Managing Leadership Anxiety: Yours and Theirs
Managing Leadership Anxiety: Yours and Theirs
We don't need more leadership books that inspire and instruct and give principles, at least I don't think so. Leadership principles are good to know and learn from, but you really don't know what leadership looks like and feels like until you do it. And leadership will be different based on who you are, who you're leading, and what you're situation is. I say it like this: you can't swim by reading books and going to conferences and watching videos about swimming. Leadership is like swimming; you learn to lead by leading.

This book gives you the insider look into the mind and heart of what a leader actually goes through in her/his thoughts and feelings. That's where the hard work of leadership really happens. Yes, it's a mental game, as they say about tennis or other competitive sports. You may not have the identical reactions and anxiety described in the book. So it is not universal. Knowing the specifics of how the author has experienced anxiety as a part of leading and as a part of being human, is so very helpful to know how to manage the weight and load of leadership that is indeed so intangible.

I'm believing that this book will help a good number of leaders to not burn out and to stay on the path of health and wellness and effectiveness for a lifetime of good healthy impact for those s/he leads.

Oh, my god. What a different approach to character developlement. Kaymes certainly wrote an original story. His humor and style are not like any other. I would highly recommend reading this book. I think he has a lot of potential as an author.

Three Little Birds
Three Little Birds
My husband was having a tough day. With me being in the military we have been apart for the last couple of months, this is just the beginning of the next 3 years that we will be separated. There are certain songs that we love to listen to. A couple of them happen to be in this album. I sent him Three Little Birds to remind him that everything is going to be alright. He loved it. Whenever we listen to this song we think of each other. It was a great gift for no other reason than that I am thinking of him and the kids.
Anthology 1
Anthology 1
Although I wanted all three discs from the Beatles Anthology, it was cheaper to buy them separately. The CDs and quality were fine on all the slightly used discs, and this one included the supplemental book that is pretty much necessary to understand what you are hearing, especially for the early early recordings from the late '50s and pre-'64 formative years. The only complaint I have is that there is too much technical mish-mash with varied recorded versions of the same songs and other miscellany, and you really don;'t know what it's about by simply listening to the recording, you also need to have the corresponding track by track booklet (at least at first). This is probably killer for people who are trivia- and detail-oriented regarding their music, and certainly even moreso regarding a band with such a breakthrough, music-changing cultural style. I eventually found a separate softcover book for all three discs together, but it suffers from the over-detailed effect as well. So if you think you're getting a good smattering of the Beatles entire repertoire, well, that is purely subjective in terms of what you might like or want. I know that we don't play these CDs nearly as much as I thought we might, especially for the songs in the later years.
Live At Woodstock - Exclusive Limited Edition Purple Haze Colored 3x LP Vinyl [Condition-VG+NM]
Live At Woodstock - Exclusive Limited Edition Purple Haze Colored 3x LP Vinyl [Condition-VG+NM]
Live At Woodstock is an essential purchase for Jimi Hendrix fans as far as my opinion goes. The double disc live album was recorded all the way back at Woodstock 1969 and is a great example of Hendrix playing at his best.

The over all sound for the album is pretty clean and sounds great. It sounds better than the average rock album from the time period making it a much easier listen than most. One thing I have noticed though is that it seems that the percussion and rhythm guitar have been edited out of most of the album. You hear them at the start of the record and on a couple of other songs but for the most part all you get is the trio of Hendrix, Mitchell and Cox. It is a strange way to mix the album and will annoy some purists out there. It didn't detract from the experience for me, but it is a bit odd when you notice it.

The actual set list is pretty awesome. You get great versions of the usual hits Fire, Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) and Purple Haze amongst others including Izabella and the now legendary Star Spangled Banner. If anything it proves to be a great compilation of his work and is benefited from the fact that it is a superb live performance.

I personally would recommend this to fans of late '60s rock. It is hard, heavy, very bluesy and sound great. The missing band members is a bit weird but it's not bad enough not to warrant a purchase.
Louis Armstrong And His Friends
Louis Armstrong And His Friends
Nothing needs to be said regarding Louis Armstrong's iconic status as one of the great jazz entertainers of all-time. In his prime, he was the ultimate showman that few of his generation could match. Louis was to the trumpet, what Gene Krupa was to the drums. Tony Bennet and Miles Davis on hand for the moving gospel ballad "We Shall Overcome". It is more of a contemporary sounding cd, and many of the song titles like the Nillsson song "Everybody's Talkin", and John Lennon"s "Give Peace A Chance", makes this offering a different approach musically than anything he has ever attempted regarding a modern approach. It actually works. Loaded with backround singers and what was left of his gravelly voice, you can sense the joy in the fragile Armstrong as he sang from the heart like he always had. His reworking of "What A Wonderful World". complete with a worded intro in my opinion is the albums finest moment. Some Armstrong fans and Jazz purists may have trouble warming up to this recording, but if you keep it in the context that he tried something different, it can grow on you. As a Louis Armstrong fan, maybe this cd has special meaning because it was his last, but it was his parting gift to the musical world and what a gift it is.
Bob Dylan: The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3
Bob Dylan: The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3

