One Click: Jeff Bezos and the Rise of Amazon.com
One Click: Jeff Bezos and the Rise of Amazon.com
I still purchased the hard copy; however, I envisioned Jeff Bezos cursing me out for not buying it through the Kindle!

I found the book to be readable and insightful about Jeff Bezos and Amazon. What I found most intriguing about the book was the clear vision and fearlessness in which Jeff Bezos ran the company. He clearly is a risk taker who really knew what he was doing well ahead of other companies. He was also modest enough to say we do not know everything and have to work harder than everyone else to achieve our goals. This did not work out well for Borders, B&N, and some independents.

One of my favorite quotes at the beginning of chapter 8 is as follows "We know two percent today. I think Amazon.com may know as much as any other company about e-commerce, but I bet we know two percent of what we will know two years from know. This is the Kitty Hawk era of e-commerce, and most of the interesting stuff has not been invented yet." That is Jeff Bezos from 1998.

Another quote which I picture more from Google is "We used to joke that the ideal Amazon site would not show a search box, navigation links, or lists of things to buy. Instead it would just display a giant picture of one book, the next book you want to buy." This quote was from Greg Linden, a former Amazon Programmer.

The book naturally has some good insight on the development and growth of the company, but like books on Google and Apple, it tends to fly at a very high level (not a lot of new insight if you are modestly familiar with the companyA). One will not learn how to run a website from reading this book, but some good "tips". I paused to think about some of the key elements Amazon employed (think One Click, continuous improvement, and the Kindle) if I ever ran or had controls in a company.

Definitely recommended reading for some big box stores or older book stores that need to carve out a real niche to survive. The reminder and moral of the story is to think about how best to serve your companies needs and challenge the status quo. We are definitely past two percent of our knowledge of e-commerce, but a lot more excitement to come.
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan/The Times They Are A-Changin/Another Side Of Bob Dylan
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan/The Times They Are A-Changin/Another Side Of Bob Dylan
The reason I give it four stars is, other than being a cheap way to pick up all three albums, this package has little marketing value other than economics. It would have been interesting had they stuck on a few unreleased tidbits from the Columbia vaults on here, rounding them out to about 75-80 minutes apiece.
That doesn't mean I think the music is not good. I tend to think of Dylan's work in trilogies, with this acting as his Folk Trilogy. While the debut is folk, this, with the exception of two tracks off FREEWHEELIN', is entirely Dylan's material.
In this package, we have one of the single most important albums released in the Sixties here: THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN. Its anthems are well known, and it has one of my favorite Dylan compositions ("Don't Think Twice, It's Alright"). I highly recommend THE BOOTLEG SERIES VOLUMES I-III, with the first disk having some great outtakes to this album. Tracks I think should have been included: "Let Me Die In My Footsteps", "Bear Mountain Picnic", "Lay Down Your Weary Tune", and "House Carpenter". This could have very easily been a double album, and there are a lot of great outtakes to this. The amazing thing, though, is had it been a double album it would still stand as important as it does now.
THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN', is, to me, the weakest of these three albums. Dylan has two albums that capture such emotional depths it is very hard and intense listening. One is BLOOD ON THE TRACKS, and the other this. Which is better depends on what you want, though for most people BLOOD will be the better listen.. THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN' deals with Dylan's cynicism of life, and his plea to get things back in order. It is pure folk, with none of the electric guitars permeating his music as in later albums. (From my own standpoint, although I love folk music, I think Dylan's rock albums are some of the best around. For me, both are richly satisfying, which is something he has over The Beatles. Bubble-gum pop is alright, but not near as good as the real thing. The Beatles' later period is much better than their earlier period, whereas Dylan was more well-rounded). Not to say it's not good, but it pales next to FREEWHEELIN' and ANOTHER SIDE. Has anyone noticed that when Dylan does works in series of threes the second installment is always the weakest? It happens here, it happens with SAVED of the Christian Trilogy, and it also happens with the Double Album trilogy (BLONDE ON BLONDE, SELF PORTRAIT, and TIME OUT OF MIND). Anway, about this record, it has Dylan in ultra-protest mode, with a bunch of angry songs. "Seven Curses" should have been on this record. The title cut is probably one of Dylan's most famous anthems, and "Ballad" is about a farmer shooting his family because of severe economic circumstances. The standout cuts are "Times", "One Too Many Mornings" (which gets an excellent rendition on the ROYAL ALBERT HALL CONCERT), "Only A Pawn", "When the Ship Comes in", "Boots of Spanish Leather", and "Hattie Carroll". The epic song "With God on Our Side" talks about the universal tactic of the political machinery of nations: they sell whatever they are doing militarily as "This is what your God wants," and by doing so justifying their actions. They are appealing to the almost universal belief of God in a cultural system, and taking advantages of syntaxes. Although not always wrong, Dylan is right that a lot of it is damned propaganda to obtain more power for the leaders. It stands as an important album, and it has Dylan at a stage of protest where we never see him again. But, as the Amazon reviewer points out, he sounds just as world weary here as he does on TIME OUT OF MIND, though the latter is a much better record. Its also interesting to compare this to the track "Things Have Changed", the latest word we have heard from Mr. Zimmerman. Dylan's come a very long road.
ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN, to me, is simply an amazing record. This is the album before BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME, where he went electric for one side. Just as the title suggests, this shows Dylan moving away from the protest-topical songs and into more introverted lyrics. This process of deconstructing personas Dylan has continued throughout his career. This subject matter, especially that of "Ballad In Plain D", is very far from anything on TIMES THEY ARE. It instead stands as a more personal record. The only cuts not really necessary are "I Shall Be Free #10", which has a few references that should have been taken out ("I sat my monkey on the log in order for him to do the dog he wagged his tail and shook his head he went and did the cat instead he's a weird monkey"). The other throwaway is "Motopsycho Nitemare", but its simply hilarious. This record also stands as the one that introduced me to Bob Dylan, and it is the first Dylan album I listened too all the way through. So it has some sentimental value to me. But I can listen to it now, and simply be amazed at how really good it is.
Like I said, the only motivation to buy this is it's a great way to pick up the albums if you don't already have them. This would stand as a much more important rerelease had it included rare and unreleased stuff at the end of the records, but as it is this item is only of nominal interest to collectors of Dylan. Columbia has done this with a lot of its artists and musicians, and there's another pack of Dylan, featuring NASHVILLE SKYLINE, NEW MORNING, and JOHN WESLEY HARDING.
to collectors The music's first rate, but this package little value to collectors

