Art & Science of Value Investing: Invest Like Billionaire Warren Buffett
Art & Science of Value Investing: Invest Like Billionaire Warren Buffett
My review...by Robert W. Johns.

I purchased this on kindle and it arrived on my device without any problem...

This book was fun and informative. I bought this to see how Mr Thompson thinks, as the
are few books available which are actually written by individuals working in Value investment
based money management, running other peoples money as such.

I have been a value investor for five years full time and was looking for something to fill some gaps
and as a reference point. This book simply delivers, the section on discounted cash flows would be
invaluable to someone just starting out in qualitative analysis and understanding future business cash flows.

Scott writes with a relaxed and honest candor, never becoming pretentious or overbearing. It is evident he
has a genuine passion for Value investing and this shows in the highly complementary description he gives
of famous Value investors.

These kind of things are what got me into this industry, the is a considerable amount of kindness, honesty
and integrity found in the famous past, present professional practitioners of this investment approach. No doubt
many other such individuals will be the same in the future. There's a good introduction to Scott's influences and sets
a nice theme for the book.

Sometimes even those with an excellent memory can benefit from reading what they may have forgotten in time and
this book is one of those great reference guides to keep you mind sharp. The author has an MBA and in many countries
it can be difficult to hold a relevant MBA and be a value investor just down to the practicality's of it all. Therefore his line
of thinking has been of a benefit to me.

All in all i definitely picked up a few golden nuggets throughout the text and some insights making the purchase worth while.
Most of the big ideas are well represented here and beginners would do well to read this book before the classics to get
a good framework for how the goal posts have changed with market efficiency.

This reviewer would be happy to see this text in a university coarse. Although
such a coarse would undoubtedly require more material. Value investing cant be taught in a
day but you can get the bug that fast!.

I had heard of Philip L. Carret, but not in detail. There is a section with a transcript on his personality and style. This was
the highlight of the book for me as he had an incredible money management record and i am interesting in learning more.

So i have withheld one star as customary for me. I only give 5 stars to a few people and those people are Ben Graham
, Charlie Munger and of coarse Warren Buffett. My only criticism is that the book contains many quotes. Who actually originally
said some of these things first i believe may have been in some instances lost to the hands of time. I may well be wrong
and this is simply nitpicking.

Wheels for the World: Henry Ford, His Company, and a Century of Progress
Wheels for the World: Henry Ford, His Company, and a Century of Progress
The first 2/3 of the book goes on about Henry Ford-the man- NOT the company. There is no true in-depth insight about the cars themselves. Then, the worst part of the book is in it's lightly skimmimg the waters of the postwar years. With the dramatic ideas of the Crestliner, the Victoria, the OHV V-8, the Lincoln Capri, the Skyliner glass-top, the Crown Victoria, the Skyliner Retractable hardtop, Lincoln Continental Mk. !!, the Edsel, the Falcon, the Mustang and Shelby Cobra; all are covered through very quickly, if at all, without the great details of the first 2/3rds of the book. At one point he succumbs to cutesy car songs, which completely let me down (he doesn't know his music any better than he does the '50s cars). The book was fairly good, but I was expecting SO MUCH better, especially on the postwar years.
Henry Ford's Lean Vision: Enduring Principles from the First Ford Motor Plant
Henry Ford's Lean Vision: Enduring Principles from the First Ford Motor Plant
I spend my days managing an industrial operation where Lean is the backbone of our shop floor and office processes. As with most lean practitioners, I read a great deal of the current lean literature. As a student of industrial history, I have read hundreds of books relating to the early 20th century manufacturers.

As a result, I was hopeful this book would offer a concise place to see early lean lessons. Most folks have some view of Ford. Those early lean lessons are often more acceptable for use in the US lean training. Over use of Japanese examples and terms can get in the way of learing lean.

I was disappointed in the book. The information presented is valid. It also is aligned with my own experiences and reading. However, the presentation and writing style made this a difficult book to read. The author seemed to want to add in the lessons of Chinese and Japanese thoughs. Those lessons seemed forced and broke up the rhythm of reading the book.

It is more of a personal preference, but the layout and style of the pages did not enhance the reading experience.

