The Warren Buffett Stock Portfolio: Warren Buffett's Stock Picks: When and Why He Is Investing in Them
The Warren Buffett Stock Portfolio: Warren Buffett's Stock Picks: When and Why He Is Investing in Them
I originally thought I would list some pros and cons regarding this book, but it occurred to me that depending on what you are looking for, aspects of this book may appeal to you--or maybe not so much. Using a get-to-the-point-quickly approach, here are some observations that hopefully will help you decide whether this book is right for you:

1. This book is short and sweet. Some readers (perhaps many) will get through this book in just one sitting. Depending on your available time, reading speed and familiarity with investing, I estimate this book might take, at most, two or three sittings. I don't read that fast, and I finished it in one evening. It is nominally 211 pages long, exclusive of the introduction and index. However, there are enough blank or partially blank pages, pages with tables that list the last 11 years of earnings for XYZ company (one year per line), and pages with very standard information about companies (name, address, phone number, website, year founded, etc.--again, one item per line) that an adjusted number of pages is closer to 150. Moreover, this is a physically small book, so its 150 pages of content would amount to something closer to 110 - 120 more normally-sized pages, at most. If you prefer a short, very easy to read book, this may be right for you.

2. Basically, the authors attempt to explain a simplified version of Warren Buffett's investing style, which they finish by page 46, and then they use the rest of the book to illustrate how Mr. Buffett's investing approach can be applied to 17 companies that Buffett has picked for Berkshire Hathaway. I think it is fair to say that some readers may find the discussions regarding the 17 companies somewhat repetitive, even though there are obviously some differences in what these companies do. (You don't have to buy this book to find out which companies Mr. Buffett has invested in, since that information is publicly available. The companies are: American Express, Bank of New York Mellon, Coca-Cola, ConocoPhillips, Costco, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft, Moody's, Procter & Gamble, Sanofi, Torchmark, Union Pacific, U.S. Bancorp, Wal-Mart, Washington Post, and Wells Fargo.)

3. The co-authors of this book are Mary Buffett and David Clark. Ms. Buffett was married to one of Warren Buffett's sons for 12 years, and that experience is billed as a source of her unique insight into Warren Buffett's ways. The other co-author, Mr. Clark, has followed Mr. Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway for a long time and is the managing director of an investment partnership. It isn't clear how much each author contributed to the book. There is no indication that Warren Buffett has endorsed this book. There are no indications to the contrary, either. (If I was Ms. Buffett and I had received any quotable encouragement from Warren Buffett, I would have been sure to mention it somewhere in the book.) This is the eighth book written by these two authors, and they all address investing and have "Buffett" somewhere in the title.

4. The approach used by the co-authors can be simplified this way: Find a company with a durable competitive advantage (so that its future results may be somewhat predictable), figure out its average growth rate (regarding earnings per share) over the last 10 years, use this historical growth rate to project earnings forward 10 years, and then use this future earnings figure together with a conservative valuation (e.g., a price/earnings ratio) to estimate the company's future stock price. Then add in dividends and calculate an estimated annual investment return. The authors go so far as to literally guide you, step-by-step, in using a financial calculator to do the essential math.

5. To the extent that a company's future growth resembles its past growth, and to the extent a company's future price/earnings ratio resembles its historical ratios, this method can prove helpful. However, when the economic, business or competitive environments change, things can get tricky. That's when Warren Buffett will do much better than the average investor. His uncanny insight into business is not easily summarized in any book, short or long, because his insight is derived from many years of personal study and unique experience.

6. So can this book be useful for someone looking for a better understanding of what drives stock returns? Yes indeed. For someone reasonably familiar with Mr. Buffett's approach, however, this book does not plow a lot of new ground. (I expect the authors might differ from me on this point, but I'll stick with this assessment.) I wouldn't hesitate to give this book to one of my adult children--or anyone unfamiliar with the general Warren Buffett approach--as a useful primer with a number of specific examples.

Visionaries: Top 10 Billionaire's Greatest Secrets to Success. (Steve Jobs,Richard Branson,Jeff Bezo,The Walton Family,Mark Zuckerberg,Bill Gates,Elon Musk,Warren Buffet,Michael Bloomberg)
Learning what make these people successful and how they continue to maintain that success left me awed. These 10 billionaires not only climbed to the top of their industries but also became some of the richest people in the world. I feel so inspired on how this book covers about how these people earned the money that they have right now. Some ideas I’ve learned that through determination, grit, and a bit of luck anyone can overcome their circumstances and achieve extraordinary success.
Slaying Goliath: The Passionate Resistance to Privatization and the Fight to Save America's Public Schools
Slaying Goliath: The Passionate Resistance to Privatization and the Fight to Save America's Public Schools
Diane Ravitch’s book is a powerful weapon describing the fight between David, representing the resistors—the advocates of public schools, and the corporate Goliath, the disruptors—advocates of privatized education. I’ve learned a lot from this beautifully written and engaging discussion about the rise and fall of the disruptors and hopeful victory of the resistors. But I missed a satisfactory explanation of the underlying cause of this struggle.

In telling this story Diane Ravitch rightly points out: 1) that the root cause of low performing schools is poverty, and 2) unlike the earlier rich who wanted to reform and improve the public schools, the new wealthy disruptors (Goliaths) don’t trust the public sector which includes “government schools” and they don’t trust local control, so they use philanthropy and the promotion of charter schools as devices to control under the guise of helping and 3) for the disruptors profits are more important than students.

In addition to the above three points Ravitch poses, what I believe the central question of the book on page 140 “Why were the billionaires so eager to open charter schools whose results were not different from those of public schools and for which there was very little demand? Why not put their millions into fighting for better funding for public schools, where the vast majority of students are?” but she never really answers her question. Instead, she left me with inciteful stories of the fight between David and Goliath. I was hoping for an answer that also pointed to the underlying cause of the battle—the economy.

What’s missing in this analysis is the sinister C-word (capitalism) the privatizing, isolating, profit-maximizing engine and creator of vast inequality that sets the stage for the battle between Goliath and David. We need a chapter on the relationship between capitalism and public education. Despite the excellent stories “Slaying Goliath” in uncritically accepting capitalism as the norm will only propose reforms that will eventually fail as did the new deal.

By approaching problems with schooling through an analysis of capitalism resistors will be able to act more effectively in their battle with Goliath, for they will see: 1) where poverty comes from (the class struggle and growing inequality) and 2) how Goliath, in his frenzy for profit and growth considers schooling to be a training ground for compliant workers and consumers 3) why Goliath has grown so powerful and can influence education, the economy, and government through lobbying and control of the media.

Richard Branson: A Biography
Richard Branson: A Biography
This story of Richard Branson is well narrated and interesting to listen to. I enjoyed learning how Richard Branson overcame many difficulties in his life and also learned from his many mistakes to become a well-respected personality known for his business acumen and personal drive on both sides of the Atlantic and throughout the world.

My only suggestion for the author would be to have written an even longer book which might consist of stories of a number of well-known (or even not so well-known) people from whom we might get inspiration and ideas. I loved this audio book although it was very short.

I was given this free audiobook at my own request and have voluntarily left this review.

The Four Sacred Secrets: For Love and Prosperity, a Guide to Living in a Beautiful State
The Four Sacred Secrets: For Love and Prosperity, a Guide to Living in a Beautiful State
This is probably the most powerful and profound set of teachings that I have come in touch with.

I realized that what's challenging in my life are not the problems around me, but rather my inner-suffering. Learning how to dissolve my suffering and experiencing a beautiful state has been a gift of a life time.

But Preethaji & Krishnaji didn't stop there and shared the teaching related to the 'Right Spiritual Action'.

