The Enormous Room
The Enormous Room
This book is a fictionalized memoir of e. e. cummings' experiences of World War I. He had volunteered as an ambulance driver, along with a friend of his. As a result of something his friend wrote, he and his friend were arrested and spent a little more than three months in a French detention camp, most of it together.

I have seen this book described as an autobiographical novel, but I don't want to use that term because I think it would be misleading. I'm sure that some to perhaps much of this is based only very loosely on real people and real incidents, but I believe that the story cummings tells in this book is nonetheless true. That is, I believe that it is quite true to his real-life experiences. Even if he embellished characters and events a lot at times, I am quite sure that the overall impression one gets from reading the book presents a true-to-life depiction of that place and time and what he experienced.

Part of what made me enjoy this book so much is the sheer artistry of it. I'm being a little tongue-in-cheek, of course, because cummings was in fact an artist, and the original edition this work included many of his sketches. This Kindle edition did not include those, but I saw some of them online, and enjoyed them very much. One day I hope to be able to obtain a print version that does contain the drawings. But the artistry I'm referring to here is the artistry of his writing. He plays such wonderful games with language here, as he would later in his works of poetry. But this book is all the more enjoyable because he wrote it in two languages, French as well as English. I have a more than passing acquaintance with French, but I still had to have my _ Cassell's French Dictionary _ at my side as I read this book. But it was more than worth it. It was indeed a joy.

By coincidence, I read this book just after reading Simone Weil's _ The Need For Roots _, which coincidently has a forward by one of the other great poets of the day, T. S. Eliot. Had I not read what she had to say about the low status of the police in French society, I would not have been able to fully appreciate cummings' many comments about that. I'm guessing that when modern Americans read his comments about gendarmes being so unpopular that seeing two of them escort a prisoner might inspire town folk to think about mounting a rescue, they would suspect that cummings was exaggerating a bit. Having read Weil, I was prepared to take him at face value.

I probably read this book differently from most people because I too have spent time in prison. I knew exactly what he meant when he wrote:

A hideous crash nipped the last word. I had supposed the whole prison to
have been utterly destroyed by earthquake, but it was only my door closing.

I certainly didn't spend time in a prison like his, but I believe his story.

I have been a fan of e. e. cummings' poetry since high school, but I had never heard of this, his first book, until just recently; I came across a reference to it, I think, on a religious blog. I couldn't wait to read it, and I was not disappointed when I did. This is definitely a great work, and I can't believe I never came across it before now. I think this book is one of the indispensable books about World War I, right up there with _ The Guns of August _ and _ All Quiet on the Western Front _. I would give this book six stars if I could.

Steve Jobs: The Man Behind the Bitten Apple: Insight into the Thoughts and Actions of Apple’s Founder (Billionaire Visionaries Book 3)
I agree with the review by L. Montgomery; the 59 positive (five and four star) customer ratings for this book look contrived and not authentic. Mr. MacGergor's book is flimsy, superficial and not much more than a description of Apple's innovative product line. I was hoping to gain some insight into the life and personality of Steve Jobs but found this book avoided delving into this, other than general descriptions of how products were developed. Disappointing waste of time. This 48 page "book" reads like a high school research paper. Don't expect to gain much about Steve Jobs here.
T-34 vs StuG III: Finland 1944 (Duel Book 96)
T-34 vs StuG III: Finland 1944 (Duel Book 96)

Get the Life You Really Want (Quick Reads) (Quick Reads 2012)
If you follow the Dragons Den you will have seen James in action. This book is a short read about his philosophies in life and the rules he follows both in business and his personal life...

A great read each chapter covers a different aspect and has a brief summery of the points raised at the end...

An excellent read, great for anyone wanting to get the most out of life... Basic stuff but positive stuff that we all should know but sometimes forget...

A Ladybird Book About Donald Trump (Ladybirds for Grown Ups)
My sister in England sent me a hardcover of this little book. Let us call it a children's book for adults. It may have been overtaken by events. It has amusing text, good illustrations. What's not to like about a book that has Trump tweeting about elephants, "... If crazy weird trunk guys threaten USA they will face CONSEQUENCES LIKE NEVER BE [sic] SEEN! ...." and then finding out he is watching National Geographic, rather than Fox News. The last page, however, is the scariest, and I will not spoil it for you. The book is available in the US in Kindle edition.