We bought these mainly for piña coladas, but have ended up using them for lots of drinks. We liked the simplicity of the base. Nothing too extravagant. The main glass is not too thin and not too thick. After we bought our first 4...we then bought another 4 because they worked so well. Always good to have back up when one breaks. Would for sure buy again.

Power Inverter 500 Watt for Car AC Converter Car Laptop Charger Car Adapter 12V DC to 110V/120V AC Outlet with Dual USB 4.1A and LCD Display
I ran this through its paces for four days and four nights. Worked better then expected. It would let me know exactly where my batteries voltage was at. Also with the LCD's I would know the charge and discharge rate.
I owned three other converter's and the most I get out of them is between 110 and 115 volts Ac. The Fulai the output holds at 120 volts AC with very little oscillation.
The only part that I am somewhat disappointed with is the USB charging. I figured that would be a little stronger. My cell phone took longer to charge then normal. But then it could have been something I was doing. Anyway nothing to complain about.
I do highly recommend this product. It earned the 5 stars.
Jordan Nike Air XXXIII Basketball Shoes
Jordan Nike Air XXXIII Basketball Shoes
Hard to say if it fits as expected. Length is correct, but the shoe is much more narrow than a typical shoe. I wear 10.5-11 and I saw a lot of people saying how narrow these are. So I am happy I chose the 11. I think it feels great. I have large feet and they are not too narrow for me.

But other than the issue with making it ft right because they are narrow... the shoe looks absolutely amazing!! I love these shoes! I find them to be comfortable, and every detail is just beautiful!
Black Panther Woman
Black Panther Woman
This was an awesome eye-opener. The struggle was even Down Under. It seems that the American Black Power movement really resonated with the aboriginal peoples of Oceania and the greater Pacific. Moreover, the women behind The Movement (who were really front and center doing the heavy lifting) had their own struggle on several fronts.

The struggle for liberation truly was global. I never knew of its international dimensions with respect to the BPP (Black Panther Party). Make no mistake- the struggle still continues...

Marvel Legends Series Fantastic Four 6" Collectible Action Figure Human Torch Toy, Premium Design, 4 Accessories, 3 Build-A-Figure Parts
Good figure. Happy to have a version of Johnny where he's in his outfit like the rest of the team. However, it should have been accompanied by more accessories such as an alternate flame-on head to complete the look. Real missed opportunity to make this figure a must-have and staple of the set. Mine came with plenty of paint defects and loose butterfly joints. Somewhat of a miss for me, dog.
Dance to the Piper: The O'Hurleys
Dance to the Piper: The O'Hurleys
This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading these stories again like some that I already have, and I am impatient to read the rest of Nora Roberts' stories right now. Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about family plus inventive, vivid characters, all on top of seriously wonderful love and romance. Each story is about one key person, usual in a family, or close group of friends, they are linked through intricate, messy links and it's almost like a movie you get the privilege of witnessing about these people's powerful, emotional, and often times painful journey towards falling in love. Roberts is one of my most favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in this series. Her unique style and classy, yet moving love scenes, paint a beautiful picture that leaves a person longing for something similar for themselves. All of that is combined into this fantastic series and make this book a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously!! Lol I was nodding off over my book on several different occasions. Worth the price and more to have a Nora Roberts book in your library collection!!!!!!
J. D. Robb In Death Collection Books 1-5
J. D. Robb In Death Collection Books 1-5
I think this is a great collection. Yes it could be cheaper (collections should be cheaper than individual books and not by just a few cents). I kept reading reviews saying that the collection were abridged versions which pissed me off since there was nothing in the descriptions that stated that. I decided to check before I asked for a refund, so I dug through my bookshelves and found my paper copies. I checked seven chapters of the first book and they were word for word. I spot checked another seven chapters just in case and they to were word for word. I spot checked the other four books and found that they too were word for word. I'm not sure how they figure out the kindle pages for individual ebooks vs e-book collections, but it would appear that this collection is unabridged and it has fewer pages then the individual books combined. I think it's probably because the collection doesn't repeat all the info pages at the end of each book, it just has them once at the end of the collection.