There is a great deal of underlying value in the material presented. If you choose to read this book, be prepared for a slog. It is a valid premise--poorly presented.

Love or hate the president, this novelty coin is beyond a conversation starter. You might just break up your family over it. Buy extras because people will take them from you with force. Being pragmatic, I got three, one for a supporter friend, one as a gag gift for an anti Trump friend and one as a social experiment. Have never seen so many people loose their **** in public before.

Never read such a worst book in my life ... not even worth Rs. 10 ... random quotations copy pasted to form a book with so less content that it can be read in an hour, no structure. Three Little Birds
Three Little Birds
My husband was having a tough day. With me being in the military we have been apart for the last couple of months, this is just the beginning of the next 3 years that we will be separated. There are certain songs that we love to listen to. A couple of them happen to be in this album. I sent him Three Little Birds to remind him that everything is going to be alright. He loved it. Whenever we listen to this song we think of each other. It was a great gift for no other reason than that I am thinking of him and the kids.
Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland
Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland
Perfect remake of the old german album sleeve. But it is a fantastic remasted cd as well. This is not a Shm-cd but it's the best sound quality i have ever heard any of the Jimi Hendrix stuff yet. I dont know if you will be able to tell a difference on a small stereo or in the car but on a big stereo system you can tell that there is a major difference in sound quality. But Japan has much better technology when it comes to mixing & mastering music and they also win on the digital transfer to the disc it self.
The Best of Bob Dylan Chord Songbook
The Best of Bob Dylan Chord Songbook
This is an excellent book in every respect: the chords are appropriate to each song - not something that you always get, all the verses are shown and you can therefore choose to play/sing them all or not. I admit to a tendency to use Byrd's variants at times e.g. Chimes of Freedom, All I Really Want to Do, Mr Tambourine Man. But then it can be fun to actually bash the whole song out as with one of my favourites Positively 4th Street, which needs all the verses to get Bob's full sarcasm and disdain towards the person concerned.

Some songs e.g. All Along The Watchtower have deceptively few chords but need a bit of practice with strumming - something that is not helped with here but is down to personal choice. I say that because Bob himself performs different versions of his own songs form one gig to another, by all accounts.

The capo positions are helpful and so are the slight tuning changes. At first the book, being the size it is does not easily stay open at a page but persevere and keep practising and the book will stay open. The fact that some songs are over more than 2 pages just adds to the incentive to learn the verses!

And you can appreciate again the amazing storytelling and. I heartily recommend this book as a never ending source of enjoyment and insight into Bob's songs. It is also amazing value for money.

Tripp Lite 375W Car Power Inverter with 2 Outlets, Auto Inverter, Ultra Compact (PV375)
Tripp Lite 375W Car Power Inverter with 2 Outlets, Auto Inverter, Ultra Compact (PV375)
I purchased this item in July of 2013. I have waited to review this item, because a expeditious review right after you receive an item can be misleading. There hasn't been sufficient time to really test and write an accurate review of the product, because one hasn't really used it to see how long it lasts or performs.

If you are looking to buy this product, I would suggest that you buy it. If it fits the requirements of what you need, then go for it. I have had this product since 2013 and I have not experience any issues. It remains in my car year round in extreme heat and cold, and it has never malfunctioned. I initially used it to power a printer in my car, but have since changed to using it to power a laptop. My work shifts of 10 hours and it functions flawlessly during my entire shift. I often charge my laptop and my cell phone simultaneously, with no issues. I like the feature where if it is going to be over powered then it shuts itself off to preserve the inverter, preventing damage ( I don't know all the technical electrical terms).