Other self-help books have a one-size fits all type of approach: they tend to give us strategies, specific models and directions, and advice on what to do in a specific situation or when a particular problem arises. But Preethaji & Krishnaji go beyond strategies and share with us how to make decisions from a beautiful state and how that creates lack of inner-conflict and a boost in creativity that we otherwise would not be able to access. A whole new way of looking at problem solving and at making choices! The implications that this can have in our life and businesses are enormous.

We have already bought the book for our teams and will soon have sessions on how to implement these teachings and meditations in our day to day business. Our first step will be starting our work day with the Soul Synch Meditation, collectively focusing on a specific goal. Having everyone starting their day in a beautiful state, and making decisions from a beautiful state will transform our work environment, productivity and results! And make everyone around us more fulfilled and happier individuals and that is priceless.
The Quotable Henry Ford
The Quotable Henry Ford
This is not the Henry Ford we all know and love. In school we were taught that Ford revolutionised the motor car industry. He did. He made cars that the average family could afford to buy. He used a process to make these cars, the assembly line, that we still use today. He told the people you can have a car any color you want as long as its black. He had a reason for choosing black. It was the fastest drying paint and he can get the cars out and ready to go sooner than if he painted them other colors. The man was good. But he was also a man of contradictions. This book by actual giving you a bit of history per chapter then went on to give you Ford's actual quotes concerning that chapter's subject really shows the true man. He wasn't a good business minded person, which is why some of his manufacturing plants went under. He got an idea in his head and stuck with it. The affordable family car was an example of that. It was a good car and great for the economy, but when the world started to change about auto manufacturing, he didn't. His idea to go overseas to stop the war, how well did that work out for him? There is a wealth of information for you to learn about this man. You may even change your opinion of him, but he's also a part of our history. To actually read his words does bring you closer to understanding him. There is so much to learn from this book about him, it is worth reading.
God, Trump, and the 2020 Election: Why He Must Win and What's at Stake for Christians if He Loses
God, Trump, and the 2020 Election: Why He Must Win and What's at Stake for Christians if He Loses
The author divided this book into three parts: Part 1 is 'What's at Stake in 2020''; Part II is 'Understanding Donald Trump' and Part III is ;Understanding the Spiritual Dimension'. The third part is the one that had the most difficult parts for me. The reason I say that is that a couple of the chapters discuss things that I do not believe wholeheartedly. Examples are: Prophecies and signs in the Heavens and is Donald Trump foreshadowed in the Bible?

On the other hand, however, the author has presented a clear picture of the Trump Derangement Syndrome and the Equality Act that failed to pass. He also states the reasons that President Trump must win....and, then in the next chapter he does say that he could lose. I found this a balanced representation of both sides of this equation.

The author suggested reading this with an open mind which I did. The portion on Christianity and Secularism affords the readers to think seriously about where they stand in this realm. And, many pastors are having difficulty speaking what they believe because of their congregation(s). (This area had to do with abortion).

Lots of points to ponder in this book. May not be your cup of tea but the author has presented a concise and thoughtful inside look at the political climate and spiritual warfare. Interesting read for me.

Highly recommended.
Best Of Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong
Best Of Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong
Perhaps this is the collaboration of the two greatest singers in the history of Jazz. Louis is the fundamental jazz singer who changed it all once he put down that coronet and began to scat and sing. Louis's inflections and his rhythm, his ability to do what he could do on a trumpet with his voice started real Jazz singing. People forget but Fats Waller's "Ain't MisBehavin" was introduced by Louis in a Broadway show in the 1920s. When he sang and played the tune he would often get three or four encores, and people who had already seen the show several times would pay full price to come in and see that one song!

Norman Grantz of Verve put together these combination recordings on the fly, whoever was in town, no rehearsals, no real arrangement worth much, a set list drawn together on a piece of paper, the artists hustling to make time between gigs, not usually having their regular accompaniests.

Yet, all the Louis Armstrong collaborations are wonderful. None are as brilliant as Louis and Ella for sheer wit and vocal power, for inventions. They are great in regard to rhythm, perhaps that is why Lester Young called Ella Lady time. Listen to them alternating verses, and also listen to the way that Louis's trumpet playing comments on both their vocals.

While this sampler is good, I recommend their album doing songs from Porgy and Bess to anyone who has ears, whether you can hear or not. If you can't hear, you want the CD on hand for the day they find a cure. You deserve something this good to be the first thing you hear!
Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon
Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon
Thank you Maxine! Through your tireless pursuit of getting the story straight, you have provided an invaluable and thoroughly enjoyable book. Having read this, I truly feel I have gotten to know Dexter and was there to observe his life.

As a musician myself, I appreciate what you have done here. I own almost every bit of recorded works of Long Tall Dexter. Of late, Ive been hunting down the dvds as well.

This book truly completes the amazing journey in the life of this icon. I'll be going back to this book for a long time to re-read many passages again and again. The stories contained within, will resonate with me for a long, long time.

Dexter's relationships with his family, fellow musicians, promoters, record companies – even his love of the New York Mets, help make this book one I could not put down!

What else is there to say? For anyone who is curious, please do not hesitate to buy this book!
Real Bob Dylan
Real Bob Dylan
This covers Dylan's music from his first album (released in 1962) to the late nineteen eighties. There are tracks from all the studio albums and it is roughly chronological.

It is a good representation of Dylan's career up to the album Oh Mercy although he has produced much great work since. There are some obvious omissions such as Blowin' in the Wind and Subteranean Homesick Blues but Dylan has produced so many great songs no Dylan fan will be happy with any compilation and those new Dylan's music can rest assured there are many more great songs to discover.

My main criticism is that there are no sleeve notes and the re is nothing to tell you which album the songs come from so it is a bit confusing. But for those wanting to discover Bob Dylan this is a good choice.

100 Songs
This is a great paperback, very handy to carry around. This makes the lyrics to Bob Dylan's best songs very accessible. I have a large lyrics book but this is a nice accompaniment. I'm glad they put this out after he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Reading the lyrics in this format makes it clear that he deserved this award and his songs stand up well as poetry. I love this book. Thank you Bob Dylan.

Epure Venezia Collection 4 Piece Hurricane Glass Set - Perfect for Drinking Pina Coladas, Cocktails, Full-Bodied Beer, Juice, and Water (Pina Colada (15.5 oz))
I have been looking for hurricane glasses for smoothies and tropical drinks, but most places don’t have them. So when I found these I figured might as well buy them, the price isn’t terrible and the size seems right! When they came in I was so upset because my package looked as though someone had used it as a stepping stool! Thankfully the manufacturer used so much styrofoam to keep the glasses protected that when I opened it all the glasses were intact! I have used these almost every weekend since I purchased them and love the amount of drink you can fit in them and how sturdy they feel!

I don't use Sunless often, but get really pasty legs in the Winter. I like coola's firming lotion more because it feels thicker and like i get better coverage, but I tried the mousse this past Spring and really found it easy to use and gave me great color. Again, I was going from pasty to needing color, so it worked fantastic for me.

I installed this in a Toyota Tacoma so I'd have AC power for running tools etc when away from home. Cheaper and much easier to maintain than a generator. The power leads the unit comes with are uselessly short; only about 18" - since the directions clearly state the unit should not be installed were it will be exposed to dust and water, like under the hood, I put it in the passenger compartment behind the driver seat. Also the leads seem kind of thin gauge wire (I estimate 8AWG) for the potential amperage they would be subjected to. I replaced the power (+ & -) with 6 AWG wire.

