Reconciliation Day (Bibliomysteries Book 30)
Reconciliation Day (Bibliomysteries Book 30)
Carter is a Bram Stoker collector/fanatic of questionable ethics. His purpose is to acquire the mythical first draft of Dracula with its additional texts that describe the Count's library and includes an "alternate ending." His quest takes him to Romania where he thinks the "Blue volume" is hidden. When he gets there all he has to do is steal it. But this is Romania, a place where gypsies issue curses and the legend of Vlad the Impaler is very alive.

I like the concept of the Bibliomystery series since I am something of a bibliophile. I take it that the purpose of the series is to take a text and write a story around it; in this case, the text is Dracula by Bram Stoker.

We are treated to short chapters from the alternative, mythical version of Stoker's novel, which were pretty interesting. There was also a lot of biographical about Stoker and bibliographical information about Dracula. Unfortunately, it seems that all of this detail is hogswallop. Stoker was not impoverished; although he died in poverty because of his ill health, he actually had a good living running a playhouse for Henry Irving, who the most famous actor of his time, which involved him in traveling around the world, as part of which he met American presidents and was friends with Arthur Conan Doyle and James Whistler. Stoker didn't write Dracula in a competition with a swindler; he worked on Dracula for seven years. It is true that the original manuscript of Dracula - then entitled "The Undead" - was found in 1980, but it was found in Pennsylvania. The typescript was purchased by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, not returned to Romania.

Messing with factual details like that is unfortunate.

Nonetheless, the story seemed to be moving along, until it neared its conclusion. What happened at the end? Was it a hallucination or something else, I couldn't tell. All in all, I found the ending to be a disappointment.

Your mileage may differ.

I cannot believe I wasted almost 3 minutes scan over this. This doesn't tell you anything beside buying ETF and promo his other books.

There is nothing wrong with buying ETF, but that is not how you out perform the market. Buying ETF is speculation. If you want to invest, you have to do with cashflow, AKA buying someone that give you cash, like dividend. Yes, 3 to 5% dividend seen little, but if you have it compound and also a gain of 3 to 5% of capital gain over the long run will out perform speculation in general. Unless you happened to bought Google and Apple from a decade ago
The Power of Mandate: How Visionary Leaders Keep Their Organization Focused on What Matters Most
The Power of Mandate: How Visionary Leaders Keep Their Organization Focused on What Matters Most
I work for a 60 year old company that had the original entrepreneur running it for the first 55 years. When one of his ideas didn't work, he quickly moved onto the next idea. As long as something worked, it wasn't negotiable. After he sold the business, the new owners brought in a group of leaders who were all over the place. Everyone's ideas, even conflicting ones, were implemented all at the same time. And the worst part was, none of them new anything about the business or tried to learn about it. It was all about driving sales at any cost. To employees and customers! They were dismissed by the board in a blaze of glory as the masses cheered. We now have one person in charge again, who knows the business, is committed to keeping employees happy so we can keep our customers satisfied. We now have new non-negotiable guidelines that have been clearly communicated. And they actually are ones that make sense. Sure, with thousands of employees, many will not be pleased with the changes because they are a disagreeable type with no vision of their own future. This book hits a nerve with my career experience. However, it goes on and on with tired examples of exceptionally famous people and their rehashed life stories. If you are just starting out and looking for mentors to give you a vision, mould your career strategy, give you hope that you will one day become a visionary leader, that you, too can become a billionaire, then you should read this book for inspiration. If you are currently in a leadership position, and wondering what you are doing wrong, yeah, it's too late to get ideas from this book. If you experiment with a new management style now with the same staff, you'll get mocked out of a job. And for heaven's sake, if you don't know what you are doing, think you can fool people with bolsterous retoric, see panic and disbelief in the eyes of everyone you talk to, and know in your heart and mind that you are in over your head, just resign, and run for president of the United States.

This book is not written with reader friendly. An unwanted urgency sentence style was spreaded all over the book. Also looks like direct translation of an English book. But you need not neglect this. Just try it..
The Complete Guide to Hunting, Butchering, and Cooking Wild Game: Volume 2: Small Game and Fowl
The Complete Guide to Hunting, Butchering, and Cooking Wild Game: Volume 2: Small Game and Fowl
I am a fan of Rinella's from watching "Meateater" and listening to his "Meateater" podcast. I bought his first book "Meateater: Adventures in the Life of an American Hunter" and was hooked.