Fallen Angels
Fallen Angels
I listened to this album on the day of its release while driving to work. I can recommend it without reservation and thus the five stars. I need not repeat the information contained in the useful review by Bill Pence. However, I want to start this review by saying that I think that the comparisons to Sinatra that accompanied most reviews of the Shadows in the Night album and which are bound to accompany this one are overblown. I am a huge Sinatra fan and I am familiar with the vast majority of his recording output. The fact is that over the course of his career, there are few songs that qualify as standards that were not recorded by Sinatra; Skylark is a noticeable exception. Thus, any artist who issues an album of standards will necessarily be revisiting territory staked out by Sinatra. The question is not whether the artist is recording a song by Sinatra; the question is whether the artist brings anything to the song that makes listening to it worthwhile. In this, (unlike, say, Rod Stewart) Dylan succeeds. The production is masterful and the low-key arrangements allow you to actually hear the words and melody. Over the course of his career, Dylan has had a tendency to change his singing style from one album to the next. It is best, I think, to realize that on each album he is acting a role. This album reinforces my conception that most of the time, the voice you have heard is an affectation. This is true, too, here: the role he plays here is different than the one on Shadows. On that album, there was a melancholy air; the voice you heard was one who was looking back with regret. On this album, despite similar instrumentation and similarly low-key arrangements, Dylan plays the role of someone who has seen it all, but nevertheless has hope. It is like the fellow on Shadows, who was resigned to the fact that he was at the end of his life and did not have much to show for it, just met someone who has revitalized him. There is obvious trepidation. The arrangement on, It Had to be You (which begins with the full preamble leading into the song you are familiar with) is not the big-band, Harry Connick, Jr., version from When Harry Met Sally; it is a song that is delivered as a simple statement of fact. This is true of all of the songs on the album. I am not sure if I would say that this album and its immediate predecessors are masterpieces. I will tell you that they are very, very good. They are among, I think, his best output. I will also tell you that it was Dylan’s Austin concert in May of 2015, where he sang the songs from Shadows, that convinced my wife, finally, to embrace him as an artist. Fans of Dylan’s who grew up with his music in the 60s may not appreciate what he is doing here; but the fact of the matter is, if you go back to his very first album, you will see that what is doing here is what he has always done and trying to limit him to a particular time and place and genre is to miss entirely what he is and always has been about.
Walking with God: A Journey Through the Bible
Walking with God: A Journey Through the Bible
I am about 1/3 of the way through this book. I wish I had had it when doing the actual bible study with Jeff Cavins last year. The bible study gives the big picture of salvation history, and this book delves in more detail the who, what, and why. It is important to know the original meaning of the Greek or Hebrew words used in scripture as well as the cultural and historical meaning behind the event, without which many events seem arbitrary. There are many connections I would never think of, many subtleties I would never guess at that are actually important to understanding what God is trying to teach us in these stories and histories. Everything is important--each word, each phrase, the order of stories, the meaning behind the detail. For example, I have always skipped through the laws and details of the Levitical priesthood (boring), but one of the things the details of God's command for the ornate garments (details of stones and their colors on the breastplate of the priest)and materials used in the building of the ark, etc...is to show us that the very best is to be used to worship and glorify God. Hence the importance the Catholic Church places on the beauty of her churches, priestly robes, altar, tabernacle, etc...is clearly indicated by Scripture, God Himself! A barren, plain church (as was frequently built during 60's,70's, and 80's in the name of giving to the poor)does not glorify God and does nothing to bring hearts and minds to Him in worship, thereby neither serving God, nor supporting the people in becoming the charitable people God wants them to be through true worship. Truly fascinating, very good reading, and makes me love to read the Bible.

The product is great, but it didn’t come with the extra keychain bottle opener as advertised in both written and photograph form. If you aren’t going to provide the keychain, then do not include it in the product description as a “bonus” gift, and was one reason why I chose this so that my dad could have a portable one and one to keep at home. The keychain he could have shown off to his friends at work, and was my intention, but now all he has is the main opener.