The three stories revolve around 3 of 4 sisters who are trying to solve the mystery of some missing family emeralds. Each sisters story while revolving around the emeralds that belonged to their great-grandmother ends up finding the man of their dreams while looking for the emeralds at the same time that a jewel theif is also trying to find the emeralds. A little intrigue, a little mystery and a little romance equals some great reading. You will not want to put the book down.

Home Sweet Murder (ID True Crime, 2)
I bought the book that wasn’t new but still good quality. It had no tears or anything and I’m so excited to read. It’s paperback and not one of James Patterson’s larger hardcover books but one of his short paperback ones. I’m guessing because it’s a non-fiction and not his Novels which I LOVE. 100% recommend if you’re doing the 75 Day Hard challenge. It’s a great book to being the challenge with!

Quick & Dirty Highlights

Even as I write this up-front summary, I've not yet decided how many starts this novella warrants, for me.

I'm nearly gobsmacked, knowing that I actually read a booklet with a main character whom I did not empathize with to even a remote degree. Yet, technically, the writing was excellent, save for that aspect.

What I mean is, the mechanics were good: editing, flow, dialogue and so forth. The main character is well-drawn in terms of believability, at least until the end --- I won't elaborate, lest there be no need for you to read the story. Suffice it to say that I was impressed the the main character, a woman, sounds pretty much like a woman but, the catch is, she is the creation of a male writer; not sure if she is the creation of James Patterson or of James O. Born. At any rate, she's well drawn.

Yet, I never really connected with her or this story.

Length: Print, 144 pages.

Target Audience/Genre:

Q - How was this book obtained?
A - Bought on Amazon.

Q - Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first?
A – Yes. In fact, of the six stories in this series, this is the only one I've read. I do not expect to read any of the previous five.

Q - Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures?
A – No.

Q - Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read?
A – Fast, but, for me, not incredibly fast.

Q - What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made?
A – Adult English. Just one f-bomb (an unnecessary expletive that did nothing artistically to improve the story), but s--t pops up in a number of occasions. Personally, I was not bothered by this, as I would expect any of the characters to utter such mild profanities.

Q - What age group is this suitable for?
A - if this was a film I would be rated PG-13.

Q - My biggest pleasure or disappointment?
A - I just never felt any empathy for any of these characters or the predicament. I was surprised by the ending, but I did have some trouble suspending my disbelief.

I’ve included a small excerpt below, so readers can peruse the style of presentation utilized by the author.

EXCERPT

'Disney World was all I had dreamed it would be. At least the attractions were, anyway. Somehow, when I was a kid, I’d never calculated how many people were crammed into the park every day. Especially on a beautiful Saturday like this. We managed to make it onto most of the rides, though the longest waits were at Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. I might have enjoyed a trip to the Magic Kingdom more when I was eleven, but being here today with Marty was really special too. Maybe the most important thing was that I realized how carefully Marty had listened to me and how badly he wanted to see me happy. This guy would do anything for me, and no one had ever made me feel like that before.

Walking hand in hand with Marty made me feel like no matter what choices I had made, I had the right man in my life now. He was just what I needed.

But after lunch my mood started to change. It began with the salesman from the Bentley dealer calling Marty and asking how he liked the car. Marty handled it perfectly, telling the salesman we were still undecided but we’d bring the car back later this afternoon. As Marty stuffed the phone back into his front pocket, he smiled at me and said, “I just won’t answer the phone again until we’re about to drop the car off.”

The call had brought me back to reality, and my problems were no longer a world away. I started thinking about the court hearing and that pompous ass Brennan. While we were floating in our boat through It’s a Small World, I noticed our conversation had turned darker as well.

Out of nowhere Marty said, “Disney makes a fortune separating people from the real world and the ugliness around them.”

"Whoa, what brought that on?” The little girl in front of us had been peeking behind the seat since the ride had started. She might not have understood what he was saying, but she picked up on Marty’s attitude and quickly twisted around to sit low in her seat, out of sight.

Our conversation drifted back to normal, Magic Kingdom–related topics as we shuffled our way through the Haunted Mansion and Frontierland. Once we landed in comfortable seats and under air-conditioning at the PhilharMagic 3-D, with no one sitting close to us, I acted on the urge to kiss him.

