this successful attempt to bring a 1950s Bond to a 21st century audience. A great read, fully deserving the 4 out of 5 stars.

Seven Complete Nero Wolfe Novels (The Silent Speaker / Might as Well Be Dead / If Death Ever Slept / 3 at Wolfe's Door / Gambit / Please Pass the Guilt / A Family Affair)
Stylish, witty, whimsical, devious, selfish, egocentric, flawed...the list could go on and on and still not capture the charm of these stories.
I first became aware of them, as is so soften the case, via the tv. But now I have them read and savour.
Some how the writing and therefore the stories seem to be even more 'set' in the period. Somehow they seem to capture the attitude of the times.
I don't know much about the author. (more shame me). but I know I like his work.
I'm not going to go in to any plot detail or put in any spoilers. I will say that some of the stories are as straight (ish) forward as they seem and others have unexpected twists. But ALL have them have priceless moments, great scene setting, human motivations, legendary gluttony (perhaps a bit harsh perhaps just say he is a connoisseur), a whole spectrum of entertainment.
I suppose I keep referring to him or he when I should be saying Mr Wolfe or Nero (great name), even though the Archie could be considered equally the star. But Nero is such a force. NOT one dimensional and so faceted that I should think everyone ill see one characteristic reflected in him.
His mind is as sharp as Miss Marples'
Holmes has his pipe (and other weaknesses) Wolfe has his food and orchids.
He's a realist... again you can go on etc so I wont.
He has a small house hold so a 'family' if you will of characters who all learn to (perhaps love is too strong a word) look out for each other.
I was going to say that it could appeal to everyone from about 10 upwards BUT given they way younger folk like their entertainment these days perhaps it will only appeal to middle agers an over. Not because of adult content but because being able to understand the way thing were. Yes I know that does a dis service to the younger who are mature enough to get it, AND a disservice to the older ones who are still young enough to be' with it' (is 'with it' still an acceptable phrase or even meaningful these days?)
Enough.
The book was delivered in excellent condition - well priced - packaged in Amazon's inimitable cardboard, in the delivery window.
I've had it a while now and love it. I shall re read it many time - hopefully. I seem to have a fondness for older style stories.
ACID TEST: would I buy again - If my copy were damaged? definitely.
Funko Pop! - Funkoverse Strategy Game: Harry Potter #100 - Base Set
Funko Pop! - Funkoverse Strategy Game: Harry Potter #100 - Base Set
I played this combined with the HP expansion set, but this is, of course, a complete game on its own. My wife and I enjoyed playing!

Positive attributes:

-Great two player game!!! I am constantly looking for games that I can play with my wife, and two player games are really hit or miss. With the base game, you can play with 4 people, but this is really fun with two. We each had three characters to control since we played with the expansion, so we were loaded down with a lot of choices for strategy, which is great.

-SO MANY BITS! This game is awesome for all the little high quality pieces. The player pieces, of course, are awesome. But the point markers, player cards, scenario cards, items, dice, and everything else are so great! Getting a point is such a tactile moment because you pick up a blue crystal to add to your pile. And moving the big head pieces around is really fun.

-The potential for mixing and matching characters and games is really exciting. I'm imaging playing a game where Bellatrix is partnered with Blanche from the Golden Girls, and it makes me laugh.

-The game board is great- awesome artwork, interesting set up, and you get two options as the board is reversible.

-Mechanics and game play are easy, but fun. The first few moves as you spread out your pieces on the board are pretty straightforward, but they get more complex. And the individual powers make decisions interesting.

"Not so positive, but still not a problem" attribute:

The scenarios and some of the goals could be a bit more thematic. One scenario is basically "capture the flag" with a side of retrieving points on the board marked A-D. I understand that some of the themes are probably generic because they will be making an infinite number of versions for different fandoms, but it would have been awesome if a bit more effort was put into theming these scenarios. There's a little vague blurb at the top of each scenario that tries to sell it, but I would have liked to be trying to steal or protect actual thematic items (like horcruxes) instead of tokens with A-D printed on them. But, once again, the A-D point pieces are used in many of the scenarios, so assigning them as an actual thematic item might limit their use, or complicate their use over multiple scenarios. All that said, I felt like the HP kids and villains were playing capture the flag instead of battling it out over something thematic.