Razer Wolverine Ultimate Xbox One Gaming Controller + Nari Ultimate for Xbox One Gaming Headset Bundle
Razer Wolverine Ultimate Xbox One Gaming Controller + Nari Ultimate for Xbox One Gaming Headset Bundle
 UPDATE 11/24/2017:
The audio bug I reported in my original review is now finally fixed. After working extensively with Razer support (who have been great) and two replaced controller it was finally determined to be a firmware bug as predicted. They issued a new firmware v1.02.00 which fixes the issue . So if you experience the audio bug I faced you should contact Razer support to get the firmware updater . I now full, 200% recommend this controller . The only reason I am not bumping my original rating from 4 stars is to recognize the existence of this initial (but resolved) issue

I'm an avid console FPS gaming enthusiast and spend a significant portion of my game time playing online competitive multiplayer games like Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1 , Overwatch, Halo 5 etc. And just like me I'm sure you will come to a point where you'll realize that the stock OEM Xbox controller doesn't really cut it. Hence I have a amassed quite the collection of 3rd party controllers including my current favourite the Razer Wildcat controller (before using the Wolverine controller that is). For this review I will compare the new Wolverine controller to the Wildcat controller, how it feels in hand while gaming and reasons why I had initially chosen the Razer Wildcat over the Xbox Elite controller ( all of which apply to the Wolverine controller as well)

WHY I CHOOSE THE RAZER CONTROLLER OVER THE XBOX ELITE CONTROLLER
When I first purchased my Wildcat I had spent an embarrassingly large amount of time researching between it and the Elite controller and in the end it came down to this :
- If you read online forums, Reddit etc you'll quickly come to realize that the Elite controller is plagued with build quality issues and cheap plastic parts that break easily and on top of that the elite controller only has a 6 month warranty. These Razer controllers come with 1 year warranty. To me the the length of warranty told me all I wanted to know about the confidence each of the manufacturer had in their product
- The second thing that really seals the deal in favor of the Razer controllers (both Wildcat & Wolverine) is MECHANICAL buttons - You see even while costing $150 the elite controller had the same rubber domed ABXY buttons as the stock Xbox or any other cheap controllers. Rubber dome buttons do not provide the right feedback while intense gameplay as they tend to bottom out / fade away and 'stick' over time . Whereas the Razer controller feature proper mechanical switch ABXY buttons that are responsive , Clicky (just like a mechanical keyboard) and feature a very short travel distance and actuation time
- Well these two reasons were more than enough for me to look away from the elite controller

DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
- From the first moment you unbox the Wolverine controller , open its velvet lined hardshell case and hold the controller in your hand - you realize that it just oozes with quality worthy of its asking price. It is neither too heavy nor too light , the matte finish plastic construction, triggers , trigger locks all feel solid and operate smoothly without any creaks and rattles
- Unlike the Razer Wildcat controller where you have to stick the rubberized grips yourself which is hard to get right , the Wolverine controller now features a permanent rubberized dotted grip which works out much better in practice without adding too much bulk. It is very comfortable to hold/squeeze even with sweaty palms
- The trigger stops are also better built and feel sturdier than Razer Wildcat controller
- The four rear buttons on the rear of the controller ( M3 to M6) are made of plastic and are also of the mechanical switch type with very short actuation distance and clicky operation. One thing I would like to point out is that the rear triggers/buttons on the Wildcat controller are made of metal whereas they have switched to plastics for the new Wolverine controller
- Another aspect where the Razer controllers are better than the Elite controller is their built in chat & program pad. You can quickly program the 6 customizable buttons without the help of any software and quickly change assignments on the fly . It can store two profile assignments and also adjust chat and game volume
- You can swap the rubber domed metal- thumbsticks , D-pad out to match your preference whether you like the stock xbox controller feel, taller wider or dome shaped thumbsticks - there's one for every preference. While the magnets that hold the thumbsticks and D-pad is strong they can still come out if the controller falls or is kept face down . Hence i would recommend some caution there
- The reason why most of the 3rd party controllers on the market today are wired (with the sole exception of modded stock $170+ Scuff controllers) is because Xbox One uses a proprietary wireless protocol for their controllers which is probably very expensive to license, so its hard to be critical on this controller for being wired. Having said that the included 10 Ft nylon braided cable is durable and long enough for most gaming setups and can easily reach your couch

PERFORMANCE, TRIGGER LOCKS & CUSTOM BUTTONS
- Lets first talk about the trigger locks as they're one of main game changers when compared to stock controllers, as they limit the motion of the RT/LT triggers right upto their actuation point and cutting their 'dead' zone by almost 75%. If you prefer high precision or semi-automatic weapons in your FPS games, then you can get in significantly more number of shots faster than you would on a regular controller. The importance of that in a tense encounter with another player cannot be understated. Also unlike the Wildcat controller you dont have to activate a special 'Hair Trigger' mode on this controller as some games do not accurately recognize trigger locks . The Wolverine controller does that automatically the moment you engage the trigger locks. Very convenient indeed
- The positioning for the additional shoulder buttons M1 & M2 is genius if you ask me and once you get used it , you will stop using the regular shoulder buttons LB & RB . That's because when your fingers are on the LT & RT fingers are already exactly where the shoulder M1 & M2 buttons are located . That way you can operate them without having to lift your fingers off the triggers - Another advantage in multiplayer
- The four buttons at the back M3 to M6 are ideally located and easy to reach , but it does take getting some used to for incorporating into your gameplay. But the thing is once you get used to it you cant do away with it - I find it very hard going back even to my Wildcat controller now!
- By default the rear triggers M5 & M6 are configured for two modes with the left rear trigger for a mode called 'Focus' which decreases the sensitivity of the analog sticks by half as long as you keep M5 pressed (you can fine tune this in the Xbox Synapse app) . This allows you to carefully line up those headshots using sniper rifles . Pressing the right rear trigger activates the 'Agile' mode which doubles the analog stick sensitivity for faster response. Once you get the hang using these two mode - It does give you yet another very tangible advantage over your opponent
- Of Course if you dont want to use the Focus & Agile modes you can always re-assign the rear triggers M5 & M6 to any button you like. Think of of it - With the four rear buttons you could map the entire ABXY buttons to them and never have to move your fingers off the thumbsticks and the triggers ! ( as even the shoulder buttons M1 & M2 are right there)
- Now for the Chroma lighting on the controller which I first thought was mainly gimmicky as you never get to see it while you are actually gaming - But it does look cool for onlookers. What changed my view of it was a lighting mode called 'Immersive' which lights up as according to the controller's vibrations ie say when you fire a weapon it lights up or when you are running . It does look very cool- Check out the small clip i made of it in action

AN ANNOYING BUG
- My only disappointment with this controller is a firmware bug I encountered where if you use the Wolverine to turn on the Xbox it does not activate the audio on the 3.5mm jack and you have to do literally unplug the controller and plug the controller back in to get audio. Sometimes even the controller fails to turn on when you power on the Xbox
- I contacted Razer support for this and they did RMA my first controller and since they did not have one in stock in their local warehouse they sent it to me from their Hong Kong warehouse with two day international shipping ! Kudos to them for that but even my second controller has the same issue.
- I am decking one star for this bug alone. And the reason why I am not taking away more stars is because it can be fixed via a firmware update (which just happens to not be available yet) and they had the other similar issues with their Wildcat controller at launch which was fixed by a later firmware upgrade. I just hope it comes soon enough
- I have the original Xbox (not the S) and this bug happens on Xbox on both power saving and instant on modes

