Node.js for .NET Developers (Developer Reference)
Node.js for .NET Developers (Developer Reference)
The book is written by an experienced developer but it is full of errors. For example, instead of passing "sql" as the parameter in Chapter 6, the author says that the parameter is "request". Similarly, there are many more programming errors in this book. Did someone review it before putting it on sale?

I am still giving a 2-star because I was able to learn something regarding Node.js. However, Microsoft charged $20.00 for a 80-page book. This is not worth the price.

The Software Engineer's Guide to Freelance Consulting: The new book that encompasses finding and maintaining clients as a software developer, tax and legal tips, and everything in between.
Offers plenty of useful information for getting into software consulting. Much of the material can likely be extended to many general consulting businesses. Contains a few chapters and sections on legal help and tax advise which should be hugely helpful. The authors are sure to remind the reader that a successful software consultant isn't just a coder, they're also businessmen. Doesn't put down full-time engineers (FTE) and provides pros and cons for being a FTE versus a freelance consultant. Goes beyond the scope of running a successful consulting business and touches on personal development and the possible lifestyle as a freelance consultant.

When my current endeavors are complete and I can start a consulting business, this is likely a book I'll reference.

This book unfortunately only receives 4 stars due to the frequent typos. Many words are missing, some words are typed twice, the highly elusive double space is reoccurring. Apparently chapter 12 was so important that there are two of them. Maybe chapter 11 leveled up since the editing of the book.
Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto [A Cookbook]
Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto [A Cookbook]
Absolutely fantastic book. I bought 1 for myself...and then bought 1 for my Dad and one for my Father in Law...Probably get one for my Stepdad Soon as well. I laughed when I read the 1 star reviews. This is NOT a cookbook. This book is about how Aaron Franklin ascended to his position as being one of the best BBQ Cooks in the Nation. He talks about what he did, why he did it, and what he learned along the way. He talks about his victories and defeats and how he gained just a little bit of knowledge during each cook. What he could use he kept, what didn't work, he noted it, and tossed it aside. This is a great book on the science and theory of what is actually happening when you smoke something. The different kinds of wood that is used, the kind of smoker he likes, what temperature he prefers (275'), what he spritz's his meats with while they cook, when to pull the meat off, when to wrap it, what to wrap it with, how and why to rest it..etc. etc...I have been grilling for 20+ years, and been smoking meat for about 10, and this book really really taught me a lot of things, and cleared up some things that I have noticed, but hadn't really figured it out. He explains how to smoke meat in very simple terms. It IS simple to smoke meat...but you can totally screw it up if you don't do it right. A perfect example that he talks about, and I did this when I first started, but luckily figured it out years ago is the fact that rookies see that Beef is done at 160-165 degrees and they think, welp, its done, might as well pull it off. They pull it off and let it sit, and when they slice into it, its tough or if its pork, it doesn't pull or shred at all, and none of the fat has rendered and they think "What happened?? Well what happened is that yes, the meat reached a safe temp to eat, but not the OPTIMAL temp for BBQ. You want the internal temp at 203 degrees instead so the fat can liquefy and give the meat its juiciness and tenderness.
That is just one example. He lays it all out there for you, and doesn't hold anything back. This is a simple process, but the devil is in those details, and he is adamant about them. There are a few recipes in the book, but this isn't a cook book per se. I did like the recipes on the BBQ sauces though and Ive made them all. Aaron keeps it straightforward and simple. If you don't learn anything from this book then you aren't paying attention. I read a 1 star review and the guy goes, "Yeah, I learned to use salt and pepper and post oak....lame"
If you have that sort of mentality, then this book is definitely not for you, but if you want to reach in to what BBQ is, and how it is done right, and then you actually DO what he talks about, you will never screw up a piece of meat again.
The Singles Collection (23 x 7" Vinyl Singles)
The Singles Collection (23 x 7" Vinyl Singles)
Well, this is a surprise. Much like the box of Christmas singles from 2017, not many saw this coming. Why release this and why now? ('With The Beatles' was released 56 years ago on this very day.) I guess only the keepers to the Grail know the reason(s), but as anything Beatles tends to garner column inches and sales many other artists can only salivate over, the answer would probably be "the time was right". Anyway…

A fine box of all 22 UK singles released between 1962 and 1970 with a ‘new’ single of, what could be described as a double A side, ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’. And each one is not only presented in a picture sleeve from 22 countries around the world, but those singles are also on the original labels from that territory (‘Eleanor Rigby’, from Argentina, is on Odeon Pops, for example), all have solid centres, and those in the USA will find the Tollie single unusual in that respect, which I think makes them better by being more aesthetically pleasing, and some of those with Parlophone, or Parlophon, labels also have strange colours, to the UK at least; blue, green and mauve, but the Israeli sleeve for ‘Come Together’ is weird. The 23rd single included had the same sleeves across the globe. Bar seven of the last eight songs, everything is in mono. It all comes in a nice box accompanied by a 40 page booklet that won't really tell you anything you don't already know.

But why these singles and what of the actual songs? Unlike the singles released elsewhere around the globe, where the group didn’t have much control until later, those issued in the UK represented the artistic intent and direction they wanted to go, and by listening to them chronologically, you’ll hear the progression from simple couplets to something far more involved. That 29 of the 44 songs issued on 45s up to 1970 never appeared on UK albums at the time showed they always gave value for money. Whatever the explanation is for bringing this out, this limited edition release is aimed squarely at Beatles die-hards, and at the current price, it’s certainly not an impulse buy. If you just want to listen to the music, there are far cheaper ways to do so.

Yes, there are the inevitable whingers who will say something like “It’s just greed; Ringo must need the money”, or “Rip off” but those people miss the point (and they won’t be buying it anyway). Like that Christmas Records Box, this is for us, not them. And if you want something that adds to your collection, and many of us do, you have to pay for it. (Special Beatles Tax included.)

I've been a dedicated fan of Jimi's since '69. I consider him not just a musician, but a true magician as well. When my purchases were vinyl I'd have to replace them after a while due to wearing them out. I grabbed every posthumous album I could, but when I'd heard how Douglas would delete original bass/drum tracks with people who'd never even played with Jimi I was so utterly offended I stopped for awhile (hoping that someday that blasphemy would be rectified).
I was overjoyed when Jimi's family finally got rights to the catalog, and that Eddie Kramer was going to be involved with the remastering. My joy was diminished however when the music previously unreleased was edited and taking forever to be released (I'm not immortal after all). For instance the first audio box set, the one with 4 CDs and blue velvet cover - there were songs I waited 31 years to hear! Also, 31 years for the Winterland concerts, which is a wonderful box set, but is NOT the complete concerts! Slightly relieved when Dagger released some "official" bootlegs.
Now, to "Stages": I'm grateful that Douglas didn't screw around with it. I did have to pay an exorbitant price to get four concerts, each still in the cellophane, each with the booklets. Some comments mention that a song or songs were not included (damn) but this is a great collection. If you're a die-hard Hendrix fan, it is worth the price to get the "like new" edition.
Lastly, Janie, release the entire catalog while I'm still alive please.
Highway 61 Revisited
Highway 61 Revisited
Highway 61 Revisited is Bob Dylan's profile album. Containing all the sorts of material he wanted to make and all the sounds he envisioned. Dylan takes the opportunity to lash out against others in "Like A Rolling Stone" and lash out against the wild fanfare and press that followed him around in his early years in "Ballad of A Thin Man". This is the obsessive, resentful and fun Bob Dylan that was dwelling deep inside. Al Kooper joins on organ and really defines the mood of the whole album, while Mike Bloomfield joins with some real stoney and radical guitar licks. "From A Buick 6" and the title track get real bluesy and show off some of Dylan's most surreal lyrics while the 11 minute closer "Desolation Row" takes on an intimate portrayal of the world. In Highway 61 Revisited Dylan really sheds his skin and is looking to lose listeners. The music is deviant and tempting, the lyrics are surreal and in your face and the overall tone is one of playful delight, yet, in doing so Dylan has created some of the most captivating songs he would ever make. Fortunately, this album would be followed by his masterpiece "Blonde On Blonde", meanwhile this album will tear out your ears and make you rethink your position in the world. Be sure to checkout "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" , the highlight of the album.
I Contain Multitudes
I Contain Multitudes
The title & general theme comes from poet Walt Whitman’s famous Song of Myself: “I am large, I contain multitudes.”