DGLighting Superhero Cartoon Shape 3D Illusion LED Desk Lamp Night Light with Lighted ABS Base and USB Cable,7 Colors Change,Smart Touch Button Control,for Home Decor (Black Panther)
I bought this about two or three days ago and it arrived in good overall condition. On my specific one the bottom lid doesn't close completely due to the three double A batteries but it's not a deal breaker. My only annoyance is that to my eyes the yellow LED color is not a natural yellow but a yellow greenish hue. Keep in mind that this is relative since color is a perception and not everyone sees color the same way even though I don't suffer from color blindness. As you can see in the pictures for comparison there's a yellow greenish color and a solid green color.

Other than that I love it. Maybe in the future they'll release an updated model. Build, size, and price is on par with similar decorations.

I already purchased the single carded Thanos Marvel Universe. So why continue to purchase this? This Thanos is a variant colored Thanos. With a Dark Purple and glimmering Gold paints!!! Comes with Warlock (including In Infinity Gauntlet!) and Free Comic! I wanted to get more familiar with Thanos' background but this single comic reprint issue will not explain much! You'll have to purchase the Infinity Gauntlet Trade Paper Back to get more information on these 2 characters! Overall, it's totally worth it! Great Sculpts and Fantastic Paints!
Rising Tides: Chesapeake Bay Saga
Rising Tides: Chesapeake Bay Saga
THE SERIES:
The Chesapeake Bay series includes four books which tell a continuing story about a family. Ray and Stella Quinn adopt three troubled boys who came from abusive homes. In the first three books the boys are about 30 years old. They left home, have good jobs and are single. Stella died several years earlier. In the beginning of the first book Ray took in another boy, 10-year-old Seth, who was abused by his mother Gloria. Gloria offered to give legal guardianship to Ray in return for a large sum of money. Before anything was official, Ray died in a car accident. Shortly before he died, he asked his three sons to move back home to take care of Seth. All three men promised they would. They decide to start a boat building business. In the first three books each of the three men meets and falls in love with a woman. The fourth book tells the story of Seth, who is grown, returns home and falls in love. The best parts of the first three books are watching the developing relationships among Seth and the three men and seeing Seth blossom. Each book has a minor amount of fantasy due to some conversations with a ghost. The four books, main characters, and my ratings are:
Sea Swept (Cameron and Anna) 4 stars
Rising Tides (Ethan and Grace) 3 stars
Inner Harbor (Phillip and Sybill) 3 stars
Chesapeake Blue (Seth and Dru) 2.5 stars

STORY BRIEF (Rising Tides, Book 2):
As a child, Ethan was abused by his prostitute-drug-addict mother and sold to men. Ethan has decided never to marry or have children because he believes his blood is tainted with his mother's genes. He has secretly loved Grace for years but never acted on it. Ethan is quiet, introverted, and works as a waterman (fishing for crabs). Grace is eight years younger. She has secretly loved Ethan since she was a teenager, but she gave up on him since he never showed any interest. She got pregnant and married at age 22. Her husband left before the baby was born. Grace has been raising her daughter alone and working two jobs: cocktail waitress and cleaning houses. The relationship will happen only if Grace makes the first moves, because Ethan will never act on his feelings.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
Book 2 is good but not great. There wasn't much happening, not much plot. The best part was seeing the further development of 10-year-old Seth through his relationships with the three adult Quinn brothers. Read book 1 first. If you like that, then read this.

DATA:
Story length: 330 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: none. Number of sex scenes: 4. Total number of sex scene pages: 9. Setting: current day Chesapeake Bay area in Maryland. Copyright: 1998. Genre: contemporary romance with fantasy.

Skin Deep: The O'Hurleys
Skin Deep: The O'Hurleys
This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading these stories again like some that I already have, and I am impatient to read the rest of Nora Roberts' stories right now. Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about family plus inventive, vivid characters, all on top of seriously wonderful love and romance. Each story is about one key person, usual in a family, or close group of friends, they are linked through intricate, messy links and it's almost like a movie you get the privilege of witnessing about these people's powerful, emotional, and often times painful journey towards falling in love. Roberts is one of my most favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in this series. Her unique style and classy, yet moving love scenes, paint a beautiful picture that leaves a person longing for something similar for themselves. All of that is combined into this fantastic series and make this book a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously!! Lol I was nodding off over my book on several different occasions. Worth the price and more to have a Nora Roberts book in your library collection!!!!!!
Medicine Ground (Dramatized)
Medicine Ground (Dramatized)
I found this story to be a bit predictable, but the characterizations were good and the special effects are a great addition. The audio is crisp and clear and easily heard in a car environment.
The Cactus Kid, on the way to meet his girl at a social, is waylayed by the Fernandez brothers bent on revenge for the killing (by the Kid) of one of their brothers. Then they deicide to further the revenge by kidnapping the Kid's girl, Bess, and bringing her (and the kid) to an old indian medicine ground. No one, but they, know where they are, and all will think the Kid and Bess have eloped together. It looks as if the Fernandez brothers will get their revenge with no one the wiser.
At times it is a bit difficult to follow the story, but a couple of listenings cleared it up (some). Anyway, I enjoyed the tale and recommend the audio book. Run time: 60 minutes.