I bought this book via Kindle but after a once-through reading decided to buy the paperback version of it so my other family members could read and reference it too. Once I got the book in hand I re-read it and I'm glad I did. For whatever reason I picked up a lot more from the paperback than I ever did from the Kindle version. I guess it probably has something to do with the reference-book feel this book has and the ability to skip around and gather in the whole picture of what this book offers up. The Kindle format works really well for a novel or a mono-formatted book like a historical non-fiction.......this book is neither.

One thing I want to point out about Rinella..........his style of writing (and talking) and his methods, tools and attitudes towards the animals and pursuit really make sense to me. As a transplanted Mid-westerner now living and hunting in the West myself I can really identify where he's coming from on having to evolve from Midwestern traditions and methods about hunting to the Western US approach to the critters out here in the West. Until I'd read Rinella I hadn't stumbled across anyone that eloquently and accurately describes this transition.
Steve Jobs [French Version]

Qu'apprend-on vraiment ?

Virgin by Design
Virgin by Design
At the back of this thick book there is a fold-out that historically lists, up to 2020, all the Virgin Group brands for the last fifty years and it's an intriguing collection from household names like Virgin Active, Atlantic, Records and Trains to also rans like Virgin Brides, Clothing and Cola. The ten chapters expand on the branding of the Virgin name around the world, though principally in America and Europe but as chapter eight reveals the name is shared with lots of other companies. They lease the name and that includes the branding expertise that the Group provides.

The author attributes the success (and very few failures) to Richard Branson and his creative executives thinking outside the box and giving customers something new and imaginative whether it's the passenger Cluhouse at Heathrow, beds on planes or the decor of the Virgin hotel in Chicago all aimed aimed at a corporate or wealthy clientele. The youth market is captured with, for example, Virgin radio, gyms, mobiles and finance. Part of the branding involves generous helpings of PR for the launch of any new venture, something that Branson excels at like driving a tank down Fifth Avenue in 1994 for the launch of Virgin Cola.

The book has three hundred illustrations, mostly photos including a rare one of Branson minus his beard, he shaved it off and dressed up in a wedding dress for the launch of Virgin Brides. The main chapter text is printed on smaller four page sections and stuck in rather than bound into the book, there are four fold-outs and (thinking outside the box) two ribbon page markers.

I found this a worthwhile look at one of world's great brands and the creative thinking behind some remarkably diverse products.
Elon Musk Young Readers Edition
Elon Musk Young Readers Edition
Do not get dismayed by the title "Young Readers' Edition". I did that at first and bought this book for my 12-year-old brother who recently started making friends with books (thanks to Narendra Modi's Exam Warriors). So I bought it for my brother, but I read the first chapter and I found myself hooked on to this book. The conclusion was me and my brother fighting like Spartans on who gets to read this.

Coming on to the book. It starts by telling you the story of a random boy from South Africa and how he ends up building billion-dollar empires. It's inspiring. Musk went through a lot of bullying and troubled time during his school, he read a lot of books and that's how he became what he is. The book perfectly summarises that. The story has been written in a very entertaining way. I actually like Ashlee's this book more than the original "Elon Musk: How the Billionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla is Shaping Our Future", specifically the way in which this book is written is appreciable.

Buy it if you seek inspiration from this guy. Lord Elon Musk of Mars will inspire you, your kids, your siblings, everyone who reads this. It can be a life-changer for some readers. You'll be amazed by his determination and ambition.
Reinventing the Wheel: A Story of Genius, Innovation, and Grand Ambition
Reinventing the Wheel: A Story of Genius, Innovation, and Grand Ambition
After getting a Ninebot S awhile ago, I found myself very interested in the genesis of Segway. I also lived through the hype of IT, and certainly confess to being underwhelmed when I looked at the hype versus the end product. This book certainly gave me insights into Dean Kamen, the background of Ginger, and everything that had to drop into place for what we now know as the Segway PT.