FINAL THOUGHTS
So there you have it the Wolverine controller is miles better than their own Wildcat controller (and by extension the Xbox Elite controller) . It is so good that I dont like using my Wildcat anymore as it does give a very tangible edge to my gameplay and has better overall ergonomics and precision. The only thing I would like to caution you about is the audio bug I faced requiring you to unplug and replug the controller every time. I will update this review once there is a firmware update available but until then you'll have to decide if its a quirk worth living with or not. And according to me - It is...See you in the battlefield !
Galacta: Daughter of Galactus (2010) #1
Galacta: Daughter of Galactus (2010) #1
If you are a gourmand with occasional gastric disagreements and a hunger for the metaphysical (like myself), you’ll find Galacta’s never ending quest to satisfy her appetite - along with the ethical treatment of lower life forms - absolutely entertaining!
Warning: A large, nay, brobdignagian vocabulary is required to follow our heroine’s internal dialogue, which for any regular devourer of typical Marvel Comics dialogue should be a snap! Galacta is sort of the Casper the Friendly Ghost of world devourers, trying not to follow in the footsteps of her amoral, indifferent old man and be a help to we denizens of the big, blue, biosphere when certain Weapon X-es, Nordic Deities, and Outstanding Quartets are otherwise occupied.
She’s the hero Earth deserves, but not what it needs right now. So we’ll be ignorant of her. Because she can take it, because she’s not a hero. She is a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a... uh, Garishly Purple Knight.
P.S. It has been brought to my attention that Galacta isn’t a part of “official” Marvel continuity, which is a shame, because I bet she would kick some serious ass in “Infinity War.”
Macaroni
Macaroni
In this sadly overlooked romantic comedy, Jack Lemmon and Marcello Mastroianni team up in a wonderful combination of foreign film charm and Hollywood star power. Jack Lemmon plays an American business mogul visiting Naples, Italy on business for the first time since his tour of duty in World War II. He is greeted by an old friend, played by Mastroianni, who has spent the years since the war re-inventing Lemmon as a super hero, thanks to a series of letters faithfully arriving from around the world. Lemmon shines as the jaded American against Mastroianni's hopeless romantic. Both actors work so well together it is a shame they didn't do more during their lifetimes. I highly recommend this movie for those who want a romantic comedy with a European twist. An added bonus for those allergic to foreign films is that Macaroni is in English. -Enjoy

Emerson, Thoreau, and the Transcendentalist Movement
Whether you are a student seeking more information or someone like me intense learner always seeking knowledge the great courses are fantadtic. Never a boring moment. The quality of the product speaks for itself. And the never before heard of life time guarantee and replacement of damaged discs or audio tapes providing the course is still being produced says a lot. There is something for everyone. And top professors in the country are selected to produce each course.

Customer service is outstanding at all times. In this course, the viewer learns about American culture and ideas in literature separate from the European model style and philosophy. And even more so withe the emergence of more female writers coming to light.

In addition to this, the transcendentist movement crossed life barriers, religious barriers and regional barriers in the United States. Brought new life and blood into these areas via literature and how writers expressed and revealed different emotions on paper. it boosted the individual's education process and way of thinking in a free society - allowing for individual growth as opposed to an authoritarian attitude in the field of education. Very dynamic course.
One Piece, Vol. 13: It's All Right!
One Piece, Vol. 13: It's All Right!
This thirteenth volume of the `One Piece' manga sees Zolo's fight against the bounty hunters of Baroque Works interrupted by an enraged Luffy as well as some Baroque Works officer agents who are searching for a traitor in their own ranks. Once Luffy and his crew escape Whisky Peak they set a course for the kingdom of Alabasta with their first stop the dangerous island of Little Garden.

This volume is another very good instalment of `One Piece' with some very funny moments, some nice plot twists and some nice action. This volume also includes two of my favourite characters from the series with the introduction of Princess Vivi and the woman currently known as Ms All Sunday. This was another very entertaining instalment of `One Piece' and it is defiantly one of my favourite manga series.
My Daddy is A Handsome Prince: Volume 1
My Daddy is A Handsome Prince: Volume 1
I'm sorry I can't give this book a good review. One the premise of the prince fairy tale is overdone. Not just here, but in romance in general. I knew when purchasing that this was a book on gay lovers. And since that was the case I didn't need to be reminded by the narrator that he was having gay sex. Maybe he didn't realize it and needed to be reminded, but I certainly did not. And it took away from the sex scenes. Hey, we buy erotica to be turned on. This didn't get me there. The story was one sided. Some first person stories are done well, but this one was not. Characters lacked depth. 1st person narration didn't allow for the prince's character to be fleshed out, and in this case it didn't for the narrator. I wish I could have given this a better review. I know from experience how hard writing stories can be.
Paulo Coelho's Best Story
Paulo Coelho's Best Story
Some of the reviews about all the pot smoking and hedonism is not accurate. It was a segment of his life... As for disjointed - if you don't pay attention you could get lost on some of the jumps and transitions but they all make sense and are very intention-ed. I was concerned as in his books the story would actual stale or be too repetitive, however I found it fascinating to connect the portions of his different books and how they tied together. Many of his characters are influenced by his journey - the movie refreshed my interest in the book characters in figuring which were fictional and which were loosely based on him. There was enough interaction, action and excellent cinematography to hold attention. The music was fitting and moody and the filming was interesting.. sometimes you "were" him, other times observing with unique angles and beautiful scenery.
It was good enough that at the end, you turn off the TV, sit in quiet and think a moment. His books are fantastic and books are always better then movies - but this movie was strong and a wonderful way to dive in and get to know the author more - and I've ready just about the entire Coelho collection. I hope this helps without giving away a single thing. Enjoy it!