Bottom line is, this product works and has worked great since 2013. It has powered multiple things at once with no issues. I would suggest this product to anyone who is looking at it, if it meets your needs.
BCBGeneration Women's Eyelet Embroidered A-line Dress
BCBGeneration Women's Eyelet Embroidered A-line Dress
We needed an "emergency" white dress for an event after the original got lost in transit. This dress arrived and, while a little loose, saved the day. It's very slightly adjustable via the lacing under the arms. It's lined (hallelujah!) and the detailing at the hem is pretty. My daughter ended up loving it and when the original dress arrived at the last minute, she still opted to wear this BCBG dress. Younger sister is already eyeing it in the closet!
Walkable City Rules: 101 Steps to Making Better Places
Walkable City Rules: 101 Steps to Making Better Places
My city, Athens, GA, is in the process of putting in motion a plan to greatly enhance our pedestrian and biking infrastructure. I bought this book hoping it might give me some insights I might be able to offer my mayor and commission. I learned so much more about urban planning than I ever hoped. There's a lot more to making a city walkable than just putting in sidewalks! I first bought the audiobook version. It's read by the author and he does an excellent job. After listening to it all the way through, THREE TIMES, I also bought two copies of the paper version, one for me and one to give to my city commissioner. I refer to it with him regularly. I also went back and read Jeff Speck's older book, Walkable City. They compliment each other well, but as the author himself points out, the earlier book is more of a "Why" to make a city more walkable, and this one is more of a "How To" book. This book is a bit more of a coffee table type book, each "Rule" is only a few pages and most have illustrations, charts, or graphs. Its an easy and interesting read for a complex subject, and it even has a little humor sprinkled in.
Rubie's Men's Marvel Captain America: Civil War Deluxe Costume, X-Large
Rubie's Men's Marvel Captain America: Civil War Deluxe Costume, X-Large
I'm about 5'7" 190 lbs with a short stocky/athletic build and this costume fits very well. I thought most costumes would be meant for more tall and skinny guys, but this was definitely not the case. The muscle chest was ridiculous and just balled up in the middle, so once removed all that stuffing it looked really good! The mask and belt are pretty cheap, but the rest of the costume is well designed. I just need to ad velcro to the belt to make tighter and the back to pull together tighter, other than that I would highly recommend this costume, especially for the price!
Wild America
Wild America
I remember watching these shows on PBS in the 80s and I'm very happy to be able to watch them again with my kids.
These shows are entertaining and educational without going into a lot of the details I don't want my kids to see at a young age. It's one thing to talk about some cute little animal or another being a meat eater...quite another showing one catching and starting to eat while the other is still screaming.

Marty Stouffer brings a kind of "down-home country" feel to the images with his narration, but all the facts are accurate and well presented to go with the images.

I am very happy that Amazon has chosen to put this series on Prime streaming. I think it's great to be able to watch these beautiful, informative shows with my family.
Funko Marvel: Avengers 2 - Thor Bobble Head Action Figure
Funko Marvel: Avengers 2 - Thor Bobble Head Action Figure
We love our funko pops in our house and have recently started on our Avengers collection. Thor has great detail on him and the paint work was spot on true to his character. I do wish that he wasn't a bobble head as with kids around our bobble heads seen to be getting stretched out springs and wonky necks. As usual with amazon prime it was quick next day delivery and well packaged which is always a bonus.
Monopoly Game: Marvel Deadpool Edition
Monopoly Game: Marvel Deadpool Edition
This is my favorite monopoly so far. Probably ever!
If I could rate this 20 stars I would ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

There is a spot in the board called (low blow) when you land here, you now have the chance to steal a deed card (property) from one player, its a cool spot to land on if you need to complete a set and someone else has the deed card you need, or just useful if you’re trying to keep someone from completing a set. But whatch out though, its not so funny once someone else lands there and steals your deed cards lol

There is also an other spot on the board called (cheap shot) when you land here, the player with the least amount of money has to pay you $100! You can see how this is useful right? Well, if you’re going broke here’s $100 for you ☺️

These two spots in the board make the game super fun and not to mention when you collect the money once you land on free parking, players will have to “pay the pool” if landed on that space, money that has been paid to the pool will be placed at the center of the board and collected by the player who lands on free parking.

Such fun twist to the game. If you’re not a fan of monopoly because of the long hours it takes to play, this game will make time fly!

The longest game we have played with this board was 8 hours and i’m telling you we didnt even notice it felt like 30 minutes to us 😂
Ultimate Galactus Trilogy
Ultimate Galactus Trilogy
I can say for starters that this is WORLDs better than either the original campy Lee-Kirby story or the Fantastic Four 2 movie. Of course, if something like Galactus were headed for a world like the Ultimate Marvel Earth, all the heroes would be involved.

