The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience
The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience
Are you a salesman who likes to pitch a "story" about your company in the first five minutes of meeting a new prospect? Have you ever been annoyed when the "product marketing geek" hands you back your PowerPoint with about 20 extra "bullet points"? Have you ever felt crestfallen when the VP of Sales hands you a 35-page PowerPoint on the way into your sales meeting and asks you to deliver it in 20 minutes? Have you ever cringed when one of your colleagues reads the slides on the screen and turns her back to the audience, in order to see the words better? Have you ever fallen asleep during a presentation conducted in the dark of night required for a projector to work? Have you ever felt physically ill at the prospect of being invited to watch someone else's PowerPoint?

If you have answered, "Yes", to any of these questions, then this book is for you. This book vindicates your feeling that there is a better way to conduct sales meetings, to craft PowerPoint presentations, and to use the technology towards the purpose for which it was designed. Granted, this is not the only book that makes this claim - and it does seem that there is a cottage industry among "communications consultants" who have written similar books - but this is clearly the best one I've read.

And, this is for two reasons I think: First, Gallo focuses on one person's presentation style - Steve Jobs - on whom we can all agree that he is a master of this game. And, second, Gallo has done the hard work of identifying and outlining what makes Jobs' presentations really work. Jobs creates a storyline, treats the presentation as theater, and enacts it as performance.

With Gallo as a guide - and his suggestion that we all study Jobs's presentations available on YouTube - we are encouraged to have the courage to give better presentations and to stand up to our colleagues and superiors who insist on giving the same old boring PowerPoint presentation, because "it is what it is."

The only reason that I didn't give this book a 5-star rating is that Gallo suggests that we, like Jobs, create drama in our presentations by offering a foil or enemy, like Jobs does with Microsoft. I have always felt that this was hokey and unnecessary, and although I'm a Mac enthusiast, I wish Apple would stop doing this. If you can get past this minor criticism, you will rate this a 5-star book for yourself.
Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All the Way
Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All the Way
Before I can truly review this book, I need to provide some background. I'm not a Parrothead, although I know Parrotheads. Like many non-followers, I have tagged along with other hardcore Jimmy Buffett fans to several shows over the past decades (Pine Knob, Buckeye Lake, The Palace, etc.) because seeing Jimmy live is, quite simply, a good time with friends. Whether you know the legends or just like the music, the concerts are a fun evening out (or whole day... or weekend). I originally purchased this book for a fan, the type that lives and breaths all things Jimmy. He, after devouring the book, passed it back to me and told me I HAD to read it.

From a non-fan perspective, this book is DEEP. Not deep in the philosophical sense, but deep in the shear amount of details and research that must have gone into the collection of stories and history within its pages. The book starts out with a lovely short chapter on the formation of the band. It reads more like a novel and is beautifully and vividly described. Even though I didn't know all the characters per say, I was able to follow the action. Hard core fans will have no issues following the story of Jimmy's arrival in Key West. The second chapter then jumps back into time to some family history, specifically Grandfather Buffett, the sea captain. While this chapter was a bit more academic and read more like history than novel, it does set the subtle ebb and flow of the book, like waves on the beach, skillfully moving from story telling to history lessons in the Encyclopedia Buffett. The book mostly follows this pattern, jumping from scene to scene, and through various places and times.

As a fan of history, and a good biography, I found the tales and history surrounding Mr. Buffett fascinating and well told. There is so much lore surrounding the legend of Jimmy Buffett, it was really fun to see the origins of the folklore (like any good hero, there is typically some truth to the surrounding myths). Additionally, after reading through all the history I feel quite lazy in comparison. The Buffetts and the extended family of personalities that have come and gone from the Coral Reefer band have (wildly in some cases) accomplished way more than I could ever hope to in my lifetime. The productivity of the collective is amazing, and Jimmy is STILL going, not so much the legend of years past... but still traveling, touring, and transforming into the ultimate master of brand and marketing he is today.

Even though I had to web search for some of the references in the book (note: Parrotheads will likely not have this issue), I still found every chapter well worth the read. This was obviously a labor of love for the author, and I suspect it was a blast to research, collect these tales, and spin the yarns. Peering over at Mr. White's other offering Springsteen: Album by Album , which seems to be quite a different type of book, he does like his musical icons.
Mark Zuckerberg VS Google Brothers: Great Men with Great Vision
Mark Zuckerberg VS Google Brothers: Great Men with Great Vision
Two amazing stories. The book highlights to rise to fame of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the Google brothers Larry Page and Sergey Brin. All three men have acquired great wealth and notoriety and their stories were educational and inspiring.

The similarities of their rise to stardom were that they were all three master computer operators, started their companies with little money and little support. Zuckerberg was younger than the Google brothers at the time of his initial fame.

Some of the differences between Zuckerberg and the Google brothers besides age is the Zuckerberg keeps his face in the media much more than the Google brothers ho stay for the most part behind the scenes.

Their impacts on society are profound. Be it the connections people can make with one another across the world through Facebook or the ability to retrieve information efficiently and effectively from a single search engine in Google.

All three men utilized the American free market and time when a need for their skills was on the rise. In other words, they seized the moment. This book gave me insights into these men in way that I did not have before. It was a fun and educational read.
Jeff Bezos: Amazon and the eBook Revolution (Titans of Fortune)
Jeff Bezos: Amazon and the eBook Revolution (Titans of Fortune)
I downloaded this e-book hoping it would have something insightful and thought-provoking to say about Jeff Bezos. I was pretty disappointed. The "book" is hardly long enough to be called a book. It isn't much more than biographical information you can find on the internet. I would recommend you try something else, or even just go to wikipedia. this isn't worth your time or your 2 dollars.
Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America
Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America
The last 50 years has seen a quantum shift away from basic democratic principles, not only in the US, but in peer democracies around the world. A myriad of factors are responsible and there are plenty of heady books that chip away at some aspect, source or agent, but Dr. Kendzior's book, along with her previous one, 'The View from Flyover Country' represent the most visceral of accounts. It is beautifully written, weaving in both the social scientist in her as well as the mother, wife and citizen, and while looking at macro events, she never loses sight of the real effects on average citizens. The two books, which I would call companions, ultimately wind up asking the basic question, 'what kind of society do you want?' and they do so by showing you plainly the very kind of society you are in and how it went all so very wrong. The nefarious protagonist may be Donald Trump, but blame is cast wide and includes all for allowing institutional rot and storied institutions to crumble. The book, written ins 2019, is at times prescient at the national and even global level:

On page 2, “'To millionaire elite, many of whom already had an apocalyptic bent, a depopulated world is not a tragedy but an opportunity...'