Atmospherically, a follow-up to Murder Most Foul.

Musically, a spinoff of Dylan’s Sinatra cover albums. Has the same pedal steel from Donny Herron as those recordings. And pretty guitar, with lots of tremolo. Recalls tunes of his like “Soon After Midnight”. Reflective like “Forgetful Heart”. The lyric “madame, get off my knee” echoes a lyric from his song “Things Have Changed”.

Leonard Cohen-like spoken song. The song-poem references the famed romantic poets Blake and Poe. The “skeletons in the walls” refers to Poe’s scary story The Cask of Amontillado.

Red Cadillac and a Black Mustache is a Warren Smith rockabilly song.

As in many of his songs, he plays the characters of a violent outlaw or soldier.
Good as I Been to You
Good as I Been to You
Those who, like me, still love Dylan’s early acoustic music will love this album. In 1992, he decided to return to his roots with covers of some of the best folk tunes we (and he) listened to in the early ‘60s. It was a time when folk music was actually popular—a fact that helped launch Bob Dylan’s own career. On this album I especially appreciate “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” a tune I listen to over and over by Doc Watson, although some of the tunes here are somewhat obscure, even to Vanguard Records folk junkies. There’s even a cover of “Hard Times Come Again No More” by Stephen Foster, also sung by the likes of Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Johnny Cash. And I best remember “Black Jack Davey” (also sometimes called "Gypsy Davey") from the 1974 album “Mo’ Roots” by Taj Mahal.

I was not a fan of most of Dylan’s music during the 1980s and ’90s (“Infidels” being an outstanding exception). Most of that music seemed too harsh and unfocused to me and lacking the poetic depth of his earlier electric music—all of which makes this acoustic album a welcome break of the period. And following Dylan’s late-’80s Christian music, there wasn’t much music from him that stood out for me until “Modern Times” (2006), “Together through Life” (2009), and “Tempest” (2012). all of which contain some of Dylan’s best music, full stop. The other bright spot of his 1994 performance for MTV Unplugged. Those revisions of his earlier music were like hearing new music—still one of my favorite Dylan albums.

This is a cool Dylan t shirt. I usually wear a men's small, but ordering the medium was wise as the shirt is fitted. It fits perfectly, but I would advise ordering a size up. And it shrinks moderately.
JavaScript: The Definitive Guide: Master the World's Most-Used Programming Language
JavaScript: The Definitive Guide: Master the World's Most-Used Programming Language
I first approached JS by buying Eloquent JavaScript and after few chapters I got completely demotivated in continuing studying from that book. Simple concepts were made outrageously complex whereas complex topics didn’t get the treatment they deserved. I then tried few online Udemy courses which were great but can never be as organized as a book.
Then the new edition of Flanagan’s JS guide was released. This book is not an easy bedtime reading. There are tons of concepts to learn there which are often recursive in different chapters, ie you can’t really skip or change the topic sequence of the book.
However I think that the author does a v good job in helping readers understating via precised and short code examples.
So far this is the best book I read on the subject. It is also updated with the latest lexicon of ES6. Remember JavaScript is a living language which get regularly updated and enriched. Books which were good 5yrs ago might not be relevant today any longer. Definitely recommended to whoever is serious in learning the language.

Epure Venezia Collection 4 Piece Hurricane Glass Set - Perfect for Drinking Pina Coladas, Cocktails, Full-Bodied Beer, Juice, and Water (Pina Colada (15.5 oz))
I have been looking for hurricane glasses for smoothies and tropical drinks, but most places don’t have them. So when I found these I figured might as well buy them, the price isn’t terrible and the size seems right! When they came in I was so upset because my package looked as though someone had used it as a stepping stool! Thankfully the manufacturer used so much styrofoam to keep the glasses protected that when I opened it all the glasses were intact! I have used these almost every weekend since I purchased them and love the amount of drink you can fit in them and how sturdy they feel!
Partners In Crime
Partners In Crime
Rupert Holmes' "Partners In Crime" was originally released in/ around September of 1979, and it's where you'll find the huge/ notorious #1 hit "Escape" aka "The Pina Colada Song". Although the song is sly as well as well-crafted & insanely catchy, its whimsical nature might lead listeners to think this 1979 album is some kind of wacky late '70s relic that's best forgotten. That couldn't be less true. Like usual, Rupert wrote every song on this album himself, & he displays his boundless songwriting creativity by unleashing one astonishingly well-crafted, inspired gem after another. "The Pina Colada Song" starts the album off in great fashion, but it's only the tip of the iceberg. The title track makes great use of a galloping drum line, features mind-bogglingly crafty lyrics, and has a deathless chorus. "Nearsighted" is a sentimental, melodic ballad and a solid example of Holmes' knack for writing lyrics that are at once humorous & moving. "Lunch Hour" has an off-kilter verse melody, a hilarious chorus, & an extended salsa-flavored instrumental coda. The reggae-flavored "Drop It" is about wanting a girlfriend to just lighten up & not be so serious & it features some laugh-out-loud humorous lyrics. "Him", another big hit, is a haunting song about a cheating girlfriend and features a punchy, dramatic chorus. "Answering Machine", like "Escape", is another highly whimsical song & unsurprisingly was released as a single (it reached the top 40)--with its mockery of the 30-second time limit of "old-fashioned" answering machines, the lyrics are, in a sense, quite dated in today's high-tech world, but the song is lots of fun nonetheless. He delivers another splendid ballad with the wistful "The People That You Never Get To Love", & song that neatly points out how certain people you casually pass by each day could have been "the one". The album ends with the ultra-catchy minor-keyed "In You I Trust" which is about the comfort of being able to depend on/ have trust in your companion in an otherwise devious, ever-changing (for the worse) world--it's also got a cool, Genesis-y instrumental break. If you're looking for an album that's loaded with catchy hooks, you've come to a great place--it's simply incredible how consistently super-catchy this album is. The production values are absolutely first-rate as well, as are the performances--aside from a Chrissy Faith vocal part on "Answering Machine", Rupert does all the vocals on here & plays all the keyboards, & guitarist Dean Bailin does masterful work playing all the guitars on the album. Rupert's vocals are loaded with personality & he gives just the right vocal treatment to suit each song. To make some comparisons, Rupert's songwriting fluency along with his ease of incorporating various styles brings to mind early Joe Jackson, but without the anger. At the same time, his combination of seedy lyrics & musically sophisticated, at times jazzy, soft rock strongly brings to mind Steely Dan. If you're a Dan fanatic, I can't imagine not loving this. By all means, this is complimentary! One thing about this album though is that his one of a kind knack for humorous-yet-charming romantic lyrics isn't very strongly in evidence. And that's the only thing that makes me hesitant in recommending this album as an ideal place to start discovering Rupert--his smile-inducing, sweetly romantic and tender side is in relatively low abundance on here. It's by no means absent--"Nearsighted" is a solid example, & in a way, so is "Escape", yet "Escape" feels more like a comedy skit-ish song than a heart-tugging romantic one. His 1981 album "Full Circle", as well as his brilliant 1994 "comeback" album "Scenario" both feature his tender side much more strongly on such terrific tracks as "Loved By the One You Love", "You Remind Me Of You", "One Born Every Minute", "The Eighties Never Happened", & "The Hurting Part". Admittedly, this album ends up being pretty low in the `heart-tugging' department--if you`re afraid that might turn you off, try starting with his "Full Circle" album. That's not an actual complaint though--"Partners In Crime" is a unique, brilliant, & irresistibly fun album that any serious music listener will get a blast out of.

(P.S. The standard MCA Records CD version of "Partners In Crime" does feature printed lyrics for each song & thorough album credits, but the sound quality overall is very disappointing, plus certain tracks fade out quite early--considerably earlier than they do on the original vinyl on Infinity Records.)
Gildan Men's Crew T-Shirt Multipack
Gildan Men's Crew T-Shirt Multipack
So the price was right. Hard to complain when it's $2 a shirt. As it turns out, that's about what they're worth. First thing I noticed was that they're short and wide. They're not tapered as suggested in the description and pictures. It's a one-size-fits-all design. That can really be seen in the neck opening. For the Large size that I got, it's a whopping 11.5 inches in diameter. That means for normal men, it will sit low, causing a lot of neck and back to be exposed, and also, the neckline will be really loose. For comparison, my Jockey t-shirts are 8.5 to 10 inches, and a couple that I got at Target (Merona) are 9 inches. To make matters worse, after one wash, the material along the neckline curled badly. An oversized neck opening with a curled rim is NOT a good look. The shirts are simply unwearable in public. So all 6 immediately go into the rag drawer and I'll use them for painting or other messy jobs where it's okay if the shirt gets ruined. No idea why these shirts are getting good reviews.