I thought the sense of doom was well-set up in the first two parts...HOWEVER the ending AKA "Ultimate Extinction", was a bit of a let down, for several reasons.

For one thing, we get a big storyline focusing on...Moondragon and Misty Knight??!?!!? Seriously, we have a world-wide threat, and no glimpse of Thor, The Black Widow, The Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, the Wasp or Quicksilver among the Ultimates - and they all could have and should have been lending a hand. How great would a fight between Thor and one of the Surfers have been? Certainly much better than a fight between Marvel D-listers Misty Knight and Moondragon.

Second, we barely see the X-Men, nor do we see half of the fantastic four. And there were plenty of villains for all of these missing heroes (and probably Spider-man too) to fight. One additional issue could have crammed that in and given us more action, both in NYC and in the desert.

Third - while Reed's idea for stopping Galactus was great, the writing of it was horrible. Seriously - a pre-big bang universe is NOT a ball of swirling gas, its a singularity, and Reed would certainly know that. Also, it seems a bit beyond conceited to have the vision say that no civilization among the thousands who have ever faced Galactus have ever defeated him - including races far more advanced than our own - yet Reed, by himself, without help from Tony Stark or Hank Pym or even Doom or Forge - comes up with a weapon to stop him in a matter of days? Really?

I could buy this IF we found out that other races HAD survived...say as with the classic Galactus tale, the surfer and or the Vision's people had struck a deal with Galactus to survive, or like the Skulls for thousands of years in mainstream Marvel, had managed to hide. But I have not gotten to th worst part:

That is the fact that after all of this, we are expected to believe that super-secretive Nick Fury simply GAVE the secret to this super-weapon, one that could theoretically destroy entire solar systems, to the Vision, so that the vision could deliver the specs to any and every civilization that might ever encounter Galactus. Really? You mean none of those civilizations will use such a weapon to conquer and kill others, including perhaps Earth? No Skrull or Kree would not want to use it as revenge? Galactus himself might not send his Surfers to take the information from the Vision? It boggles the imagination to think that SHIELD would just give something like this away and let an alien android leave the planet with it.

Finally, not enough action in the conclusion - which again, could have been solved by involving more Ultimates, X-men, etc in fights against more Surfers and Moondragon clones.
InuYasha, Vol. 13
InuYasha, Vol. 13
This volume has the rest of the Kikyou plot that was left off in book 12. It also has the third fight between Sesshomaru and Inuyasha where Inuyasha learns a new ability with his sword. Toutousai, who forged Tetsusaiga, appears in this book to bug Inuyasha and, of course, our favorite little toad, Jaken (note the sarcasm) appears as Sesshomaru's 'faithful' minion. [They] have gotten past this, so any American fans will know what's happening, but to true Inuyasha fans, you know that the manga has it's own special qualities (not to mention the differences in the manga and anime). I love it!
Expect Great Things: The Life and Search of Henry David Thoreau
Expect Great Things: The Life and Search of Henry David Thoreau
What makes this better than a biography is that it is written by another “ruminant walker” — a comrade in arms with Henry Thoreau. By the time I reached Chapter 2 of this book, I felt like I was reading Thoreau's Journals again, feeling the same sweet, contemplative mood as I accompanied Henry on his daily walks through the woods for 14 years. Looking at the cover artwork, featuring an artist's sketch of an old daguerreotype, it seems I'm looking into Kevin Dann's blue eyes. I followed Henry's walks through his native Concord, to Cape Cod, to Mt. Ktaadn in Maine, et al, reading about them about 150 years in the future. I followed Kevin's walk from Montreal past Lake Champlain to Brooklyn in real-time. How appropriate for one walker to document the life of another prominent walker. Henry documented the flora and fauna he encountered on his walks; Kevin documented the people and historical places on his walk. Pick up this book and join Kevin as he walks in Henry's footsteps and reports back to us on his progress through life. We know what Henry wrote; now we can begin to understand why he wrote.

In every book I read I look for the eponymous quote, the passage in which the book's title is revealed, and here is where I found it. Thoreau had just been surveying and found flowers he had never seen before in the area.