Marty said, “I’m glad you’re having a good time. I’m sorry you missed out on Disney...'

Bottom Line:

For my personal interests, this would merit three stars, as I didn't enjoy it even a little. Others, though, especially women who have an axe to grind with someone, this would probably rate four stars.

Thus, I'm charitably awarding four stars out of five.

Comments regarding your opinion of this book or of my review, whether favorable or unfavorable, are always welcome. If you buy the book based on my review and become disappointed, especially, I do want to know that and I want to understand how I can improve as a book reviewer. Just please be polite.

Thank you.

Deadly Obsession (Harlequin Romantic Suspense Book 1897)
In book five of the Devil’s Shroud series, Chance McCall is a former Army Ranger and suffering from a bad case of PTSD. His work as a Stealth Ops Specialist is top secret, and he’s not looking for a permanent relationship with a woman. On leave to attend his friend’s wedding in a quaint seaside town, he meets Jillian Taylor and his plans for a relaxing vacation quickly unravels.
Jillian is planning her best friend’s wedding, working as a real estate agent, and renovating her new house all at the same time. Even though several townspeople claim ghosts haunt the old Thompson place, she bought the decrepit Victorian house to make it into a real home. After a few accidents, Jillian realizes someone isn’t happy about her plans for the house. Luckily for her, Chance steps in to help. The danger grows as they work together to solve the mystery of a once-missing child and to stop the attacks on Jillian’s life, but the attraction between them sparks hotter than any threat.
What a great story! The romance between Chance and Jillian bloomed fast but felt believable. Both characters have a rough past and are still dealing with their personal traumas, which made them likable and relatable.
I haven’t read the previous books in the series, but some of the past heroes and heroines returned for this book, including Nova and Molly who are getting married. Most of the townspeople are kind, cranky, or kooky, and all of them have their own charm.
Other than a few minor typos, the story was fast paced and well written. I really enjoyed this book and would like to read more from Ms. James.

ho acquistato l'ultima parte 7.1 e 7.2 in edizione diversa.
Night Wolf
Night Wolf
I do not have too much to write. I would like a sequel to Night Wolf. The first Night Wolf so was good that a person wants some more of the story done in the same style and exploring the same likable characters further. I liked that Night Wolf had different dynamics than the usual story. A group of siblings, instead of unrelated friends, must confront some very ugly and monstrous goings-on around them. The movie resembles The Hamiltons, The Gate, or Flowers in the Attic to some extent. And, these kids are not the usual morons that the Scream franchise mocks for appearing in horror film after horror film. No, these youths are as thoughtful and erudite as the protagonists in April Fool's Day. These characters are as resourceful as the final girl in Halloween or You're Next, yet they are realistically scared "witless" as anyone would be in their circumstances.
I liked that Night Wolf does not show the wolf too much. BUT, it does not spare viewers brief glimpses at the monster's great carnage. The audience's imagination gets to scare the hell out of the audience. I like that.
I liked the performances. I liked the violence and nudity. I liked the mystery and suspense throughout. I liked the after-credits scene foreshadowing a possible sequel. Generally, I liked Night Wolf. You might too.
Star Smashers Of the Galaxy Rangers
Star Smashers Of the Galaxy Rangers
I am prompted to write because I just finished reading a comparable book, Douglas Adams' Hitch Hikers' Guide to the Galaxy, after hearing the radio shows many years ago. THHGTTG doesn't make its way into prose very well, and seems really dated.
By contrast, Harrison's is really sharp satire, and he uses the liberties that science fiction gives him to make his points with great force and absurd humour.
If we discover a species is stupider than we first thought, can we eat them? Who should one side with in a war; a cruel democracy or a kind dictatorship? And when does hero-worship cross the line into homoeroticism?
Harrison raises issues of politics, racism, sexism and a thousand other touchy subjects in a hilarious and outrageous book.
The galaxy's star-fleet being led by a souped-up 747 is a delightful image which sticks in my mind from this book.
Oh, and I think Harrison raided his legal textbooks to name the aliens. A garnishee is a claim you can make over someone's wages or property, and Lord Percy was an English Judge.
This book deserves to be in print again....and, especially, tobe made into a high-budget movie.