Truth or Die
Truth or Die
I usually love Patterson books, but this one was more like a first novel. Each chapter--only 2 or 3 pages--ended hanging with anticipation of what was to come. That became old after a while. The analogies were a bit over the top--example from page 176, "My right foot was like a cinder block on the gas, while my head was like a bobble doll, bouncing all around."

I am only about half way through the book but I no longer feel involved with the protagonist as there is action after action without much plot. I find it difficult to even know what the point of all this action is about. I no longer care and am going to quit reading this book, at page 176. I hate to quit a book so this is unusual. But my time is worth more than finishing this one.

I am surprised Patterson put his name on this book. I see the writer as having potential, but I don't think this book was ready for publication.

Sorry to have to say this, but I think readers can find many more exciting and engaging books to spend their time with than this one.

The Guns of Navarone
The Guns of Navarone
A lot has been said about this book over the years, but here is my take.

Briefly: During WWII the Germans place large, radar guided artillery pieces on a Greek island (Navarone, of course) which wreak havoc on Allied ships in the area. They are about to use these guns to wipe out an island full of British soldiers, so a small team of commandos is sent to blow up the guns in order to clear the way for a rescue mission. The team, composed of experts in various fields (mountaineering, demolition, engineering), heads to the island and finally to the fortress in which the guns are concealed. They face obstacles at every turn, including pursuit by the Germans, a climb up an unclimbable cliff, attacks by Stukas, and a traitor (in true MacLean fashion). They face incredible odds, survive incredible hardship, and literally with seconds to spare they complete the mission.

The book was written more than sixty years ago by a Scottish guy who wrote numerous action / adventure books, many set during WWII. It is an interesting story about something that never happened on an island that does not exist. Nevertheless, it is authentic in many ways. We see how a small group of commandos would carry out such a mission, how German soldiers performed garrison duty, and how both sides interacted at a personal level among themselves, with each other, and with the inhabitants of occupied territories.

Interesting, and perhaps a bit annoying at times, is the language. There are words, abbreviations, and sentence constructions that are simply not used today. For example, nobody gets on an airplane and goes “for’ard” anymore. Also interesting, but more irritating, is the author’s attempt to capture and record his perception of American slang. One of the commandos is an American, a Texan I believe, and his dialog is full of atrocious colloquialisms and abbreviations – it just comes off wrong, kind of like an American poorly imitating a British accent.

Most annoying is the weird punctuation. The author totally confuses colons, semicolons, and commas. Maybe that’s how they did it way back when, but to the modern reader it’s confusing. Even more confusing is the use of the single quotation mark in place of the normal double quotation mark. All dialog is denoted like this: ‘Here is some dialog from a character’ instead of “Here is some more dialog.” This may be the fault of the author, or it may be a mistake by whoever transferred this book into Kindle-type, but in any case it is distracting, ‘specially considerin’ all them ‘postrophes this guy uses.

Despite the faults, however, it is a good book, well worth the time it takes to read it, and it was the basis for a pretty decent movie. You won’t go wrong readin’ at least a few Alistair MacLean books.

Secretos familiares (Saga King & Maxwell 4) (Spanish Edition)
The Second Confession (A Nero Wolfe Mystery Book 15)
The Second Confession (A Nero Wolfe Mystery Book 15)
As all of the books in this series, the events occur contemporary to the time they are written. Stout began this novel in March 1949 and finished it in April, the events described all take place in June of that year.

As the story begins Wolfe receives a wealthy business man, James Sperling, who insists upon hiring Wolfe to solve a domestic problem, the sort of case that does not appeal to Wolfe at all, but the brownstone is an expensive enterprise to run and so Wolfe hears the man out, and agrees to accept the commission according to his own terms. The problem is the man's youngest daughter, Gwen, has insisted upon a suitor that her parents find most unsuitable. The father is seeking proof that the man is a Communist, something that would cause the young woman to break off the relationship of her own accord.