This game will surely please fans of strategy games, and buying a version from their fandom heightens the enjoyment a great deal! My wife and I really like Harry Potter, and it was fun to add commentary and imagination as the characters face off or chase after each other.

When buying it, I failed to notice the size of the funko pop and I was quite surprised when I saw that it was huge. Pleasantly surprised though. The photo posted here gives you a perspective between the funko Pop Hagrid (considered to be large relative to other pops) and Tonks (normal sized pop). The packaging was secure and well handled. It will make a great gift to any Harry Potter fan and is a great way to start a collection. Its value for money is quite exceptional and I don’t mind spending that much on it: it added flare and style to my own Harry Potter collection. All in all a great addition! A word to the wise though: handle with care and place on a steady or sturdy platform because If it fell, Fawkes, the wand or the glasses could get seriously hit.

I've always liked the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, if largely for the sheer spectacle of the Triwizard Tournament. Unlike its predecessors, the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is very different from the book - necessitated in part because the book is almost twice the length of Prisoner of Azkaban.

Goblet of Fire contains an entire subplot about House-elf rights not even referenced in the films. It's an interesting social commentary and adds another layer of moral complexity to the Harry Potter series. Unfortunately, the characters' responses to the House-elves plight puzzles me, to say the least.

Harry, Hermione, and Ron learn that Dobby now works at Hogwarts as a free Elf. However, they also learn that hundreds of House-elves work in Hogwarts, basically as slaves. This immediately strains credibility. Harry, Hermione, and Ron have all snuck around Hogwarts at night. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry even learns about the secret passageways. I simply cannot believe that they'd never spotted any House-elves during their three years at the school. Up to this point. Hermione seemed to know every minute detail about the school and its history. Perhaps they were simply never curious and, like many kids, never wondered about the domestic help who cleaned up after them.

Hermione takes a strong interest in the plight of the House-elves and decides to form the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W.) to advocate for Elf rights. Despite her best efforts, neither Harry nor Ron join her crusade. In fact, they seem blasé about the House-elf situation and believe that the Elves are happy to work at Hogwarts. Harry even seems a tad insensitive; for Christmas, he gives Dobby - who risked his life for Harry in Chamber of Secrets - an old sock. Meanwhile, Ron teases Hermione for being obsessed with S.P.E.W.

I'm all for letting Harry and Ron's characters wade into morally ambiguous territory, but this setup doesn't quite ring true. If anything, given his backgrounds, Harry should have been more sympathetic to the plight of House-elves than Hermione. When we first met him in Sorcerer's Stone, the Dursleys basically treated Harry like a House-elf, forcing him to do chores and otherwise stay out of sight. In Chamber of Secrets, he actually developed a friendship with Dobby, and thus should have had a personal stake in the House-elf question.

As any social activist knows, personal appeals are often the most effective. I kept waiting for Hermione to say something like: "Harry, did you like the way your uncle and aunt treated you? Living under that staircase? Didn't they order you to act happy in front of guests? Imagine your life if Hagrid hadn't come to rescue you. How different is your situation from the House-elves, really? Except they don't have a Hagrid." Even if such an appeal didn't convince Harry to wholeheartedly join S.P.E.W., I think the character really need to confront the fact that he was turning his back on individuals in a situation similar to what he experienced under the Dursleys.

Believability aside, the House-elf subplot adds an interesting twist by suggesting that the world readers saw simply as "magical" in Sorcerer's Stone actually runs on slave labor. Again, as Harry grows up, the world is no longer black and white. As Sirius Black says, "If you want to know what a man's really like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors..." At the same time, Rowling strikes a delicate balance. Despite Hermione's pleading, the plight of the House-elves isn't so desperate that readers become disgusted with Harry or Ron. The House-elves have always been somewhat comical figures and do seem to genuinely prefer servitude. We might admire Dobby's Braveheart-like passion for freedom, and we be frustrated by the limits of Harry's compassion, but I doubt many readers come away from Goblet of Fire thinking that Harry condones slavery.