[[page 258] Owning that "a botanist's experience is full of coincidences," in that thinking about a flower never seen nearly always meant you would find it nearby someday, he turned his botanical experience into a general law of life: "In the long run, we find what we expect." We shall be fortunate then if we expect great things."]

Unfortunately, most people act as if they expect bad things to happen to them, and the universal rule still applies, namely, whatever you suppose is going to happen will likely happen to you. I gave this the form of a rule with an easy to say acronym, EAT-O-TWIST, which stands for Everything Allways Turns - Out - The Way It's Supposed To. When you find yourself supposing something bad might happen, you can quickly say the three-syllable phrase, eat-oh-twist, to remind you to change your own supposing. If you learn to apply this in your own thinking, you will drop every negative concept and replace it with a positive. For example, instead thinking this is going to be bad weather, you'll think we'll get some good weather where we live. If you study hypnosis, you learn that creating vivid images puts people into trance states. The word not cannot remove the negative image you create in your mind, for example, when you say, "This is not going to be a bad day for me." By the time you've thought that, some bad image will have been created in the form of an expectation. Saying, "This is going to be a good day" will create a better expectation. If you truly learn the power of expectation, you will agree with Thoreau that it is best to expect great things. Did Thoreau stop expecting great things for his book Walden when he was storing in a closet 500 unsold copies returned to him by his publisher? Given his statements above, we can predict that he expected great things to come from Walden, and that expectation led to great things, in its enormous popularity throughout the world and the salubrious effects it has had on so many lives.

Did Thoreau have a sense of humor? Not many biographers would notice that. But, yes, he did and admittedly a wry one such as in this story where he is confronted by farmers whose property he must cross for his surveying job. When one of them asked Thoreau if he were lost, not having seen him before on this land, Thoreau mused, "If the truth be known, and had it not been for betraying my secret, I might with more propriety have inquired, 'Are you not lost, as I have never seen you before?'" Who really owns the property but the one who walks it the most often?

Here is Henry's last entry in his Journal.

[[page 340, 341] He then turned to describing the storm of the previous evening and the long striations that the winds had left in the gravel along the railroad causeway. He gave the exact dimensions of the minute tracks: From behind each pebble projected a ridge an eighth of an inch high and an inch long. The very last line in this his very last journal entry reads: "All this is perfectly distinct to an observant eye and yet could easily pass unnoticed by most. Thus each wind is self-registering." With his last steps in life, Thoreau surely was leaving racks that could be made by no other man.]

Henry grew weak and asked Edmund Hosmer to stay the night with him.

[[page 342] The next morning, Sophia read to her brother the "Thursday" section of "A Week" and, anticipating the "Friday" section's description of the exhilarating return journey home, he murmured, "Now comes good sailing." At nine o'clock on the morning of May 6, Henry Thoreau set sail.]

Once more, as I did on Dec. 14, 2009 when I finished reading Volume 14 of his Journals, I am sad as I say Goodbye and Bon Voyage to my fellow traveler whose journey on the Earth ended some eighty years before mine began. I have read your long journals, your Walden, and have saved for later your other books, so that your memory, Henry, will never stay very far out of my consciousness and my soul. This is an excerpt from Bobby Matherne’s full review which can be read in DIGESTWORLD ISSUE DW#173.
Selected Lyric Poetry (Northwestern World Classics)
Selected Lyric Poetry (Northwestern World Classics)
I know this is supposed to be 'Russia's Shakespeare," but in translation it comes off more like Russia's Mother Goose, or Ogden Nash. It's really bad poetry in translation. Maybe it's one of those things that simply can't be done; but I can't help feeling it's a short-coming of the translator. There is extraordinary poetry in English that adheres to the strictest metrical requirements, from - well, Shakespeare onwards.
Either that, or Pushkin isn't very good...
Salem Season 1
Salem Season 1
Love the show but after reading that I'd have to pay nearly $30.00 for COPIES on DVD-R discs that are supposedly licensed by a legit company that is providing Amazon those that have the DVD-R description with the products title, I'll be just fine with my copies I made from TV. Same show, no extra fees and no artwork. It explains why it has no subtitles or is available in BluRay format. Apparently this legit copying company doesn't have the equipment or the license to offer BluRay. If I could, I'd open a store on here and sell all the titles that Amazon feels is acceptable to help the environment (what a crock!) and ask 2/3rds the price. Don't know what the heck is and has been going on with the video division of Amazon, but first Instsnt video seasons got changed to pay in full now, watch later. Then as of 4/15/15 instant videos stopped the ability to download what you buy or rent to your Tivo device. Now this insane thing about selling "legal bootlegs with artwork" as stated as follows copied directly from the Amazon explanation of the DVD-R On Demand Learn More link...