In order to obtain the necessary proof Archie is dispatched to join, incognito, a house party at the family estate. Wolfe and Archie foresee few difficulties in this plan, both are confident in Archie's ability to either obtain the desired information or to distract the young woman from her unsuitable beau. Sadly their confidence was misplaced. Archie did manage to get the desired proof but with some unwanted complications and when he returned to the brownstone discovered that their current case had once again brought them to the attention of the mysterious arch villain Zeck. While Archie was away on the case Wolfe had been warned to either drop the case or suffer the consequences. As Archie and Wolfe discuss the problem they discover what consequences Zeck has chosen to visit upon them - an attack on Wolfe's precious orchids.

Rather than scaring Wolfe off the attack has only strengthened his resolve, driving him out of the brownstone and into the wilds of Westchester county to solve the case. Before he manages to restore order, and expose the truth, Wolfe is required to stay away from the brownstone overnight, make due with meals that are well beneath his usual standards, consort with known Communists, ghost write newspaper articles and extract Archie from a charge of at least manslaughter.

This novel, like most in the series, can certainly be read and enjoyed out of order but it does refer to previous encounters with Zeck, and the ending strongly implies that this will not be the final encounter with Zeck.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Extended Version)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Extended Version)
Raised by a family who detests him, Harry Potter (Radcliffe) learns he is a wizard and soon finds himself at school of magic Hogwarts.

It's hard to imagine in the 90's J.K Rowling being rejected a contract for her wizard series. The Harry Potter franchise has spun further than many anticipated and this film reminds us of the moment when the franchise really took off and some magic really happened.

Almost 8 years ago now and current renowned teen stars Radcliffe, Watson and Grint star in their first roles as the famous friends Harry, Hermione and Ron, all with a magical gift. So the acting is far from perfect, it hardly matters now when you watch the series as the actors learn from their mistakes and we see them growing up and facing more challenging tests, for their characters and for themselves.

It is however the older actors who generate the magic of acting. Alan Rickman was born to play Snape whilst Richard Harris fits the role of Dumbledore like a glove.

But this is all about the story of a young unappreciated boy who was born in a different lifetime from his adoptive parents the Dursleys. Struggling under the strain of life Harry is thrown a lifeline when he arrives at Hogwarts, a chance to make friends and live life as he wants. This is an entertaining 2 hour picture that generates laughs, mystery and excitement in the form of a different world. The concept of magic is always tricky to cover in terms of realism but J.K Rowling's imagination is frequently present here and is adapted with some gusto in this 2001 fantasy adventure.

However where this film offers spills and thrills consistently there is so much missing from the book. More imagination and excitement appears on the pages where we see more characters are introduced. Therefore it is worth reading before viewing, s with all the instalments.

John Williams' score fits the scene perfectly whereas Chris Columbus' direction is good, you can't but feel the elements of magic could have been justified to generate a bit more surprise. Nevertheless the Quidditch match is some of the finest sporting direction you will ever see in the franchise.

This first part is a humorous and enthralling family adventure that does enough good justice to the book and with some good performances is a fine reminder of where the young stars started and where the franchise really begun.

These are very fun! We used them for a blue ad gold scout banquet and they were a BIG hit with the kids and adults alike. Be aware that they come on a big sheet of plastic (like the disposable tablecloths) so you have to cut them out. Not an easy task, especially in the middle of preparing for a party. This left me more than a little frazzled by my lack of planning when I didn't open the package until set-up time! If they had been individually cut..they would have gotten 5 stars from me. For the price, it was great...but..the cutting was a lot of work!
How to Write a Grant: Become a Grant Writing Unicorn
How to Write a Grant: Become a Grant Writing Unicorn
All the things I LOVED about this book:

- personal stories that gave life to the book and helped me to learn from Meredith's mistakes and successes
- awesome tips for being more efficient and organized
- templates and structures for how to organize one's self, the process, timeline, and your team
- covers the whole process from how to find opportunities, to formulating and refining ideas, to managing a team (or oneself), to all the nitty gritty details in grant proposals that drive us all nuts
- provides a "actions you can take right now" throughout the book to help you get started in bite-sized, yet effective chunks (and we all know that it's the 'getting started' stage that is often the hardest part!)
- it's concise (hallelujah!) and written in a conversational tone that makes the book actually FUN to read (for reals!)
- OMG the grants database platform she stumbled upon years ago...it's AH-MAZE-ING. I totally got our organization to sign up for the platform after reading Meredith's book. Within the first few days we found over 200 grant opportunities for a new project my team is working on, and Meredith's tips and tricks for using the platform have been a game-changer!
- key advice on key decision points from an experienced grant writer...especially to help you when to decide NOT to go after certain grants (ultimately designed to save you time and precious resources!)
- time management skills specifically tailored to writing a grant (OMG I def read this part closely)
- how to leverage other sources of $$ for match (THANK YOU FOR THIS that part is always super challenging) and get awesome letters of support
- it gets you in the minds of many experienced grant writers who all struggle with the same questions - AND even better, gets you to get into the mindset of a funder...
- a much needed glossary for the beginner (yes yes and yes!)
- how to put together a funding strategy (and how this is different from a grant proposal)...I've been struggling with this one for almost 2 years since I started working for my current organization...seeing this was like a god-send for inexperienced and unorganized me who suddenly found herself in charge of an organization in need of sustainable long-term funding!
- it was not long, boring, overly-complex, and dense like pretty much every other grant writing book out there... (took me only a few hours to read!!)

What would have been nice but wasn't in there (maybe could be in edition #2?):

- an overview of the funders landscape, especially with key differences in government versus private foundation versus other types of funders
The Workplace Engagement Solution: Find a Common Mission, Vision and Purpose with All of Today's Employees
The Workplace Engagement Solution: Find a Common Mission, Vision and Purpose with All of Today's Employees
The problem to be solved is widely recognized and getting worse. The results of major research studies indicate that, on average in a U.S. company, less than 30% of the employees are actively and productively engaged; the others are either passively engaged (“mailing it in”) or actively disengaged (undermining the employer’s success). There are many reasons and they vary in nature and extent from one organization to another.

Add these pieces to the puzzle. First, the results of all major research studies indicate that employees rank “feeling appreciated” in the top three of what they consider most important. Also, companies annually ranked among those most highly admired and best to work for are also annually ranked among those most profitable and with the greatest cap value in their industry segment.

David Harder wrote this book to help business leaders solve the workplace engagement problem by finding “a common mission, vision, and purpose with all [or at least most] of today’s employees.”

I wholly agree with Harder that these two are among the main reasons why that strategic objective has been so elusive:

First, “Engagement only works as a democratic process. It is futile to expect an awakening when we use the old hierarchical model of pushing leaders to become skilled at drawing engagement out of talent. They will not respond to more manipulation. They need and crave personal involvement and individual transformation.”

Comment: C-level executives and other supervisors mull the same unspoken question that almost everyone else does: “What’s in it for me?”

Also, “We need to provide people with the skills to break out of the trance [of indifference]. For years, academics, management consultants, and human resource professionals have discussed the ‘broken employment contract.’ But, as we lost the promises and assurances of the Industrial Revolution, organizations have typically failed in defining what it is that we need to do in order to thrive within the rapid, disruptive, and transformative change we find ourselves in. By extension, much of today’s talent has obsolete work skills and no new life skills. Consequently, they become overwhelmed in simply trying to keep up with the change. We need to help them close these gaps.”

Comment: Harder wrote this book to help business leaders to respond effectively to these and other challenges. They, in turn, would be well-advised to keep in mind this passage from Lao-tse’s Tao Te Ching:

"Learn from the people
Plan with the people
Begin with what they have
Build on what they know;
Of the best leaders
When the task is accomplished
The people will remark
We have done it ourselves." `

Near the end of this book, Harder observes: “In moving forward with The Workplace Engagement Solution, Make mid-managers your priority. Remember that they touch [begin italics] everything]. And of they leave, remember that tomorrow’s employer will be not be evaluated by how much they paid employees, but rather they will be judged by how much they grew them while they were there.”

In the final chapter, “Getting Started,” Harder stresses a number of key points while suggesting a multi-step process by which to proceed. Keep in mind that it really is an on-going process rather than an ultimate destination. Most change initiatives either fail or fall far below original expectations. Reasons vary from one organization to the next but there are at least two common realities: those who defend the status quo were probably involved in efforts to replace the previous status quo; also, the staunchest resistance tends to be cultural in nature, the result of what James O’Toole so aptly characterizes as “the ideology of comfort and the tyranny of custom.”