If anything, Goblet of Fire seems to use the House-elf subplot as social commentary on society's blind neglect of societal injustice. We know that problems exist in the world but rarely do we do anything about them. Most of us - and Rowling's largely Western, middle-class readership - never dig too deeply into the lives janitors, waiters, bus drivers, etc. A news article about Asian companies using slaves to catch seafood might jolt some readers, but will probably prevent few from taking action - if they even remember the following day. Goblet of Fire doesn't seem to imply that, in accepting House-elf servitude, Harry - or readers who engage in similar blind neglect - is becoming like Voldemort. It does make clear though that Harry will have to learn pity before he can become a truly admirable adult.

For all my discussion about the House-elves, they're a small part of Goblet of Fire. The later Harry Potter books continue the House-elf subplot. There's some payoff for Harry and Ron's character development, but oddly the larger issue of House-elf rights remains unresolved by the final book. Perhaps this is meant to convey the difficult of social change? In any case, the House-elf question provides an interesting subplot throughout he series, but I wish the characters had had more meaningful and personal conversations about the subject.

With the adventures of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling singlehandedly saved the publishing industry. It is impossible to overstate the impact these books had on both child and adult readers. The anticipation for the next sequel! The midnight release parties! While you missed all that excitement, you now have the joys of being able to read all the books at once.

Please do read the books; don’t just watch the movies.

PARENTS BEWARE: As Harry Potter ages, the subject matter grows more mature. J.K. Rowling was quite clear that she was not writing for young children. These books grow increasingly more intense. Exercise caution.
Paladone Harry Potter Hogwarts Travel Mug - Commuter Coffee Cup
Paladone Harry Potter Hogwarts Travel Mug - Commuter Coffee Cup
Ok so my niece is a massive Harry Potter fan and she recently started a Diploma in college so I purchased this as a gift for her to bring down costs (she spends way too much money in costa coffee haha) She made herself a coffee to take to college and the second she poured the hot water it spilled out from the bottom, we inspected the cup and there doesn't appear to be any holes or damage to it what so ever, yet the water just leaks out. We tested it with cold water and the problem didn't occur.. I have come to the conclusion that there is a fault with it when it comes to hot/warm drinks. She is upset because she loves the design and other than the faulty issue it is actually a good quality item, I am upset because it cost me 8 pound and now its pretty useless to her because it was purchased purely for coffee and not cold drinks. I dont know if this matter can be resolved, I dont want a refund if the cup can be replaced, if there is no replacement available then a refund would then be necessary. This should of been a 5 star rating...
Lost Fort Ellis: A Frontier History of Bozeman
Lost Fort Ellis: A Frontier History of Bozeman
Living in the Fort Ellis area I was super pumped to find a book that would tell me the events and exercises, the expanse and operations that transpired here in the 1800s. Sorely let down. Am 7/8ths thru the book and other than learning how the number of fort occupants fluctuated over its operational period, I've not yet once encountered any information that would bring to life the past. What I have read repetitively is the interaction between Washington, DC and Fort Ellis, social impact of Fort Ellis and Bozeman, and of the troops inside FE, how many were Irish.

I'd go on record to state this book is exclusively detailing the social exchanges, social backgrounds, and status of both the town of Bozeman and Fort Ellis. If you want to know what happened in and around FE, keep on searching.

Beautiful boots! My first real pair of 'cowboy' boots. Was apprehensive about the fit as I have a rather wide foot and high arch. Due to many years of wearing non supportive shoes on non foot friendly surfaces, I need extra support due to plantar fasciitis. I automatically add insoles to any new pair of shoes. I'm not really sure I would have needed them in these boots. However, even with people suggesting to order a half size smaller I kept with my usual size to be able to accommodate the added insoles. Even with a type of shoe that one would assume was narrow and tight in the toe, these are not. I wore them to a function that I was on my feet, mostly standing, for 6 hours straight. These boots rocked it. No soreness or discomfort at all. I will buy more Dan Post boots in the future. I highly recommend them. If you don't need heavier socks or added insoles, definitely go down a half size. And, they are gorgeous. Better than the photos!

Installed this booster two, to three, different ways and different elevations. Still haven’t seen an improvement in service the way we thought. It works better throughout the morning hours but horribly as the day goes on. Yes this does meet our RF Frequency band criteria (12 and 13). Do any kind of web browsing or data streaming? Forget it. Calls are good during the am hours only. On the verge of sending this back ASAP.