CD-Rs and DVD-Rs (the "R" stands for "recordable") look like the discs you're used to and offer the same audio and image quality. This recordable media is used to manufacture titles on demand, as fully authorized by the content provider.

Through manufacturing on demand, CreateSpace, part of the Amazon.com group of companies, enables Amazon.com to offer music and video content that might not otherwise be available. Each disc comes fully packaged, with artwork, in a standard jewel case for audio and an Amaray case for video, although for reissued products the artwork may differ from the original.

CreateSpace works with many of the leading music labels, television networks, film studios, and other distributors to make these titles available to Amazon.com customers. All products are manufactured from original source materials (e.g., for audio products, uncompressed CD-quality audio).

By eliminating inventory, waste, and inefficiencies in the distribution system, on-demand manufacturing provides the added benefit of helping preserve the environment.

When shopping, you'll see CD-R or DVD-R on the product detail page for such products. Amazon.com's standard return policy applies to these purchases."

Unbelievable to me and an insult at the high asking price for nothing more than copies of the same GD televised show minus commercials for $31.99?!?!

CASE OF THE QUEENLY CONTESTANT by ERLE STANLEY GARDNER Pocket PB 1967 1968 1st
CASE OF THE QUEENLY CONTESTANT by ERLE STANLEY GARDNER Pocket PB 1967 1968 1st
Erle Stanley Gardner's Perry Mason is faced with a particularly difficult challenge in "The Case of the Queenly Contestant." Especially duplicitous people, including his client, surround him as he tries to get to the bottom of a case involving a woman who may or may not have had the non-marital child of a now-wealthy (and presumably dead) business owner. The woman, Ellen Adair, was once a beauty contest winner who hoped to make it in Hollywood. That failed, though, and she ended up pregnant, she says, and unmarried. That's when she changed her identity and began a new life.
Now, twenty years later, Ellen seeks Mason's help as she tries to stay hidden. She is being pursued by a variety of formidable forces seeking to get to the truth of her past. At the heart of the case is a nurse who seems to be shopping her story to the highest bidder. The nurse soon turns up murdered, though, and Mason's client is the prime suspect.
This Perry Mason novel is slightly more involved than most of the others and about par for the course in terms of quality. Par, of course, is a high standard for Gardner, and "The Case of the Queenly Contestant" is entertaining and satisfying as a mystery and entertaining diversion.
Astro Boy Season 1
Astro Boy Season 1
This is an old Japanese cartoon character created around the 1950's and is in the manga series. It involves the creation of an asteroid, who is a machine with human qualities. The graphics in this video is old and lacks the luster of more current cartoons. Still, it had a very good theme and was about twenty minutes long.
My five year old boy found it very entertaining and enjoyable. He watched it twice and would probably stand to watch it again. The ending would lead into more stories in the future. I would recommend this to anyone who is into manga or old Japanese cartoons.
The 6th Target (Women's Murder Club)
The 6th Target (Women's Murder Club)
What a mind Mr Patterson has. central to his story is four crime busting women whose affection for one another is only superseded by the desire to bring the guilty to justice. I love the way his books are interconnected, one carefully leading into the next. He carefully back fills the present with the past like a long playing film. He personalises the characters in such a way that you feel part of the story. The tendrils that spread out from the core see us becoming familiar with their wider circle officer Pat Noonan, SCU good guy Charlie Clapper, Officers Cappy Mc Neil and Paul Chi . Great interaction from them all. In this one there is a ferry shooting, everyone sees the guy do it, he does not deny it, surely he'll go down. Don't count on it Patterson has a way of turning the tables on your thought processes, Poor Yuki finds herself in her new role as a prosecutor up against a previous allay. Could the sixth target finally bring justice for the victims. There's a kidnap to solve and a rogue killer on the loose at Cindy's new apartment block . Its safe to say Lindsay and Conklin are getting close maybe too close. Lindsay tries to connect with Joe following a surprise career blip and comes away devastated. I see trouble ahead and as much as I'm in love with Inspector Hottie myself I want it to work out for Lindsay and Joe. So enjoy the web of crime things have a way of coming together allowing Lindsay and her ace team to entice the criminals into making mistakes from which there is no escape.

