How I Lost 170 Million Dollars: My Time as #30 at Facebook
How I Lost 170 Million Dollars: My Time as #30 at Facebook
Everyone in the UK has heard about Facebook and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg. But how many have heard of Noah Kagan, one of the whizzkids who worked with Zuckerberg while the company was still trundling along the runway?

This is a fascinating insider account into Kagan's all-too-brief time at the company in its start-up days and is replete with insights into the student-vibe corporate culture of the web sensation that Facebook became.

It also confirms much of what many of us know or heard of Zuckerberg, the ostensible kid genius... Not everything about him is commendable; to me, Zuckerberg appears ruthless in his dealings with other human beings which, of all his manifold attributes, is a horrible ingredient in his success.

Kagan, for his part, is refreshingly self-deprecating (which is so un-American for an American). And very commendably, he refuses to mope or harbour spite over his dismissal from Facebook. If anything, the experience appears to have focussed his energies on becoming what he now is: one of the top two or three experts within a small pantheon of world-class online marketers.

In fact, it was through reading his blog that I discovered his web marketing genius - and generosity towards his readers; the book and his time with Zuckerberg were later discoveries.

In any case, I can only commend this book as a 5 star experience. I know giving it 4 might have added some balance to all the glowing reviews over on the US Amazon, but I can only be honest about this. 5 stars it is!

Unusual. I enjoyed the originality of this short story. A thought-provoking and amusing read. I will never look at a vegetable patch - or flat leafed parsley - the same way again.

Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix (Piña Colada)
Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix (Piña Colada)
It was actually really good
I can't tell why Amazon is selling Herbalife, but it seemed legitimate.
It's cheaper to buy it all on Amazon. My cousin gets his from a person who sells Herbalife. He spends 500+ on all his products a month. I spends 200 tops, if that, for all of the same stuff he gets. Pills, teas, shakes, protein powder for the shakes. You name it. I have been losing weight. It is best to use the protein powder in the shakes because it'll make you more full. I tried for a week without it and I was so cranky from being hungry (2 shakes a day for me). After adding the powder to them I felt a whole lot better. The tea is a big must for me. It helps keep the mindless snacking away. Which is a huge problem for me. I topped off at 375lbs. In about 3 months I'm at 300. So I'm happy.

I used to do beach body and wasn't losing any weight. I did it for 6 months. Including their work outs with their shakes. Nothing. I lost maybe 5lbs. Other than that I was gaining a pound here and there. They have so much unnecessary crap in their products that it causes so many issues. Sibo, infertility, migraines, the list goes on and on.

I am always skeptical of weight lost products, but since seeing my cousin who was 400lbs get down to 190 in a year... It changed my mind about them.

Obviously portion control and working out is a must, but I think shakes with all the vitamins and protein you need in them is awesome.
AIMS Power 2500 Watt Modified Sine Power Inverter with Battery Cables, 5000 Watt Surge Peak Power, and AC Outlets.
AIMS Power 2500 Watt Modified Sine Power Inverter with Battery Cables, 5000 Watt Surge Peak Power, and AC Outlets.
Minus one star for value, many other 'made in China / Asia ' inverters are priced lower. Also the warranty is only 1 year.
Minus one star for "Tech Support" while they did answer in a timely manner, the person I spoke to didn't know how a mA (milliamp) related to an A (amp). I give the no load current draw as 801 mA and he asked me to give that to him in Amps (no kidding). He also stated the two AC outlets ' receptacles ' were not wired together. See photo, they clearly are.

Now for the parts I liked:
Quality aluminum case for heat dissipation.
Output measured 120.0VAC using a Fluke True RMS meter. It did not change with a light (100W) load.
Versatile LED display with voltage, DC amps or KW output.

The Amazon description for this states the ' no load ' current draw is <0.2A but was measured at 801 mA with 13.5VDC applied and a Fluke mA meter, series connected.
I noted an LM317T pass type voltage regulator in the unit for the 5V supply. These are old school regulator that waste a lot of power. Sure enough, it was a warm running device. The design could be improved but this is generally acceptable for my application of this product.