The Berenstain Bears And The Week At Grandma's (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (Berenstain Bears (8x8))
I love the go-F-yourself smirk and glint in Papa's eye when he gets to tell the cubs they aren't coming on his and Mama's second honeymoon. It's the closest we ever get to seeing him and mama really portray the "good enough parenting" ethos. Like, it's okay to be excited to get away from your kids. No one expects the bear family to want to spend time together 24/7. I also love sister proving to us once again that she is the master of shade: "you must be so old you know EVERYTHING". She learned that from one of her parents, and it's definitely not Papa.

A solid read.

D is for Dahl: A Gloriumptious A-Z guide to the World of Roald Dahl
I've been a big fan and collector of Roald Dahl since I was about 10 years old. Almost all of the info in the books, I was already familiar with (from reading Boy, Going Solo, and the children's fiction he wrote). This book gave a few tidbits of new info that I found charming and/or interesting about Dahl, but for the most part it seemed like a promotional product for selling you his other books: One of the most common lines in this book is, "To find out more, read ... (insert name of book by Roald Dahl)." This is definitely NOT a must-have if you are looking to complete your collection of Roald Dahl publications, but might be informative if you are interested in knowing random, factual information about the author.

The Timeless Writings of C.s. Lewis, the Pilgrim's Progress; Christian Reflections; and God in the D
The Timeless Writings of C.s. Lewis, the Pilgrim's Progress; Christian Reflections; and God in the D
"The Pilgrim's Regress" comes with the illustrations by Michael Hague, and the "afterward" to the third edition (which is a preface in the paperbacks I have seen). It does not have the brief explanatory guides which come at the beginning of each chapter of those paperbacks. (Some would say that we are better off without them, at least for the first reading.)

"Christian Reflections" is a relatively early collection of papers by Lewis, and it includes the helpful preface by Walter Hooper. It should be good for those who have not yet read many of his papers. I like it as well as any collection I have seen.

"God in the Dock" brings together a selection of essays and other short pieces by Lewis, again with an introduction by Hooper. These are not all as carefully considered as those in Christian Reflections.

There is a great deal of material in this volume --good material to be sure-- but the sheer quantity means that the pages are full, and the typeface is not as large as I would have liked in my old age.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland Book 1)
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland Book 1)
I took a gamble on buying this edition when no one had reviewed it yet. I tried several other Kindle editions available and had found them truly appalling in terms of formatting. This however, is significantly better, featuring well structured chapter breaks and all the original illustrations, which enhance the story a lot.

Furthermore, considering it contains both books, plus the excellent Hunting of the Snark, it is a fantastic price.

However, there are still some glaring mistakes, such as some formatting bugs in a few of the poems and spelling errors in places (such as at the start of Looking Glass, where some of the Ls are replaced with 1s - I guess a scanner did the 'writing here').

5 stars for the great price and superior formatting over the other options. -1 star for the glaring lack of proof reading from the publisher.