Fits good. Good quality. Can wear it down, covering my ears fully or I can fold it up above my ears. Either way, it fits like a glove ... or like a beanie. Even has that streetwise tough guy dynamic for when it's not quite warm but too cool to take the beanie off so you kinda late it on top of your head and start reminiscing about real 90s and how the game has changed.
Must Have Apparel
Must Have Apparel
I want to first say that I really love this shirt! The (replacement) shirt fits great, fabric is great and the image is very well done.
However, when I first ordered this shirt I rec'd one that was not sized correctly. I ordered a XXL and it fit like a sausage casing. Too tight all over. I messaged the seller asking what to do. They basically responded that it was not possible that it was too small and that all the shirts are cut the same. He suggested I could return it... that's all. I decided to reorder the shirt hoping it was a fluke. The second shirt was terrific. I returned the original. The pictures show the difference in size between the two shirts that are supposed to be the same. Just be sure to try it on when you get it.
Pictures show 1) Sizes and collar difference 2) Smaller shirt over larger shirt 3) Shoulder seam difference 4) Difference in body size
Flashdance
Flashdance
Paramount have finally released Flashdance on Blu-ray Region A and B,and what a fantastic upgrade from DVD.

Blu-ray video quality:

Continuing the theme of contrasts, Lyne and cinematographer Don Peterman (Men in Black) shot a movie about artistic aspiration in the gritty urban style pioneered by Lyne's countryman Alan Parker for Fame (1980). Lyne then softened the imagery by dispersing smoke into the air in almost every shot such that, according to editor Bud Smith, there were always a few takes that couldn't be used because the actors were obscured. (Midway through production, the studio panicked and ordered that no more smoke be used, and Lyne posted an assistant to watch for the approach of any studio people, so that the smoke machine could be hidden before they arrived.) The result is an often soft, delicately colored image of a type that has gone almost entirely out of fashion in today's world of digital photography and post-production.

Paramount/Warner's 1080p, AVC-encoded Blu-ray is a superb rendition of Lyne's and Peterman's vision, as it was seen by audiences in 1983. The grain and texture of the imagery have been retained without diminishment, but they never become obtrusive (unless one is allergic to even a hint of grain). No attempt has been made to compensate for the original photography's softness with digital tools, which is the correct choice, because the image has fine detail that artificial sharpening or excessive contrast could easily overwhelm. Besides, Lyne and Peterman carefully designed Flashdance for visual contrast between the muted everyday world and the garishly "hyper-real" stage show at Mawby's, with its intense colors and bright lights. A Blu-ray treatment that failed to render both ends of this contrast accurately would not do justice to the film. This Blu-ray does.

Blacks are deep and accurate, and shadow detail is properly rendered in places where you're supposed to see it. Minutia of hair, faces, costumes and the rusting Pittsburgh cityscape are readily discernible, even if they don't pop off the screen in every scene (they're not supposed to). The average bitrate of 26.44 Mbps is sufficient for the rapid dancing scenes, primarily because there are more than a few episodes of simple, quiet conversations in between. In any case, I saw no compression artifacts.

Flashdance was released in Dolby Surround and has been remixed for 5.1, which is here presented in lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1. As is typical of Paramount's remixes, the approach is conservative and does not attempt to create gimmicky rear channel effects where none are warranted. The stereo separation in the original mix was often effective in placing sounds of such locations as the steel mill to the left or right of characters, and those effects have been preserved. Otherwise, the chief beneficiary of the lossless multi-channel treatment is the historic soundtrack. The songs sound airier and more "opened up" than I have ever heard them before, from the moment Irene Cara's voice comes in over the opening titles. The dialogue is occasionally overwhelmed by Giorgio Moroder's instrumental score, but this has always been the case with Flashdance. The sound mixers understood what was important, and dialogue took a backseat to the beat.

Paramount has released four DVD editions of Flashdance. The first in 2002 was featureless. A "special collector's edition" in 2007 added the array of features that have been ported over to this Blu-ray; that edition was reissued in 2010 (without the "special collector's edition" label) under the same cover used for the Blu-ray. In between, in 2009, Paramount re-released the featureless disc as part of their "I Love the 80s" series but included with it a limited edition CD of the soundtrack.

Note that all of the featurettes listed below are essentially part of the same documentary, cut up into segments.

The History of Flashdance (1080p; 1.78:1; 14:43): Lyne, Bruckheimer, associate producer Lynda Obst, Michael Nouri and actor Kyle T. Heffner (who played Richie the cook and aspiring comic) discuss the origin of the project, although there is reportedly much more to the story than they relate. For example, no mention is made of the involvement of other directors, although Brian De Palma was reportedly attached for a time, before leaving to make Scarface.

The Look of Flashdance (1080p; 1.78:1; 9:13): The same group, plus editor Bud Smith and costume designer Michael Kaplan, discuss the film's visual style, especially its costumes.

Flashdance The Choreography (1080p; 1.78:1; 10:10): The important new participant here is choreographer Jeffrey Hornaday. Lyne also discusses the various stunt doubles used to transform Beals into an extraordinary dancer, as well as the "dancing cop" sequence.

Flashdance: Music and Songs (1080p; 1.78:1; 6:14): Giorgio Moroder and music supervisor Phil Ramone are the key participants here. (Note that Bruckheimer says he always referred to the film as a musical.)

Releasing the Flashdance Phenomenon (1080p; 1.78:1; 8:53): Bruckheimer, Lyne and others discuss the film's release and its surprising success.

Teaser Trailer (1080p; 1.78:1; 1:31): Tantalizing.

Trailer (1080p; 1.78:1; 1:58): The trailer is effective, and it includes some quick cuts of footage that did not make it into the final film. Unfortunately, no deleted scenes appear to have survived.

I don't know when Flashdance will be released in the U.K but their is no need to wait, buy this U.S version with confidence it plays on U.K players.

My 5 yr old Grandson wanted Black Panther gifts for his birthday. I purchased a Black Panther Lego set, 6 inch Black Panther super hero figures and a vehicle, and this plush. He was so happy with all the gifts but REALLY pleased with this item. He immediately hugged it and carried it around with him for the rest of the birthday party ! His daddy has since told me that it was his favorite gift this birthday and he sleeps with it every night.
Robot Chicken Season 10
Robot Chicken Season 10
I'm not sure if I outgrew the show or they outgrew me but a lot of the references this season just went over my head. When the show got started there were a lot of 80s references like Transformers, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, and Thundercats but there was barely any of that this year. I think GI Joe was the only one to have a longer sketch; He-Man I think had a couple of short ones. There was a lot more girls stuff that maybe my nieces would have gotten better than me but then they're 8 and 9 so I wouldn't let them watch this anyway.

21 Jump Street
21 Jump Street
From my site [...]

Based on the 1987 TV show that launched Johnny Depp this self aware comedy was one of the freshest movies of 2012. Channing Tatum really showing off his comedic chops and Jonah Hill’s own brand of comedy worked so well together that 21 Jump Street was absolutely the funniest movie of 2012.

Despite a rocky personal history Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) bond in policy academy and become fast friends. After graduating from the academy, being sub-par cops land the two in a strange undercover program that puts cops into local high schools. Chief Hardy (Nick Offerman) does a great job of setting up the concept of the movie while at the same time berating Schmidt, Jenko, the plot of the movie itself, and the overall lack of creativity in recent Hollywood projects. “We’re reviving a canceled undercover project from the ’80s and revamping it for modern times. The people behind this lack creativity and they’ve run out of ideas, so what they do now is just recycle s*** from the past and hope that nobody will notice.” Captain Dickson (Ice Cube) is the man in charge of running Jump Street. He was the first to admit he is the stereo-typical angry black man. Almost all of Dickson’s lines are shouted, but they are also all hysterical. Dickson puts Schmidt and Jenko on the case of finding a new synthetic drug called HFS (look the acronym up yourself) after a kid at the school dies from the drug, a fact no one at the school seems to care at all about. Schmidt and Jenko find the dealer in with ease but the supplier proves to be a much harder task. Eric Molson (Dave Franco) is the environmentalist popular guy at school and the popular click takes a liking to Schmidt immediately where Jenko gets stuck with the nerdy kids because their identities get switched. The role reversal was a brilliant comedic move and the bizarre situations are knowingly over-the-top but the comedy all ramps up and actually does contribute to the plot of the movie.