I will update when able my findings after this is deployed in the RV.
Kratts' Creatures Season 2
Kratts' Creatures Season 2
At our house, we LOVE the Kratt Brothers. Chris and Martin have made the following TV shows for kids:

KRATTS’ CREATURES (1996 50 episodes)
This was the first wildlife show geared specifically towards young children. We have not seen this show, but we were huge fans of the spinoff Zoboomafoo.

ZOBOOMAFOO (1999-2001 65 episodes)
My kids grew up on this show. Why it only ran for two seasons is beyond me. The show features the Kratt brothers along with a talking lemur named Zoboomafoo. I read once that the Kratt Brothers' real purpose in making this show was not so much to expose kids to animal facts but to turn them into lifelong conservationists. It worked. The Kratt Brothers impacted a generation with this show, including my kids.

BE THE CREATURE (3 seasons 30 episodes)
This is the best animal show ever made for children. It is an absolute travesty that only Season 1 (13 episodes) ever made it onto DVD. (Season 2 had 16 episodes. Season 3 had 1 episode.) In each episode, Chris and Martin do an in-depth exploration of one species. While they don’t generally say so, it is clear that they are working with dedicated experts in the field. They actually physically go to where these animals are and spend the entire episode just on this one species. It is incredibly informative. For example, we visit two separate troops of Japanese Macaques. We watch as one troop washes potatoes in the ocean to clean off dirt, culturally learned behavior. We see a second troop enjoy hot baths amidst the snow, behavior picked up from observing humans and then again transmitted culturally. Note that this show pulls no punches and thus is best for older children.

Season 1
1 Brown Dog
2 African Wild Dog
3 African Lion
4 Japanese Macaque
5 Lemur
6 Manatee
7 Coastal Creature
8 Chimpanzee
9 Banded Mongoose
10 Mexican Free-Tailed Bat
11 Great White Shark
12 Gelada Baboon
13 Eastern Gray Kangaroo

WILD KRATTS (2011-2019 5 seasons 138 episodes; more seasons are planned)
Combining animation and live action, the Kratt Brothers have really outdone themselves with this show. Bringing together techniques learned on their other shows, the Kratt Brothers engage young viewers in this fast-paced show, teaching them about animals and how to make a difference. This show aired when my children were no longer young; we loved it and watched it anyway. It is really good, very engaging.
Thor: Tales of Asgard
Thor: Tales of Asgard
I recently watched the animated “wolverine: X-men” complete series and absolutely LOVED IT! I also watched the animated DR. Strange and really really liked it’s. But this movie is an Asgardian hot mess of garbage.

The first 10 minutes of the movie depicts Thor as a guy who loses every fighting match in a public ring except for the fact that the people who fight him let him win, and he’s too dumb to know that. He verbally beats down lady Sif in a very nasty tone and then gets his ass handed to him by her. He verbally berates his Warriors Three in public and comes across as an indulgent emotional snot.

Thor in the comics can come across as arrogant but his prowess as a fighter is why. The man can fight. He also doesn’t treat his friends as if they are dirt beneath his feet. He’s soo unlikable in this movie it’s hard to watch. And it doesn’t get much better. In fact all of the characters are unlikable and unfun.

Some people love this movie. I was not one of them. This is just one humble females opinion.
OPI Nail Polish, Nail Lacquer, Browns, 0.5 fl oz
OPI Nail Polish, Nail Lacquer, Browns, 0.5 fl oz
The color looks much better on the nails than in the bottle. I got the bottle and thought hmm looks kind of dull. But none the less I polished my nails with it, and it looks way better on the nails. So don't judge it from the bottle! I really like this brand of polish, or this formula I should say. It went on very easy AND I was able to do two and three coats without it looking too thick. I did let each layer dry for several minutes before apply another coat. It also dried faster than I expected. I love that the color is so neutral, and it's a great color for everyday wear. I didn't apply a topcoat to it, and it still had a bit of a shine without one. The nail color has chipped some, not terrible but I have been doing tons of dishes, plus like I said I did not apply a topcoat. So I'm guessing with a good topcoat it will last much longer! I don't own too many OPI nail brands, but will definitely check them out more because I really do like the formula goes on nicely and no clumping or looking too thick when doing more than one coat. so yup good stuff.
Delta Force Rescue (Brotherhood Protectors Book 15)
Delta Force Rescue (Brotherhood Protectors Book 15)
This is the 15th book in the Brotherhood Protectors series by Elle James, and I’m just as excited by it as I was the 1st - 14th! I absolutely love this series. Briana Hayes is a Social Worker who finds trouble helping a woman and her baby. She calls her brother, a Delta Force soldier who gets in touch with the Brotherhood Protectors. Rafe Donavan contacts her on orders from his boss, Hank Patterson who is head is the Brotherhood Protectors. Rafe, a former Delta teammate of Briana’s brother, takes on the assignment and connects with Brianna not only to protect her, but they also start to fall for each other while facing danger. Elle has a brilliant talent for writing these books so that there is just the right amount of romance, humor, banter, excitement and action. Definite must read.
Serenity (2019)
Serenity (2019)