On page 43, "It's the sense of having a government that seems to welcome death; a government that has abdicated even the pretense of working for its citizens or caring if they live or die"

But it never loses its connection to the personal. There are very poignant personal moments that help create a resonating context; In the wake of 9/11, she talks to her son about friends who enlisted in order to help but ‘they kept having to fight the same wars over and over, and that this left them hurting inside. My son asked if the government could give them special rewards like not having to work ever again, because they had already tried so hard to protect people, and I held his face to my chest so he wouldn’t see me cry.’

Social science is best, in my view, when it remains firmly connected to humanity. Graphs, statistics, calculated probabilities, are all important but understanding power structures require insights into ‘Flyover Country.’ And if you want to understand the era of Donald Trump, you can’t do it without understanding the forgotten portions of America and how they are connected to the global stage and its most villainous actors. Surveillance culture, elite criminal impunity, and the ongoing erosion of freedoms are not unstoppable forces, but to battle such forces requires first understanding the wellspring from which they come and the human cost if allowed to grow. I cannot say more than, read this book.
John D. Rockefeller: The Original Titan - Insight and Analysis into the Life of the Richest Man in American History: Business Biographies and Memoirs - Titans of Industry, Book 3
John D. Rockefeller: The Original Titan - Insight and Analysis into the Life of the Richest Man in American History: Business Biographies and Memoirs - Titans of Industry, Book 3
I bought this book partly because I wanted to read a biography of John Rockefeller that wasn’t completely biased against him. This biography is quite readable, and seems to be written at a middle school level. But don’t let the reading level fool you: this is a very informative biography that doesn’t ignore some of the underhanded methods Rockefeller used to achieve success, despite the author’s sympathetic view of the oil tycoon. Other biographies delve into Rockefeller’s life in much greater detail, but this book remains a very good introduction to John Rockefeller’s life and career.

Bob Dylan: The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3
Bob Dylan: The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3
1974 Tour Live (4LP Box Set) [VINYL]
1974 Tour Live (4LP Box Set) [VINYL]
Probably like most Dylan fans, Before The Flood (BTF) is one of my favourite live albums. This is just as good and arguably better because of the additional songs, including The Times They Are A-Changin' and an amazing Gates of Eden. Dylan’s interpretation of them during this tour is terrific. Also, Dylan’s delivery here of the songs, which appear on BTF, often varies slightly, making them clearly distinctive from the tracks on BTF and equally enjoyable. It is also worth highlighting how good The Band sound throughout the entire album. This is acknowledged by the historical article included in the CD sleeve by Nat Hentoff. Having said that, the inclusion of this article seems a strange choice, particularly with the author’s failure to note/ realise how incredibly fortunate he had been to undoubtedly see Dylan performing at a level, which most Dylan fans would love to have witnessed. If you are a fan of Before The Flood , I would recommend buying this album!
Barlean’s Seriously Delicious Omega-3 Fish Oil, Piña Colada, 16-oz
Barlean’s Seriously Delicious Omega-3 Fish Oil, Piña Colada, 16-oz
I have used this and the mango flavour for the last year. I certainly prefer the taste of the mango as I can still taste the fish through this flavour but this is obviously a personal thing. There are several things I do not like however. We found these flavours far too sweet, they use Xylitol in the product which is an artificial sweetener although one of the better ones.Unfortunately the price of this has also gone through the roof with most suppliers and in my view is now greatly over priced as you can obtain other high quality oils in capsule form which match this.
ISELECTOR 150W Car Power Inverter, DC 12V to 110V AC Converter with 2 USB Ports Charger, Thinner Design with ETL Listed Car Adapter
ISELECTOR 150W Car Power Inverter, DC 12V to 110V AC Converter with 2 USB Ports Charger, Thinner Design with ETL Listed Car Adapter
The inverter itself I believe produces a modified sine wave. It has a nice compact form factor and for the most part works OK. Has a surprisingly hard start, but this is apparently typical for most inverters.

They use self-tapping screws to attach the face plates, which is understandable but kind of gross.

The face plates aren't really designed for... flexibility.

They use the old "molded in standoffs" to hold the fan, which is a guaranteed breakage somewhere down the line. This must be some sort of industry standard.

No additional mounting options or attachment points. Not cool.

The worst part is actually the power cable. The company ("Bestek/Iselector") is cagey about the cable and won't even sell you a spare. And I have no idea where to get that connector, and by the way thanks for not labeling positive/negative.

There is no apparent fuse inside the cable. Whatever is acting as the fuse must be in the main unit itself, which is mildly OK.

A picture of the internals of the cigarette lighter side of the cable is attached. I haven't disassembled many of these, but it seems to me if the spring on the positive pops out of its molded retainer, it might run right into the negative terminal. So you'll have an immediate short. You don't even have to have your inverter connected, and there's no fuse to stop it.

So honestly I'm dropping all the stars due to the power cable and the dodgy company's response to the power cable. Might have been an OK product otherwise; could have used some mounting options.
WHAT DOES DAFFY DUGONG DO WRONG: An Environmental Primer for Kids, Their Parents, Grandparents and Teachers
WHAT DOES DAFFY DUGONG DO WRONG: An Environmental Primer for Kids, Their Parents, Grandparents and Teachers
What an excellent concept for a children’s book—interactive environmentalism! My 5-yr old grandson instantly and enthusiastically engaged, quickly figuring out what went wrong and how to do better. As a budding paleontologist, he understands that a meteor likely wiped out the dinosaurs and that climate change is killing many of our existing species. But he hadn’t thought about the effects of plastic bags and plastic toys on our environment or wasting paper. I’m sure we’ll be reading this book again and again as they get older. His little sister was a bit young (2 1/2) to understand the environmental message, but she loved the pictures and rhymes. The illustrations are adorable!
This book belongs in elementary classrooms worldwide.