Channing Tatum didn’t start his film career with the best movies and only dabbled in comedies. 21 Jump Street shows that Tatum can handle more than strutting with his shirt off and second rate action movies. Only a few of Tatum’s gags are physical and his willingness to look stupid and put himself out there conflicts with his past film resume but sell the comedy on Jump Street so solidly. Jonah Hill comes from the complete opposite side of the industry than his co-star. Hill has been known for his comedies and most of them are quite funny. In 21 Jump Street Hill doesn’t get to stretch his acting as far as Tatum appeared to but he is still very funny and his on-screen personality gets to clash nicely with the action in the movie. The supporting cast is equally as funny as the lead actors despite their somewhat limited screen time. Dave Franco (yep, the brother of the amazing James Franco) plays the popular drug dealing Eric Molson. Franco has done some very funny material. Along with smaller roles in movies he also did a great series with his older brother for Funny or Die. After 21 Jump Street he should be getting some more substantial comedic roles. The absolutely adorable Brie Larson plays the closest thing to a love interest this movie gets. Schmidt falls for her the second he arrives back at school and she fell in line properly with the popular crowd. Larson is really the only character in the movie who got to show some range of emotion. She is funny with the rest of the cast the majority of the time but she also plays the heart-broken school girl very well. Ice Cube doesn’t really strain himself as an actor but the man is very funny and embraces his stereo-typical role well.

For a movie based off of an 80s TV show its safe to say expectations weren’t high. Screen Writer Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Manic, Project X) took a silly idea and ran with it. Admitting that the movie was goofy and having the lead actors be just as goofy as the core concept let the audience sit back and really enjoy themselves. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller don’t have extensive amounts of directorial experience but they certainly did due diligence to a fantastic script.

If you haven’t give 21 Jump Street a change. It is funny from the opening shot to the end. The story is told along with the jokes, it doesn’t suffer from switching tracks because it can only handle one thing at a time. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill make a brilliant comedic team. 21 Jump Street is a mockery and pays homage to the serious show it was based on.
Imagine That!: How Dr. Seuss Wrote The Cat in the Hat
Imagine That!: How Dr. Seuss Wrote The Cat in the Hat
In 1954, children were having problems learning to move from knowing how to read a few words to being able to read a book. When Life Magazine covered the issue, they suggested that a new book be made by Dr. Seuss. Unable to use his signature made-up language and words, Dr. Seuss had to follow a strict vocabulary list instead. Luckily on that list were the words “cat” and “hat” and the author was inspired. He used easy rhymes and silly illustrations combined with dynamic storylines to get children to turn the pages. Soon Dr. Seuss was creating more beginning readers and publishing others by different authors. It was the birth of the popular early-readers for children and Cat in the Hat remains one of the best! This picture book is a fascinating look at the author’s process and the way that the challenge inspired him creatively. The illustrations combine classic Dr. Seuss elements with Hawkes’ own style. Young writers will be inspired by this look at Dr. Seuss. Appropriate for ages 6-9.

One Piece, Vol. 11: The Meanest Man in the East
This was another one of Oda's masterpieces! I am 10 years old, and enjoyed this immensely! I highly recommend this to kids of this age or a little older. This is a great book to read to your kid if you're a parent reading this review, if you are an interactive teacher than this series would be good for you and your class, if your a kid reading this than go ahead and read the One Piece Series!! There is some brief language but nothing really inappropriate. This is a adventurous story that could make anyone laugh young or old. There are many levels to this story, so even an adult could appreciate that hilarity of the plot line. I highly recommend this book to humans ages 8 through zombie. Have fun and enjoy!!

Wild Flower: The True Story of a Romanian Girl in Africa
Wild Flower: The True Story of a Romanian Girl in Africa
This story of courage and following your soul's purpose in life is very inspiring. Nina's unwavering strength and truth shine through in this book. It moved me to want to be of service, and understand that deeply rooted ideologies are difficult but not impossible to change. She's a visionary and trailblazer, and this book serves as a call for action. It is an issue of humanity coming together to protect not only the most vulnerable, children, but also the divine feminine all together. This book, and its author are fighting for an honorable cause, and may we all strive to help another human being with no agenda or gain. Simply to help keep someone alive, or educate and empower the men to want to protect their sisters, daughters, and wives from FGM.

One of Horatio Alger's better books, over thirty chapters long and free, well worth a read
The Quinn Brothers: 2-in-1 (Chesapeake Bay Bundle Book 1)
The Quinn Brothers: 2-in-1 (Chesapeake Bay Bundle Book 1)
This combined first two books of the Chesapeake Bay saga [Sea Swept and Rising Tides] introduces us to the Quinns, a family of now-grown bad boys adopted by Dr. Quinn and her husband, both great role models for anybody. The saga opens with the gathering of the three men due to the dying of their last parent, the father, in the first book which tells world-traveler/champion boat racer Cameron's story, and introduces the central problem of the series which all three brothers have to resolve: Seth, a young boy with mysterious background - who looks remarkably like their father, the father that they know would never have been unfaithful to their now-deceased mother. Because he is dying as a result of an auto accident while transporting Seth to his home, there is no time - and no document - to explain. But Seth needs the three brothers Quinn as much as they ever needed the two wonderful people who adopted them. Who is Seth? What is his relationship to the Quinns, and what happened to the money in the Quinn banking account? How can three men whose careers span the world take care of Seth? Without some authority or legal relationship, how can they even keep Seth, with the system ever-ready to gobble him up? Why is Seth so afraid???? RISING TIDES tells Ethan's story. Deeply scarred by his early life, Ethan alone remained in the area, making his living on the sea, and dreaming of building beautiful boats. Each of the brothers has to make sacrifices and changes to be true to their upbringing and the promise they made to their father, but it's especially hard for Ethan, who has become a loner out of what he believes is necessity. The story of how the brothers mesh their lives, woo the reluctant and fearful Seth into brotherhood, and finally unravel the mysteries continues into the third book, and Seth's adult story completes the series with the fourth Chesapeake Bay book. Entertaining and uplifting, this is a great buy!
Sometimes They Come Back
Sometimes They Come Back
This is a movie that was originally made for television. Based on a short story by Stephen King, it follows a high school teacher who battles against some undead boys that come back for revenge on him and his family. Jim Norman is hesitant to take a job in the town where he witnessed the murder of his older brother, and the greasers who committed the act killed in an accident. However, he needs the work, and his wife thinks it is a chance for him and their family to start over after a history of breakdowns and anger issues that have cost Jim his previous career. However, shortly after getting to town, Jim finds that the students in his senior history class are slowly being killed off, only to be replaced by boys that look strangely familiar. After some odd occurrences, which involve the police suspecting Jim of the murder of the teens, he comes to the conclusion that the new students are in fact the boys who murdered his brother 27 years earlier, somehow come back to life. It is up to Jim to protect his family from their bloody vengeance.
Because it was meant as a television movie to be shown during family viewing time, there is no real bloodshed, gory elements, or vulgar language in this film. There is one slightly erotic moment between a man and his wife, but nothing is actually shown. I would not even call this movie an actual horror film, but more of a suspense flick with some supernatural elements. It stars Tim Matheson and Brook Adams in the main roles as Jim and his wife, and there is an appearance by Newhart star William Sanderson as the only one of the gang of greasers that escaped the accident, now a broken-down drunk. Though the cast is top-notch, this movie tends to drag at times, mainly relying on Matheson's ability to play a confused, tragedy scarred individual who is desperately trying to convince everyone, including himself, that he is not insane. Though it is tension-filled, this movie never goes over the top, and I would recommend it for people who are, or who have children that are, just cutting their teeth on horror.