Okay, now that you have been warned, I will explain to you the plot. It's so sad that so few people seem to be able to follow a complicated plot these days-- the old crime thrillers thrived on the audience being able to follow something that is not spelled out for them, but that skill is lost these days. Even after this movie completely spelled out what is going on.

This is what happens in the plot of the movie, in time order:

A young man, John, is happily married with a kid son. Then he goes off to war in Iraq and is killed. His wife remarries a local construction kingpin, who becomes abusive to both the woman and her son. Her son is brilliant and hides away in his room every day programming his computer. He eventually creates a computer game about fishing (in remembrance of a great memory of fishing with his father) and populates the game with artificial intelligences (AI). The program is so good that these AIs become self-aware and think they are real people living in a real world (like the Matrix, or the Truman Show, or The Sixth Sense, the main character doesn't know what the real deal is until the end).

Eventually this kid becomes so disturbed at the violence of his father that he changes the game and inserts AI versions of his mom and his stepdad into the program, and then has the mom try to bribe the real dad (the AI dad in the program) to kill the AI stepdad. The greatly disturbed the operating system of the game, which is also self aware (represented in the program by a dorky guy with a briefcase). It tries to contact the AI version of the dad and convince him not to kill the stepdad, and instead to return to the original mission of catching a fish, and also tries to put road blocks in his way. The AI dad (the main character) forces out of the operating system AI the truth that they are all AI consciousnesses, not in the real world. Although he struggles to accept this, he decides to go ahead and perform the new mission of the son, to kill the stepdad, since the son is his creator. He eventually convinces the operating system to embrace this cause too, since after all they are all just doing the will of their creator.

So they succeed at killing the AI stepdad, and this inspires the kid to go kill his stepdad in the real world. In the end, the kid is in jail but has access to his computer, and he designs an AI version of himself and inserts it into the game, and the movie closes with him embracing his (dead, but now AI) dad. Perhaps they will live happily, or only until someone switches off the computer.

So many fascinating philosophical issues involved. If you realize you are an AI, and the creator is not a good and just creator but a messed up kid, are you duty bound to do the will of your creator? Or is there a higher law that binds you to do the right thing, even above the kid-creator? One of the AIs in the game, the second mate of the ship, argues that they must be faithful to a higher moral call-- but argues this on the basis that there is a creator. But he doesn't know the creator of their world is a messed up kid, not omnipotent. Could it be that he knows somehow in his heart that there is an even higher creator than the kid, a true Creator of the world that contains the kid? After all, the kid lives in the real world and knows about religion. Another question: does the AI dad have free will? Is he responsible for the kid in the real world committing murder? Or did the kid program him to do his will, without a choice? The movie seems to indicate that the kid was waiting to see what his AI-dad would do before making his own decision.

Some reviewers have complained that the opening of the movie is cartoonish--the AI dad is clearly cartoonishly copying the plot of Moby Dick; the AI mom is a caricature of a film noir vamp. But that is because they are the cartoonish creations of a 12-year-old! That's the point-- the whole "world" is a Matrix-like world, the creation of a smart but emotionally crippled child. The really interesting thing to ponder is what if you realized one day you were in that Matrix world.