Dollar bag but came with inserts and 21 pens instead of 20 from other seller. Pens write smooth and great quality both times. It is going to come down to color. Different sellers have different color. Can't wait to use and give these out. At less then dollar a piece they are great gifts and nice touch for clients. Awesome quality. This set had more polka dots.

Weiman Jewelry Cleaner Liquid – Restores Shine and Brilliance to Gold, Diamond, Platinum Jewelry and Precious Stones – 7 Ounce
Weiman jewelry cleaner-
Works amazing on cleaning diamonds, I havnt seen my diamond this shiny in months. The diamond looks exactly the same as when I have the jeweler professionally clean it once or twice a year. I didn't notice much of a difference on the white gold band but I have a few tiny scratches on it and it might just need to be brought into the jeweler to be fixed. The liquid product itself I would give 5 stars to but the container it comes in has a some flaws that i personally find annoying. 1st- The baskets holes at the bottom are to big that earring backs and small earrings fall through and you need to get a spoon and fish them out of the slippery solution. 2nd- you need to dip your fingers into the solution to be able to pull the basket out by the top of the stick and when new it pushes the solution over the edges. (Obviously this will be fixed once the solution gets lower). 3rd-the cleaning brush just floats around in the container, that doesn't really bother me but I figured I'd mention it. 4th- the container doesn't have a "lip" on it so it tends to drip over the sides as your using it and pulling the basket out. I love the solution but I don't think I'd buy this again unless they improve the container.

Marvel Captain America Mens Socks Costume Stars And Stripes Crew Sock 1 Pair
Marvel Captain America Mens Socks Costume Stars And Stripes Crew Sock 1 Pair
They're really a good pair of socks, as socks go.
I included a picture. I think it's clear the one on the left is the brand new pair, and the one on the right is the old pair. As you can tell from the picture these held up well with regular use. They got a lot of use, actually because they're really good socks. I've got a number of knee high and midcalf socks and spend a lot of time yanking my socks up during the day if I don't use sock glue (which can be a pain in the ass to use). These socks stay up without help, they're not uncomfortable, the design stayed nice despite it all. Honestly, the first pair were so good when they got a hole in the heel, i went looking for a second pair to replace them.

I could not recommend them more. I'd like to, but it's just not possible.
The Hive (Series 2)
The Hive (Series 2)
this is a great show to wind down to before bedtime and watch a few episodes. We love how each show is only 7 minutes long and keeps my 3 year old twins interest. The storyline is educational, teaches manners and other life lessons in a fun way. Hopefully there will be a season 3 to watch once we get through season 2!
Baywatch (Extended Cut)
Baywatch (Extended Cut)
This movie remake of the popular Baywatch TV series follows the same tired spoofing formula as too many other TV shows remade into films. This Baywatch film includes too many of the same unnecessary "movie mocking" tropes, the same unfunny gags and takes the same tired cynical, sarcastic attitude towards the original TV series material as other movie remakes. Remakes such as The Brady Bunch Movie, Charlie's Angels Full Throttle, The A-Team, Dukes of Hazard, The Addams Family (which is probably the best of this bunch) and now Baywatch (just to name a few). Even the latest Star Trek from J.J. Abrams has injected some of these unnecessarily hammy, tropish, spoofing elements.

Some stupidity in this film includes... the overly stupid rookie, dressing in drag, making corny jokes about lifeguard stereotypes (and of the show itself), hamming up the body aspect, all of which is too much to bare in this farce. I don't see why any of it is necessary. It degrades the film and mocks the original TV show in the process. I don't go into TV-series-into-movie remakes to see the original TV material mocked and derided by corny jokes. I go into it to see an entertaining film that tries to relive and breathe new life into the original material through a new cast. Instead, The Brady Bunch Movie set this silly, mocking tone in stone. For whatever reason, filmmakers have latched full throttle (ahem) onto this oh-so-unnecessary formula as though that's what moviegoers really want when a TV series is made into a film.

We watched the original TV series because while the shows may have included jokes and humor, it did take the characters, story and itself seriously enough to make the show believable and the characters likeable. That's the reason we watched the series. That's the reason we liked it. The TV shows rarely, if ever, mocked themselves, their own characters or the material. Yet, here we are. At every step, the filmmakers of Baywatch take every opportunity to mock such lifeguard elements as tans, bathing suits riding up butt cracks, the nerdy horny guy, crude and awkward shower scenes, wearing too much tanning oil, calling out unnecessary homophobic elements, shaking boobs, showing slow motion characters with everyone else in real-time or whatever other low-brow humor the writers can find to mock the original TV series.

As I said, I don't go into these TV-series-made-into-films to see the original material mocked. I go to see and relive what made the TV series great. Yet, that's nowhere to be found in Baywatch. Oh well, in the annals of time, this film (like so many before it) will ultimately go down as a spoof. To this day, the best film spoofs include Airplane followed closely by GalaxyQuest which are only loosely based on more serious shows before it. If movie makers really want to create successful spoofs, they should go watch these films to understand why they worked and why this Baywatch film doesn't.

This was a Christmas gift for my son in law. He was realy surprised as it was something he wanted for his collection. He's a 40 year old who hasn't grown up in all ways. But if that is what he wants it makes it easier for me. He is very picky and this was right up his alley. That being said, I can't give a rating on fun, educational value or how durable. He will probably leave it in the box and never open it. It arrived in time and was packaged great with no damage to the box which is very important to the collector.

