TypeScript Microservices: Build, deploy, and secure Microservices using TypeScript combined with Node.js
TypeScript Microservices: Build, deploy, and secure Microservices using TypeScript combined with Node.js
Pros: Ok compilation of information, for reference.

Cons: Bad grammar, reads as though it was not edited or reviewed. Minimal code examples.

In summary, if you are looking for information about creating an application written in TypeScript and using microservices, this is not the book for you. You would be better off buying a book about microservices that is language agnostic, then applying what you already know about TypeScript and the microservice features of your chosen framework.

--

This book provides an ok compilation of information about the structure of a microservice oriented architecture, whilst a lot of information could be found online I find it useful to have all the information in one place that I can easily reference.

However, it reads like a first draft that was published without being reviewed by an editor. There are lots of grammatical mistakes, making more than a few concepts difficult to understand unless you reread that section (sometimes not even then) or look them up online.
Not to mention, there are frequently random digressions and sections that should have been removed as they don't add to the value of the information. One pertinent example of this is in chapter 4 under "Design aspects involved": "Let's say if I have to cut down a tree (PS: I am a nature lover and I don't support this), instead of directly chopping it down, I would rather first sharpen the axe."
Whilst it is admirable that the author doesn't support chopping down a tree, it is completely irrelevant in the context of a book that is supposed to be focusing on providing information succinctly.
It is this kind of thing that strongly suggests there was no editor involved.
I appreciate that English may not be the authors first language, indeed they do seem to have a good grasp on it, I am not going to dwell on this as I have read things written by native English speakers that are much worse.

I think the title is somewhat misleading, although TypeScript/JavaScript and Nodejs are used in the book, it is much more theory focused than code focused. Personally, I think the title should be more along the lines of "Microservices with examples in TypeScript" which even then puts a bit too much emphasis on TypeScript.
Really, you could take the information provided and apply it to any language you choose, you would just need to implement the sections on packages/NPM etc, differently according to that language.

All that being said, would I have bought the book or recommend it knowing all that? I wouldn't. There are better books that are the around the same price.
As it stands, I did buy it, and as I said it provides an ok reference for structuring a microservice application, I have found one or two things useful and it has answered some questions I have had. Which is why I have given it two stars.
If it was edited better and contained more examples and more complete examples, instead of scattered snippets, it would be a very good book for architecting microservices with TypeScript.
Sages: Warren Buffett, George Soros, Paul Volcker, and the Maelstrom of Markets
Sages: Warren Buffett, George Soros, Paul Volcker, and the Maelstrom of Markets
I listened to this book basically because I wanted to learn a bit about Soros, Buffett and Volcker, which this book was pretty good for. Certainly not a full biography, but enough to give a good intro. More than that, it was a discussion about how these three pragmatists views compared to the academics views, and basically makes the case that common sense and pragmatism wins the day both when viewed against the dogmas of the liberals or the conservative academics. Its a worthwhile read in that light and I actually found more helpful than Trillion Dollar Meltdown in understanding, at a high level, what was missed by the authorities.
The Best of Bob Dylan
The Best of Bob Dylan
The answer to that question is No. I think it has all been said about Dylan. So just let me add that this is a very, very good record and will be needed in the collection of any Dylan follower or fan. Would also fit nicely in a music collection for any music enthusiast in general, as it definitely catches the start and introduction of a new music movement in the early 60's.
Blowing in the wind was the anthem for the Civil Rights Movement: The Times They are a Changing captures the call of the "Hippie" Movement in America : and Like a Rolling Stone was Dylan's move into the Electric Folk Movement. So much history in one recording. Definitely A Must Have Collection of Music.

This a great story based on a song that I never liked. But don’t let this song steer you away from this really good story about second chances. It’s a quick enjoyable read with a happy ending. Give it a try. I am glad I did.

My 5 year old has had this permanently attached to him arm since he got it. The disk is foam (a little thin in my opinion) but so far has held up pretty well, and he's used it inside the house and in the back yard. Sometimes it seems like the mechanics stick, but you have to be doing the "swinging" motion at the same time you hit the release button. Overall I would say it's a good purchase.

The costume fit much better than I expected. Overall I am very happy with it.

Though the straps and accessories can use some work overall I’m not upset. Also If you want a cosplay worthy mask I’d suggest buying a separate one.

The costume is as advertised if not better. There is some funky stitching and delicate zippers but it’s not anything a tailor can’t fix.