This type of "what is real?" movie and "would I know the world was a mirage?" has become a genre, including the Matrix, the Sixth Sense, and the Truman Show. One could also put the old movies Gaslight and Walter Mitty (not the recent version) in this category. Serenity, the Matrix, and the Truman Show all ask the question, what if the creator isn't good? In the Matrix and the Truman Show, the main character fights against the creator (who, after all, is not the total Creator but only a sub-creator of a limited world), while in this movie the main character acquiesces to the will of the (deranged) creator of his world. There is an odd meta-nesting: he recognizes that he isn't real, but realizes that there was a real dad who loved his kid before he died, and he takes pity on the kid, trying to parent him by becoming what that real dad could have been-- even though the kid is his creator.

So fascinating. Too bad that so many people couldn't follow it. It will be discussed in philosophy classes for years to come.
Spring Collection: A Novel (I'll Take Manhattan Book 2)
Spring Collection: A Novel (I'll Take Manhattan Book 2)
I'v read most of Judith Krantz's books and loved them. But this one was terrible. It was not written by the Judith Krantz I know and loved. I read 52 percent of the book and just couldn't finish it was so boring and vulgar. I kept hoping it would get better but it didn't. If this is the way she writes now I will never buy another one.
The Sins of Herod
The Sins of Herod
The usual great imagery is conjured up through the words of this very talented author. I have several books in this series and love losing myself in the atmosphere the author manages to create as the stories weave themselves around the characters in the Bible, bringing them very much alive. I'm always amazed at the chronological and bibliographical accuracy with which he writes. I started reading these books as a young teenager, and am still reading them in my fifties! It's great that Amazon can do a search and locate for out of print books too.
Untamed Pellucidar (The Wild Adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs Series Book 7)
Untamed Pellucidar (The Wild Adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs Series Book 7)
Combining Alternate History with Pulp Adventure, Untamed Pellucidar imagines a massive Soviet incursion into ERB's prehistoric Hollow Earth through the North Pole entrance introduced in Tanar of Pellucidar and Tarzan At The Earth's Core. Most of the focus is on a young paleontologist turned conscripted soldier Kirov, an unassuming young man who has learned to survive the turmoil of the genesis years of the Soviet Union by keeping quiet and meek. Cut off from his massacred unit and enslaved, the book follows his ascent from slave to powerful war chief/Wizard over several tribes. There are several subplots, the most amusing of which follows the efforts of "Edgar Rice Burroughs" to stymie the Soviet incursion into Pellucidar. Given how the real Edgar Rice Burroughs was a huge opponent of Communism, I think he would have been amused and delighted to see his fictional self (often featured in his own stories) high on the Most Wanted List of Enemies of the Soviet Union, with mentions of how much Stalin wants him dead.

The Pellucidar novels are my favorite works of ERB, and I was ecstatic to see a new novel set in my favorite world of adventure. The only real faults I found with it were that the chapters were often too short, helping the story to speed along at a good pace, but also making it hard to get to know the characters at times.

Unlike the usual swashbuckling action scenes found in ERB's novels, Untamed Pellucidar reads more like Military Science Fiction with it's depictions of battles between increasingly growing armies of prehistoric warriors. This may or may not be a turn off for some fans of ERB's adventures, but personally I liked it.

The book doesn't end with a cliffhanger, but it's obvious that the story is not complete yet. A new novel is promised, and I am looking forward to it.
Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Crossbody Purse
Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Crossbody Purse
This purse is for a small child or preteen. It has a black lining that makes it difficult to see the contents inside. The mouth of the bag does not open wide; the zipper will scratch your hand and arm. There are no exterior pockets on the front or back of the purse; and there are no interior pockets inside the purse. This bag is cute as a novelty but not as a daily functioning purse. I bought this bag for my 15 year old daughter who is a HP fan but it was returned for the reasons stated.
Harry Potter Hogwarts Alumni Juniors Knapsack
Harry Potter Hogwarts Alumni Juniors Knapsack
I love this bag but I wish there were more than one style. When I tried to find a Ravenclaw bag everything was very juvenile or didn't look good. I love the look and durability of this bag and even though the item description doesn't specifically say it's a Gryffindor bag it is. It has the Gryffindor crest on the flap and the letter G with the word Gryffindor underneath it on one of the bottom pockets. I wish they made the same bag in the other houses as well. I bought a lot of Ravenclaw and Harry Potter pins to cover all the Gryffindor items but with the colors it's still obviously for Gryffindor.