CANDURE? - Ingrown Nail 'Blacks' File. 13cm Fine Point. Podiatry Instruments. CE Marked
I had a painful ingrown toenail. I purchased the lifter as well but couldn't even get under the nail to lift it. I used the file and pushed it along the ingrowing side of the nail. I managed to file some of the nail away by running the file lengthways too and fro Along he nail. It worked! I am now pain free. I highly recommend this file. It comes with a plastic sleeve. To keep it clean between uses. These items MUST be sterilized before and after use.
Avengers Hawkeye Special Big Bad Bow
Avengers Hawkeye Special Big Bad Bow
This is such a fun Nerf toy! My 11 year old daughter and 5 year old daughter love it as much as it's 9 year old owner! :-) It was actually the hit a recent tea party with preschool aged girls. Even a three year old figured it out and played over and over. The "Brave" tie in is the best for the girls. The price on Amazon can't be beat. I have to admit, this toy gets put in time out regularly -- because the kids can't seem to stop playing with it inside the house. The "arrows" are safe and no one's gotten hurt yet. If I had to do it again, I would have bought one for each kid in our house!
In the Mix
In the Mix
I love this movie. I love how race is no issue in the end. Love knows no boundaries and is color blind. It's good to see someone love another by looking at what's inside of them and not at their physical being. Oh, and did mention that I love Usher? Great singer and, surprise, a great actor as well. Why not more?
Yeah / Red Light / Sweet Lies
Yeah / Red Light / Sweet Lies
Let me start by saying that Usher is a marginally talented guy. He can sing, thus he has talent. But he obviously has no education to use the slang he and every other rapper does, but what really shows his lack of IQ is choosing two rappers to collaborate with him. Rap requires absoultely no talent. Go ahead and give me a non helpful vote. It just shows that you read this review and I got my point across. Anyway, rap is nothing but some guy talking really fast, usually using slang terms and mispronouncing words like "here" and "weird" while calling women "b*tches" and "h*es" over programmed beats looped over and over again through a machine, either a turntable or a beat box or whatever. Let's take Ludacris for example. I don't like any rap, but I've watched MTV enough to know that every single one of his songs sounds the same and it's all the same subject matter: objectification of women. While it doesn't take any talent to rap, and it never did, at least artists like Tupac tried to deliver a more positive message to their listeners than asking women to "bend over and touch their toes". Now for 'Lil Jon. Oh, Jonny, where do I start? If this guy and his tendancy to use the word "crunk" isn't a sign that America's mainstream hasn't gone completely to hell, I don't know what is. Remember back when Nirvana came out and they put out passion filled music that the listeners could relate to? Or when Green Day, a marginally talented group (but at least they could play instruments) humored us with songs like "When I Come Around" and the beautiful "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)"? America's mainstream music had a message back then, and if it didn't, it had musicianship. Ask anyone who has played an instrument for a while. My bass teacher, who is black, is disgusted by the state of hip-hop and basically anything MTV plays. The fact is, if you have any musical knowledge you would know it takes no musical talent to play a hip-hop song. All 'Lil Jon did on this track was press buttons on a machine and put them together and looped them time and time again and gave it to Usher to make a quick buck. However, he didn't do this before yelling "yeah" and "OK" a thousand times. But as far as 'Lil Jon goes, I think he'll kill his own career. Even all these MTV-obsessed teen girls and rich upper class living wiggers will realize just how stupid he is. But what I'm trying to say is...rap is not music. Name one rap artist that has been arounf 30 years like Black Sabbath has. The only artist I can think of that's been around a while is Run DMC, but I'm not even sure if their together anymore. Rappers come and go. And as soon as MTV moves on to a new genre to play like it does every few years (you know it's true...here's some example of genres that were only popular for the 3 or 4 years MTV played them: grunge, bubblegum pop, nu-metal, etc. And it's also happened with disco but MTV wasn't the evil empire it is now back then), rap will either die completely or sink into the underground and once again a new mainstream will take over. But for now, I am sick of all the wiggers crusing down the street blaring Twista full blast in the Cadillac their Dad bought for them, acting like they know what a real struggle is and acting like they can relate to the "thug life" of who their listening to. I would also like to point out all the girls that I've noticed in the 8th through Senior year age that will like anything MTV plays. It's like they have no will of their own. If MTV plays it, they like it. If MTV didn't play it, they'd find something to laugh at it about. I mean, there's some girls in my class that squeal like they're about to get stabbed to death when they play "Yeah" at a school dance. It's like they're all clones of each other! But if I didn't know for a fact that MTV will soon make way for a new mainstream, thus changing what America's mainstream is, I'd move to either England and get some Darkness and HIM and Iron Maiden or move to Norway or Finland or another Scandinavian country where there is virtually NO rap but instead talented and kick ass bands like Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Immortal, Kovenant, Dark Tranquility, etc. But anyway, about the song...it sucks.

Miércoles alocado (Wacky Wednesday Spanish Edition) (Beginner Books(R))

Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?
Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?
We were given a version of Mr Brown Can Moo and our son loved it, so I've since bought lots of copies to give out to his friends as first birthday presents. The book is relatively short and goes through about a dozen or so different sounds, in the classic style of Dr Seuss with a bit of zany rhymes. My son was very attentive to it from about 6 months and still likes to listen to us reading it to him, and even laughs when we make certain sounds ("He can sound like a cork...Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop" - and when I make the pop sound I do it with my finger against the side of my mouth). It's colorful and the pictures and text are bright and fun to look at. The only reason I rate it a 4 is that the original version we were given has more sounds (more content/pages) and the one I've ordered here seems to have a couple fewer sounds. I can't think why this is. At any rate, a great book for a bit of fun; I think Dr Seuss is always a winner though and this is a great one for younger babies and children who won't have the patience for something more lengthy like The Cat in the Hat.
One Piece, Vol. 90 (90)
One Piece, Vol. 90 (90)
If volume 89 of One Piece was the best one of new world so far. then volume 90 may be the most important. I think the volume title alone, Sacred Marijoa, says just what amount of world building there's going to be. This may have been the most broad scope lore One Piece has ever done and it's a treat from start to finish. So many familair faces and so many question, I wish we could have gotten even more. What a time to be a One Piece fan.

Oh yeah Wano also starts in this volume, so buckle up this volume is one heck of a ride. I have been MickManga and let's just hope One Piece continues to keep up it's amazing streak. Luckily the next volume will be the first one in a long time that has all the Straw Hats in the same island.
Showdown at Yellow Butte: A Novel
Showdown at Yellow Butte: A Novel
I'm a Louis L'Amour fan. This is probably a very early work or one finished by someone else. I think it's early. It has many of the typical elements of his stories, has some of the smooth flow in places but it's choppy overall and too long. Never thought I'd say that as I'm usually sorry when one of his books ends. It was all right, I finished it. I found it an interesting view into his development as am author (if I'm right that this was an early work). The most glaring difference between this and the L'Amour I'm used to is very little feeling and humanity to the characters. As an example the bad guys made a raid on the town, killed a couple innocent citizens and then the protagonist said something about at least no real trouble had occurred yet. As if the tragedy and hardship of people was not yet very real to him as it was later. This being probably about my hundreth LL book (including rereads), it was interesting to compare this. Do NOT, however, take this as an example of his writing talent.

Classics from Louis L'Amour Boxed Set
This cover isn't very interesting; the portrait format that is becoming so common in L'Amour reprints really makes me not want to look at them. I would strongly encourage L'Amour fans to check out the early editions of Bendigo Schafter and Catlow, western art at its truest form. Recent reprints of these two books exhibit art that proves their literatur content has decreased as well. Save your money for yard sales.

Cross Justice (Alex Cross Book 23)
Cross Justice (Alex Cross Book 23)
I've always loved the Detective Alex Cross character in this series from James Patterson; it's refreshing to read about a crime fighter of impressive credentials, well respected, and being a man of color. Having said that, I will have to say that I'm disappointed in this latest installment from James Patterson. While the premise of the book is a good one (Cross and his family travel back home to his boyhood roots in Starksville, NC in an attempt to assist the family in the defense of a male relative who has been charged criminally with a particularly heinous crime; the sexual assault and murder of a child). One could always count on the Cross novels to remain more of less realistic all the way to the end of each respective book; not so with this one. The ending to this latest chapter in the Cross serious is so outrageous and over-the-top to the point that it actually insults the reader, in my opinion. Now, I'm not saying that I won't continue to read the Cross series of books from Patterson, but if this is what we can expect in future editions of the Cross series, I'll save my money and pick up future Cross novels at used book stores. Your readers deserved far better than this, Mr. Patterson. I sincerely hope that Patterson returns to his old form in future novels, even if that means he may have to co-write the future Cross novels with other writers, as he often does in his other books. Devoted Cross readers deserve better than this.