Vikings: Season 5 - Part 2
Vikings: Season 5 - Part 2
Turbulent times (continued). Ragnar's sons seem heading in different directions, with opposing beliefs and loyalties. To remain true to Norse Gods and concepts of battle? To become Christians, seeking peace with those in other lands and settling as farmers? For crippled Ivar (he charismatic and horrible), there is no problem. Declaring himself a God, there will be no mercy for those who defy.

Ten episodes, all somewhat colour drained and violent - at times it hard to work out who is who and exactly what is happening. The Floki sequences particularly tend to bewilder, his breakaway group now in the most cheerless setting imaginable - barren and rainswept (washing on the line somewhat incongruous). How many understood those final scenes featuring him? (Perhaps they are not final after all, there to be a Season 6.)

Easier to follow are events featuring the young King Alfred, he determined to protect Wessex from volatile neighbouring kingdoms and invading Norsemen. Joining the cast is Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Bishop Heahmund - a militant Christian who has no problems at all about slaughtering his predecessor at the altar.

Yes, treachery is rampant - mud, blood and carnage much in evidence, not to mention flashbacks and mystical elements. Historically accurate? Those more erudite can decide. One thing for sure. Many viewers will emerge grateful for not having lived there and then.

One commentary. Modest bonuses.
Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (2018))
Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (Deadpool: Secret Agent Deadpool (2018))
In Secret Agent Deadpool gets to play James Bond. The main problem is DP playing the hapless fool in the middle of a bunch of spies and secret agents with a bad guy plotting against the world has already been done by the Archer TV series.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t some good spots in the story such as when DP gets heisted while he is trying to heist a mini-pony. Or when Wade Wilson uses miniature snowmobiles to kill some bad guys. It’s just that trying to make fun of the spy genre has already been done before and so expertly by Archer that it seems like a waste to do that with Deadpool.

The one big twist is at the end when the bad guys talk about controlling god’s pencil and all that means. That was another breakdown of the fourth wall that DP always likes to talk about.
Aquarius Marvel Dr. Strange Retro Playing Cards
Aquarius Marvel Dr. Strange Retro Playing Cards
Cool to see a dedicated card deck for Doctor Strange. Cards are your typical plastic-coated affair with a sort-of textured finish for smooth handling without being too slippy. The images are clear and taken largely from classic issues of Strange Tales and the first Doctor Strange standalone title that followed that. If I have one complaint it's that the image allocation hasn't had a great deal of thought put into it with a fair amount of image replication that doesn't seem consistent or thought out. For example you'll see two images used for all of a given card type: 3s, jacks, etc., however the same image will be used on one red and one black suit, rather than both black or both red for ready identification. I also would have expected more creative image use. All the face cards are issue covers, but we see standalone images of Dr. Strange on two of the 3s rather than the individual panels that appear on other number cards. Queens could have featured the many women from the comic, jacks villains or supporting characters, etc.

All in all it's a good buy for the collector, I just think you can have a bit more fun with clever image selection.
WE3
WE3
We3 is one of my favorite Graphic Novels!
and it does get extremely GRAPHIC!!!

the visual story-telling in this series is amazing.
this is one of the best stories by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely next to All-Star Superman.

!!!!!! spoilers from here on out !!!!!!

"lost" pets end up in the hands of the military for a bio-weapon experiment.
with the animals final mission a success the project is to be terminated as well as the animals.
the doctor who was put in charge of caring for the experimented animals has grown too fond of the animals to see them put down, sets them free.

the escaped animals are now on the run from government.
they have to fight pursuing soldiers as well as other experimented animals in the form of mind controlled weaponized rats.
a bloody slaughter ensues.

the leader of the We3 animal team (a dog called number One) tries to rescue a bystander that was caught in the collateral damage, but it was already too late. a very sad and touching moment that really tugs at the heart strings. this series is just full of moments like these.

towards the final act the We3 animals start suffering from the effects of a drug withdrawal contingency that the government had put in place, in case the animals ever escaped. they grow ever sicker from the effects, while the next model of bio-weaponized animal is sent after them.
it is bigger, badder, more aggressive, and heartless.

this series is very brutal and gory, but it has a LOT of heart.

i'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind the graphic violence.

I only received volume 2 of the 2 piece set. This was only the instructions for the program and NOT the actual textbook therefor leaving me with no resources for the class I was taking.

I was able to have the second book sent to me 4 days later after being on the phone with amazon support for almost an hour and a half. He was very helpful however, I was put through to the FRENCH help line even though I had specified otherwise.
One Piece, Vol. 62: Adventure on Fish-Man Island (One Piece Graphic Novel)
One Piece, Vol. 62: Adventure on Fish-Man Island (One Piece Graphic Novel)
Fish-men Island has been on One Piece as one of the famous spots in Grand Line since long time ago, but the Straw Hat pirates didn’t get there easily. Finally, they made it in this volume, and you can see the world of Fish-men, mermaid and merman. You can see a lot of beautiful mermaids relaxing on the inlet with corals, water roads and fishes. It’s like a scene out of a fairy tale!!! And its detailed setting makes the world much more interesting, how they live, how their life platform’s set, what kind of problem they have now…and so on. Besides those creatures, other legendary ones like Kuraken and sea spirit(Wadatsumi-the name’s derived from Japanese sea god) take you to the adventures of the underwater, and the thing I want you read and feel is that Luffy’s really enjoying with it even if other crews are being scared of. I can say that in this volume, you can know the fact “LUFFY IS BACK!!!”. Sanji have a problem with his naughty thought, and he looks really funny with it. Though what Sanji did makes us fun, but it has to do with the theme of Fish-men arc in a sense, so you might realize it’s not just funny while you read it.