I orginally was worried that a Large would be ill fitting. I’m extremely happy I purchased the large. I am around 5,8 and 185 pounds. It fits like a glove but affords mobility. Personally I think it fits better than some of the more expensive 300 dollar costumes I see online.

In conclusion, For the price and quality it is a great buy. If you are up for a project. Get some craft paint to dirty up the fabric, buy a new mask for about $30 and touch up the accessories. Once that’s done this $149 costume can compete with the ones $300 and up.

(Update)

Please note:
In regards to the pictures I uploaded, the mask and a few of the straps are from outside vendors. I also weathered the fabric
Robert Ludlum's (TM) The Arctic Event (A Covert-One novel Book 7)
Robert Ludlum's (TM) The Arctic Event (A Covert-One novel Book 7)
It is a great adventure book written in a classic style where good guys are good, bad guys are bad and the main villain is a former Soviet Union. All protagonists are colorful but not overcomplicated. The women could be a cold blooded killers and charming at the same time. The men are strong, heroic, athletic but also sensitive. The landscapes are cold and scary. The heroes come out miraculously unscathed from all life threatening situations. And good will always prevail. In terms of believability this book is closer to James Bond or Charlie Angels movies than to T. Clancy books. If you look for plot originality or psychological depths look somewhere else.
So what makes it special and such fun to read? It is all about how it is written. It is Ludlum (and J. H. Cobb) at his best when plot moves smoothly, pacing is perfect and you hardly can take your eyes off the pages. After recently reading several aspiring new authors this book was like a breath of fresh air to me. It reminded me how good books should be written.

Astro Boy
Astro Boy
Knowing how badly this movie did at the box office, I was expecting something really horrible. But, it was pretty darn good. It has great animation, art direction, and a story full of ethos. There are definitely some emotional parts that might overwhelm some children. I even got misty at certain moments. Being a father, I'm always looking for things to watch with my son. He's going through an Avenger's phase at the moment. I'm a big old school Marvel fan myself, growing up collecting comic books and trading cards. This movie is way better than some of the animation that have come out recently for Marvel.

The more old school cartoons that came out in 90s were much better dealing with more realistic or darker themes. The recent ones are very superficial. Characters being emotionally flat and under-developed. (I dread watching them with my son, often falling asleep.) It could be criticized that Astro Boy doesn't change much himself, being forever wide-eyed and idealistic, however, the characters around him do change dealing with themes like prejudice, segregation, militarism, and class-warfare. Some of the character arcs are unearned, but in comparison to even some adult films, they do earn it.

And this movie definitely earns a view. Not everyone will like it, but many more will. I recommend watching the first twenty minutes and making a decision for yourself. "Onward and upward..."

Merrick
Merrick
The beginning of the story David tells of how he knew of Merrick's powers and abilities to Louis. Also about how much David care for Merrick. Louis is deeply tormented with thoughts that is beloved Claudia might not be at peace.

Finally after David finished the story Louis get to meet Merrick. Louis and Merrick are taken with each other. Merrick agrees to do the spell to bring forth the spirit of Claudia. What will happen when Claudia comes forth? Will she confirm Louis' fear that she is not at peace or will she be at peace? What will be the consequences of the magic? Will anyone of our beloved characters be killed or hurt? What will happen to Merrick?

I love, love, love this book. It is one of my all time favorites and it is the book that got be started on my love of vampires. If you love books about witches, spirits, and vampires I would recommend you read this series. To fully understand Claudia you need to read Interview With A Vampire.

One last note. Anne Rice's vampires are different from any other vampire books I have ever read.(and I have read tons of vampire books) I love them!! They are the standard that I measure all other vampire books by. These books are romantic in a different level. The vampires are passionate but not in the sense of paranormal romance (and I love a good paranormal romance). They don't mate but they do stick together.

Harry Potter Woven Tapestry Throw Blanket, 48 x 60 Inches, Gryffindor Shield
Harry Potter Woven Tapestry Throw Blanket, 48 x 60 Inches, Gryffindor Shield
Bought this as a gift after reading reviews that it was uncomfortable for a blanket recommending it to be used as a rug or hang on the wall. Figured she'd end up using it as a rug as I recommended but instead she decided to use it as the actual blanket. After trying it out myself it's really not as uncomfortable as the reviews led me to believe. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world but it feels fine and it's warm. Along with that and more importantly the imagery on it is amazing and it's an extremely good looking blanket on top of a bed! I'd recommend for any Harry Potter fan that likes to keep warm!