●●●●●●●●●● MEIN FAZIT ●●●●●●●●●●

Mit »Die Erbin« hat John Grisham einen guten, direkten Nachfolger von »Die Jury« geschaffen.
Prison Break Season 1
Prison Break Season 1
An astonishingly brilliant series. I have to say when I purchased it I didn't expect such a masterpiece, and I was entirely wrong. I am now into part 2 series 2, and there has not been one single episode that has left me even remotely bored, or even drifting. I am GLUED to the sofa with this one. It has everything. First, a perfect mix of characters, from Lincoln - the strong silent type trying to avoid the electric chair, to his brother Scofield, the more articulate and clean cut of the two, and the brains behind the group of escapees. Then there's the psycho mental patient, whose psychosis enables him to memorise in detail Scofield's elaborate tattoo, which ultimately lands him a ticket out, then there's the best villain on telly in the history of TV villians - Teabag - who is beyond amazing (I think he won some awards for this role, and well earned), able to be charming and even likable whilst at the same time being a complete, violent psycho who will do just about anything without hesitation or conscience. Some of the lines he throws out, with that gentlemanly southern accent, both curdle your blood and make you squirm in delight. Then in Season 1 there is Victoria (played by our favourite little angry minx from the Mentalist, Robin Tunney), who plays Lincoln's ex girlfriend turned solicitor as who is very much like her character on the Mentalist. Then there's a mafia dude with connections to a plane, Then there's Scofield's Puerto Rican cell mate, who is a good bloke only doing a 16 month stint but who wants to break out to be a family with his pregnant girlfriend before his cousin steals her away, Then there's the old boy, who apparently has stashed 5 million dollars somewhere in the event he ever gets out, Then there's the kid (Tweener), the prison grass, Then there's the ex soldier who is lying to his wife and daughter who still think he's fighting away in Afghanistan, and the list goes on. The show brilliantly and effortlessly makes the cons the good guys, and most of the correctional officers ("Bellick" does an amazing job as an oafish, slightly stupid CO who still lives with his mum) and police, the feds (including a pill popping, dirty one with a few rather large skeletons in his closet), and even the president, the bad guys. Apart from the warden who is a good man who seems to empathise with the prisoners. As well as doctor Sarah, Scofield's love interest, a former addict who is actively rebelling against her pro establishment governor dad. And I didn't even recognise Holly Valance at first, as her eastern european accent was very convincing in her role as Scofield's recently immigrated girlfriend on the outside, and she did a good job.

The pace of the show is perfect. And the writing is so clever that just when you think you can predict what's going to happen, the game changes. It seems a very realistic portrayal of life in a maximum security prison, and then, once they break out, a bit of a stretch how they manage to evade the law for so long, but it's all simply delicious. Particularly how Scofield always manages to outwit and make a mockery of the FBI and everyone else they come across.

This is going to be one collection I keep, and watch over. And I can't say that about most DVDs I come across.

Thumbs way up on this one. Absolute gem. If you liked Breaking Bad, you will not be disappointed by Prison Break, as it's at least as good as, if not, a bit better - and I never thought I'd say that.

Bleach - Tome 58: The fire (Bleach (58)) (French Edition)
Bleach - Tome 58: The fire (Bleach (58)) (French Edition)
Super shōnen manga, je le conseille aux amateurs du genre;

Fragments of a Past: A Memoir
An excellent piece of work by Eiji Yoshikawa. If you have read "Taiko" or "Musashi" then you trust that this book will certainly not disapoint. It is a bit hard to get since it is no longer in print, but I've ordered it through Amazon used, in excellent condition, I can only recommend if you're interested in Japan, it's culture, and it's history.
Yesterday's Girl
Yesterday's Girl
Yesterday's Girls by Anna Jacobs is a delightful, thought provoking story set during and after World War One. The protagonist is Vi, Violet Gill. She's locked into an impoverished existence serving her mother and a family corner store. A meagre existence in hard times is rendered impossible curtesy of an ignorant, self-obsessed, overbearing, sexist, drunk of a stepfather.

However an opportunity to escape comes when Lady Bingram invites Vi to join the Aides in support of the war. It's the making of Vi. As an Aide she has purpose, self worth and exposure to the respect that comes from opportunity.

With the war over the Aides disband and Vi has nowhere to go but back from where she came. The expectation around her is to re-live her past all over again but this is not something Vi is prepared to consider.

The setting for this story enraptures many wonderful emotions, the brutal impact of the war, the rapid evolution of women's suffrage and the frustration of fighting to preserve a lifestyle that has already disappeared.

This story is both enjoyable and empowering, five stars.
The Birds
The Birds
'The Birds'(1963)-I recently got a 2012'augmented reality' DVD of this film & was disappointed
the disc was the same one issued in 2005(with a different cover). So I've now purchased a 50th anniversary(2013)bluray edition- I'll give details of what's on the different discs:
the DVD -The film(114mins) has clear soundiing English & German (mono) language options with subtitles in those + Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian & Finnish .
The films Technicolor print wasn't 'remastered' ,but for the most part still looks good apart from a brief 'in the house bird attack' later on where the picture has some noticiable damage .Although this section is darker ,so the 'wear & tear' on the print doesn't stand out as it would have in some other scenes in the film.
The real 'problem' with the picture on this disc is that it's still in old TV 4:3 ratio.
The main extra is a very good 'Making of' (80mins) from 1999 (available with subtitles)-This is in 4:3 ratio, but has scenes from the film in 'widescreen'. The documentary has input from the screenwriter(Evan Hunter), many of the production + technical crew, with stars Tippi Hedren,Rod Taylor & Veronica Cartwright + others involved & audio segments with Hitchcock in conversation with Peter Bogdanovich ,& goes into detail about the inspired decision to use a sound collage of amplified & distorted bird sounds rather than a standard music score & much more ,this is very entertaining & it also makes it clear just how complicated a film this was to put together & make 'the fantasy premise' seem all too convincingly believable.
The other extras are: A 'deleted scene', that is a few still images + some pages from the screenplay shown in order.
The 'original ending'- more screenplay pages + storyboard images.
An amusing(10min) Tippi Hedren screen test (with Martin Balsam standing in for Rod Taylor)
A(3min) Universal News promotional from1963 for A.H. + 'The Birds'.
A photo gallery featuring over 80 images -of promotional pics, on set action, advertising materials, posters ,screen cards etc . With a 5min promo 'trailer'( really a four and half-min A.H. comic set piece followed by 30secs of unnerving trailer) to finish.
So a fine film(as you most probably know already) that doesn't seem to age and nearly always appears to have something in there you weren't previously aware of ,in a decent looking print ,a very good documentary + some other worthwhile extras.
The BLURAY DISC-mine is an Italian copy(titled Gli Uccelli) but otherwise is the same as the standard UK one & is easy to navigate. To start with, the image is now in 1.85:1 widescreen(1080p Hi-Def) & has clearly been well restored, with the few scratches & blemishes removed. On my (non HD)TV the colours & depth are good + the 'special effects' still look convincing.
The English audio is in 'DTS-HD master'2 channel with Japanese,French ,Italian ,German & Spanish options & with choice of 20 different subtitles.
The Bluray has all the extras available on the DVD .+ A (14min)'Hitchcocks monster movie' feature ,a 14min audio segment with Hitchcock in conversation with Francois Truffaut(1962), a (9 min) Universal films restoration feature & a 9min Universal films backlot feature with M. Mann, S.Spielberg ,M.Streep & others.
Unfortunately unlike some of Hitchcock's other films on DVD/Bluray there isn't a commentary feature ,but the improved image & reasonable prices this is available for make this a very attractive package on Bluray & if you've only got a DVD player the discs can be bought for bargain prices -making this one for your collection.
So although having 'The Birds' available in its correct ratio available only on region1 DVDs was frustrating, finally getting the film in 'widescreen' with a nicely cleaned up print led to this Bluray, & I think one of my better purchases...
Mr. Slow (Mr. Men and Little Miss)
Mr. Slow (Mr. Men and Little Miss)
Mr. Slow is the story about a slow man. A very slow man. It takes him all day to eat a cake, as he puts it in his mouth a crumb at a time. Being slow has its problems. How will he find a job? He tries to sell lemonade but by the time he has finished making it, it is too cold. He tries to sell scarves, but by the time he is ready he is too warm. What will he do? Read the book and find out! Like many of the other books in this series, this book shows how a person can overcome a very troubling problem.

In search of Bisco
This is the first and only non-fiction work of Erskine Caldwell I’ve ever read, but that should come as no surprise given that this is the only non-fiction work he produced in his lifetime.

Is it worth reading? Absolutely! In it, he achieves the same monstrosity of purpose he achieves with his fictional work. But here, he’s not inventing; he’s just reporting. The only thing I found slightly annoying was the change of narrator chapter to chapter. I suppose he had a purpose; I just don’t know what it was.