In the second half, main characters of this arc appear one after another. King Neptune, his three sons, Neptune Brothers and mermaid princess, Shirahoshi as the royal family of Ryugu Kingdom. They invite the Straw Hat pirates for a banquet in return for saving Shirahoshi’s dearest friend, Megalo, but it doesn’t go easily. Fortune teller, Madam Sharley foresees the pirate with the straw will bring ruin to Fish-Men Island. At Noah, Fish-man District, something sinister is going on. Two captains of New Fish-Man Pirates, Hody Jones and Flying Pirates, Vander Decken '¥ shake hands with a FISHY SMILE. Now you and Luffy’s adventure on Fish-Man Island’s started!!
Handmaiden of Palmyra (Black Lace)
Handmaiden of Palmyra (Black Lace)
I'm a big fan of erotica set in ancient and classical decadent scenarios, and this is one of the best. The opulent clothes, furnishings and settings, slaves pampering, masters and mistresses being pampered, flirtation, exploitation; this book has the lot, and a raw, agressive energy that keeps it from becoming too plush. The heady atmosphere reeks of sensuality, a cocktail of power-politics, passion and LOTS of the sex (far more than in many 'erotic' stories) and in many guises to please all tastes. Then there's the added frisson of supposedly saintly priests and monks, ripe for the tempting.
My only disappointment is the 'pair off, marry and live happily ever after' ending (hence only four stars). Come on, the decadence didn't stop with marriage, they carried on (in all senses)! Someone write a sequel, please!

Victoria “Tory” Bodeen has had what her grandmother called the Sight since she was very little. She tried to keep things to herself because her father, Hannibal, would beat her near to death, all the while quoting the bible. Of course, he never really needed a reason to beat her. Tory had been around the age of eight when her only friend, Hope, died. Tory was supposed to sneak out and meet up with her friend, but her father had beaten her that night. When people went searching for Hope, Tory told exactly where Hope’s body was. Hannibal eventually moved his family away from Progress.

Of course, Tory fled home as soon as she could. Now an adult, Tory is moving back to Progress. She even rented the house where she had grown up. Tory would open a stylish home-design shop called Southern Comfort. She would finally face her past and, hopefully, find closure by figuring out who raped and murdered Hope eighteen years ago. Kincade “Cade” Lavelle, Hope’s brother, is still around and he is determined to make Tory see him as lover potential. Faith, Hope’s twin sister, is still there too. Faith and Hope have always been opposites in all but looks. Several others still remain as well – including Hope’s killer.

**** FOUR STARS! This story is so well written that I found myself a bit unsettled at times. Nora Roberts manages to show readers that down home Southern charm, as well as the not so charming parts. A gripping story that may keep you up reading too long into the night. ****

The Villa was a very good story, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I didn't care for Midnight Bayou. I was extremely disapointed by the weired ending. And I do mean WEIRD. I'm not a writer, but I think I could have come up with a better ending.

I haven't listened to the last story. Thought I would wait a while, since I was so put off by Midnight Bayou. Sometimes when you buy a collection, you get a mixture of good and bad stories. I feel like this is what happened with this collection.

I would not pay full price for this collection. It's not worth it. Look for a previously owned set at a reduced price, if you are interested in purchasing.

The Vicar of Nibbleswicke
The Vicar of Nibbleswicke
I wanted something by Roald Dahl that my year 5 class had not read before... And I came across this. Completely inappropriate to read with children in school because of two dodgy words (they rhyme with 'trap' and 'hiss'!) but I would suggest it to parents with a sense of humour. I read it in bed in about ten minutes and ended up waking my partner up because I couldn't stop laughing. It will definitely make you giggle and could be an amusing stocking filler for the 'Hyacinth Buckets' in your family. Also, it's great for anyone with dyslexia as it sheds a little humour around the topic.

Lenovo Tab M10 Plus, 10.3" FHD Android Tablet, Octa-Core Processor, 32GB Storage, 2GB RAM, Iron Grey, ZA5T0263US
I have had a windows 10 tablet and I like android as I have an android phone. I used to buy laptops a long time ago from the company now known as Lenovo but was once IBM. The computers never broke on you. Now back to the tablet. The screen is far better than any tablet I have seen. And I am a computer tech. Second the speed is good. Third the battery last for about 3 days full charge depending on use. Now I don't play games so I don't know how long that would last on a charge. But surfing and emails and playing HD videos it last a long time. I love this tablet. My wife has a Galaxy Tab 10A and it blows her tablet out of the water. From pictures to video to the screen resolution and speed it's not even close. I see now I have to buy her one because she was not happy when she seen that LOL! Any way one thing that can be done is customizations where you can do more with the tablet. It's simple and not much to change on the tablet. But besides that man this tablet is so smooth and clear my goodness. Makes looking at videos better than looking at TV and I have 4k video. But the clarity of that screen is amazing and smooth. Downloading apps from google was a breeze. I had one issue with one app and that was Experian but I just went on the browser and done it that way. I also like that google has Microsoft Edge new browser that thing takes google chrome and make it look stupid !! I never thought I would like another windows browser ever because of chrome but I lied. Google better step up because Microsoft Edge is a beast!! With that as my browser it feels like a windows computer but yet it's android. Man I am loving this tablet. You can't go wrong people. I haven't found anything to say I hate this for what I use it for. The cameras are good. I haven't taken pictures with them yet but far as how it looks and the video looks when using the camera it's great! I don't use a tablet for those things but far as I can see pictures will be very nice on that tablet that is a bonus. And you can video stream far as zoom and any other camera streaming app. It's clear and works well. If you want a tablet this one is the real deal. As far as tablets I call this the #1 Killer to all tablets out there. Benchmarks I don't get into if you looking for that it ranks pretty decent. But I don't get into that because I don't use that to it's full potential for what I need it for. Gamers can use this but I am not a gamer. But playing games work on this tablet and works well and flawless. I have the 4gb and 64gb model. And for $199 man that's stealing !!! Well enjoy people if you buy this tablet you will love it.
Reflections of Murder
Reflections of Murder
Poorly written, jumbled mess of a book. The stories are pointless for the most part and never come to anything resembling a satisfying conclusion. There’s a story about a bird who listened to the news and is trying to go get crackerjacks at a baseball stadium, wedged in there. Totally nonsensical and out of place. Just a complete waste of time and money.