I don't know why someone answered the question about drawstrings saying there are not. There is MOST DEFINITELY a drawstring used as the closure for the main pouch!

Aside from lack of design option the biggest flaw are the snaps. I had the main snap and one of the pockets snaps fall off within a few weeks. I superglued them back on and they have held thus far, it's been about a month and a half. I also don't like the fact that two bottom pockets are snaps. It's not very safe when I'm on the train and bus as they are easily opened and even when closed there is a space gap that is shown so small things could potentially fall out if the bag fell over. I just keep things like snacks in it so I don't lose anything important, but it would be much nicer if they were zippered so I could keep other things in them.

Horrible quality shirt. It’s see through because it’s so thin and the chemical smell is terrible. I was giving this as a Christmas gift and was super embarrassed when I saw the quality. I would not recommend.

Gorilla White 100 Percent Silicone Sealant Caulk, Waterproof and Mold & Mildew Resistant, 10 ounce Cartridge, White, (Pack of 1)
Bought the silicone sealant for my kitchen sink. Spent 45 minutes preparing the surfaces before applying the silicone. Was expecting it to dry to a touch after 30 minutes as stated on the label, but the silicone was still sticky and soft after 24 hours. It finally dried after 3 days, but did not have a solid consistency like my other branded silicone. After checking the date code I found that my tube of silicone was manufactured more than 12 months ago, so it was outside it useful shelf life.

Amazon gave a full refund after I returned it, but the hours I put in for the job was wasted.

ESR Sidekick Series Case with Screen Protectors Compatible with iPhone 12 Pro Max 6.7-Inch [2 Glass Screen Protectors] [Ergonomic Protective Case] [Shock-Absorbing Corners] – Clear
I recently bought a spigen clear case for my iPhone 12 pro max but that case just felt loose and the volumes buttons were flushed and not raised so it just felt weird. I was hesitant on getting this case because of the cheap price, but I am so glad I decided to get this one and returned my other one. This case has raised buttons so you can feel the buttons on the side plus the grip of this phone is not sleek or slippery. Plus it comes with a screen protector and a guide to place the screen protector which is a plus! I can’t believe the price of this phone because I’m all honesty it is worth more.
CapillusUltra Mobile Laser Therapy Cap for Hair Regrowth - NEW 6 Minute Flexible-Fitting Model - FDA-Cleared for Medical Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia - Great Coverage
CapillusUltra Mobile Laser Therapy Cap for Hair Regrowth - NEW 6 Minute Flexible-Fitting Model - FDA-Cleared for Medical Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia - Great Coverage
According to info in the package:
0-3 months = no visible difference
3-6 months = decrease in hair loss & initial results
12 months = visible results & fuller appearance
24 months = fuller, healthier hair & continued maintenance

- The laser fixture itself is an inset in a regular baseball cap. It can be easily removed and put into just about any other cap if you want to.
- Charge its power supply overnite, then it's pretty plug and play
- Lasers will not emit if hat is not on head, it gives an error/reminder buzz
- The 6 min treatment time is built in, the lasers will shut off by themselves.
- If you have any hair, you probably won't be able to see the lasers on
- Does warm the head a little. The leftover feeling is like a bit of stiff sunburn and that feeling lingers for hours, but it is in no way painful or even uncomfortable (to me).
- Made in USA from foreign-sourced materials
- Comes with a firm shell case w/handle. 4 different types of plugs for different countries, and a shoulder strap.

I looked into this because I'd never seen "FDA Cleared" as opposed to "FDA Approved". The FDA's "cleared" designation is when a new product shows evidence that their product is the same as another product already on the market. It does not mean that the FDA has actually tested the new product. This cap is considered a Class 2 device, which means it does not have to be approved since it's only moderately risky.