A Concise History of Modern India, 3rd Edition
A good and possibly impartial account of Indian affairs.A connection with global affairs and how that influenced the country is impressive. Does not lecture as " I know best" how to improve or tackle the problems that the Indian nation faces is actually welcome. Most Western authors just cannot hold there emotions and end up suggesting solutions which possibly is more than what actually they sat down to achieve.
A good read.

2020 Budweiser Holiday Stein - Brewery Lights
I have given my dad the Budweiser Holiday Stein for Christmas each year since I was born, it’s become a tradition. I would not order it from this seller if you are looking for a quality stein. I’ve never had one of the steins have very visible imperfections on it before until buying this years from this seller. I’m guessing that this seller gets the rejects from Budweiser and then sells them on Amazon to turn a profit. If this is the case, this information needs to be disclosed to the buyer.

adidas Tricot - Pantalón deportivo para niño
I have a 13 year old daughter who is incredibly difficult to shop for. Unlike most 13 year old girls she hates to go shopping. If we go I can never even get her to try things on. I end up taking things back and forth to the store all the time. I pick out things I think she would like and of course she doesn't or they don't fit right. To top it all off she is very athletic and doesn't like to wear frilly girl clothes. She likes jeans and sweatpants t-shirts sweatshirts and sneakers. I saw the sweatpants and I thought maybe she would like them I thought they looked pretty good I figured it was worth a try. When I gave them to her I actually got a wow and an oohhh. Anyone who has a teenage daughter knows how heartwarming that was. She has been wearing them day after day. At the end of the day she's giving them to me and asking me to wash them so she could wear them again tomorrow. So they hold up very well through wash and made my finicky child very happy.

My entire house (bathroom, bedroom, front door, blankets, wall decor, etc.) is black and white buffalo check. I purchased this and a set of stockings to match my house and I love them! They are the added Christmas detail that matches my house and makes it extra cute!

I have a medium (I think 8 feet tall) white pre-lit Christmas tree and it fits perfectly underneath, with no excess around the edges, but it is perfect for what I wanted! The only other thing to note is that the center hole is much larger than I needed for my small frame but it does not affect the functionality at all.

Apple Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th Generation) - US English
Fits perfectly on the iPad. The magnetic connection is very strong. The iPad does NOT fall out of the folio--whoever says this doesn't actually have the first party case. It does increase battery drain, but only by a little bit. Use is very seamless and I personally like the keyboard feedback. It's very slim and looks like a regular folio. The quality of the materials is really nice as well. The keyboard is water-resistant, which has come in handy for me once. The folio protects the front and back of the iPad. It looks really good with the iPad, you can tell that Apple put lots of time into making it look nice combined with the iPad. The color is charcoal-gray, not black as it might look in the picture.
Overall, I'm loving it. 5 stars.

Atomic Theory and the Description of Nature (Four Essays with an Introductory Survey)
A classic of physics literature by the great Niels Bohr. This is a great read for anyone interested in quantum theory, although it will be difficult for someone who isn't familar with quantum mechanics. The works contained here were originally published in the 30's, yet they remain a significant set of essays on quantum physics, and worth reading.
5 stars.

YJ.GWL Super Soft Faux Sheepskin Fur Area Rugs for Bedroom Living Room Floor Shaggy Plush Carpet Faux Fur Rug Bedside Rugs, 4 x 6 Feet Rectangle Black
*EDIT* SILVER/WHITE IS NOT AS SOFT!!! I originally bought this in the coral color which is the review below. I purchased the white/silver for my daughter's room. It's not as soft as the coral color and the silver parts kind of feel like ribbon streamer. Makes the rug not as soft as the other color. Amazon wouldn't allow me to leave separate reviews, even though I made two separate purchase at two separate times

I bought this rug for my bedside. It is very soft and goes well with the room. It is just as it's pictured. Wish the color were a bit more vibrant, but overall a good price for what you receive.

Fables Vol. 8: Wolves (Fables (Graphic Novels))
Fables Vol. 8: Wolves (Fables (Graphic Novels))
This is the first real resolution to an ongoing story in the series so far. It focuses mainly on the relationship of Bigby and Snow which has been in the background since the very beginning, and in my opinion it is beautifully managed.
This issue takes a small step back from the war with the adversary that Boy Blue has been leading to focus on this more emotional subject matter, but to me that enhances the story as a whole and leads to a satisfying conclusion that means that other subjects can now be brought back to the fore and followed up on.
The series is pure genius and one of the best things to happen in comics for the last 10 years. If you have not followed this story i recommend you buy the first trade paperback and start immediately.