El demonio y la senorita Prym / The Devil and Miss Prym (Spanish Edition) by Paulo Coelho (2001-09-02)

Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 21: Tournament of the Heavens
Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 21: Tournament of the Heavens
In the latest Strongest Under the Heavens tournament, Trunks and Son Goten demolish their opposition in the youth bracket without even trying, and fight one another in the final – but who will get to go up against Hercule? And will he be revealed as the charlatan he is? In the adult tournament, the usual suspects get into the finals as well as some new characters like the mysterious Shin and Kibito. But this tournament becomes truncated as finally Buu (here written as Boo) appears!

It says a lot about his skills as a storyteller and artist that Akira Toriyama can take minor characters like Kuririn and Videl, make them the focus of the book, and still make it as gripping to read as if it were Goku vs Vegeta. Those are the only two who have matches in the tournament – the others qualified but having them fly off to meet a separate, bigger threat shows how much they’ve outgrown this setting. It’s also a notable volume for being the first time a female character – Videl – has had a starring match in the series. She gets the crap beaten out of her but still.

Goten and Trunks are adorable as they try to sneak into the adults’ tournament standing on each other’s shoulders hidden under a costume as Mighty Mask – and yet nobody’s the wiser! The people in the DBZ world are the most gullible, brain-dead people ever. They see characters flying, firing fireballs, and changing their hair colour instantly, right in front of them, but they still insist everything’s “a trick”. It’d be like if the people in the DC or Marvel universes didn’t acknowledge that Superman or Spider-Man were real! At a certain point, you’ve gotta make the surrounding world acknowledge the superheroes in it.

This volume’s (thankfully) a good read after quite a few duds. It’s a classic Dragon Ball-type book with great martial arts action in a tournament setting and I really liked it. That and the Buu storyline kicking off sees the series returning to form. Here’s hoping it keeps getting better and the series ends on a high!
The Witnesses (BookShots)
The Witnesses (BookShots)
Ronald Temple, with his Zeiss binoculars and oxygen machine, is a well-created character with a plausible axe to grind. He spies on his neighbours seeing suspicious behaviour everywhere and looking for an opportunity to be an all-American-hero. But, Ronald feels guilty and hears voices…

Then the story, though very readable, starts to falter when a family under some kind of witness protection arrives but with only one protecting agent: Jason is the armed, ex-military serviceman who exists in so many other books and films it’s like meeting an old friend.

I soon began to wonder if James Patterson had much to do with this short story? It doesn’t flow well, and although I did want to read it to the conclusion, I was left disappointed. I conclude that Brendan DuBois wrote this from a draft or concept belonging to James Patterson.

Would James Patterson have ever written this? ...

CHAPTER 17: A second or two passes, feeling like an hour. He smiles. “Of course.” His right hand slowly goes to his pocket and her throat is dry, her hand is on her holster, and he comes back with the wallet, from which he pulls out a driver’s licence.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for encouraging new authors, but I feel it is wrong to use established authors’ names to promote them. Maybe a review, synopsis or forward, written by James Patterson would be better?

I’ll rate this as 3-star book if written James Patterson – because he is capable of much better.
As Brendan DuBois’s first book – I’d give it an encouraging 4 stars and look out for more of his work.

Revolting Rhymers: Competition Winners
Revolting Rhymers: Competition Winners
This kindle freebie are the poems that won and placed in a poetry contest for young children. The contest was to celebrate a new production of Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.
For poetry by children under the age of 13, they are pretty good and properly gruesome. It’s nice to know that there are children out there who wonder about the BFG’s poo. Each poem includes a brief interview with the author – favorite Dahl work, favorite disgusting bit – things like that.
There is also a selection of poetry in Welsh. The poems are not translated but the interviews are.
The Inklings: C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and Their Friends
The Inklings: C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and Their Friends
The Inklings has already achieved renown as a classic study of the literary fraternity centered around J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams. For those who already know something of these authors, it is the rare perspicacious look into the lives and careers of these three men. However, for those not well acquainted, the caricatures of Tolkien and Lewis that developed as a result of their celebrated writings need to be dispelled before seeing why reading the Inklings is worthwhile.

Tolkien was not merely the author of popular children’s stories. He was also a master of ancient Germanic languages and lore, an important interpreter of Beowulf and a devout Roman Catholic. In fact, he viewed his fiction as a method of providing young readers with a mythology that could serve as a propaedeutic to Christianity. His genius was of an almost unparalleled level. He and his sons would go for walks in the woods where they would play chess by remembering where all the pieces were in their mind.

Lewis was no slouch by comparison. He wrote his Narnia series as an allegory of the Christian narrative. He wrote volumes upon volumes of Christian apologetics. And he was a masterful professor of English literature at both Oxford and Cambridge. His examinations of undergraduates were legendary for the clear thinking and well reasoned arguments he demanded of his students.

These figures really should be regarded as towering intellects of the twentieth century. Because of the decline in interest in the humanities their truly groundbreaking contributions to humankind are not fully recognized. But hopefully, as their writing stands the test of time and the liberal arts awaken from their identity obsessed slumber, they’ll be reestablished as the giants of intellect they truly were.

Born in a Small Town: The Glory Girl/Promise Me Picket Fences/Midnight Sons and Daughters (Midnight Sons #7) (Harlequin Superromance, No 936)
This story is a tale of a very young girl that falls in love at a young age and even though the love of her life leaves their town, he eventually returns and her heart still has the same feelings and she fights her feelings and in the end all is well with the two lovers.
Well done and leaves those of us with romantic hearts, are not disappointed.
Debbie Macomber books are always entertaining and the men are so gorgeous, as always, and she spins a new story around the sexual tension and beauty of Alaska, actually makes one wonder if the cold is all that bad, interesting observation.
The Birds
The Birds
'The Birds'(1963)-I recently got a 2012'augmented reality' DVD of this film & was disappointed
the disc was the same one issued in 2005(with a different cover). So I've now purchased a 50th anniversary(2013)bluray edition- I'll give details of what's on the different discs:
the DVD -The film(114mins) has clear soundiing English & German (mono) language options with subtitles in those + Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian & Finnish .
The films Technicolor print wasn't 'remastered' ,but for the most part still looks good apart from a brief 'in the house bird attack' later on where the picture has some noticiable damage .Although this section is darker ,so the 'wear & tear' on the print doesn't stand out as it would have in some other scenes in the film.
The real 'problem' with the picture on this disc is that it's still in old TV 4:3 ratio.
The main extra is a very good 'Making of' (80mins) from 1999 (available with subtitles)-This is in 4:3 ratio, but has scenes from the film in 'widescreen'. The documentary has input from the screenwriter(Evan Hunter), many of the production + technical crew, with stars Tippi Hedren,Rod Taylor & Veronica Cartwright + others involved & audio segments with Hitchcock in conversation with Peter Bogdanovich ,& goes into detail about the inspired decision to use a sound collage of amplified & distorted bird sounds rather than a standard music score & much more ,this is very entertaining & it also makes it clear just how complicated a film this was to put together & make 'the fantasy premise' seem all too convincingly believable.
The other extras are: A 'deleted scene', that is a few still images + some pages from the screenplay shown in order.
The 'original ending'- more screenplay pages + storyboard images.
An amusing(10min) Tippi Hedren screen test (with Martin Balsam standing in for Rod Taylor)
A(3min) Universal News promotional from1963 for A.H. + 'The Birds'.
A photo gallery featuring over 80 images -of promotional pics, on set action, advertising materials, posters ,screen cards etc . With a 5min promo 'trailer'( really a four and half-min A.H. comic set piece followed by 30secs of unnerving trailer) to finish.
So a fine film(as you most probably know already) that doesn't seem to age and nearly always appears to have something in there you weren't previously aware of ,in a decent looking print ,a very good documentary + some other worthwhile extras.
The BLURAY DISC-mine is an Italian copy(titled Gli Uccelli) but otherwise is the same as the standard UK one & is easy to navigate. To start with, the image is now in 1.85:1 widescreen(1080p Hi-Def) & has clearly been well restored, with the few scratches & blemishes removed. On my (non HD)TV the colours & depth are good + the 'special effects' still look convincing.
The English audio is in 'DTS-HD master'2 channel with Japanese,French ,Italian ,German & Spanish options & with choice of 20 different subtitles.
The Bluray has all the extras available on the DVD .+ A (14min)'Hitchcocks monster movie' feature ,a 14min audio segment with Hitchcock in conversation with Francois Truffaut(1962), a (9 min) Universal films restoration feature & a 9min Universal films backlot feature with M. Mann, S.Spielberg ,M.Streep & others.
Unfortunately unlike some of Hitchcock's other films on DVD/Bluray there isn't a commentary feature ,but the improved image & reasonable prices this is available for make this a very attractive package on Bluray & if you've only got a DVD player the discs can be bought for bargain prices -making this one for your collection.
So although having 'The Birds' available in its correct ratio available only on region1 DVDs was frustrating, finally getting the film in 'widescreen' with a nicely cleaned up print led to this Bluray, & I think one of my better purchases...