"Deathworld: Book I" What an amazing story, on par with Burroughs and Wells that shares their rythmic writing style, Harry Harrison has outdone himself with the "Deathworld" series. Action packed, cerebral, and engrossing, this story is a real trip. The anti-hero protagonist, Jason dinAlt, is a rouguish charmer and ex-gambler who will capture your imagination and have you cheering him on. Can't wait to read the sequels!!!"Deathworld: Book II" is an extraordinary continuation of the story from master storyteller Harry Harrison. I felt like I was there, that's how he writes, simply amazing! It's no wonder why this series is revered by sci/fi fantasy/adventure aficionados the world over. VicTsing mm057 2.4G Wireless Portable Mobile Mouse Optical Mice with USB Receiver, 5 Adjustable DPI Levels, 6 Buttons for Notebook, PC, Laptop, Computer, MacBook (Gray)
Being one of the only IT guys in the family and among my group of friends; I often get asked questions on what are good tech products, after all some of these items are usually expensive and no one likes wasting money. With the past holiday season, I helped pick out laptops for nieces and nephews for school, gaming laptops for the friends, a custom made pc, and a slick new Macbook Pro. With all these new systems being bought, everyone’s next question is “What accessories should I purchase??”, I always suggest that anyone buying a laptop at least get a wireless mouse.

I have used wireless mice for years; there are great mice, good mice, and downright awful mice. Most of the choices out there on the market are going to be based on what you personally like, what feels good to you, and what functions well. I do a fair amount of travel for work and I have certain criteria for equipment to make it into my travel bag; after all I will be carrying that equipment around the airport from anywhere between 6-12 hours, so no junk allowed!!

For a wireless mouse I look for the following:
• Use on any surface laser
• Skids that slide well with ease on multiple surfaces
• Long term battery life
• Small USB receiver
• Comfort and size
• And above all else PRICE

The VicTsing MM057 checks off all of my criteria and more! On top of having all the features I require from above it also has:
• six (6) buttons, two of which are custom programmable which means you can make them do whatever you’d like!!
• On the Fly Adjustable DPI – this means you can adjust the sensitivity whenever you’d like, which is great if you like to play video games, this feature can come in handy.
• 2.4GHz wireless with a 15-foot reach, so you can easily use this for a media center pc while sitting comfortably on the sofa.

VicTsing got it right with the MM057, it is super comfortable in the hand, it’s large enough to provide good support to help prevent hand fatigue, and groves for your thumb and ring and pinky fingers (sorry lefties this is right handed only), it has a really soft rubber coating, smooth gliding action, and an ultra crisp scrolling wheel and button clicks. I tested the MM057 on PC and Mac, it was plug and play on both, which means you will be using your new mouse in seconds. I like to carry my laptop around with me throughout the day and the MM057 worked on every surface I put it on which allowed me to be truly mobile and move about how I wanted without having to carry around a mouse pad and worry about a flat surface, the MM057 will work on your jeans just fine if you are so inclined.
Another major plus is using a single AA battery as the power source, not only are these more common to find around the office/home than AAA but in my experience the AA tend to last longer in mice and you only need one versus the two you would usually need for AAA. There is convenient storage for the Micro USB receiver on the bottom of the mouse, so if you choose to unplug the receiver there is a safe place to store it so it does not get lost. The adaptor is a great size, it is slim-line enough to leave plugged in all the time, even when you need to carry your laptop around in your bag or briefcase without fear of it breaking off.

This is one of my favorite mice; I give it 5 out of 5 because it deserves it. It is a great mouse for a great price. I recommend them to friends and family, and VicTsing stands behind their products with a 12-month warranty. Buy with confidence, great product, great price, and fast shipping.

Although the movie speaks the truth through and through, it is not "in your face" or in any way boorish.
The refinement of the main character is sumptuous to watch. The grace and divinity of the actress is well expressed.
The hero is however, Karuppi, who has transcended the film beyond norm and has haunted the viewer's minds.

The director must be a pure soul artist to have orchestrated the screenplay so tastefully. Love the sublimity!
The film has made me more sensitive to the numerous subjugation mindlessly, yet irrevocably, exacted upon any form of "subordinates".
It certainly is worth your time in gold if you have any interest in understanding a hierarchy based society. Not a single scene, unfortunately is an exaggeration. True depiction of the life in rural Tamil Nadu. Kudos!