There is a 'watchdog' group for claims made in advertising, called NAD. In 2018 NAD referred this product to the FDA because of false advertising claims. Specifically:
1. "Clinically proven to regrow hair" - Capillus ran no clinical trials, but instead used the trials of another laser hair growth device (by another company)
2. "physician-recommended" and "preferred choice of doctors worldwide" - 3 out of the 5 testimonials were for Capillus 272 which is a predecessor to the 82/202/pro, and the 2 other testimonials referred to the general benefits of laser therapy in treating thinning hair. Capillus also has no evidence of any doctor survey being done.
3. " known adverse side-effects..." typically that claim requires a study of the actual product. NAD felt that just because no complaints had been reported to the FDA at the time didn't mean there was no potential harm.

The current packaging does include 3 "testimonials" from Doctors, but none of the 3 refer to this product or any of its similar models. It does indicate there has now been a study done but using the CapillusPro and it was only 17 weeks long with no number of participants mentioned.

There is TINY, light grey print with info about skin types. Now I think I know why my noggin feels sunburnt. A couple of the pix are info about warranty (why would they print that so light and tiny you can't see it, I wonder) and "the fine print" regarding skin type classifications. I wouldn't have even thought to check that.

Some of the existing products available now are in the form of a comb. Some products have to be used for 30 mins, every other day. For me, 6 mins a day wearing a hat doesn't get in my way at all. That's a major plus, I have to admit.

Still, I'm unimpressed with the marketing shenanigans. If the product works, they didn't need to do that. Obviously a review for this is going to take a long time, so for now I'm giving it 3 stars based on the older exaggerated claims and all the tiny, light print. I'll be taking "before" and at each milestone pix and updating this.

Samsung Galaxy M31s (Mirage Blue, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage)
Samsung Galaxy M31s (Mirage Blue, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage)
Honest review for a Honest Samsung phone. I am writing this review after using M31s for more than half month. And my verdict based on truly improved Samsung M series with my experience & tested after usage only.

Superior, as it matches any S series flagship premium in classy look, strong built for this budget amount. My hand is small but still I found 6.5 inches display is good to handle as it is well managed for one hand use also.

With Samsung SuperAmoled display you can truly trust the amazing view angle. Now in M31s feature of Widevine L Certification you can enjoy all those global Dolby theatre experience. I found it reliable for my 1920p to 4k level of movie watching without any distraction due to Infinite O display which gives Full Screen Ratio. Fingerprint on side is much faster than I expected. It doesn't takes a second also to open. Even FaceUnlock is faster.

Main benefit of this midrange M series is it's maasive 6000mAh battery which gave me enough juice for nearly 3 days continuously. Tested.

This time M series did a honest job by giving us a INTELLI camera of 64 mwgapixel with Single Take feature. Samsung gives what it advertises. Which made me to stick to Samsung brand. My usage of Camera is high & I found no complaints at all in focusing a shoot. Good color saturated. Well bright night shots. Macro shots r OSM. The depth & clarity of 64 megapixel is more developed in this M31s model. So no complaints.

After using for more than half month I must say, Exynos 9611 works wonderful liquid speed when it is combined with LPDDR4X RAM technology. I have not faced any lag in PUBG or ASPHALT-9 hight end games, in medium setting which is good for battery saving. So 2.3Ghz speed accomplished. No complaints for the budget spent.

After using for hours I found the Speaker this time Samsung made is much improved with Bass Stereo which was missing earlier. The in-ear delivers your ear the pure Dolby Atmos with clear precision and crystal clear bass effect.

Bang for the bucks go for it. Thanks Amazon for Safe delivery.

UPDATE 5/25/12:
My new ZyWall USG 50 was functioning perfectly for a week, and tech support even answered e-mails. However, my cable modem went bad, so I cannot be 100% sure the the problems that I had were related to the RV042. Needless to say, the ZyWall has a superior interface, and I do appreciate at how they provide support, rather than a phone number that just disconnects you after you are on hold for some time, and a website for which it's not easy to simply send an e-mail to support with the S/N.

I raised the review to 2 stars to indicate that the product might work, and given that it's the least expensive for what it claims to do.