Special Treatment
Special Treatment
Back of the cover - Susannah was a successful writer for Tomorrow magazine, but the new managing director - the dynamic Hazard Maine - made it clear that he thought she was cheating her way to the top. It didn't help their working relationship, either, that Susannah found him devilishly attractive. So attractive that she allowed him to believe the worst of her; so that she wouldn't be tempted to fall in love with him! Why, when he despised her, id he insist on singling her out?

Really find it annoying when the hero thinks he knows everything and treats the heroine as such. All because of his preconceived notions! Could understand better if he had been directly involved in the hurt that caused him to carry around this preconceived idea but he was NOT one of the players in that. He was a child!!! At any rate, we are subjected to all of Hazard's cruelties towards Susannah through most of the book yet we only get a few short pages of his grovelling. I think he should have grovelled more. Especially after he had deliberately allowed her to think he was in love with her and that he told her in so many words that he didn't really care for her; she turns catatonic and he attempts to seduce her or rape?
Out Of Control: Reflections on Matters of Life and Death
Out Of Control: Reflections on Matters of Life and Death
I’ve known Harry Wittenberg since high school, and like most of his friends I was both devastated by his diagnosis of ALS and wowed by his resilience. I’ve read most of the pieces in this book as blog posts, but I’m happy for the opportunity to spend more time with his writing in the warmer and less distraction-prone medium of the book. What we find in this volume is a testament of great strength and generosity.

What does a man who has always managed to pack more in the hours of a day than just about anybody I know do when he’s faced with a terminal, degenerative disease? In Harry’s case he takes on the gift and responsibility of communicating what he’s going through, both to make sense of the senseless to himself, and to convey the experience to others. Sure there’s anger and frustration, and Harry doesn’t avoid facing those things in his writing, but paradoxically, there’s also the time to reflect upon and savor a life well lived.

The book is not an autobiography, but it’s a self portrait of a kind, approached from many angles. Harry writes with utter candor about the challenges he faces, and with sprit about his relentless pursuit of responses, be they technical or emotional, to the progress of his disease. But he also spends much time on the things he’s thankful for, the things that form the core of his being. The book is really a document of survival of the most urgent kind, when the end is in sight.

Ultimately, Harry’s writing transcends the interest of friends and family. I think this volume can help give comfort and strength to people who are living through all sorts of crises, health and otherwise, and to the people who care for them.

Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic
This is a curious book, as everything about Harry Potter is curious. But it is a very good and much appreciated book as well. It takes you through the history of magic. In that sense it is actually a great reference for those interested in historical topics and myths. The book makes an ideal great gift for muggles and budding wizards alike that want to solidify their base knowledge about magic. The 144 page book is filled with colourful illustrations and art. So it is all very nicely presented. This makes it a great addition to our daughter’s growing Harry potter collection and book shelf in particular.

The book addresses ancients myths and mythical creatures, astronomers, mermaids, unicorns, medieval witchcraft and alchemy - all of course tying into to Harry’s world of magic. There is a whole background story about dragons and brooms. Then there are detailed explanations about Hogwarts classes like the Defence Against the Dark Arts, Divination and Herbs. Furthermore there are sketches and manuscripts from the grand wizard herself; J.K Rowling as well. So it is really a very rich, complete book.

The book includes interactive instruction to create your own ‘magical ‘ potion like invisible ink as well. My Potter-crazed daughter wrote me a letter with this and I can confirm the text was absolutely invisible, as the included picture demonstrates.

Note that it it was produced along with the British Library to support the exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic, we sadly missed that. However there was also a tv documentary that can be found online.

Against the Sun | NON-USA Format | Region B Import - Australia
A tremendous film about three guys ... no one's an olympic hero or WW I fighter pilot (Eddie Rickenbacker) who warrants anything special. Three guys, tired, in the days very shortly after WW II's start ... of the carrier U.S.S. Enterprise. Not much happening in the way of technological improvements to fighter bombers so quickly after Pearl Harbor. Each makes mistakes that contribute to their running out of fuel and being off course, when they ditch. They land and have very, very little in the way of anything to improve their chances of survival. These are all young men from the Depression, one at least, with Civilian Conservation Corps background. I had a father in law who raved about how the CCC took him from impoverishment in the hills of Arkansas, may have given him a uniform and shoes, boots, and sent him to Montana. The CCC sure is needed now. Republicans (Repugs) don't know the myriad good the CCC did all over the country, certainly here in the West. Thousands of check dams, trails in the national parks, roads, etc., were made by the CCC. In fact, the CCC stood as a ready pool of young men who'd been trained as if in basic training in the Army. They'd learned discipline, and "how to do" things that these guys exhibit as they are in a life raft for 30+ days. No heroics, as in "Unbroken." Very low key. See "Mission of the Shark" to understand what torture it must've been to go five or more days with very little food, but worse, NO WATER when they were surrounded by water. That took discipline to NOT take a sip. One scene shows the pilot taking a sip. I've understood one good gulp of sea water would be enough to set off madness. But by the Grace of God, they're rained on.They manage to get some meat ... and eat some fish. And, avoid sharks. They become human beings certainly, in front of our eyes. I admired the hell out of these guys who managed to pull survival tricks out of their butts ... and combined their knowledge, and fortitude, without madness or brutality or competition over taking them. These were men who just went on to serve out the war in their own ways. Dead reckoning paid off in the end. So did prayer. That one was able to help the others pray ... wow. Prayer is often overlooked. As a combat disabled infantryman from Vietnam, whose survived death more than one www.desertexposure.com/apacheria
I can say, prayer has saved me alone, in a survival situation sliding and falling down a mountain, breaking my right ankle, having to set the ankle and get down the mountain on the shortest day of the year .... 21 December, 2009. I'd gotten some of that from infantry training. And, not some kind of: "I'm going to get good and mad and fight this!" but just: keep going. Pray. Do what you can. Know panic when it sets in. Panic is different for each person. Hurrying was panic. I'm glad I'd been alone hiking enough (as these guys had in different situations from their homes), to recognize it; pray; ask God (help me to slow down ... going too fast could cause a catastrophic event to cascade ... lose sense of presence and lose the situation & just flounder about). These guys were every bit as brave as the guy in "Unbroken." They did not have the prisoner of war experience he did in "Unbroken." Don't forget: the Japanese have NEVER apologized, formally, with reparations, to all the thousands of Western pows they killed in prisoner of war camps. The "Rape Of Nanking" was real. Yet, modern Japanese act like it didn't happen. At least the Germans have made reparations and deep, national amends. There is something dangerous about an entire nation (as Turkey with the Armenian Holocaust), pretending it didn't happen. But, these guys show American spirit and tenacity in a simple, straightforwardness that neither Germans or Japanese have when it's combined with being raised in a democracy. At least, for that era.

We’ve only been using it 2 months but so far the zipper has held up and it holds quite a few containers Of food for my daughters teen lunch and an ice pack. It won’t fit a large water bottle but it would fit a plastic disposal one or a juice box with containers too.

Never Sound Retreat (The Lost Regiment series Book 6)
Loved the whole series. Arrogant carnivorous wookies brought down to size by the fundamental Christian values of 19th Century Americans. Liberty for all and death to the evil hordes. No matter how many Russians. Romans. Carthaginians or Chinese die in the struggle. Hundreds of thousands are sacrificed in the great crusade against the people eating hordes of the horsed horror. You can almost smell the blood and sweat and feel the terror. Everything is given by both sides in a war of annihilation. Sweeping and heroic with Keane and his Major Generals holding back and then destroying the hordes.

Based on the series episode, Helen leads the team to an anomaly. As dodos emerge, Helen slips away. Connor's friends Duncan and Tom steal a dodo accidentally left behind by the team. If you're familiar with the series, you'll remember what came next.