But this book works on another level - that of a management book. Throughout Reinventing the Wheel, we see quite a few management missteps, from Kamen's extremely controlling manner to the realization that personnel is policy and how so many disconnects greatly hampered DEKA/Ginger from positioning itself to create and market what is, at the end of the day, a truly innovative and potentially disruptive product. Several times through the book I internally screamed "NO" when I saw a company that made so many missteps that were grounded in a lack of understanding of business strategy. I hate to put it this way, but this book details a business that serves as an example of what NOT to do.

Part of that example is understandable - DEKA made its name by licensing tech, not by manufacturing it. What isn't understandable are the blind spots that Kamen showed...in other words, he didn't know what he didn't know, or more properly he thought he knew what he actually didn't. Sadly, a refusal to listen to experienced people only exacerbated the problem. At the end of the day, I think because of all of this Segway ended up only being a very small fraction of what it could have been.

This book does a very good job in providing the context and background for all of the major decisions throughout design, getting venture capital, and the many plates that need to be kept spinning to bring a device like the PT to market. It doesn't shy away from less-than-flattering portrayals of the principals. Moreover, it's not a short read but certainly an accessible one, with a lot of ideas to chew on at the end.

A good book!
Oprah Winfrey (Just the Facts Biographies)
Oprah Winfrey (Just the Facts Biographies)
"I'm just a voice trying to help people rediscover their best selves." ~ Oprah

Oprah is a fascinating woman and in this "Just the Facts Biography" we learn about all her major achievements and the life choices that made her the amazing woman she is today. I especially enjoyed learning about her childhood and some of the stories are amusing. One sad story is about how her mother took books away from her and didn't let her go to the library. Later Oprah becomes pregnant and has to deal with the death of her first child.

When you think about what Oprah had to overcome it is amazing that she is as successful as she has turned out to be. In this biography you also learn about her rise to power and how she took opportunities that were presented to her so she would be in the right place at the right time. This book also contains the story of how she met her best friend Gayle King and how she had pajama parties at Maya Angelou's home. A lot has happened in Oprah's personal life since 2005 so this book is in need of an update.

Trump: The Biography: From Businessman to 45th President of the United States: Insight and Analysis into the Life of Donald J. Trump
I thought I’d read up on the person that has 45,000 deaths in his tiny, baby hands (as of this writing 4/21/20) and is running our country into the ground. Well, I haven’t learned anything new but I can confirm that he does have family so there’s no reason for him to act like a wild animal. trump has made his money by ripping people off for his entire career. trump is not good at businesses but he is great at dividing a country, racism, passing, the buck, scapegoating, bigotry, collusion, predatory behavior, and lying. You’ll find none of the class and presidential qualities from our past president, in this book about our current orange imposter. Save your money it’s not worth it. I’m sorry we can’t get back the last four years, don’t blame me though. I voted for HRC. But hey, this is all a democratic hoax, right? Right!?!?
West Coast Seattle Boy: Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child [Blu-ray]
West Coast Seattle Boy: Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child [Blu-ray]
About the feature:
This is a documentary of Jimi Hendrix's life "in his own words", there is a narrator speaking as he was Jimi. Gathered from letters from Jimi to his family, interviews and other sources, gives a personal touch to the feature, innovative storytelling, gotta give it that.

About the content:
It isn't great tough, if you are looking for a detailed retrospective narrating every detail on how things came to happen you won't find it here, if you are looking for a concert film and a lot of performances, won't find that here either, it's more like a personal diary overview of jimi hendrix.

About the disc:
Given the source material, Bluray quality isn't great, it's as good as it gets of course, but no HD to be found here. What I think it's a shame, and makes me drop a star out of this product, is the lack of extras, it would be great if it contained the full performances of the bits shown in the film, or at least a couple. (No Latin american spanish either)

Note: this is a bonus DVD on the Jimi hendrix anthology box set too, if you want to get that, I wouldn't recommend the box for casual fans, it's just for completist. so you're better off getting this film separately.

Must have for any hendrix fan, that's for sure.