-----LO MALO-----

HISTORIA PRINCIPAL LENTA
Yo le he dado medio libro, y no a habido manera.

HISTORIA SECUNDARIA MAL LLEVADA

Soul of the Age: Selected Letters of Hermann Hesse, 1891-1962
Soul of the Age: Selected Letters of Hermann Hesse, 1891-1962
By virtue of M. Harman's trenchant translations, Theo Z. begins to show you the art form of an "inveterate letter writer" called H. Hesse. If you don't know what inveterate means, you're not alone - I couldn't rightly place it either but, fortunately, TZ goes on to explain that between the ages of 4 and 85 yrs of age, Hesse sent over 30,000 letters/cards. T Ziolkowski abides in forewords/revised forwards/Edited By Lines but is always ready to assist a reader trying to iydll a few hours in the garden with Hesse. The lyrical quality to written Hesse easily captivates a certain type of reader in America, but only if the translation is prudent enough to account for the ignorance of the same readers who do not read German and have not had/made the opportunity to spend time in European culture. Soul of the Age converges a lifetime's worth of correspondences which leads readers through simple yet inexorable paths that lead somewhere new every time you walk or stroll through the book.

Wrebbit 3D - Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle 3D Jigsaw Puzzle, Great Hall and Astronomy Tower - Bundle of 2 - Total of 1725 Pieces
Okay, I have just purchased the complete set and received it this past Wednesday. Overall this puzzle is great! It’s a lot of fun to put the pieces together and assembling all the structures can be very satisfying! But there’s a reason I’m giving this 2 stars. Before my purchase I read reviews that people were missing pieces and swore they were not the ones who lost them. I looked over it and decided to get this set anyways. Upon completing the Astronomy set there were 2 missing pieces which prohibited complete assembly of the puzzle (yes the discard pile of pieces was checked several times by several eyes). We opened up the second set and began working on that while we waited for the missing pieces to arrive through wreddit. We’re now just about finished with this one and we were noticing 2 missing pieces from the base and hoping nothing more than that. Now we have all these structures completed but no completed base to attach them to. We'll soon send in another form through wreddit once we confirm those are the only 2 pieces missing.
!!BUT HERES THE POINT!!
This could’ve all been easily avoided if they packaged these puzzles better. Inside the box of this puzzle is just the pieces! No plastic to hold them all or anything. And even worse then that there are easily noticeable spots in the flaps of the box for pieces to come out throughout handling in the warehouse or what have you. On their website they note pieces can be stuck in the flaps of the cardboard box, which there were.
Overall you can tell it’s going to be an amazing looking puzzle once it’s all together especially if you’re a fan of the HP series. I really hope In the future I can change this review. And of course I’m still going to buy the diagon alley set so hopefully those will be a more pleasurable experience.

UPDATE: I have just received the two missing pieces from the first set which I gotta say was pretty quick to get here! Now I’m just waiting for 2 more from the other set which I’m sure will be here soon.

I changed my review to 4 stars as I’ve now also purchased the knight bus, weasleys burrow, and hogsmeade puzzles from wrebbit. So far the knight buss came with all the pieces and as were wrapping up weasleys house its looking like all the pieces are there for that one as well.

Great looking puzzles!

I bought it for a friend who loves HP and I accidentally ordered 2 mugs so I kept one for myself. I must say that I’m very happy with this. I washed it in a dishwasher a couple times and the golden writing didn’t come off. There are no cracks on a cup and it arrived really nicely packed
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – Slytherin Edition
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – Slytherin Edition
I am sure I have no need to talk about Harry Potter here, I guess everybody knows the story. This 20th Anniversary (Slytherin) Edition is a nice collectors item to own, especially if you are a fan of Slytherin House, Draco Malfoy and his cronies. The text of the story is, obviously, the same as the original 3rd instalment ion the Harry Potter series, but what sets it apart is the Slytherin based decoration and art seen on the cover and within the book. There's a nice little introduction to Salazar Slytherin within, and some good line drawings too.

A worthy addition for the Harry Potter fan, available in four "flavours": Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, each with the appropriate colour scheme and decoration.

LEGO Harry Potter? Quidditch Match 4737 (Discontinued by manufacturer)
The seller contacted me about 2 weeks after ordering stating the package had been returned to them and offering a refund. I asked them to clarify the address as I wanted the item and it was at this point they told me they couldn't deliver to guernsey. So the original return to sender story seems unlikely to be correct - it actually seems they just decided they did not want to post my item. It would have been good to know this at the point of ordering as I wouldn't have had a disappointed little boy who's present didn't arrive.
The Noble Collection Harry Potter Official Gryffindor House Crest iPhone 6 Plus Case
The Noble Collection Harry Potter Official Gryffindor House Crest iPhone 6 Plus Case
This is a beautiful piece. I was very disappointed to find that it was only for a 6+. It comes up repeatedly in a search for a 7s iPhone case. And unfortunately they only make this case for 6+. I searched frantically and in vain for a similar case that would work for my daughters iPhone 7. I will say that I even considered upgrading her phone to a 7+ to see if this would fit. That’s ridiculous, I know...but it says a lot about the product’s appeal. It really is a well-made and gorgeous case. Unfortunately I had to send it back. If it came in other sizes for later models I would definitely have given it 5 stars.

Harry Potter och Den Flammande Bägaren (Swedish Edition)
With the adventures of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling singlehandedly saved the publishing industry. It is impossible to overstate the impact these books had on both child and adult readers. The anticipation for the next sequel! The midnight release parties! While you missed all that excitement, you now have the joys of being able to read all the books at once.

Please do read the books; don’t just watch the movies.

