The History of the World According to Facebook, Revised Edition
The History of the World According to Facebook, Revised Edition
I bought this book for my mother for Christmas this year. The book was delivered today and after flipping through it and laughing hysterically I ordered two more; one for each of my sister in laws. If it weren't Christmas I'd buy myself one. I'm not a fan of reading books, but this has very glossy pages and is not really "book like'. The pages look like the Facebook news feed and the posts are HILARIOUS! The only thing I didn't care for was that the outside of the book seemed a little bit dirty looking, almost like it came from a cheap print shop (sturdy, but matte cover) but the inside is in fabulous color with thick pages. And the content is so funny I'd buy it with no cover at all. I'm thinking this is gift of the year material!

I had written three really funny posts in this review, but took them out and suggest everyone just buy the book and read them for yourself!

For the record, I do not get offended easily and I'm curious if the book would be as funny to someone who isn't familiar with Facebook (photos, tagging, likes, interests, relationship status etc). Hope you enjoy the book as much as we do!!
Small Fry: A Memoir
Small Fry: A Memoir
Living in Palo Alto in the 1980s, we often heard rumors that Steve had a daughter named Lisa for whom the computer was named. No one seemed to know whether this was a true story or an urban legend, and certainly none of us realized that Lisa and her mom lived among us -- going out for dinner to the Good Earth, shopping at Units, cruising down University Avenue. Meanwhile, especially after Steve and Laurene married and more kids came along, we often ran into them: getting dessert at Gelato Classico, buying gifts at Palo Alto Toy & Sport, even roller skating along Homer near Whole Foods. Whatever else we thought about Steve, he seemed like a devoted dad.

Except he wasn't.

Lots of people are raised by substandard parents. You don't get to choose your mom and dad. For many of us, recovery can take decades or maybe even never. But Lisa, to her unending credit, is able to tell a story that radiates affection despite describing neglect that borders on abuse. She walks us through her childhood and teen years with unstinting candor, including a number of anecdotes that highlight her own missteps.

The most affecting scenes are the mother-daughter stories. Chris doesn't seem like a candidate for Mom of the Year, as she leaves Lisa by herself as a young child, brings home a series of boyfriends, moves from house to house, and often loses her temper. But because we see her through Lisa's eyes, our takeaway is the shared adoration between mother and child, and we understand that for all her foibles, Chris fought to give her daughter the best possible life. And in many ways her efforts were stymied rather than supported by the fact that Steve overshadowed their lives, even during the years that he remained detached from them.

Lisa is an artist, and her writing is the verbal equivalent of a painting, every detail sharply rendered. For that reason alone, this book is worth a reader's attention. Years ago I read an autobiography written by a poet whose narrative resonated like a poem; Small Fry hits that same note and sustains it. If not for her famous father, her book probably would never have been published, and that would have been a loss to all of us.
Jeff Bezos: The Life, Lessons & Rules for Success
Jeff Bezos: The Life, Lessons & Rules for Success
This intelligently written book explores Jeff Bezos' life and his early interest in space exploration and computers. I feel this book is more focused on the intricate details of Jeff Bezos' life and amazon's beginnings which make the reading experience enthralling.

The author focuses on key moments that led Jeff Bezos from job to job as he climbed the ladder of success. By the time he realized selling books on the Internet was an extraordinary opportunity, you can see how he got there and brought his dream to life.

What was the first book amazon sold?
What is Amazon Air Prime?
Why do you need reusable rockets for space travel?
What is Jeff Bezos' favorite book?
What companies are probably famous today because Jeff Bezos invested in them?

The author answers these questions and more. I also found the author's wry wit to make the book very funny in places. A lot has happened since that fateful day in July 1995 and each book on Jeff Bezos and amazon presents different perspectives. This is essential reading if you love amazon and want to know more about Jeff Bezos' rise to richest person on the planet. I am really impressed with how this book was written and I feel it is very well researched.