“I solemnly sear that I am up to no good.” (ch. 10 pg. 192)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry and his friends through the excitement that is their third year at Hogwarts. In the start of the book, we find Harry doing his homework by flashlight under his bed sheets- as any proof of his time at that wizarding school is forbidden by the Drusley’s. It’s Harry’s birthday and for the first time in his life, he receives birthday cards and presents from his friends Hermione, Ron, and Hagrid. During a visit from Aunt Marge, Vernon and Harry make a deal, if he can keep Hogwarts a secret, Vernon will sign Harry’s permission slip to visit Hogsmead on the weekends. Unfortunately that goes out the window when Marge insults Harry’s family and he accidentally inflates her, whoops. The Knight Bus then picks up Harry after he leaves the house suddenly, but not after seeing something peculiar in the bushes…
The main conflict of this novel is the fact that escaped prisoner Sirius Black is on the loose and dangerous. Dementors have made Hogwarts their home for the year and even made a little pit stop on the Hogwarts Express to make sure Sirius Black wasn’t aboard. While they didn’t find the prisoner on the train, they did find Harry, because of the sorrow and death he has already witnessed the dementors were drawn to him. The mysterious person (who we find out to be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher) is at the ready to produce a Patronus charm, which is used to ward of dementors with a happy memory.
The school year starts and the dementors are not respecting the boundaries that Dumbledore has put into place. They even disrupt a Quidditch match and send Harry flying off of his broom and his Nimbus 2000 into the Whomping Willow. Harry get used to his new classes and the frequent disappearance and reappearance of Hermione as she seems to be taking more class than any average witch or wizard can handle. Third year is when students start taking Divination and it’s not Harry’s favorite subject to say the least. Professor Trelawney often tells Harry he is in grave danger after finding the Grim in his cup, and she becomes overcome with a prophecy when they are alone in the classroom. "It will happen tonight. The Dark Lord lies alone and friendless, abandoned by his followers. His servant has been chained these twelve years. Tonight, before midnight, the servant will break free and set out to rejoin his master. The Dark Lord will rise again with his servant's aid, greater and more terrible than ever before. Tonight... before midnight... the servant... will set out... to rejoin... his master..." (ch.16 pg.324)
The story concludes with Harry, Ron and Hermione using Hermione’s Time Turner to not only save Hagrid’s friend Buckbeak, but also Harry’s innocent godfather Sirius Black, who has spent the last 12 years in Azkaban for a crime he did not commit. With the help of their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (who is also a werewolf!) Remus Lupin; Harry finds out more about his parents past and how their secret keeper and friend Peter Pettigrew betrayed them.
This is easily my favorite Harry Potter book out of the seven. I’d give it ten out of five stars if I could. It introduced me to my favorite character of the series (Remus Lupin) and helped to continue the story of Harry Potter and helped Harry find out more about his parents before they died. He also was reconnected with his godfather and James’ best friend Sirius Black.

Harry Potter NECA Harry & Hedwig Bookends
Harry Potter NECA Harry & Hedwig Bookends
One of the two bookends was damaged when I took it out of the box. Harry's hand and Hedwig's tail were broken off. Very poor quality in that regard. The other bookend was perfectly fine, however, and it does have very well crafted detail in both figures. This would have received a 5 star rating if one of the two bookends hadn't been damaged.

Wonder Forge Ravensburger Pictopia: Harry Potter Edition Family Trivia Board Game For Kids & Adults Age 10 & Up - Perfect Gift for Any Harry Potter Fan!
Our family (2 adults and 2 kids ages 5 and 8) got the Harry Potter Pictopia for Christmas which we loved so we decided to order the Disney version on Amazon. The first time we were sent the older version in the silver box, not the one pictured in the white colorful box. Since Disney changes so often we decided to exchange it and asked Amazon to please send the newer version that is pictured. We are so glad we did because they sent us the new version very quickly with no hassle and it’s awesome! Everything is updated from the pictures to questions and even the board game and pieces. I included pictures of it so you can see what the new one looks like. The box says 7 and up but since we have a younger kid we kind of change the rules a little so everyone can play. We just make it simple and try to ask her questions we think she could get. I like the question choices, they are fairly easy for a Disney aficionado but a little harder for younger ones. However, there are still questions you can find that anyone can answer so it’s really a great game for any group of any ages. You can play by the rules included for older players or just pick cards and ask questions to move along the board for younger players so it’s very versatile. Plus it’s colorful and pretty to look at! Overall it’s a super fun family game and I definitely recommend it to anyone that likes Disney.

Maxone 2TB Ultra Slim Portable External Hard Drive HDD USB 3.0 for PC, Mac, Laptop, PS4, Xbox one - Gold

Muchas gracias,
Harry Potter Sirius Black Wand
Harry Potter Sirius Black Wand
Upon unboxing you are greeted with a beautifully colored box. The color on the picture is a little brighter than the actual color. The curtains are a nice shade of greenish silver, and they blend really well with the red felt cushion that in cases the wand. The actual wand is very detailed, it looks a little off brown, very wooden like. The ingravings (which was made by a mold, as it is made of resin not wood) are very well detailed and clear. The handle is square and as you go up the handle to the shaft there is a mid section that separates the handle from shaft, here you can find the licensing of the noble collection. The shaft swirls and is very well blended with the ingravings on the wand.
In conclusion, it is a wonderful product. It is very fun to hold and wave. My only complete is if you are trying to display it(like I do with my wands) the red in the cushion makes the wand nearly impossiable to see like in a photo. I would recommend this wand to anyone looking to collect, or even play with Harry Potter wands.

Drive to the East: Settling Accounts, Book 2
I agree with many reviewers that the quality of the writing in this installment is an improvement over what Turtledove has done in the past few years. Being addicted to this series, I am very happy to see better plot development and also more depth and personality in the characters, both good and bad guys.