The adaptation remains true to the episode adding only descriptive explanations and filling in emotional context to introduce dialog. If you want to relive the episode, you'll enjoy this book. The book is also a good introduction to the series.

The publisher, Puffin Books, also offers A Rip in Time and The Lost Predator.

Advent calendar box is made very nicely, but it didn't come with the 24 little gifts to add daily. Since the seller didn't mention that, I (grandmother) sent 2 boxes to my grandchildren without anything to stuff it with. So disappointed. Please offer that info in the future and suggest gift ideas to purchase separately. Thank you. It is too late for me since the first week of December is gone. Thank you.

Renew PeriProtect Skin Protectant, 4 oz. Tube Powder Scent Cream, 00435 - Sold by: Pack of One
I really liked how it helped with diaper rash and protected the skin from moisture. But what I didn't like was that it has a lot of hard lumps in the cream. I was expecting the cream to be creamy and smooth all the way through and not have a lot of hard lumps that you have to rub into the baby's skin. Rubbing hard lumps into a babies diaper rashed skin has got to be rather painful and irritating for the infant.

My cord for my Wacom tablet developed a loose connection, so I ordered this replacement. It's actually way better than the cord that came with the tablet! The original cord was made to plug in upside down, which is what I think made it short out. This one plugs in the right way; the cord doesn't get a kink in it at the part that plugs in. So happy I bought it!
Dogxiong Silver/Light Blue/Grey/Platinum Sim Card Tray & Micro SD Memory Card Holder Container Replacement for LG G6
Dogxiong Silver/Light Blue/Grey/Platinum Sim Card Tray & Micro SD Memory Card Holder Container Replacement for LG G6
As stated in headline, this is NOT a glass door cover for the LG G6. It is just another hard-plastic cover replacement. I am aware that the listing title "Genuine Glass Door Case Replacement" is construed to be a replacement to the glass OEM glass cover, but I was really hoping it meant the title literally, implying I would get another glass cover for my phone.

I feel further scammed after the seller answered this question: "is this gorilla glass or just plastic?" with "the same with original glass. don't worry!!!!!" under the Customer Questions section of this product. Reading this prior to ordering the product, I felt confident I was getting some new glass for my phone.

I would leave less stars but the door cover replacement does fit well, is packaged nicely, and has pre-installed adhesive to attach back to my phone. I just wanted the quality of the OEM glass, which this product is certainly lacking.
Covered in Pet Fur: How to start an animal rescue
Covered in Pet Fur: How to start an animal rescue
This is absolutely amazing, I have never left any comment on anything on Amazon, and this book was so amazing that I just had to give it an amazing review! This book not only gives you detailed ways to improve and invest time in that of rescuing animals - it literally is a step-by-step guide and is like an activity book that teaches you something each chapter and at the end of said chapter it gives you "challenges" to do for you to learn and for you to start making plan for your future rescue or to improve a rescue that you volunteer at or own!

To me this book is more like The Holy Bible of companion animal shelters and rescues! I am highlighting as much as I can for quick references later in life and I am taking notes too! This book will ALWAYS be my go to for later in life when I open my own no-kill cat and dog shelter.

I originally googled books for starting up an animal rescue and this nook was one of the very first ones to pop up. I ope ed the link to only this one, read the description and I was sold - and I chose right.

I hope others buy this book and take as much information as they can from it to hekp improve the lives of our beloved neglected, abused/abandoned pets and strays.

Thank you so much for selling this book for such an affordable price, this book from now on for me will only be used for good. That is a promise.
Celestron ExploraScope 22103 114AZ Reflector Telescope
Celestron ExploraScope 22103 114AZ Reflector Telescope
I am using it for almost one month. Thing I like about this telescope are
1. Good stable mount - I preferred to use AZ mount as it is easier to use. It has slow motion adjuster which is some time difficult to operate but it is useful to track object when using high magnification. Mount is light weight and very easy to carry. Assembly of scope with mount is just two step and can be done within a minute.
2. Overall very compact size - I wanted a telescope which could give magnification in 150 - 250x range so I went for this telescope. Its focal length is 1000mm and primary mirror is 114mm, telescope tube itself is short around 600mm. This is not a true Newtonian reflector but a Bird Jones version, which has spherical corrector lens in focus tube to correct for spherical abbreviation and increase focal length. Overall weight of the telescope is 3-4Kg and its very easy to move and carry this with you.
3. Performance - Since it is a bird jones design it has some slight disadvantage over true Newtonian reflector telescope like overall FOV would be less then same aperture size Newtonian scope. Corrector lens would slightly reduce the brightness. But higher magnification and compact size overcome these disadvantages. My experience is below 150x magnification image quality is good and it is easier to focus the image but should have good quality eyepiece. Above 150X magnification resolution of focus knob is not sufficient to accurately focus the image, you have to give several trials to fine focus the image. From my experience till around 210-220x magnification only you get fine sharp image. Cluster and nebula views are good with this scope. I have seen just seen Venus and Jupiter planets as of now. For Venus you need good eyepiece and filter to get good image. Jupiter viewing is good, you can clearly see its four moon and depend on viewing condition you can see some more detail of Jupiter. View is best with plossl eyepiece and magnification of 150-200x.
Things which I do not like of the product are the eyepieces supplied with it. First one is 20mm erecting eyepiece, it is good for terrestrial viewing but due to its very small fov it is useless for finding objects in sky. At low or medium magnification, it will be good to have at least one eyepiece that is having good fov. It will be helpful in quickly locating and studying the objects in sky. I have celestron 15mm Kellner eyepiece from the Astromaster eyepiece set. With this you get good fov but image is focused around centre, you will see blurred star images at the edges but it is still sufficient to locate the object. From the same astromaster kit I have 6mm plossl eyepiece that gives nice and detail image at 166X zoom. Second 4mm Kellner eyepiece that comes this telescope is also not useful most of the time as I have 6mm plossl that gives me better image then 4mm. With 4mm you get 250X magnification and with this you can watch some good detail of moon surface. Planets and deep sky object view are not sharp with this. This telescope also provides 3x barlow which can be used only with 20mm eyepiece. Some time I use this barlow with my 15mm eyepiece that give me 200X zoom.
This telescope is good if you like manual AZ mount and need compact and light weight product. Focusing at high magnification is challenge and you need to purchase some good quality eyepieces to experience true potential of this scope. My suggestion is buying plossl eyepiece for high magnification and some good quality 15 -25mm wide FOV eyepiece. If you need to do collimation then buy laser collimator as it is easiest and accurate method. But make sure you remove corrector lens from focus tube before doing collimation.
You will also receive starry night simulation software. It is good tool to study star positions and useful in finding some great deep sky objects.

Coming Around Again
Coming Around Again
I've listened to Carly Simon's records since 2000, and I know nearly every one of her songs by heart. "Coming Around Again" was Carly's supposed "comeback" and "hits" record -- her last few albums, sadly, didn't get the exposure that it so richly deserved.

Carly employs a few guest artists/songwriters here -- Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams, and the late Michael Brecker. Michael plays a rare synthesizer instrument on the song "Do The Walls Come Down." He also plays a very mean saxophone solo on "Two Hot Girls (On A Hot Summer Night)". He would continue to guest solo on more of Carly's songs until 1993.

The title track is a nod to Paul Samwell-Smith, who was responsible for producing Carly's 1971 mega smash LP, "Anticipation." I love how the drum programming sounds too. Carly urges a potential lover that she wants him to give ALL of himself -- and not HALF of anything -- in "Give Me All Night." On the cover song, "As Time Goes By", Stevie Wonder plays an even meaner harmonica, but it's so very sweet-sounding at the same time. And it sounds like only the way that HE can play it!! :)

"The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of" is another important song. It starts out lush and quiet, but by the end of the song, it completely explodes into a full-on choir! Now who can resist that, folks?? :) "All I Want Is You" is my second favorite song on this record. Carly sings to her potential lover that he shouldn't worry about the neighbors or what anyone else thinks about their love for one another, i.e. that nothing else really matters.