In any case, here follow a few examples of Caldwell’s exceptional prose to let you decide if this work of non-fiction is for you.

On p. 90, we find: “(a)ll might be well in Laurel, as it could be elsewhere in Mississippi, if prideful residents of the northside would look at least as far away as the southside of their town even if they do not wish to see beyond the borders of their own state. As it is, and as though it is a way to avoid embarrassment, they fail to acknowledge their responsibility for the poverty and degradation of the Negro families on the southside and ignore the fact that it was the labor of Negroes that enabled them to accumulate wealth and social pretensions.

But customs prevail. And arrogance predominates. Instead of acting upon his responsibility as a citizen in modern America to alleviate and adjust economic and social discrimination imposed upon the Negro for generations, the white supremist is intent upon striving by any means to enforce a perpetuation of racial injustice that originated long ago in the time of slavery. As long as this custom can be maintained, the conscience of the white supremist will be quiet and undisturbed. Enforcement of the custom ranges from intimidation to physical punishment to violent death.”

On p. 105, we find this rather trenchant observation from a local African-American looking desperately to bury his father: “(y)ou don’t know how poor poor can be till you get too poor to be buried in the ground.”

And finally, on p. 167, we find: “(t)he red clay hills are undoubtedly more deeply eroded and gully-washed, the sky-line of jagged pines probably juts higher against the horizon, the stark spires of crumbling brick chimneys have become melancholy monuments to homes burned to ashes, briar thickets and clumps of beggar-lice have been quick to claim possession of abandoned cotton fields, and the gaunt granite gravestones in the cemetery have taken on the somber gray moss of age and oblivion.”

Say what you will about Caldwell’s social criticism. When the man wants to wax lyrical in his prose, he has only to remove one cap and replace it with another. And that—to me, at least—is the best kind of writer!

The James Bond Collection
The James Bond Collection
This collection of three of the best known adventures of 007, is a well read collection, but many (especially women) might find them a bit "politically incorrect" (i.e., for the treatment of women and so on [but hey, it was the "swinging '60's", so you have to put this in context, historically speaking]). I'm not sure if Ian Fleming wrote that famous line in Goldfinger, which is perhaps why it's omitted in this adaption, in the exchange between Bond and him, "Do you expect me to talk, Goldfinger?"
"No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!". (Perhaps, I need to check the text-as I have a print equivalent to both audio sets, or another reader could verify this.) In any case, these are some rousing adventures. Get both volumes, and if you can find them, their print equivalents. I look forward to listening to set two soon.
From a View to Kill (Travelman Adventure)
From a View to Kill (Travelman Adventure)
The short story From a View to a Kill is a solid and entertaining read. If you like James Bond (and who doesn't?), the story is worth buying just to add to your collection. However, the format of the "book" is nontraditional to say the least. It is printed on a "roadmap" of sorts - you have to fold it out like any state roadmap - rather than in a normal book style. So, while it's easily transportable and rather cheap, it's not something that you can put on your bookshelf, if that's what you're looking for. But if you want a real Ian Fleming James Bond story to read on the go -- I strongly recommend buying From a View to A Kill.

The Voiceless Ones (Dr. Palfrey Book 32)
The Voiceless Ones (Dr. Palfrey Book 32)
An excellent novel by a master mystery author. The only problem is it appears that when the publisher decided to release it in digital format they didn't take the time and trouble to edit it properly. Format and punctuation do not even come close to old-school type-setting. For the price of digital copies I would expect more effort be applied to editing.

Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal. Edición Hufflepuff / Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: Hufflepuff Edition (Spanish Edition)
The Life and Many Deaths of Harry Houdini
The Life and Many Deaths of Harry Houdini
Author Brandon, your research is showing. In this 300 plus page biography of Harry Houdini, Ruth Brandon goes way over board in detailing the life of this world-reknown magician, escape artist, spiritual debunker. In facts it takes 28 pages of notes and a bibliography to cover her bases. The author takes a point of his life and goes on and on about what he does and the psychology behind it. Much of the psychology is repetitious and could be easily covered in a brief chapter instead of going over and over the same material. The author also has a penchant for name dropping, adding name after name of unknown people that add nothing to the story except confusion. Further, she is constantly going out of the chronological story line to make even less sense of this book. What she needed was an editor with a red pencil. Some of it is interesting. Such as debunking the fantasy that has surrounded his death, his association with his mother and wife, the amount of money he was able to earn, -- even from his disastorous cinematic efforts, and sparse detail on how he worked his magic. But, the bottom line is Author Brandon went way overboard in describing the life of Housini.
Garrow's Law: Series One [DVD]
Garrow's Law: Series One [DVD]
This Series is an exemplary drama and one which is a must see by all.I must commend the BBC for having the courage to place a most worthy gentleman of note in this Historical manner. This is a time -an era when the people of Europe wish to see an overdue change in their slave like existance. In this period of Revolution- French and our Colonies in America, little is shown as regards the Common Man in the United Kingdom at this most Pre- emptive time and era. Certainly we know of Wellington, the Peninsular Wars and the French Revolution. This series shows just how backward the legal system was in the United Kingdom in fact just how Barbaric our system and our 'Betters' were. Truly until William Garrow fought for the rights of man in the courts and proved that some might just be innocent and not all guilty of the crimes charged against them. How many of you know that a 12 year old could be hung for the theft of bread or similar. The slavery aspects are todays popular Flag however the common man in this his own country of Great Britain was little more than a slave and that transportation or Hanging for trivial offences were the NORM. This series is not only an education it is one of the most entertaining and well acted dramas I have seen, and most certainly will prick your emotions. Garrow fought a hard lonely battle taking public abuse orchestrated by the High Powers wishing for no change, and saw Garrow as a threat -how dare he give the common folk ideas above their station - suggesting they are innocent in court- as though it should matter that one innocent here or there is hanged. ' My the very thought that these people should be defended in court -is nothing short of Treason! -That is why this Drama should be seen - and more made of Garrow. The BBC deserves praise for this TV Series and encouraged to make more of them. A True Classic!
Harry Potter- Gryffindor Shield T-Shirt Size M,red
Harry Potter- Gryffindor Shield T-Shirt Size M,red
Shirt design was fine but had faint white smudges on the shoulder that did not wash out. Very tight and short in sleeves. My husband refers to his true size as “Smedium” (between small and medium) but I ordered this in a medium and it was way too small. He wore it once for a Harry Potter festival and now it’s our 9yo’s favorite night shirt.
Magic: The Gathering: Legends: A Visual History
Magic: The Gathering: Legends: A Visual History
Jay Annelli's Legends: A Visual History is a great concept done dirty through terrible physical execution.

The book, ostensibly a "visual" history of Magic: the Gathering's expansive cast of characters, is tiny. At just a hair over 5.5" by 7", even opened, it is smaller than standard American letter paper, and indeed even smaller than most non-art books I have on my shelves. The presentation of otherwise beautiful art is unfortunately available at a higher resolution on the internet, and in previous artbooks where one can often find similar images at much larger sizes.

While Annelli's character write-ups are nice additions to provide background and context for the images, they are unfortunately not detailed or original enough to merit having this around even as *merely* a lore resource -- it's clear that the book intended to lean heavily into the *visual* side of its history. As frustrating, perhaps are the omissions. While the inclusion of planeswalkers might have made for an unwieldly volume, the absence of Karn from along his peers on the Weatherlight was something I noticed.

Not only does the book lean on the *visual,* but it also leans on the *recent.* Entire segments of the history of Magic Story are simply unrepresented here - most having to do with Magic story prior to Mirrodin. In any book like this, one has to make choices, but the inclusion of Urza and Yawgmoth (both having had cards printed within the last few years) without an entry for Urza's brother Mishra, for example, is an odd choice.