However, it is not for the savoring of the written word that I read Turtledove (for a higher level of writing from him, try "Ruled Britannia"). Turtledove simply has created an enthralling melodramatic saga that, although full of flaws, grabs those of us who enjoy alternate history. Readers actually using these reviews to guide their purchases should know by now not to start the series here. The individual books do not really stand up by themselves. However, as I titled a review of an earlier installment, the Sum is Stronger than the Parts. The same can be said for this book.

From the Yankee viewpoint, this book is the start of a thrilling triumph of the stuff that made the United States in our universe great. At this point, virtually all White Confederates are debased and corrupted and I imagine many Southerners are offended and disgusted. The battle scenes are relatively brief and offer a mixture of heroism and horror. Greater details of the strategic situation both in North America and the rest of the world along with maps would be extremely welcome, but I doubt that Turtledove has any more hard information for us at this time. The most striking part of the book is the Negro holocaust in the making. While it is hard to accept that it could possibly happen here, this plot line is depressing (in the best sense), painful, and gripping. On a lighter note, I enjoy the brief cameos of historical figures whose path in our universe is not even a dream. Being well versed in baseball history, I especially enjoyed seeing the names of two "running backs," Foxx and Greenberg, being used as a soldiers' password (Turtledove even picked the correct phyical types). I am sure that there are many others I missed.

One complaint I do have is Turtledove's dismissal of baseball as a minor sport seldom worthy of comment. The quality of cigarettes from the U.S.A. and the Confederacy seem to be a running joke among my fellow reviewers. Spoiler Warning! I especially enjoyed the scene near the end where the Confederates trapped in the Pittsburg pocket are reduced to smoking U.S. cigarettes.

There are many problems such following too close to the WWII Eastern front template, repetitive dialogue, and scenes stolen from Turtledove's own Days of Infamy. However at the end of the day, most loyal Turtledove fans will feel that they got their money's worth!

My life before this cup was hard. My mother was a house elf with terrible, contagious lice and my dad was a rat who liked to twerk and also had contagious lice. My dad also has diarrhea a lot and the twerk disease.

I never got my letter from Hogwarts and was outraged! I was expecting it when I turned 11 and now I am an 89 year old woman. Ever since I bought this cup I have had beautiful twerking sessions with my dad. Because of this cup I am no longer sad. I have hope that I'll get my letter and I'll proudly twerk my way to Hogwarts.

Thank you, Tervis, for giving this old elfin rat-lady hope again. Even my lice are happier and more hydrated.

The book is descent, I've researched a lot as I am looking to adopt a good book to use in the process of teaching my Brazilian ESOL students. However, I have found small translation mistakes on the book. I have tried to communicate with the author/publisher, but I have not found any information that would lead me to any means of contact. If Portuguese is your first language, you will pick it up too. I believe this was a publishing error, but again, couldn't contact the publisher. I will have to make corrections in class when teaching my students.

VICSEED Car Phone Mount, [Thick Case & Big Phones Friendly] Long Arm Suction Cup Phone Holder for Car Dashboard Windshield Air Vent Hands Free Clip Cell Phone Holder Compatible with All Mobile Phones
First off I'm not an easy person to please. I hold people AND businesses to their WORD.

VICSEED has advertised their suction cup "STRONG SUCTION CELL PHONE MOUNT"

Well, I made sure to test the heck out of this thing in my rugged 1983 Jeep CJ7 that's on 35" Off road tires. And YES, we made sure to go over MANY bumbs, drove up some curbs (watch the attached video) and made sure to really give my jeep a toss around to actually TRY and make this thing come loose. (IT HELD TRUE!)

Okay heres the review:

SUCTION: 5 Stars ALL THE WAY - As seen in my pics I have a 90° Flat steel dashboard. Once I applied the suction cup with the LOCK DOWN clip already on device I could already tell this thing was something different =) I actually gave it a couple good tugs and it didn't budge NOT AT ALL! Dope!

Adjustment Points: 5 Star all the way! - This thing has FOUR different locking points on it! (not counting the phone holder which would make Five)
All of them lock super tight and feel way secure then others I've returned from other companies.

Telescope Feature: Out the box when I seen the telescope feature I immediately thought to myself (yep, this is going to be where it fails FOR SURE...) I WAS WRONG!!! I purposely extended the telescope all the way out and put it straight out 90° from the dashboard and took my Jeep for a drive....I still can't believe it held UP AND HELD THE PHONE TRUE the entire way! 5 Star ALL THE WAY.