Power Rangers Ninja Steel DX Rumble Tusk Megazord Action Figure
My 4-year-old gathered all of his birthday money (and more!) to buy this toy that he had coveted for a while. It is not inexpensive, but I have to say it looks like excellent quality. The pieces snap together solidly and yet are reasonably easy to assemble and disassemble. Thanks!
How Cars Work
How Cars Work
I'm a recent mechanical engineering graduate and I (embarrassingly) was never that familiar with car engines. I perform all basic maintenance myself, but have never really done any in-depth repairs out of a combination of laziness and unfamiliarity with engines. Learning the basic 4-stroke engine cycle is one thing, but knowing how an engine and entire automobile is put together is a whole 'nother story.

If you are totally unfamiliar with vehicle engines, or have some knowledge but are no expert mechanic by any means, I HIGHLY suggest purchasing this book. It follows a "one page per component" format, meaning every single page in the book is dedicated to a different component. I feel it's the perfect combination of being brief enough to make it easy to read and follow along, but detailed enough so that you really understand HOW components function, just just simply "what they do".

The book covers all aspects of how cars work, not just engines. It goes into the steering system, powertrain, cooling system, brakes and parking brakes, electrical system, you name it! Obviously, with only one page dedicated to every component, you aren't going to get into the math/physics behind everything. Each page consists of, generally, statements about the component, its function, and how it interacts with other components to perform its intended function.

I'm extremely glad that I purchased this book. If you want to have any idea (or a better idea) of what a mechanic or anyone else is talking about next time you hear the words "differential", "U-Joints", "cylinder head", etc., then buy this book!

I enjoy the preppie look of these four plaid rolls of gift wrapping paper. I've yet to use them, but they should be very useful for some stylish and imaginative gift wrapping during the holiday season. The rectangular carton in which they were delivered has come in handy as a holder for all of my other rolls of gift wrapping paper, and I look forward to using them as part of a potentially colorful Christmas season this year.
Living With Christ - US Edition
Living With Christ - US Edition
I subscribe to "Living with Christ" 2 years ago even if I owned a Vatican II Missal because of its portability. I've cherished it ever since. First of all it always has beautiful religious art on the cover and I have saved some of them. Inside you will find an editorial that gives you an idea of the theme of the month's readings are. That is followed by an article on the Gospels. The magazine always has an inspirational piece by a known saint or writer.

To enrich worship, Living with Christ offers a preparation for Sundays that families can meditate on each week. There are also household rituals that bring the celebrations of the liturgical year into our homes.

"Liturgical Link" section contains explanations of the Mass and the "Living our Faith" section is writing that builds on the theme and the elements of our faith. They are usually written by saints/contemplatives.

Also included are morning and evening prayers, articles by priests, religious and other people of faith, and two explorations of the Scriptures which is suitable for individuals or group use.

Finally, it has the Eucharistic Liturgy with all the prayers the priest recites during Mass so readers can follow along, the weekly intercessions, and the daily readings and Gospel for the entire month including feast days and holidays. Sprinkled throughout the issue are quotations from saints that relate to the day's readings.

This magazine is a must for people who want to keep up with the readings of the daily Mass either in church, at home, or at work. I bring my issue on vacation with me. The large print is very easy on the eyes. The plastic cover is an added bonus with built in book marker. Living with Christ also includes an Easter Triduum issue.

Customer support is non-existent. You'll spend a month of emails with no advice in the end. Just links to existing FAQs. You may think you're smart enough not to need their support, but there may come a day when you'll need to TALK to someone at this place. And you simply will not be able to. A phone call would have cleared up an as-shipped problem in 10 minutes. You'll find ports 9-12 totally broken and inop out of the box, and no way to fix them. The other ports work as advertised, so you're really getting an 8 port router (2 of which are taken up with WAN). Please plan for that as the docs do NOT cover it, and email support can take months to get your point across.

Another big big issue - not all POE is the same. Older devices used 24V POE, which this device uses. Modern APs and cameras use 48V, which this unit does NOT support even with a different power supply. So if you're adding new APs or cameras, you'll have to forgo the POE on this thing, and ether-jump it to another switch that does support 48V - which most do nowadays. Just pray you don't need the manufacturer's support for anything, big or small.

Mentos - Rollo de regaliz, 2 rollos
If you like licorice, try them. These two rolls started me buying even more. They are great. Everyone who has accepted one as an offer has said "Hey, that's really good. Where did you find them?". Menthos has two flavors I like, those being Spearmint and this Licorice. The Peppermint is okay, but I am happy they these are available through Amazon. No one has ever turned one down after they tried one. Get these marketed and they will outsell all other Menthos offerings. If you like Licorice I think you will be surprised, pleasantly surprised.