In other ways, the history isn't as recent as it might have been: this book might have been made a better lore resource, perhaps, if Wizards had commissioned or permitted Annelli to address the many new characters receiving cards in Core 2021, or in 2020's "Commander Legends," many of whom are new versions of old favorites -- characters like Jolrael, Radiant, Baron Sengir, and so on -- but who lack the story support or novelization we might have gotten years ago.

If Wizards had been willing to publish this as a larger-scale art book, like its guides to Innistrad, Ravnica, and so on, this book would have been a wonderful addition to any Magic-lover's library. As it is, I would imagine it is only a must-have for completionist collectors of Magic-related media.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Desk Calendar 2003 (Also 2014 and 2025)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Desk Calendar 2003 (Also 2014 and 2025)
Ooooooooo-kay, I've never reviewed a calendar before, so let's see how this goes.
The twelve months portray scenes that are in near chronological order of the movie and starts from Harry and Ron's trip in the flying car. The photos are from key points in the movie, such as the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin Quidditch match, with Harry and Draco facing each other like a Rocky poster. With the exception of June, Harry is in each month. June is Fawkes's honorary month. Key text is included, describing the photo or theme.
There is an object in the foreground, off to the side of each month in keeping with the theme of the picture, be it Hedwig, the Polyjuice Potion, the Sorting Hat, or Ron's cellotaped wand.
By the way, as a bonus treat, inbetween the picture of Fawkes and the June months, there is a special page with eighteen stickers. What stickers? Well, framed portraits of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, the Hogwarts badge, Fawkes's head, Hedwig, the Golden Snitch, three coins (a Galleon, Knut, and Sickle), the respective symbols of each house (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, along with their respective animals), the brown case containing the quaffle and bludgers, a glass of polyjuice potion, something that looks like a starfish inside a jar, presumably Ron and Harry's luggage, sundry chemicals, and the logo for the movie.
For what this year is turning out to be, Harry and company is one surefire antidote for not evoking a much-needed do-over clause for bad years.

Really nice balloons. Though the ones that have confetti in it it’s a hassle to make the confetti stay on the balloon. It comes with absolutely no instructions so we had to figure it out on our own. We rubbed the balloon until some confetti kinda stayed. For one balloon it took about 10 minutes to make the confetti stick. Other than that the quality is good and the rest of the balloons are nice.
PlayMonster Snap Ships Gladius AC-75 Drop Ship
PlayMonster Snap Ships Gladius AC-75 Drop Ship
This building system is amazing. It is very easy to put together a detailed science fiction vehicle. While most sets have instructions for more than one out-of-box model, my favorite activity is creating my own ships. You can build an attractive little mini-ship with 5 pieces in under 10 seconds. Or you can spend hours designing complicated, grandiose battleships.

The designers developed a very elegant cuboid block system reminiscent of Zoids Blox, but with the the connecting peg attached to the primary block type. In its simplest form, you build a basic structure with the blocks and use a dizzying array of connectors and panels to camouflage the blocks and create a well-defined model that doesn't look like a building set.

This was obviously a labor of love for the designers and manufacturer. There is a veritable buffet of parts that touch on classic science fiction vehicle elements:

-Thrusters? Check! at least 5 different types
-High-tech weapons? possibly a couple dozen death-dealing blasters!
-Wings that look cool but are irrelevant in space ? Check!
-Missile launchers? Several varieties of detailed missile launchers and "toyetic" launchers that really shoot!
-Various undefined greeblies that allow you to imagine a high-tech function? Check!
-At least 5 different cockpit types
-Nicely sculpted 1-inch figures to staff your creation.

There are distinctive design styles for each of the 2 warring factions. The "good guys" have very familiar grey and blue clean-lined parts that borrow from Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc. The "bad guys" have a black and magenta insectoid motif with menacing wings and pincers.

The attractively textured packaging lid doubles as a display stand.

While I've not tried the associated smartphone app, it looks pretty sweet from what I've seen.

Cons: These toys are easy for kids to use but the detail is good enough for a grownup. This also means that some pieces are kind of sharp - case in point being the Gladius 9-missile panels. I would use the prying tool to push these into the blocks and warn your kids not to simply "thumb" them in. Worse than stepping on a lego brick.

Some of the pieces are brittle - we've snapped a few missiles in half, and a number of the guns have broken off.

Despite these criticisms, as a geeky adult I am engrossed in this toy. My 7-year-old and I give each other building ideas and fight for pieces so much I've had to buy a bunch of sets to keep up with our demand for pieces! I love trying to push the boundaries on how to combine the parts in novel ways.

Charger Station (MPS Chip MP2615GQ) Compatible with Arlo Pro, Arlo Pro 2, Arlo Go, Arlo Security Light, Fireproof Material Adapter with 1.2M Long Cable
The is a dual battery charger that you plug directly into a wall socket. It is not one of those chargers that you plug into a USB power supply. That is a good thing....I think those chargers you plug into a USB power are stupid. They don't charge fast and you have to get a USB power supply.

This is a super fast charger. It charged a drained battery in a few hours.

Each of the two sockets has an LED that is green if the socket is empty. It turns red when you plug a battery in and turns green when the battery is fully charged. Works great.

I did have one small issue with this. Sometimes the battery is hard to pull out of the socket. I don't know what causes and it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe I am not putting the battery straight into the socket?

Nouvelle Legende Faux Fur Sheepskin Premium Rug Quattro (43 in. X 73 in.) Tan
This was a great purchase! I have this in the bedroom in front of the dog beds at night and on top of the dog trundle bed during the day for decoration. The pets love it and I like the way it feels underfoot. I have been more than pleased with the quality of this rug/throw. I wash it every week and it still looks new, hasn't shed or matted down, and does not collect dirt in the fur like others that I've owned and had to toss. I wash it on cold, hang to dry, and when fully dry I fluff a few minutes in the dryer on low. Looks like new again. I would definitely buy more and am thinking about getting the ivory one for my bathroom.

This smells the same as my favourite brand at a similar price. It does not smell like it has been artificially scented and I have used it in place of my favourite brand for a night and slept to my usual time. I swear by this products, I do not think they are a placebo because I have often woken up early and realised "I forgot to spray that stuff". This has a smooth lavender combo kind of scent with no pungency. I think my brain or body is soothed by it the same as it's excited by the smell of pizza or cakes being cooked, seems logical.
Cello H2O Unbreakable  Bottle , 1 Litre, Set of 3, Black
Cello H2O Unbreakable  Bottle , 1 Litre, Set of 3, Black
I bought this bottle as I don't like the cheap PET bottles to be on my refrigerator. The quality of the bottle in comparison with the regular bottles in the market is very good. The lid is smooth and doesn't need any effort to open or close. The mouth is bigger than the other bottles, which is easier to pour or to consume directly. Some may find it difficult, but I found it to be just fine.

I did drop the lid couple of times and it didn't crack. however, I don't think the filled bottle would survive a fall. If you want it to be flexible, then probably you would need to settle with the cheaper ones

If you are looking for an aqua color bottle, then they aren't as it appears on the picture. They are more of a darker shade of blue.
Responsive Web Design with HTML5 and CSS3
Responsive Web Design with HTML5 and CSS3
I've been debating whether to buy this book for some months, due to trying to find the information myself on the web and the book reviews. I can say that I'm glad that I have bought this book because it gives you all the information you need for creating a responsive website.