Disney Devotionals: 100 Daily Devotionals Based on the Walt Disney World Attractions
Disney Devotionals: 100 Daily Devotionals Based on the Walt Disney World Attractions
If you are looking for a devotional book for your family, your search ends with the fantastic book! This is a book that combines a magical and spiritual journey. I have been to Disney World 7 times since my childhood and I thought I knew a lot about the four theme parks until I opened this masterpiece. This book is filled with factual descriptions of every ride and show and the author makes a Biblical connection with the theme of Heaven from beginning to end. I literally could not put the book down because written within these pages is a guide to a personal walk with God along with bringing out the child within that was Walt Disney's dream. Disney World is "The Happiest Place on Earth" and joining the author on this journey makes me look forward to the Happiest Place that Ever Existed.....Heaven!
Let Love Find You: Seven steps to open your heart to love
Let Love Find You: Seven steps to open your heart to love
The exercises are uncomfortable at times--you have to really face the truth of your feelings, intentions, wants, needs, etc. However, I feel they are definitely increasing my sense of calm and self-contentment. Some of the meditation experiences have been transforming and very powerful, particularly the experience of connecting with your future life mate/lover. However, they do require regular practice and sometimes the feelings you experience are painful if this is what is in your heart at that particular time. As the author states in the book, it is more of workbook that is intended to be re-read and the exercises repeated over time to help you work through all the necessary stages of attracting your next love.
Ford versus Ferrari: The battle for supremacy at Le Mans 1966
Ford versus Ferrari: The battle for supremacy at Le Mans 1966
OK - it's probably been published to coincide with the release of the (controversial) movie and shares a key fault with the film - it's much more about Ford than Ferrari.
The story has been told before more fully in many books which are often quite expensive. This book is good value, with some excellent photos which may be familiar but are well-produced here. A shame that the caption-writers miss a few tricks - for example, a very good pic of Graham Hill leaning against a GT40 with an un-named executive ; who is in fact Alan Mann, an important player in the GT40 story.....
On the plus side, the book deserves praise for devoting a lot of space to the Lola GT which is often overlooked and also to the JWAE post-1967 story.
So - more of a 'browsers' book than one for the dedicated researcher - but worth the money.
Wolverine Men's Dublin W04780 Waterproof Boot
Wolverine Men's Dublin W04780 Waterproof Boot
I live in Minnesota, some like to call it MinneSNOWta and for good reasons. If you live in the United States, you are probably aware of the brutally cold winter we have had of 2013/2014 (Polar Vortexes anyone?). I've lived in Minnesota all my life, and I can't remember when I've seen the temperature so cold, so often. If I recall, we've been colder than Alaska the majority of this winter.

So with frigid cold weather your entire body needs to be warm, including your feet, and these boots fit the criteria. I'm glad I bought this before winter in September, it has already paid off. I'm a tennis shoes kind of guy as they are very comfortable, light, and breathable. But winter in Minnesota, I will wear work boots all winter long for the added warmth and most importantly keeping your feet dry and these boots did just that!

These are Made In China, and yes I hate that label, but these are good boots for the 6 months I've had them, they are warm, waterproof, and I like the style. They are sort of a mix between work boots and snow boots blended together, which is why I bought them. I won't use these for work in the summer as my feet would sweat in them, but I will wear these in the winter for anything.

I believe the coldest day we've had so far this winter was an air temperature of -22 degrees F and the coldest windchill of -51 F at my location, you don't want to be caught wearing tennis shoes in this kind of weather, protect your feet, keep them dry and comfortably warm if you live in a potentially cold climate.

4/5 stars

CONS-
Nearly $100 for something 'Made In China'
Feet will sweat inside them occasionally
Not the most comfortable boot, but OK

PROS-
Added warmth
Waterproof and Snowproof
Great mix between a typical workboot and snowboot
Good traction, tred

(Can't yet comment on the durability at this point)
GEEK TEEZ Prancing Pony Barliman's Best Men's T-Shirt
GEEK TEEZ Prancing Pony Barliman's Best Men's T-Shirt
I wanted a shirt I could wear for St. Patrick's Day that had an Irish or Celtic type vibe to it. I decided it would be fun to get this. It's Lord of the Rings without being obvious and only people who have seen the films would get the reference. I ordered mine in Kelly Green and it's the most beautiful vibrant green color. Quality of fabric and stitching is good. I'm 6' tall and about 200 lbs. I got the X-Large and it fit me great. The company seems to really care about their customers too. Highly recommended!
Seuss Kids Cat in The Hat Accessory Kit
Seuss Kids Cat in The Hat Accessory Kit
My son is 5.5. He wore the hat and bow tie to school and then with gloves he wore for 4 hours at a carnival--he kept them on without a problem. He's a tall kid (90%) so I'm not sure these gloves will fit next year, but the hat and tie will for sure. I wish this costume came with an option to buy the tail. The rest of it fit well. The bow attaches in the back with a thin velcro strap--I might have to wrap it with material because it seemed alittle scratchy at first. The hat material is very thin--so I'm a little disappointed that it stains so easily. It come out with scrubbing with a rag and some water. But it's light enough so that my son didn't mind wearing it. So for 5-6 years old, it's probably fine. Any older and I'm not sure it would fit well if the child is much larger. But 10 + a tail for Halloween costume? Done and it was easy.
The I.P.O.
The I.P.O.

Ayako nº 01/02 (Manga: Biblioteca Tezuka) (Spanish Edition)
Naruto, Vol. 50: Water Prison Death Match
Naruto, Vol. 50: Water Prison Death Match
The 50th volume of Naruto, the long running manga of a ninja's determination to rise to the top with the powers of determination, friendship, and trust, has reached a turning point. While Naruto still does not return to fighting in this volume, the focus is on the Kages (ninja leaders of the five nations), Sasuke (rogue ninja in cahoots with a masked leader of a rogue ninja organization), and the hunt for the 8-tailed biju and its jinchuriki host, with a little sprinkling of our favorite female ninja, Sakura Haruno! While I will just do as usual and list out the titles of the chapters, I will not spoil any of the plot elements except for stating that the next arc starts off in high fashion and looks to be phenomenal, Naruto even seems to be getting in the action and will take things into his own hands. The July issue (Vol 51) can not come soon enough