JBL TUNE 205BT - Wireless Earbud Headphones, In ear Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone, up to 6-Hour Battery, works with Android and Apple iOS (Black)
The main reason I purchased these earbuds -- I was looking for something wireless that didn't have the rubber isolating thingies that go on the end of the bud/into your ear hole. I buy these kind of things to use them almost every day for hours at a time, and none of those rubber things have ever fit me just right and I often find myself having problems where they fall off when I don't have the buds in my ears. So I wanted something more like the older earbuds that are just one piece. I think maybe they are a little less comfortable for longer periods of wear but not ever having to worry about losing that stupid rubber thing in the middle of the day and then being only able to use one side of them until I can get home to replace it.

The sound quality of the earbuds is pretty good. JBL does a great job of making speakers that sound great for the price, and what they've got in these buds is no exception. I have a couple of gripes; battery life is pretty poor. I know it states that it's about six hours of audio playback, and I'm sure I'm getting that amount or close to it, but it just feels goofy that these last hours and hours less than comparably priced bluetooth sets offering sound quality that is not all that noticeably different.

The other issue I have is the weird design of the thing itself. The cord that loops around behind your neck is long...like really long. The product page has a picture of a person wearing earbuds that obviously aren't nearly as long. I don't have a measuring tape handy nor do I really care enough to check it out, but compared to other bluetooth earbud sets I would say these are about 10 inches longer. When they're not in my ears and dangling over my shoulders they hang below my sternum, way down my chest. What? Why? There's also a tiny little ineffective rubber clip that you are meant to be able to secure the ends together like a kind of necklace when not in use, but it's pretty useless. Getting the cord clipped into that is challenging enough on its own, and then after a short while it will just fall out anyway. The little control pad also seems unnecessarily large, and in some sort of effort toward symmetry (and I suppose keeping the extra long cables dangling evenly) there is a plastic bit the same size and shape as the control pad on the other end of the cable, and it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm not a design genius but if you're gonna do that at least give it some purpose. How about put a tiny little battery in there to increase the battery life? I had originally marked this as a four star review but now that I'm actually writing about it and looking at the price and wondering how they got a lot of the physical form so wrong I feel very justified in moving it down to three stars.

Overall these are fine headphones. I like them well enough for now, but I won't purchase these ones again.

Would have gave it 5 stars based on how cheap it was to buy if not for 2 things: 1. Main jet was loose in the threads (not a big deal, always good to double check). 2. nut for the doubled sided bolt connecting the carb to the cylinder head was wayyy too big. needed to buy 2 new stainless steel hex socket cap bolts to use instead. just little details like this but not a huge deal.
Key Of Knowledge (Key Trilogy Book 2)
Key Of Knowledge (Key Trilogy Book 2)
In the second book of the 'Key trilogy', it's Dana's turn to find the second key to free the demigoddesses. But she is not alone, not only she has her newest friends Malory (book 1) and Zoe, she also has her brother Flynn (book 1) and his best friends Brad and Jordan.

Unfortunately, she's not in the best terms with the latter one. She and Jordan dated once. He broke her heart and left her. Since he returned in book 1, it was obvious Dana wasn't happy to see him. She's still hurting and angry over what he did. In this book, we get to see more of that pain and anger and it made the first stages of their relationship hard to read because I could feel Dana and Jordan's pain.

But as they slowly progress and become lovers instead of "enemies", I enjoyed their relationship even more so. It was obvious those two still loved each other. I especially loved how there was no BS and they communicated to accept the hurtful past and prepare for a future together.

Other things I enjoyed very much as well were:

*Seeing more of Malory and Flynn (really great news for them!)
*Getting to know more Zoe and Brad (and Brad and Simon). I cannot wait to read their book.
*The climax to the discovery of the key was thrilling and amazing! I did not see coming the development and absolutely loved it! Definitely more interesting than that of the first book.

Something I didn't like were some sexist comments throughout the book. They definitely affected the rating (like they affected the rating from book 1). They didn't lessen my interest on the main plot but they bothered me.

OVERALL:

'Key of Knowledge' is a great follow up. The quest to find the keys gets harder but more interesting. The relationships between the six of them (and between the six of them and Rowena and Pitte) keep developing and I'm loving every moment of it.

I cannot wait to see the end of the quest. The thing I am looking forward the most is seeing the conclusion to finding the keys and freeing the demigodesses. I need to see Rowena and Pitte have their HEA. They deserve it after centuries of being waiting.