De'Longhi Caffé Corso ESAM 2600 Kaffeevollautomat mit Milchaufschäumdüse für Cappuccino, mit Espresso Direktwahltaste und Drehregler, 2-Tassen-Funktion, großer 1,8 Liter Wassertank, schwarz
I bought this to replace an elderly and no longer functioning De'Longhi Magnifica Bean to Cup Espresso Coffee Machine ESAM4200 (before that I had a Gaggia that I brought back from Italy, but to replace it was too expensive). Theoretically, the ESAM2600 should have been inferior as it is cheaper, including the price for each new now. However, the Corso is almost identical in every way except the colour and a few cosmetic differences. The functionality is the same, the good and bad points are the same. I like a bean to cup machine because there are no horrible non-recyclable pods to dispose of, I have reasonable control over how the coffee is made and I get to choose the beans.

The downsides are few. The amount of water dispensed (espresso to large Americano style) is not great. A ristretto is almost impossible to get right, but I prefer espresso anyway.. If you want a big cup of coffee, it just doesn't happen. I shrug and don't care too much because if I want a larger coffee, I like a medium extra strong cup anyway. I used to live in Italy and no two Italians drink the same coffee! I have bought beans online from South America, Portugal (where I also used to live), Italy, but actually, Sainsbury's Continental Blend beans are really good, the flavour better than their Espresso version and I like the coffee it makes.

The full description says that it doesn't have auto shutoff, presumably, this does not refer to the eco setting which can be set so that after a period of non-use, 15 mins, 30 mins, 1, 2 or 3 hours, the machine switches off automatically.

No, this is not perfect, but for the price, it is jolly good. Do remember that it is designed and built by Italians. I love Italians, but even their machines throw their toys out of the pram from time to time. :)

Crock-Pot SCCPVL610-S-A 6-Quart Cook & Carry Programmable Slow Cooker with Digital Timer, Stainless Steel
Crock-Pot SCCPVL610-S-A 6-Quart Cook & Carry Programmable Slow Cooker with Digital Timer, Stainless Steel
UPDATE: Feb. 17, 2015. I have used this Crock-Pot a dozen times since writing my review ... and it gets better and better! I've made casseroles, breakfast dishes, beans, roast, ribs, Mexican food dishes - all just great (including the chicken/rice recipe with the rice cooked in the Crock-Pot)! The stoneware liner is easy to clean and food is NOT sticking to the sides or bottom. Warmer feature is super and it does not appear to be too hot. I found that when a cooking time range is given, such as 6-8 hours, I should probably go with the low or middle part of the range. For someone who actually HATES to cook, I'm becoming a regular Betty Crocker, and even experimenting, because cooking is SO easy with this appliance. I'm SO glad I made this purchase! Now ... back to your regular programming with the original review ...
----------------

I have an old Crock-Pot and it still works, but is too small for a roast, etc. So I got this one for two reasons: 1) bigger, 2) can program the time and temperature setting. I've only used it twice and, at this point, I am extremely satisfied. Should things change, I most definitely will update.

The programmable feature is really nice because you can set the cooking temperature on LOW or HIGH and set the cooking time in 30-minute increments all the way up to 20 hours. Some other "programmable" slow cookers have a few time/temp combination options but they are quite limited - this one gives you total control. Once the programmed cooking time is finished, the Crock-Pot automatically turns to "warm." The controls are touch (instead of turn dials) and very user-friendly. The user manual is small, but complete, and includes a couple recipes.

My first dish: Breakfast Casserole (photo attached). Very tasty and the Crock-Pot worked perfectly. There was some extra browning around the edges so I probably need to adjust the cook time a bit ... and you'll have to do that with any slow cooker. Second dish: Hot Sausage Stew. Again, the appliance worked perfectly and the "warm" feature is great because the food finished cooking before I was ready to eat. Keep in mind: you may consider the "warm" temp to be hotter than you expect but that's because of government regulations, not the Crock-Pot.

This Crock-Pot holds a LOT of food! I'm cooking for just me so I put some in the fridge and the rest in smaller containers in the freezer. And since I truly hate to cook, this is the best way to keep me out of the kitchen but still have good food to eat.