The last song, "Itsy Bitsy Spider", is a playful spin-off of the title track. Carly introduces her two children, Sally and Ben Taylor, for the first time (although they technically did guest star on her previous 2 LP's). Of course, now it's 2014, so both of them have made quite a name for themselves during all that time. :)

This is an essential record that is NOT to be missed by Carly/music fans. So it's time for you to re-discover "Coming Around Again" and to understand why it was so popular and hits-laden in the first place. :)
seasense ancla cadena 5/16-inch x 6-Feet Acero Inoxidable
seasense ancla cadena 5/16-inch x 6-Feet Acero Inoxidable
I recently purchased, and promptly returned, this stainless steel anchor chain. Although the chain appears to be well made, my return was based on the fact that the grade of stainless steel was not mentioned in the product description, nor was it indicated on the package. Stainless steel for marine use is generally 316 and contains molybdenum to increase corrosion resistance. Although the chain is advertised as stainless, the package indicates that it contains lead which is not commonly added to stainless steel. Although the allure of stainless steel at this price point is tempting, I have concluded that the lower price point is a reflection of an undefined or inferior grade of stainless steel for use in aquatic or marine environments.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Talk The Ultimate Sleep-Promoting Duo, 75 ml
I used to have awful problems getting off to sleep and after a hour of tossing and turning I used to get so cross with myself nod very anxious which only made the problem worse then I read about this product and thought I would give it a try. When I use this I seem to be able to get to sleep quite quickly and on the odd occasion that I take longer it seems to have a very calming effect and I am no longer anxious. I love this product so much I have reordered and it will be an ongoing thing in our household. The aroma of the essential oils is not overpowering and it does not leave any stains or residue on your pillows. 5stars from me.

Pantaya
The Last Kids on Earth Collection 4 Books Set By Max Brallier Netflix Original
The Last Kids on Earth Collection 4 Books Set By Max Brallier Netflix Original
If you like the programme you’ll like the books. They’re poorly written, grammar is awful and it’s very American re slang and language so some explaining is needed on that front. It hasn’t held my boys’ attention though; in fact we didn’t even finish the first one and the boys preferred to read Roald Dahl. My boys are 7 and 10 so maybe they’re better for a slightly older child. They liked the idea of it more than the reality when we started reading it. The 10 year old likes it more than the 7 year old because he can read it on his own but even with him, he’s moved onto a Michael Morpurgo and hasn’t finished this one.
Vivo X50 Pro (Alpha Grey, 8GB RAM, 256 GB ROM) + Vivo TWS NEO Earphones (Moonlight White)
Vivo X50 Pro (Alpha Grey, 8GB RAM, 256 GB ROM) + Vivo TWS NEO Earphones (Moonlight White)
As a Pro photographer and technologist, here are my opinions on this phone.
For me any purchase should have definite aims to acquire any item.

For me, as far as a mobile is concerned, important aspects are:
1. Communication quality as a phone.
2. The audio and video quality as a playback system.
3. Now a day's, the quality of camera plays an important role.
4. Gaming is important, for a particular segment of buyers.
5. Look, feel and overall quality, including water proof requirements.
6. Reliability & Service facility.

My conclusions for Vivo 50X Pro, my views are:
1. Communications:
5G support - Yes, available - although we will not be able to use this in the near future.
Signal picking up capabilities are quite good.
Overall communication skills are appreciative
2. Playback:
The screen is very good(Resolution & Colour). Kindly do not bother about the refreshing rate of 90,120,etc.
3. Camera:
Considering the technology and cost, Vs. Camera quality, you do not have any better option and this is THE BEST, as of today.
The GIMBAL along with the hardware + software is the best in the market; equivalent to cameras close to or above Rs. 1 lakh.
if you are looking for a camera mobile then you can surely buy this without any doubt.
4. Gaming:
I am not a gamer, hence no deep comments-however I feel that there are many alternatives for game is even at a lower cost.
5. Look & Feel:
Looks decent - nothing to praise.
Not water resistant, if it is important to you
3.5 mm audio jack is missing but available as an adapter
Charging and many other aspects - for as an average user you can take it as at par with any mobile at this price range.
There is no point in throwing processor numbers 765 & 875, etc. for a normal user.
Note: As a technologist, I assure you that: See... there are many differences in many ways - but for an average user, these have very minimal value in our general use. each Phone has some things Extra advantage, & surely there will be some disadvantage - nothing will be perfect.
Note: I have evaluated many of the Photo & Phone comparisons published online - my opinion is that,if you keep watching more, you will get more confused. Truth is that, if I take 2 shots, in the same settings in the same camera, it will be different - kindly examine the green chilly shot, taken in consecutively.
Is my review useful to you? Your feedback can help me to refine this - Thanks (Shall update, shortly)
Cuisinart MSC-600 3-In-1 Cook Central 6-Quart Multi-Cooker: Slow Cooker, Brown/Saute, Steamer
Cuisinart MSC-600 3-In-1 Cook Central 6-Quart Multi-Cooker: Slow Cooker, Brown/Saute, Steamer
Do you want the good news or the bad news first?

Let's get the bad news out of the way. Like many others have posted about this and the similar MSC-400, despite how much tender loving care you give to the nonstick pot insert, it looks like it WILL bubble and flake over time. We babied ours, never using anything but soft silicon tools with it, and hand washing it with nonabrasive sponges, and cooked with it probably no more than 15 times since we purchased it 7 months ago. Yet the dreaded bubbling has shown up in at least three places, and one chunk of nonstick surface has flaked off. Really unacceptable quality control at Cuisinart (or whatever Chinese OEM makes their pots). In case anyone at the company is reading this: If you want to solve this issue once and for all, and build nothing but good will among your customers, strongly consider licensing the nonstick material Scanpan uses on their products -- the stuff seems to be both effective and indestructible -- put it on your cooker pots, and replace any that have died horribly premature deaths from the weak, fragile coating you're using today (in fact, sue the hell out of whomever manufactures the junk for you if it is not up to spec). Three stars off for such poor quality.

The good news is that -- other than the above -- this slow cooker is the finest out of several we've had, but in terms of design as well as practicality. That it can brown is an outstanding feature, and essential for many recipes. Better yet, it does it well, allowing different browning-range temperatures. While it takes a little while to warm up to its maximum of 400F, it's very effective at browning (not searing) meats and vegetables prior to braising. It also seems to have an ideal Low setting, and its programmable and stay-warm functions work excellently. We've used it only for soups, stews, and the like, and not for steaming, but its range of temperatures and well-enough fitting lid look like it would perform well for that.

This would have been a five-star review but for the poor quality of an essential component of this product. While a replacement pot is available (at some cost), we're debating whether to spend about $60 for another 6 months of use, or just call the entire thing a failure and send it to the landfill. Really sad that Cuisinart released something that would have been superlative, but for a serious quality issue. I think there's a way to correct the problem, if they're willing to do so.

Winix AM80 True HEPA Air Purifier with Washable Advanced Odor Control (AOC) Carbon Filter, 360sq ft Room Capacity, Dark Grey, Large
Based on my experience, Winix has poor quality control and poor customer service. I would not purchase these air filters if I knew all the problems they caused.

I purchased four of these air filters last September directly from the Winix website (on sale). When they arrived, three out of the four units were defective. They would power up for a few seconds and then shutdown (see attached video). I contacted Winix and they promised to replace the defective units and pay shipping to return the defective ones. It took about 6 weeks to receive the new air filters. I only received two replacement units and no instructions or shipping labels for returning the failed air filters. I tried contacting Winix several times via phone and email and never heard back. I finally resorted calling my credit card company and making a claim to at least get a refund for the remaining defective unit. (still pending)

The replacement air filters seem to be working fine, but the last remaining original air filter is now having intermittent problems where it shuts off randomly.

The images of the product (on Amazon) show the ingredients, but there is no indication that it is made with PORK GELATIN!
I found out after eating a few, and was horrified as I do not eat pork.
This is deceptive and very dangerous, disrespectful to our religious, our vegans, and many others who don't eat pork.

Basically dried liquorice chopped into tiny squares, except you pay the equivalent of £177 per Kilo. Not only that, the tin is fiddly to open as they only put a notch on one side. They didn't do anything for me at all. They are nothing like the Imps of olden days. Don't clear your throat, do nothing for the voice. Save your money, buy a bag or liquorice. If you really want to, dry it yourself and cut it up!

I LOVE Twizzlers as a rule, sadly, this product did not live up to the taste I know. It tasted like plastic, and so I haven't eaten much of this. I turned around and purchased the regular in the bag type, my normal purchase and there it was, the taste I know and love. So if you love licorice, please don't waste your time with the individually wrapped ones, get the bag type and enjoy the true taste of Twizzlers.