I just got the product today and spent way too much time trying to make the most basic functionality work. I am thoroughly puzzled as to why I cannot get the RV042 to recognize my cable ethernet connection, while it recognizes the dsl connection just fine. I tested the cable connection and it works fine connected directly to a laptop. The system summary page only shows for the cable modem. The Release and Renew buttons are there when the wire is connected, so I know the router sees the wire. I even wasted lots of time upgrading to the latest firmware and resetting to factory settings, both of which just wasted lots of time. i then tried to open a support ticket with Cisco, but that is not easy, as I spend tons of time registering, and to enter a support ticket, I have to register again! and the system does not recognize me. It is amazing how much time this router has cost me. So right now, the router does not do anything more than my existing wireless router for me. If I can't get this feature to work, I'm returning this product.

To make matters worse, I must have tried for 30 minutes to create a support account, and I finally just got this message:

So, I ordered a Netgear Dual Wan to see if that works any better. Scratch, going to try the "ZyXEL ZyWALL USG50 Internet Security Firewall with Dual-WAN, 4 Gigabit LAN/DMZ Ports, 5 IPSec VPN, SSL VPN, and 3G WAN Support".

I found some tech support conversation that recommended lowering the MTU and disabling the SPI, and, arghhh....nothing. Just wasted more time.

So I'm trying to call the special amazon toll free number (800) 814-0180. Just holding, holding, and then disconnected. Arghh....3 times!

Next day, I try again. And it seems like unplugging the cable modem and unplugging the router, and making sure the MTU is manually set at 1492, and it gets an IP address, and the speed seems decent. It's not quite as fast as a direct connection to the cable modem (maybe 80%), but it's a fair bit faster than the DSL line. OK. I cancelled my order for the USG50 and give the cisco one a try.

Then a couple days later, my Internet connection is again wonky! No matter what I do, I can't get the RV042 to recognize the cable modem. Several hours of trying to get it recognize it fails again, and the address never goes to anything other than

Sure, the problem could be my cable modem, or maybe there is some magical configuration needed.

Once I get the ZyWall USG50, I'll be able to compare it. Today, I tried not only turning off the cable modem but also unplugging the cable, and then I turned on the cable modem, waited for all lights to go green, and then connected the cable to the rv042, and it worked! Very puzzling. Note, I did not turn off the rv042. Also, it seems like the rv042 would definitely detect the cable when it displayed, but release and renew never did anything. Then, a day later, the rv042 again lost the cable connection again.

Dual wan has been working now for about 7 days. Does work fine when it works.
Magic Mill 8.5 Quart Slow Cooker Crock Pot, Digital Programmable, 20 Hour Timer, 3 Cooking Settings, Locking Lid for Easy Transport, Dishwasher Safe
Magic Mill 8.5 Quart Slow Cooker Crock Pot, Digital Programmable, 20 Hour Timer, 3 Cooking Settings, Locking Lid for Easy Transport, Dishwasher Safe
I have been a long time user of slow cooker and crockpots for years. I have also over cooker many a dinner in one of these pots. I purchased this one because of the auto shut off feature and let me tell you - it is wonderful! I didn't know what I was missing!

Pros: large capacity - I use my slow cooker every weekend making food for the week and this cooker delivers not only dinner that night but 4-6 mason jars of left overs for the freezer. Sturdy on the counter - this is important as I have a busy kitchen and more than once the lid to my other cooker went flying or the cooker slid across the counter, this one stays put. Locked on lid - I love this feature for family and guests as it kept everyone out of the pot and made it comfortable to move if needed. Easy to use front panel - this was great! I could see the readout from across the room and knew exactly where it was in the process - I kept smelling the air to see if it was doing its job, it was spot on!

Cons: Large capacity means heavy insert. This wasn't something I thought about when I purchased it. It wasn't too heavy just more that I was used to with my older and smaller model. It worried me a bit for cleaning but I ran it through my dishwasher with no problem! Storage: it didn't fit in the storage spot for my old smaller pot so had to come up with a new spot - not a huge deal, again just not something I thought about when I purchased it. The locking lid: this could just be me but I found the lid awkward to take off. There was not an issue putting it back on but I couldn't take the lid off with one hand I had to use both - again probably just me as I am always doing five things at once!

**One thing I really like about the locking lid mechanism was when I took the lid off I could set it in the sink one end down and the other end "hooked" on the edge of the sink by the locking piece. So the condensation from cooking drained in the sink and the lid didn't slide all over the place.