PARENTS BEWARE: As Harry Potter ages, the subject matter grows more mature. J.K. Rowling was quite clear that she was not writing for young children. These books grow increasingly more intense. Exercise caution.

Half Life: A Helheim Wolf Pack Tale (Half Blood Series)
Half Life: A Helheim Wolf Pack Tale (Half Blood Series)
Half Life Helhem Wolf Pack book 3 by Lauren Dawes.

What a book I didn't want it to end, This is an 18+ book as it contains graphic scenes and sexually explicit content you have been warned.

I'm always on the look out for new author's to get stuck in to and Lauren Dawes doesn't disappoint her style of writing and her characters are addictive and I find that once I start a book I can't put it down. I'm please that there will be a fourth book in this series.

This third installment took me by surprise I was shocked and saddened buy parts of it you are in for some big changes and lots of new characters to get your teeth into. . I will not give the story away but its now time for war against the vampires and Marcus's pack.

The romance is based on Sabel and a new character called Ivy in this installment.

Sabel best friend Colton has been found dead with some of his internal organs missing this leaves sabel angry and looking for revenge then in comes Ivy who will turn his world upside down.

Ivy hasn't heard from her twin brother Colton in day's she seeks permission from her Alpha to look for him in the Halheim packs territory he declines so Ivy sneaks away and illegally enters the Halheim pack territory only to be caught by Sabel who didn't know Colton had a twin.

Rhett and Indi are still together but with Brax helping with feeding tempers and cracks are starting to show. Brax turns to alcohol and sex with prostitutes to get Indi out of his mind to the disgust of Rhett.
Darice Unfinished Wooden Wine Box, Hinged with Clasp, One Size, Natural
Darice Unfinished Wooden Wine Box, Hinged with Clasp, One Size, Natural
Used this box to try wood staining for the first time and it turned out decent. I did use a prestain and multiple layers of satin overcoat.

Didn’t mind the latch so much - it’s really what you paid for, and served my purposes fine - but there was a loooot of glue remnants on the surface of the wood. I guess that’s where sandpaper comes in, but it was still annoying having to sand down stained wood because you missed a patch of glue. It also appeared that the biggest pieces of wood on the top and bottom were different kinds of wood (lower quality??) because they came out a different color and texture from the sides and elevated bits. The insides were a hot mess of glue and weird wood that I just didn’t want to deal with so I covered it with textured paper.

That being said, can’t beat the price, and it came out looking okay. Just takes a bit more patience and work to make it look polished. Might not be suitable as a big present for someone with a discerning eye.
Kangaroo Wizard Tie & Glasses Costume Accessory Set Black
Kangaroo Wizard Tie & Glasses Costume Accessory Set Black
Bought this for my 5 year old Halloween costume. The glasses are great. They fit him and are of good enough quality they will last beyond the one night they will be used. Lenses are clear plastic and you can see well through them.

The tie.... I am 6ft 200 lbs and the tie fits me. I don't normally find ties that fit but this one actually has enough length for me. I have no idea how I am going to make this work for a kids costume. Quality is what you would expect for the price and it wouldn't be anything I would wear to anything special. Not their fault as I guess it doesn't say "kids" but the size surprised me.
GE Sealants & Adhesives M90007 Supreme Silicone Kitchen & Bath Sealant, 10.1oz, White
GE Sealants & Adhesives M90007 Supreme Silicone Kitchen & Bath Sealant, 10.1oz, White
I read that the caulk can come out the wrong side here so i decided to use a long stick to prod inside the business end where the caulk is supposed to come out and discovered that there's like a thin film that seals the caulk in the tube. You need to poke the heck out of it so caulk can squeeze through and come out. Otherwise i think it'll cause the problem some here have described, burst out of the wrong end. Other than that, which is odd cause other caulks I've used doesn't have that barrier between the tube and the cone, no issues. Does infact dry fast. I'll give it a week to see how effective it is.

-1 star cause of that odd issue that wasn't mentioned that can cause the caulk to burst out from the bottom.

Edit: And it dries very white. Like as white as this pages background white.
Takeoff
Takeoff
Takeoff (1952) is a SF novella. It is set is the past following World War II and after the establishment of the Atomic Energy Commission.

In this novel, Daniel Holland is the general manager of the US AEC. He is frustrated by the rules and standards set by the commissioners.

James MacIlheny is an insurance agent. He is also president of the American Society for Space Flight.

Michael Novak is a research engineer with a doctorate in ceramics. Mike started his studies in the field of aeronautic engineering, but changed majors in his junior year. He works for the AEC in Nuclear Energy for the Propulsion of Aircraft.

Clifton is a self-taught man. Cliff had worked on various jobs before ASFSF hired him away from Western Air as chief engineer. He is married to Lilly, a god looking Danish woman.

Amelia Stuart is the daughter of Wilson Stuart, chairman of Western Air. Amy is a member of ASFSF.

In this story, Holland invites MacIlheny to Washington for a discussion about nuclear rocket fuel. Holland says that the current position of the AEC will not allow him to start a project to produce such fuel. MacIlheny points out the futility of the current US rocket research. They separate with frustration in each man.

Novak finds NEPA to have underequipped and scarce laboratories and lots of bowing to superiors. Then he gets transferred to the Neutron Path Prediction Division. He finds the mathematics incomprehensible and the theory even more so.

He bombards the Argonne Laboratory director with requests for transfer back to ceramic engineering. Then the director posts a denial of his request on the section bulletin board. Novak fells the director with one blow to the chin and resigns his position.

Novak purchases an advertisement in the Ceramic Industries journal and makes a round of the local employment agencies. He has only negative or foolish responses for ten days. Then he gets a response that offers a job in research and development for high altitude aircraft.

He responds with a telegram and a money order is wired back for a round-trip flight to Los Angeles. When he gets to LA, he stores his bag in a locket and catches a cab to the indicated address. He almost does not go into the office after seeing the name on the door.

ASFSF needs a ceramic engineer to build refractory nozzles for their prototype spaceship. He is carefully told that the craft -- named Prototype -- is only a model for future vessels. Novak is impressed by Clifton, despite his mannerisms.