I commend David Harder on the wealth of information, insights, and counsel he provides. Ultimately and obviously, however, each reader must select from the material what is most relevant to their own organization in terms of its needs, resources, values, and goals. However, it is imperative for everyone involved to share and commit to a compelling vision and mission, driven by a common purpose.
Nintendo Switch with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy‑Con - HAC-001(-01)
Nintendo Switch with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy‑Con - HAC-001(-01)
This is my review of the 'V2' (2019) version of the Nintendo Switch (model #HAC-001(-01)).

So a little background, I was a enthusiastic PC gamer in college who built my own PCs for the purpose and am now - due to the demands of adulthood - someone who only plays the occasional game. My last handheld Nintendo console was the black and white Game Boy Pocket in the early 90's, so I've been away from the platform ---- a while.

I bought the Switch purely because I learned they had ported Skyrim to it, and as a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls genre I was hoping to devote some of my train commute to questing around Tamriel. In this sense, the Switch does not disappoint. I am not a graphics connoisseur, but - compared to the PC version - Skryim plays really well on the Switch. No perceptible lag, colors are crisp. Yes, it's missing the expansions and yes, the text can be a little small, but that's a fair trade-off for the portability this platform brings.

So far, I only own 2 games - Skyrim and MarioKart 8 (another throwback to my college dorm days on the N64), and I love playing both on the Switch, MaroKart is obviously the newer game and so the graphics and gameplay are much better but I'm a still a sucker for Skyrim (at least until the next ES is released, hopefully in my lifetime).

Anyway, all this to say the Nintendo Switch is a great console for busy adults who want to reminisce about the fun they had 10, 20, or even 30 years ago. The Switch doesn't take itself too seriously (which I love) but that means it might not be the right choice for people concerned with the perfect graphic or gameplay experience - there are dedicated consoles that do this much better. What the Switch does is make gaming on the go effortless, fun for the average busy person and something you can really enjoy with your whole family - which I think was Nintendo's real goal here all along.
Hanes Boxeador sin etiqueta con cintura ComfortFlex
Hanes Boxeador sin etiqueta con cintura ComfortFlex
I've been a loyal Hanes customer for years, but as with so many other manufacturers and their products, the quality has noticeably declined.

When I received the new pairs, the difference in quality was immediately obvious, especially in the fabric itself.

Just for kicks, I put a new pair and an old pair on my head, over my eyes. I could easily see through the thin fabric of the new pair, but I could just barely see through the fabric of the older pair. And the older pair feels better, too.

After washing them, I noticed that a lot of threads needed trimming and the waist bands are not as good as they once were.

You could easily get away with wearing these, but the quality is lacking. Had these been of better quality, I would have stocked up as usual. Instead I ended up buying my underwear from Duluth Trading Co, and making rags out of every last pair of these Hanes.

By the way, the cost of Duluth Trading products is a bit higher, but I find them worth it. The quality is outstanding. Wait for a sale if you plan on buying from them - they are fairly regular and worth the wait. You'll be spoiled though so keep that in mind.
Midwifery & Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Review Guide
Midwifery & Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Review Guide
This book is extremely helpful for reviewing current guidelines and for specific system reviews. I used it during my women's health rotation as a supplement and substitute for some the required text readings, as their was too much material to review and it was difficult to retain that much information. This book presents information based by systems and it is laid out in a format that is easy to review. The questions at the end of the sections allow for evaluated of information retention and serves as a good indicator of areas that require additional review. I definitely feel that this book contributed to my success in the clinical and didactic portions of my women's health course.
Saeco 10004768 Kaffeevollautomat, Edelstahl, 2 liters
Saeco 10004768 Kaffeevollautomat, Edelstahl, 2 liters

- l'intensità del caffè (3 livelli di scelta);
- caffè espresso o americano (rispettivamente stretto o lungo);
- Cappuccino;
- Latte macchiato;

- la gradazione di calore del caffè, da meno a più caldo (personalmente l'ho impostata alla temperatura massima);
- 4 livelli di durezza dell'acqua;
- programma di decalcificazione;
- timer di autospegnimento;
- la luminosità del display;
- attivare/disattivare la presenza di un filtro addolcitore;