ALASKA BEAR Natural Silk Pillowcase, Hypoallergenic, 19 Momme, 600 Thread Count 100 Percent Mulberry Silk, Queen Size with Hidden Zipper (1, Ivory White)
I've been sleeping with this pillowcase for about a month now and really love it. No more waking up with a pillow crease on my face that takes hours to go away! I throw this in the washer with cold water washable and so far, so good. I'm really sensitive to smells & worried that this would have the silk smell to it but mine does not. I'm very happy with it and will buy another soon so that I have a spare. Iwas wondering about buying one for the husband but wondering if his scruff will ruin it. ??

***update one year later**** I do need to replace the pillow case. I wash it on gentle once a week in a garment bag because I want to clean as much oils from my face being on it as possible and hand washing it would not remove as much. I realize that this may wear it down sooner but it beats having acne from the pillow case not getting clean enough. So after a year of using it every day and washing on gentle in a garment bag, the silk has softened and ripped away from the zipper. I Dont blame the manufacturer and will be buying this exact one again. It really works and I no longer wake up with creases lining my face.

This foam border/base board came rolled up and it was definitely not brown as the picture showed. To me it seemed more copper colored. At first I did not like it and I was worried all the creases from being rolled up would show after putting it on. I used this baseboard to cover the bottom of the wall in a basement so I wasnt really worried about how it may look unless it was just horrible but after affixing this to the bottom of the wall the wrinkles in the foam just seemed to blend in with the design. It doesnt look bad on the wall but it isnt brown which is what I was looking for. I attached a picture of the actual color I received. Again this went on a basement wall so I wasnt too concerned with the look. I couldnt imagine using this stuff on like your living room wall or something. I dont think I would do that. It was fast and easy to affix which is what I was looking for.

For most features these lights deserve a 4 or 5 star rating. If your application calls for a steady-on display then these should be on the top of your list. Unfortunately, any other mode, although available by pushing the button, is not retained in memory as stated in the item description. Like most users, I have my lights on a timer and they always return to the steady-on. Unfortunately I cannot return them because after first checking out that they lit, not checking the memory function, I spent 3 hours putting them on a tree... so they will stay there. Bottom line: ONLY recommended if your application calls for steady-on lighting.
Orange Seal Cycling Tubeless Tire Sealant with Injection System
Orange Seal Cycling Tubeless Tire Sealant with Injection System
UPDATE: It's been over four months, and I have had zero problems, despite continuing to commute daily on the same route that was destroying my tires. In that time I have added air to my tires exactly once. Haven't needed to add any more of this product, still working great. I could not be more thrilled with how well this is working.

Original review:

I've never used a product like this before, and I haven't compared it with other comparable products. What I can say is, wow, this stuff really made a huge difference in my life. A month or so ago, my office moved and I started biking to work. Every day I would get a flat tire, or two, or more -- like the day I walked my bike the last bit in to work with a flat rear tire, changed the tube in the parking lot, reinflated it before going home, got a flat front tire going home, and saw the rear tire go flat again later that evening. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out what was going on. Maybe the tubes I'm buying are no good? Maybe there's a lot of glass or other sharp debris on the route I'm taking? Maybe I'm not changing the tire correctly? Could my tires be underinflated or overinflated? Am I getting the wrong kind of tube? Is there something sharp stuck in the tire? Long story short, now I don't have to care about the answers to any of those questions because after pumping an ounce or two of this stuff into two fresh tubes, I've had zero problems. In fact, last Friday I was riding home and noticed a weird sound that turned out to be made by a chunk of glass embedded in my front tire. I pulled it off and immediately heard the sound of air escaping. So I ignored it and kept going, and after a few seconds the air sound trailed off and stopped. Got home and checked the pressure and it was 100% fine, and continues to be fine. I haven't changed a tube at all since buying this stuff and using it once, and both tires are holding pressure very well. My bike is my main means of transportation to and from work, and it's also just about the only exercise I get, so it's really been a lifesaver for me. Plus I learned that Schrader valves have cores, and how to remove and replace one, I had no idea, I ended up using some largeish tweezers to unscrew the core and it worked great, much less intimidating than I thought, 100x easier than changing a tube even once let alone multiple times a day.