After signing the contract, Novak is put to work designing a ceramic lab. He draws up a list of equipment and sketches out a floor plan. He is surprised when the design is excepted.

Mike works closely with Clifton. During their tour of the site, he meets Amy testing flight chairs. Then she is picked up by a chauffeur in a limo.

Mike likes the casual nature of the ASFSF members and their dedication to spaceflight. He introduces himself at the monthly meeting and the society members seem to like him. Then he finds Clifton dead in the restroom.

This tale has Mike becoming the chief engineer in place of Clifton. Then the ASFSF comes under fire by a political demagogue and a newpaper chain. Mike has fencing built around the site with no trespassng signs.

This story was published in hardback in 1952 by Doubleday. It was also published as the double novel
Gummy Bear & Friends
Gummy Bear & Friends
The plotlines being shallow and pointless I could forgive; this is clearly not a show with high production values anyway. What I can't forgive is the character designs. Of the main characters, only Harry looks remotely like he belongs in a children's show. Gummy Bear himself looks like your stereotypical fat, unshaven slob, complete with routinely wearing nothing but his underwear, and Kala looks like she was designed by a pedophile. Who gives characters on a children's show permanent five-o-clock shadow or one-piece cutout body suits? Was this even meant to be a children's show in the first place, or did it start life as adult entertainment?
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Everyone who had anything to do with this production, did a wonderful job. The scenery in the first part of the movie was gorgeous. Wherever it is, I want to go there. There was one scene where Katrina Kaif's acting wasn't that great, but she was pretty good in the rest of the movie and she danced and sang well, if that was her voice. I liked her character's faith in Jesus. Her character's relationship with Jesus was more give and take than what I'm used to seeing. I enjoyed watching SRK while he portrayed this honorable character. His character's personality was similar to the altar ego in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The best acting I've seen him do was in RNBDJ. I think it was the first Indian movie I saw him in that got my attention. Though there was a lot of scenes with their religion in that one, it was still an enjoyable movie. In Jab Tak Hai Jaan, the story was also good and it was fun to watch. I recognized many of the dances in this one that were in RNBDJ, but it was still entertaining the second time around. I love all the music in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The later song and dance scenes that the reporter was doing, ran on longer than I liked, but she also sang and danced well and the music was good for dancing. (She was also the main actress in RNBDJ.) I could have seen more of the street dancing, in JTHJ, because it was cool and was refreshing that strangers would have this camaraderie and skillfully danced with strangers. The dances were interesting and music was a good blend. It was disappointing that the reporter was an atheist in the story, but she was very likable, cute and very charming. I liked her energy, courage and boldness. She was also funny and joyful. I liked her better, and thought she and SRK's character made a perfect pair. The first time I saw this movie was on Netflix and liked it so well, that I bought it. It's also tempting to buy the soundtrack.

How to build your own Supercar: The Essential Manual (Essential Manual Series Book 1)
How to build your own Supercar: The Essential Manual (Essential Manual Series Book 1)
This book is total junk! The publisher is just trying to make a buck and has lied about the title! The lines of the car are great, but the car was built when the "project" started. This has ZERO frame design, and is a modification of a one off car. You can't even replicate the book as you can't get the raw car to start with. Totally mis-leading. Additionally all the information given is for fiberglassing, and can be found in any good boatbuilding book for 1/3 of the cost. I am an engineer by trade and would expect a lot more for my money. I would watch this publisher as they do not deliever on their promise in the title

We’ve only had ours two weeks. It got stuck in my daughters hair which was awful.

Today We took it outside and it flew away from all of us. Even if I went around it to try to make it go towards the kids with my hands it would repeatedly run into my hands and keep going where we didn’t want it to go-flying into our neighbors yard and hitting my neighbors window. It crossed half an acre that fast! I retrieved it and set it up again by the front of our yard in the street. It flew up over 20 feet high and soared away, with me running and chasing it and then it went over an acre over our fence and pat through trees into the field of another property. I drove there and asked to look for it and can’t find it anywhere. I searched several acres of flat short grass land and have no clue where our red drone with lights went?

I thought this was a kids toy with limited flying functions.

I bought these for use in doors in my game room so I am not deducting for the fact that they are not very water resistant. Might not be a good idea to use them Outdoors because UPS left Fox Outdoors and these got soaked. I thought they would be fine because they are waterproof but every one of them had water in them. Then I looked and underneath each one is a whole so I'm guessing that's where it got in. I had to leave these in the Sun for a couple of days to dry out and then I tested them and they still work perfectly. So even after getting wet and you can see the obvious corrosion on the circuit boards they still work perfectly. One reviewer stated how they all sing together and not randomly which is just not true. They all start out singing together or at least appearing to because they all start at the same time and you plug them in but over a short time they do their own thing and will not be working together as they are not linked together or sync together as the One reviewer had claimed but in fact they are individual lighting units only powered as one. Love the color blue. These lights are not very long like some of them that you can buy but they are not one-sided either where you can see the light through each side of the circuit board

I am usually weary of buying cheaper chargers online simply because they all claim to be “tough and durable”. But, these were on sale for prime day, so I decided to try them out. So far, so good! I was worried at first that the charger wouldn’t fit with my case since it is waterproof and has a limited opening for a charging port, but, it fits perfectly! So, if you’ve got a Life Proof frē case, these chargers WILL fit! The cable is thicker than most others who claim to be durable (but we all know stop working in a month or two) so I have hope that these will last me a while, especially since three came in the pack. Also, I appreciate that there’s a plastic guard around where the cord meets the head to help reduce excessive bending. I recommend these chargers!
Philips Kaffeemaschine vollautomatisch EP2230/10
Philips Kaffeemaschine vollautomatisch EP2230/10

Picture this, you are a poor college student and your grandma gives you her old office chair. You go about your life using this chair for years on end, thinking this is just how office chairs are. A literal pain in the ass.
Then you come across this, lets say 4-5yrs later.
You can't go back. You'll never go back. In fact, you had no idea that an office chair could be this comfortable. This breathable. The wheels roll smoothly and your lower back and ass have forgotten what pain even means.
Guitar sessions are able to be extended for several more hours, guests no longer complain about their Player 2 chair, and sometimes, you even hop out of that Gaming Chair in favour of this one. Life is Good. And this Chair is the reason. Buy It.