Accessories: Vicseed has truly went a step further than their competitors in that they graciously provide you a SUCTION PLATE with 3M adhesive "Just incase you need it" (I didn't, mine is on without this extra item) - Furthermore, they ALSO provide you a VENT CLIP! Keep reading for the Vent clip review =)

Vent Clip Feature: So this is actually my 3rd Vicseed product. I must say, they don't stop amazing me with how "Functional" their phone mounts are. Their vent clip i have already had the opportunity to use prior to this and once again they have the only vent clip that ACTUALLY HOLDS TRUE WITH ZERO MOVEMENT. 5 Star ALL THE WAY.

Conclusion : It performs 100% as advertised, 100% out performs the competition in every aspect, 100% Holds a LARGE HEAVY Samsung Note 10+ (and I even had my heavy magnetic case on and it STILL HELD IT UP. Of course this was a test as why would you have your case on while mounted lol. But important part is it HELD the extra weight!)

If you read down this far in my review to END all reviews then STOP your research because YOU ARE DONE! Take out your credit card and BUY THIS THING! You won't regret it!

Wooden Phone Case (World Map in Mahogany) Compatible with iPhone X, iPhone Xs
I read the feedback on products so i'm trying to write these reviews on things I buy more often.
This was exactly what I was hoping it would be!! I'm big on buying things that use renewable materials and buying things made in the U.S. So I was happy that the product was up to par and the company was great to deal with!! (I ordered for the wrong phone and had to call. Their customer service was awesome! ) I liked so much I bought another case. I def recommend.

The wood is smooth and doesn't sliver. Engraving is good. It isn't cheap and undefined. Case was form fitting and not loose like some cases.

I put iron-on transfers on this true blue tote bag. After ironing the bag it gave a nice canvas texture to my ironed-on art. The size seems close to the description, but I haven't washed these yet to see if there is shrinkage. Nice weight to the material. My only concern is the handles are webbing rather than canvas, so they may not hold up for heavy loads over time, so I might take half a star off for that unknown.

I purchased this product & didn't use it until a few months had passed. At that time it turned out it didn't work (or rather it worked intermittently). I had a usb connected to one of its ports so that I could use my wireless mouse. It would work for less than 5 minutes & turn off. No matter what I did (remove the USB from the dock, turn the computer on & off, unplug the dock and replug it) it would not work.

The second problem came when trying to contact "customer service." Unfortunately, since I had let so much time elapse before I used it I could only get a replacement product. That was okay. I asked for one and it was sent to me and my expense. I accepted that as a consequence of waiting so long. However, then I received a product in the mail that didn't match this one! It was missing the ethernet connection port which was one of the reasons I chose this dock. I brought this to the attention of the seller. They said they no longer had this exact product & to mail this back (at my expense) and they would refund me my money.

At this point, I addressed paying the shipping costs. It was not my fault that they sent me the wrong product. They said that they didn't have to help me at all because of the time lapse. And they gave me a "choice" to refund the shipping cost and only 50% of the product cost or 100% of the product cost and not the shipping.

I mention this because all of my Amazon third-party sellers were good up to this point. This was an unfortunate experience. The quality of the seller in this online environment does have some bearing on the our experience of the product. In this case, I wouldn't recommend either.

Sized accurately, came quickly and looked great on. I got a ton of compliments at our ugly sweater party, however over the course of only maybe 5 hours sitting at a desk/standing and going to lunch, I lost 2 jingle bells that are on the buttons (the snaps that made the buttons functional stayed on with no problem), 5 plastic ornaments, and a 4" piece of tinsel came loose and was sticking out off of the sweater. Be prepared to secure everything after you buy it or to shed throughout the day.

The information in the book is poorly written. Despite some of the information being valuable, it is difficult to follow because the language used tends to drag out the sentence structure. Unless you are someone whose complete life revolves around famous art critics, this book will be painfully dreading at times.

This is our second cuckoo rice maker and we are hooked. When my husband bought the first one I thought that it seemed a bit excessive, but even I turn into a major rice lover because of it. It makes the perfect batch of rice, and it stays good and fresh in there for days. Our first one lasted about three years, which I think is pretty good considering we have it running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unfortunately, I have not learned to use it because it speaks Korean and I do not. My husband could teach me the easy steps of Making the rice Without having to understand what the machine says, but I kind of like having one less task in the kitchen! It’s nice that he can be the one always responsible for rice.

Zan, anís Flavored Regaliz 5 Pack 5 x 12g (5 x 0.4oz)
This licorice does not appear to be available on Amazon, but I ate a fair amount of it while living in France from 2009-2010. If you like a very strong licorice flavor (it says this is Aniseed flavored but I believe it is made with licorice root extract) you'll enjoy it. If you like mild flavors don't even try this one! ZAN also produces a round tin (40 grams) of small pieces of licorice that are made with 50% licorice extract. This thin flat pack tastes the same. It is not at all like Twizzlers or any other licorice product made in the U.S.A., although years ago Y&S made a very hard and strong licorice stick that has similar flavor.