The food I prepared didn't stick to the stoneware and it was super easy to clean. Just hot, soapy water and rinse. You can also put the stoneware and the glass lid in the dishwasher. I will probably never use the "carry" function but I did try the locked lid and the rubber seal is tight and should make it easy to take your dish to the potluck, etc. Just don't lock the lid while you're cooking!

Bottom line: the ability to truly program the cooking time/temp ... and the "warm" function ... make this my top kitchen appliance (right along side my George Foreman grill). I'm actually looking for slow cooker recipes to try - and I can't believe I'm doing that! My old Crock-Pot is at least 15 years old and that's why I chose this brand. Because of the "computer" that allows the programming, I know the chances of it lasting that long are probably slim because the fancier you get, the more chances you have of something going wrong. But the price is right and, so far, I'm very happy with my purchase. Amazon shipping was fast and the slow cooker was packed in its original box with plenty of protection.
Panasonic SR-G06FGL Rice, Steamer & Multi-Cooker, 3-Cup (Uncooked), 3 Cups 6 Cups Cooked, Silver
Panasonic SR-G06FGL Rice, Steamer & Multi-Cooker, 3-Cup (Uncooked), 3 Cups 6 Cups Cooked, Silver
We adore our little rice cooker. There are 3 keys to making successful brown rice and oatmeal. #1: Add more water than stove-top cooking. #2: Stir in a bit of olive oil to the mix beforehand, and #3. When the rice cooker shuts off with a click, IMMEDIATELY remove the insert pan and stir. You can cover it again and it will stay hot for a while. I'd guess I use no more than 1/4 tsp of olive oil, which we can't taste at all.

We use regular measuring cups, not the cup that came with the cooker. BROWN RICE (2 servings): 3/4 cup pre-rinsed brown rice, and 2 cups water. About 42-48 minutes. OATMEAL (1 large or 2 small servings): 2/3 cup oatmeal and 1-1/2 cups water, about 14-16 minutes. (We use Old Fashioned oats.) Measure how long yours takes so you know when to get back in the kitchen!

Just push the ON button down to turn it on. We bring it forward so it's not underneath the cabinet as it does steam just a little. When done, the cooker shuts off with a click. That's all. So you need to stay in the kitchen near the end. One time I ignored it for 5 minutes and the bottom 1/6"-1/8" of brown rice got crunchy. I minced it with the plastic spoon and stirred it in and it was OK, but I prefer not.

The cooker comes with the inner pot, a measuring cup, a plastic spoon, instruction booklet, and recipe booklet. The recipe booklet probably assumes you're using their measuring cup, but all of the recipes reference a "warm" mode which this economy cooker doesn't have ... We only use the plastic spoon to make sure we don't scrape the pan's non-stick coating. Washing is a breeze if you fill the inner pot with soapy water after emptying it. I noticed a couple drops of water in the glass lid after washing, but I shook it around and looked the next morning and it was gone, but I wouldn't immerse the glass lid because of this. We use the cooker 4-6 times a week, so hope it lasts a while. But so far, so good!

Better than expected! Within 20 minutes of running it the air smelled fresher and my stuffy nose wasn’t as stuffy. We have a cat, which I am allergic to so this has been amazing. I woke up the next morning after the first all night cycle and my usual congestion was about 60% reduced. I NEVER EVER NEVER EVER buy used things. I purchased the “used” ones but they were brand new or refurbished extremely well. I figured if they suck I won’t be out the money. Boy am I glad I did. Folks, just buy the damn thing. It’s beautiful, sleek, quiet in the low modes and does what it says it does. What more could you ask for? I’m going to buy a few more and add some to my salon. This review is not sponsored or paid in any way, I just love the damn thing. I haven’t figured out the replacement of the filters yet. Probably will order a box of them before I actually need them just so I don’t have to wait

My grandmother always loved black licorice flavored anything. She use to even have a gum. She recently passed away and I’ve never been much of a fan BUT THESE ARE AMAZING! I’m trying my best to not eat all 12 bags in 12 days. Now i ordered these in fall so if you live in TX, or other not states I wouldn’t buy in the summer I wouldn’t doubt it would melt. If you pay attention to temperate when you buy it you won’t be disappointed. I’ve tried similar products and while they are ok, the pale in comparison.