I have kids who have allergies and they have slept better ever since we have this purifier on. I am assuming it is because the purifier does it's job of removing allergens/dust from the air. It is also very quiet and you can hardly tell that it is on. We use it in conjunction with our regular maintenance procedures and it seems to work well. The overall indoor air quality is a lot better once we have had this air purifier on.

The unit is also very easy to operate with respect to it's controls, easy to move around, clean and/or replace the parts.

I was pleased with this air purifier right out of the box. It looks sleek and trendy and comes in a beautiful white color that gels with the interior of my house. But that does not really matter as I did not purchase it as a décor. :-) We have been using this air purifier for the past several weeks and it does its job well.
Oransi OV200 Air Purifier, 15”x24”x7”, White
Oransi OV200 Air Purifier, 15”x24”x7”, White
It's not my usual practice to leave a review on Amazon but after experiencing how AWESOME the Oransi OV200 truly is I HAD to write a review as a form of gratitude for such an effective product.

*Warning* - This is going to be a long post but if you're on the fence about this product you'll be clear of your decision by the end. Thanks for reading! :)

I wanted to order an air purifier because I am the cat mama of two awesome cats. One of my cats, named Chelsea, is 104 in human years (22 in cat years) and she is a long hair Himalayan. She's still kicking and sassy as ever but so overwhelmed by her own long hair that during her grooming sessions she would sneeze from her own dander. That's right, despite my veterinarian's insistence that she isn't, I cannot deny that my cat would have a full blown allergic reaction all day long. She would sneeze pretty much 7-10 times an hour, daily. Her eye would water, her ears get red hot and itchy, and she looks beyond miserable. On bad allergy days she would literally suffer from her own dander and/or outside dander and I could find her curled up in a corner of my bedroom waiting for the day to pass her by. Does cat Claritin exist?!?! The day I got the Onsari I ran it on high for the first 4 hours and decided to do a deep clean of my apartment to kick up all the dander for the air purifier to capture. Regardless of my intensive cleaning her sneezing drastically reduced to about one-two sneezes an hour. By the end of the day her eyes stopped watering, and her heavy breathing from all the mucus build up had completely subsided. I was impressed but the real test for me was when my boyfriend, who is allergic to cats despite his love for them, comes to visit and stay overnight. I had purchased the Oransi with him in mind not realizing Chelsea would benefit but I wasn't completely sure if her allergies has subsided because of the Oransi or my deep cleaning.

The first time I had my boyfriend over he shared that while in the past he had owned a cat himself he was allergic to them. I was skeptical because I'm an obsessively clean cat lady when it comes to my cats and my living space. I've got that automatic Scoop Free Liter box to clean the liter even when I'm away at work and I dump the liter and wash the entire box once a week or once every two weeks if life gets busy. I've got my handy and powerful Dyson vacuum cleaner and vacuum daily. Hypoallergenic bed sheets are my go-to and my mattress is memory foam so not to hold dander. My cats are groomed weekly and bathed once every 3-6 months. Chelsea, goes to the groomer twice a year for a Lion's cut (Everything is shaved except the mane and tail and looks like a mini-lion when done). I've even got Claritin on hand, essential oils defusing, and every manner of pet hair removal product in the event that someone walks into my place and says they're allergic, I've got them. Friends and family that visit my place and claim "they're allergic" are in awe of how they have little to no reaction in my space. I've taken pride in having cats but none of the cat smell. However, none of this mattered for my boyfriend who was fine being in my place but after sleeping overnight he woke up congested, runny eyes, runny nose, and sneezing constantly. He was the picture of misery and had to leave my place immediately the next day. I was determined to find a solution because I love this man and I love my cats but not sure if the two can co-exist in the same room.

I researched A LOT of different air purifiers but was blown away by the reviews on Amazon for the Oransi. It didn't hurt that it was rated as one of the top best air purifiers of 2019, either. AND the price was right considering I only had my bedroom to worry about filtering. The remainder of my apartment didn't create allergic reactions in my boyfriend but Chelsea was still having a miserable day to day experience. My vet was against allergy medicine for her due to her age. So an air purifier seemed like a potential solution.

After seeing Chelsea's allergic reactions immediately subside I was SUPER curious to see if my boyfriend would have a similar experience. He arrived at my place and our plan was to have a day trip to an amusement park the following day. When we met that evening he told me he already took a Claritin before he took a Claritin an hour before his arrival. "Ok. Cool. but darn!" I wasn't sure if I would know if the Oransi had taken effect or not. The next morning we got rained out and decided to stay in and order a movie and some take out. I had the Oransi running at medium level the entire time. He still had no reaction but insisted it was the Claritin. "Whatever, the last time he stayed over he had to leave my place at 7AM because his allergies were so bad, but okay. #eyeroll" We settled into my bed, picked a movie, and ordered take out by the early afternoon. My boyfriend keep saying it was the Claritin working but I knew that the last time he wasn't even able to make it through the night without a serious allergic reaction. We started to watch the movie when the take-out arrived. I left to go get our food and upon my return I find Chelsea and my boyfriend, chilling in my bed my together! Chelsea is curled up next to him. He's petting her affectionately, and she's purring up a storm, neither of them are having an allergic reaction!! In that moment, I knew I the Oransi was worth every dang penny. There sat my cat, allergic to her own dander, and my allergic but animal loving boyfriend sitting in harmony together with out a single allergic reaction between them. He looked up and me and said, "Yes, the air purifier works."

Buy it. You won't be disappointed but be sure to do your research and purchase the right size Onsari to fit the room you wish to filter.

These are one of my favorite childhood snacks! They used to sell them at a store near me but stopped over a year ago. They also came about 5 days earlier than the delivery date. Will buy again!