* * * * Spero che la mia opinione ti sia stata utile* * * *

Linksys EA6350 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router for Home (AC1200 Fast Wireless Router),Black
Linksys EA6350 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router for Home (AC1200 Fast Wireless Router),Black
Ok, I was in the same boat as many other negative reviewers here. I couldn't get the Smart WIFI Web Based Setup to work, then the router started to loop and then it would randomly reset/reboot on its own. Now, I am not a network tech or even in IT but I do know my way around most electronic devices. These symptoms that others had written about were the same that I was now experiencing with this brand new router. Heck, I couldn't even make it to the setup page to try and update the firmware because of the hardware resetting/rebooting every 10-45 seconds.

Stepping back for just a moment, this reminded me of a 12v audio/computer installation that experienced similar problems/behavior. Our 12v in car PC would have instability and random reboots/random hardware failures. After many hours testing each component in the setup as well as checking each wire in the custom harness, a ROOKIE, yes a ROOKIE got his multimeter out and tested the source power (where the harness was hooked to the battery/distribution box) and the destination connections (where the harness lead into the car PC) and as it turns out, the voltage was below 10V, causing us to realize that we used the wrong gauge wire. We essentially used the bare minimum wire for the installation and whenever the in car PC would have a load on it (cold boot), the voltage would drop just enough to cause issues. We beefed up the power line considerably and all was well after that.

Why the heck do I write a router review that includes a story about a 12v car PC? Cause the same problem is here:

The Linksys label on the bottom of the router calls for a 12v 2a power supply. I checked the power supply that this NEW router came with and low and behold, the darn thing is rated for 12v 0.5a. This router will NEVER work properly without the correct power supply. I got a power supply from my LED strip parts bin that was rated for 12v 3.0a and plugged it in (same barrel connector). The router immediately came online, downloaded its updated firmware immediately and went online within 1 minute. I have only had this router for two hours since the power supply was corrected and I have had NO issues as of yet.

To all of the folks that still have this router and are having any intermittent connectivity issues or having setup issues, check the power supply label and see if it is 12v 2.0a or higher. If it is not, replace it and hopefully that will solve your issues. Keep in mind that you may need to complete a factory reset with the new power supply and go through the setup process (as noted in the forums and manuals). If your router still is NOT working after correcting the power supply and redoing the factory reset & setup, then you may truly have a defective unit.

Mishcdea Small Rice Cooker, Low Sugar Rice Cooker, Personal Size Cooker for 1-2 People, Multi Food Steamer, 24 Hours Preset, Portable Rice Cooker 3 Cups (Uncooked), White
This is a small size rice cooker which, apart from its usual functions of making rice and porridge and soup, also allows for a low sugar rice cooking option. In this option, the maximum dry rice amount is 1 1/2 cups according to the measure. You insert the included metal tray on the top before cooking, select low sugar option, and start cooking. It will be done in about 35 minutes. This tray seems to capture the water with its extra starch or sugar in the tray, which will have to be removed carefully to avoid spilling, using some utensils or a heatproof cloth to prevent your fingers getting burned.

The resulting rice seems pretty much like regular wise, but it is supposedly 20 to 40% lower in sugar. We'll take anything we can get if it reports to improve her health, so this is a great option for eating rice with less carbs, if their claims are true.

You can also set a timer to start cooking within 24 hours in one hour increments.

This is a small cooker, so you will still need a larger cooker around for larger groups. This rice cooker looks really cute, and everything looks and feels great including the rice spoon.

Darrell Lea Mixed Flavor Soft Australian Made Licorice 7oz Bag - NON-GMO, NO HFCS, Vegetarian & Kosher - America's #1 Soft Eating Licorice Brand!
Bought as a snack. We love Darrell Lea, but can't find it where we live. It's wonderful: Soft, chewy, bright and fruity. We bought this variety pack to try all the fruit flavors and they were wonderful.

Someone complained that they bought these and they were dry and dusty, but ours weren't like that. We were worried, because we live in an extremely hot climate, that they might ooze or melt. Good news! They were bright, shiny, soft, gummy and delicious! No issues with quality of product. The bags are resealable too, so they've stayed fresh. Admittedly, I took the photos I added after eating almost half the bag and they still look and taste great!

This distributor is the best! Thank you for shipping us such a delightful treat. Our family loves them.