Babysoy Comfy Basic Footie Pants Unisex 2 Packs
I love these pants. They do seem to run large in my opinion. My baby is average weight and length for his age and he didn't fit into the 0-3 month size until he was more like 4 months. But they are so soft and it's so handy not to have to bother with socks. They aren't too tight around the mid-section, even after a big bottle :). My one complaint about these is the price. If they were cheaper, I'd buy a lot more.
The Bootlegger (An Isaac Bell Adventure) by Clive Cussler Review Summary
The Bootlegger (An Isaac Bell Adventure) by Clive Cussler Review Summary
As a Clive Cussler fan, I knew I would buy his book, regardless of anybody else's review, so I paid little attention to the presumed inclusion of a review. Placing the actual story title and art work so prominently on the cover, made it look as though this was a Clive Cussler book. This was deliberately misleading although, apparently, completely legal. Just to be sure, if you have not purchased this particular offering, be warned,,, this is NOT Clive Cusslers story, "The Bootlegger". It is a hundred or so pages of Granger's review of Cussler's story, and that is ALL it is.
A Kingdom of Dreams (The Westmoreland Dynasty Saga Book 2)
A Kingdom of Dreams (The Westmoreland Dynasty Saga Book 2)
It wasn’t an amazing read, but it kept me somewhat entertained for a few days. Jennifer is a likable character. She’s stubborn, intelligent and funny. Royce...well Royce is every bad boy you read about: sexy, powerful, etc.

The story definitely had its moments. I think the overall plot was pretty interesting. Jennifer is the ostracized daughter of a laird sent to live at a convent. She is kidnapped by Royce’s men and used as a hostage (first half of the story), but in a turn of events she is forced to marry Royce to stop the conflict between him and her family (second half of the story). Decent plot. Poorly executed.

I think a problem a lot of erotic novels have is balancing plot and smut. Some erotic stories are so sex-heavy that you’re left with hardly any plot between the 20 page long sex scenes. This is the opposite: stretches of somewhat dull plot only to be given mediocre sex scenes.

(Warning: if you’re looking for hot and heavy sex this isn’t the book for you. More of a lot of sexual tension with little pay off)

The sexual tension between Royce and Jennifer was honestly the best part of this book. I found myself skipping pages until they were interacting with each other. Watching them fight but crave each other was great, but Judith McNaught tried to use this plot device for the entire book. It was a never ending series of: “you’ve made me mad so I’m not going to have sex with you” followed by “ok i forgive you let’s have a short, PG-13 moment at the end of the chapter.” Young adult romances have better build up then this and they don’t have the crutch of using sex to establish a bond.

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes and fight my way through the book.

I did finish it though. And there were scenes i enjoyed especially the tournament at the end, but this book was lackluster. The sex wasn’t good enough to save it and the plot wasn’t good enough to get away with no explicit sex scenes.

I don’t really recommend this book, but maybe if you’re trying to take a baby step into the world of erotic novels this could be a gateway.

LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall 75954 Building Kit and Magic Castle Toy, Fantasy Creatures, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy and Hagrid (878 Pieces)
This set was fun to build, and pretty straight-forward too. The pictures-only manual only led me astray once (the strangely fiddly hinges for the top of the tower, that didn't seem to line up at first...), and it's strangely addictive, as some parts were mystifying while being put together, and only made sense once you actually put them into the rest of the model.

I did have a couple of minor niggles: I was missing a piece! A single, one-piece block, that appeared in the instructions, but was absent from the set. It was for the base of one of the buttresses on the outside of the hall, and while I ended up with a couple of pieces among the extras I could have used, I didn't know at the time if they were needed for something else! There was another case of one of the pieces being a different color than the manual indicated, but that was it, apart from that, it all went together pretty nicely.

The finished model is wonderful, even if not all the bits seem built entirely to the same scale. The inclusion of 10 mini-figures means you can recreate most scenes from the films, even if getting Quirrel, but not Snape seems a bit odd. It's a little disappointing that there's only room for two of the four house banners to be hung up (though both are double-sided, so you can pick which ones you want to display), and it's not easy to reach inside the Hall once it's put together to get figures into it, but littler builders with smaller hands will have no problems.