The chapters were first seen in Shonen Jump issues 88-91
464: The Power of Darkness
465: The Summit Hall Attacked
466: The Great Battle in the Sealed Room
467: Declaration of War
468: Eight Tails and Nine Tails
469: Sakura's Confession
470: Killer Bee vs Kisame
471: Eight Tails, Version 2
472: Water Prison Death Match
473: Bro

The action was intense in the volume with numerous characters finally launching attacks, such as the kage of the village hidden in the rain, the Lady Mizukage and her bodyguard Chojuro, and others. We also were able to see Kiba and others again who have been missing for a large part of the mange since the beginning of the attack on the Hidden Leaf village in the previous arc. All in all, the revelations of the ultimate plan, Sakura's confrontation of Naruto, and the interaction of Gaara and the other kage, lead volume 50 to be one of the best ones yet. I enjoyed it and imagine that fans will enjoy it too. The only negative thing about the volume was the multi month long wait for it and now the multi month long wait for the next volume, but it is oh so worth it. I also believe that the translators did a great job of translating Killer Bee's rhymes as well.

So definitely, all Naruto fans should read this and add it to their collection.
Richard Scarry's Vrooming, Zooming Stories (Pictureback(R))
Richard Scarry's Vrooming, Zooming Stories (Pictureback(R))
This is a good value for 3 stories. I only wish I would have known in advance which stories were included because unfortunately, we already had all three! I took a chance based on the publisher's vague description hoping these stories were new to us. I guess I'll keep the book for when we are traveling or gift it to a friend.

For reference, here are the stories included:
A Day at the Airport
A Day at the Fire Station
A Day at the Police Station

Like most of Richard Scarry's stories, these are entertaining and fun for kids and adults. The colorful illustrations are especially great for finding unusual and often, silly details!
Logic Games by Lewis Carroll (1887) (Original Version)
Logic Games by Lewis Carroll (1887) (Original Version)
Aquarius Harry Potter Hogwarts 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
Aquarius Harry Potter Hogwarts 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
Pieces slipped out of place once in and were quite loose. It was a very difficult puzzle the shading made it very trying which I enjoyed the challenge and it was a challenge as shading and coloring was crazy same. My 2 stars are because 1. There was a piece missing and I do my puzzles on a surface that has an edge so that pieces cannot fall off and 2. this puzzle came with several areas of water damage I'm not sure what caused it but several of the areas on the puzzle were bulging and they didn't quite fit together because of that. I should have had it returned immediately because we noticed it upon sorting but I didn't think I could do that after I already opened it I have included a 2 pictures of this and there were more areas than these

With this nice big and blue handle for gripping is a treat to work with. Most other handles end up pinching my fingers or giving me cramps, but not with this hand scrubber. It gives me the control I need with less of the energy. Also the scrubbing is a magnificent job. Plus, its bright colors make it easier to spot in a dark cupboard under the sink. Would definitely recommend.

Funko Pop Pens: Harry Potter - Hermione Pen Topper
It's a really cute pen topper and not heavy at all. The problem is, it arrived separated from the actual pen and it doesn't fit properly - if I place it, it's loose. I'll have to glue it so that it's stuck. It's not a terrible issue, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to fit properly.

The Humane Gardener: Nurturing a Backyard Habitat for Wildlife (How to Create a Sustainable and Ethical Garden that Promotes Native Wildlife, Plants, and Biodiversity)
This books transformed the way I garden. I have always had a love for and appreciation of wildlife but had no idea how I could take my current already abundant garden to new levels. Not only by incorporating more native species but those species that truly feed nature. Have also added an insect motel and other means of attracting even more of the essentials of nature. Thank you for this amazing book. Have shared it widely with others and it will be my #1 go-to. What I have found amazing is that many other gardening books (especially perennial books) talk nothing about how each species attract and feed the environment. They only reference the 'pests'. We've come a long way and I hope that this also transforms the gardening resource books.

Freedy 90W USB-C Travel Charger Power Station Fast Charging Adapter [2 USB-C PD & 2 QC 3.0] [USB-IF Certified] - Compatible w MacBook, iPad Pro, iPhone Xs/Xs Max/Xr and More (Black)
This is a great charger. I’ve set it up on my desk so I don’t have to continually move my main charger from my work bag to my desk every day. It sits nicely on the desk and provides most of the ports I need.

I only have 2 gripes with products like this on the market. One is the limited USB C ports. I would ideally like to see a charger with a 65w- 75w USB C port, a 30w USB C port and an 18w USB C port as well as 1 or 2 USB 3.0 ports. Two is the lack of wall mounting. If this had two slots on the back for wall mounting I think this would be very close to perfect!

But overall this is a very good charger. It has no problem keeping my 15” MacBook Pro powered while at the desk. Even under heavy computing (CAD, 3D modeling, reading and writing files to external drives, video editing, and anything else I throw at it).