The problem is that when searching on the web is that people have different ways and recommendations of creating a responsive website. So you start to follow one technique and then they don't cover all the areas or have too many conflicting ideas with other techniques. This is a problem when trying to search on the web! This book does contain everything you need to know from start to finish. Yes, the images are in black and white but that does not matter and some of the code is spread over a couple of pages. But this does not matter at all, the code is just an example. It's very easy to get the fundamentals and start straight away.

I would say that I am an advanced user of HTML and CSS so I did skim read the parts I already know, but did learn a lot from the book. I also use HTML5 boiler plate to start with with makes it even easier.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that needs the answers to responsive design, HTML5 and CSS3.

Excellent job!

Double Din Android 9.1 Car Radio 7'' TFT Touch Screen GPS Navigation 1G+16G Indash Car Stereo Support Bluetooth FM WiFi Steering Wheel Control Dual USB + 12 LEDs Rear View Camera
So right off the bat I decided to check the system to see what it really was running. Using CPU-Z, the app reported Android 8.1 Go. This is a low spec version of Android. That being said, that seems to be the only thing misadvertised ok this listing. The fact is that it is running Android which is what I was personally after.

Other than that, the hookup instructions are not clear at all. They are definitely translated but the colors for the main harness cables seem to match up perfectly with most aftermarket wire harnesses so it was just a case of matching colors together and it was setup. I have not tried music or navigation on this device yet but I have no reason to doubt that they work well enough.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the internal wifi seems to be capped to 39 mbps(megabits per second). It is only single band wifi and at those speeds downloads are very slow. Web pages do load fine and quickly enough though.

The device does have its shortcomings but I overall like it and for the price I paid for it and all of the stuff that came with it to maximize its capabilities, I'm more than satisfied. Although next time I'll buy a stronger one.
NETGEAR Nighthawk AC2600 Smart WiFi Router (R7450)
NETGEAR Nighthawk AC2600 Smart WiFi Router (R7450)
Just installed this router tonight to replace another Netgear (AC1200) that we've had for over 2 years. The AC1200 was fine, but didn't push the signal quite as far as we needed into back bedrooms. After installing this, even the 5GHz was reaching the master bdrm., and as they say, "Happy wife happy life". The speeds of this router wirelessly were 138Mbps down and 25Mbps up (on the 5GHz channel). On the 2.4GHz I hit 57Mbps down and about 7Mbps up, still acceptable for surfing the web on phones and tablets.

I have not seen any hiccups with the router tonight after installing it and logging 3 phones, two tablets, two laptops, 2 Echo Dots, 2 Google Dots (?), one ROKU, one security camera, and one printer. Still have another camera, another tablet, two more ROKU's, and daughters laptop to connect tomorrow. But I think overall this is going to do great.

I may (or may not) hook an external hard drive up to it as a shared network drive for the house. It has a 3.0 USB port for it. Also have a few wired connections to it (Xbox One S, and a gaming tower). Too much, LOL.

Setup is pretty easy, just set it up, plug it into your modem, power it up, and then using the app on your smartphone rename your SSID (Network name) and change the password (if you want). If you have any connection issues, try unplugging your modem after you get everything hooked up. Wait 31 seconds then plug it back in. Sometimes you have to do that to get your modem to recognize the new router.

Okay, hope this helps. It's a good router, with good range and speed. Pick one up if you're having coverage issues or if your current router is more than 5 years old (time to replace). Happy trails...

GOTW3 4G LTE PREPAID Home Internet Router with AT&T Sim Card! Great for Rural!
GOTW3 4G LTE PREPAID Home Internet Router with AT&T Sim Card! Great for Rural!
I live in rural Northwest Florida which I wouldn’t exactly call wilderness but you’d think so with the problems we have with internet and phone. To be fair to GOTW3/REVGEN NETWORKS, they have been piggybacking off of T-Mobile who now uses the excuse that they are helping schools and making hotspots, so they throttled down and left GOTW3/REVGEN NETWORKS with essentially no internet speed. Along comes AT&T who essentially brags about their slow speeds in these parts and supposedly charges GOTW3 REVGEN NETWORKS more money to piggyback and well you can guess , our internet went from 79.99 to 109.99 and I still have no internet and it’s no longer unlimited internet. The box was 229.00 and what do I do with that now. I know what I’d like to do with it right now. Customer service is bare to none, they never answer, it’s all automated with a maybe call back. Using COVID has become a way for businesses to have no customer service and charge more money. They did call me back after a few days and hopefully I am home but I work during the day and you need to be online so they can walk you through all the little steps on their website which basically just changes the signal channel and does little. I was told about an update a few days ago that I should have been emailed but I swear I did not get but the person practically accused me of lying; so she emailed the steps for getting the AT&T update which did not work. It is the weekend now, Sunday Morning and I have no Internet and no customer service, I emailed and called yesterday several times and Friday tried also but no one called back. It’s almost time for another auto withdrawal from my bank account and I have had no reception. I will update if this gets better or worse but not sure how worse. Did I mention I have a small business and depend on internet service for sending out invoices and job estimates. Thanks for listening. 🙂
African Licorice Sticks - 1 Lb - 100% Pure Licorice Sticks by HalalEveryDay
African Licorice Sticks - 1 Lb - 100% Pure Licorice Sticks by HalalEveryDay
This product is Exactly what it is supposed to be. No reason for any unfavorable reviews. I grew up using these and if you did too, then you have found what you are looking for. These are the raw roots. There are always favorites in a batch. The perfect texture, size and shape. However these are not manufactured, they are STICKS. They wont all be the same size or have equal aesthetics. What they will do is provide something healthy to stick in your mouth. The bark is extra texture, a little extra bitter, and can come off in big enough pieces to make your throat scratchy. PRO TIP: whittle it off of the part that will be in or near your mouth. Keep it on the rest because it provides some protection from the environment and whatever might be on your hands. The twigs have a nice meaty center in the middle of the fibers that yields sweetness, tenderness, and all those fabulous therapeutic juices. Those anti microbial juices do two wonderful things that really stand out to me. They keep you teeth plaque free and breath fresh for the entire day, and they keep your chew stick from getting weird in between chews. Usually after a couple chews, if I haven't actually nibbled down the fibers, I take scissors to trim flat down and start over. For larger sticks, when you are whittling down the bark, whittle down a tip as well, that way you can customize your chewing bristles. Oh and BTW, for everybody commenting on how they need to soak them, or they are hard and stale..... duh! it is a dried twig. suck on it till it gets soft, chew till you form bristles, then brush your teeth with it and enjoy being a primate with something natural and healthy, something that is anthropologically appropriate to have hanging out of your mouth. You will be surprised how quickly you inherit the primal enjoyment.... particularly if you have or are trying to quit smoking.

Well, I certainly learned my lesson!! I was a bit tight on funds and the reviews were so good that I thought I'd stray from the FINNSKA I'd spent decades to find and then decades enjoying. BIG mistake, sorry guys.
- No significant flavor AT ALL (I know the difference between the overpowering artificial flavor versus the more subtle and deep richness of real black licorace; that was not the problem...to be generous, there was but a WISP of flavor.)
- Disgraceful texture - a plastic-like dry sort of rubberyness that actually shocked me.
- Density was NOT bad, but that's where ANY positive began and ended for me...

Needless to say I IMMEDIATELY bit the bullet (and this time, I don't mean this licorace) and ordered my FINNSKA 8.8 LB BAG which arrived today, instantly dipped in and....aaaaah, black licorace HEAVEN!

(Not pandering, honest, but THANK HEAVENS FOR AMAZON!! LOL)

I did have to wait a bit to get this pipe but it was well worth it. The pipe and stand are a real beauty. I will buy again from this company.Such a great pipe to add to my collection.