Overall, a fun set to build, and display. My only real complaint was that I wish it was bigger, and more complete version of the Hogwarts Castle, but I'm not a Lego fanatic, so I could have missed that, or maybe it's coming in the future?
Harry Potter Gryffindor Robe Child Costume, Large, Black
Harry Potter Gryffindor Robe Child Costume, Large, Black
I am an adult female, 5'6" and 150lbs and I bought the child's Large to use for myself as a harry potter robe for a Halloween costume- I specifically wanted a robe that didn't drown me, wasn't too hot (it's still hot down here in FL), not too long that I'd trip on, and didn't cost more than $20. This fit the bill.

Sure the emblem is not a patch, it is an iron-on decal- but it still looks nice! The robe is a lightweight synthetic material that still drapes decently. Again, I wasn't looking for a heavy robe due to the warm climate. It also fit VERY well, surprisingly, in all areas- sleeves were long enough, it closed in the front, and it came down mid calf -perfect length! It looks like it was made to fit someone of my height, and has a look similar to that of a 3/4 length dress or overcoat.

If you want the heavier robe with the embroidered decal, I believe that is the "deluxe" version. Somewhere along the way the reviews for this product and the reviews for that one got mixed up. This is the "cheaper" version but it is a good value fore the money. I am very happy and will be using this for many Halloweens to come.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Newt Scamander: Cinematic Guide
New Harry Potter Child's Costume Robe Wand Glasses Set
New Harry Potter Child's Costume Robe Wand Glasses Set
Electronic Torture, Electronic Rape: Technology and Gang Stalking at the Post Office
Electronic Torture, Electronic Rape: Technology and Gang Stalking at the Post Office
Having worked for the post office for twenty years myself, I found about 75% of this story quite easy to believe. I have met some very unsavory, sadistic, manipulative (also easily manipulated) people working in this business. I have to say that the majority of people are not evil, but it only takes one if they have a position of power or are particularly psychopathic.

The author writes very much in the same style I would have written the story if it had happened to me. I've always been one to document things at work just in case I needed it at a later date. It was helpful on a few occasions. Although the typos in the text got on my nerves, it didn't stop me from finishing the book in one sitting.

The point where I started to question her sanity is where you would guess, where she starts talking about the mind control devices implanted in her body somehow. Not that it couldn't be possible, but it's just textbook tinfoil hat conspiracy theory stuff. Can't prove it's true. Can't prove its false. Still, something to keep in the back of my mind for future reference.

What it reminded me of was the sort of "pre-anxiety attack days" when people thought they were really having heart attacks instead of panic attacks. Before it was really a topic of public knowledge. Maybe the author is having symptoms of some yet to be discovered mental illness. Or maybe not.

Regardless. It's very interesting to ponder and the story keeps your interest. I wish I knew more of the specifics of this office and its location. I feel like if I had been there I would have documented hard evidence and just sent it to everyone from the postmaster to the FBI just to be heard. Yes there is corruption in management for sure, but they aren't all corrupt and there is always someone above your boss, and their boss.

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil (Ultra Fine Brow Defining Pencil) - 3 - Warm Light Brown
I have blond eyebrows, so if I don’t fill them in they look non existent. I bought the medium brown color for some contract to my blond hair and it is the perfect shade. I’ve been scared to use pencils in the past because I’m not a professional and I was scared of that over drawn look. This product is so easy to use and the brow brush really blends everything nicely. I have gotten so many complements on my eyebrows since using this product and I literally have no clue what I’m doing. Definitely the best product on the market that I’ve tried and I’ve tried a lot.

mi auguro duri a lungo negli anni

I've tried three of the Vahdam tea's now, the Assam, English Breakfast and now this CTC Assam.

This makes for a very strong brew, with a deep colour and it's a very tasty tea, with a slight edge of bitterness that is not untypical of this type. You can probably use a little less in the pot as a result. It's a good every day strong brew, but it lacks the wonderful freshness of the Assam and Breakfast blend.

I'm settling on the English Breakfast as my favourite daily brew, with the deliciously malty Assam more for summer drinking. Either way the high quality of Vahdams teas cannot be disputed, I'd never really thought of freshness as a significant factor in tea production, but if Vahdam's tea's are anything to go by, it makes a huge difference to the taste.