The Art of Beatrix Potter
The Art of Beatrix Potter
There is only a tiny number of sketches in this book, many I have seen online already. The newer books have much better quality reproductions of her botanical paintings. There is very little writing in the book. It seems that the trust in charge of her work is very stingy with what they are willing to share in books on her work. Apparently the only way to see her work in any meaningful way is to get permission to view the originals where they are archived at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The Stars Below (Vega Jane, Book 4)
The Stars Below (Vega Jane, Book 4)
With every book, regardless of where he takes the reader, author David Baldacci is able to capture your attention, give you characters that are memorable and situations that allow you to wonder what you would do in similar situations. THE STARS BELOW, the final book in the Vega Jane series, gives you the same.

We're able to see how Vega Jane has been able to fight against evil, grow into herself and still navigate the "real world" problems of family and friends that all of us can relate to. In this book, however, the stakes are high and the cost of doing what is right is high. Will Vega Jane be able to carry out her assignment and live to see a world of light? That is what readers will be able to see as they take the journey along with her.

So many takeaways from this book, but for me the biggie is that it reminds us all (especially young readers) that they have purpose and the importance of walking in their power. If you do that then really anything is possible.

Spellbinding and addictive, THE STARS BELOW is the perfect ending to a series that has entertained and inspired so many.

Baron Trigault's Vengeance
As usual, Gaboriau spins an intricate tale of greed, passion, and desire out of tangled threads connecting to his other books about life in Paris in the 1800s.

I have read pretty much all his books at least twice. They are well worth the time.
Hope Along the Wind: The Life of Harry Hay
Hope Along the Wind: The Life of Harry Hay
It has been a while now since I have seen this wonderful film. It tells of sometime actor, sometime married man but always activist: Harry Hay. Hay is still little known beyond the LGBT community. Harry was a Gay activist when, in the US , there was really no such thing. With rare film footage, intelligent interviews, and insight this documentary superbly gives those of us who came afterwards a touching view of the man who set up the Mattachine society, Radical Faeries and was instrumental in finding a place in the world for those who are 'the third way'.
The Island of Dr. Moreau (Signet Classics)
The Island of Dr. Moreau (Signet Classics)
Prendick, the protagonist, is victim of a shipwreck. His ordeal starts there but never ends. After almost dying he is rescued by Montgomery, a sad man with secrets. In his weak state the small world of the ship is like a floating nightmare populated by doomed animals. The nightmare gets worse when he is left stranded in the island of the elusive doctor Moreau. Is like he never really gets to recover conscience or has just died and is into a hell made of creatures, an island where everything seems bound to fail. In the end (without giving spoilers of course), as it happens with any story in hell, even the horrors left us alone, without place to escape, to ourselves. I loved so much to read The Island of Doctor Moreau and I can recommend it effusively.

The horrors I felt reading this novel are in part due to our modern world. Viral videos of cruelty of today toward animals around the world give body to the descriptions of yesterday of the fictional experiments in the story. I don't know if contemporary readers of Wells felt the same, maybe yes: the characters are well developed and the events are told in a masterful way that it possibly felt gory and painful for them too. What Jonathan Swift tried to (unsuccessfully) express in his "Gulliver's Travels," that idea that civilization perhaps is not that human nor civilized, Wells gets to say it in a mature way. It doesn't feel preachy or resentful, just illuminating. Suddenly myself as a reader started to be conscious of my own monstrosity, my hands with bones and blood and nails grabbing the kindle, and recalled about the mystery that still today are islands to us.

About the AmazonClassics Edition this is an excellent edition. The formatting is professional, the typography is modern and both makes the experience of reading comfortable. There is the X-Ray function, which I did not use much here, as the book despite being set in an exotic geography, with exotic animals and medical and biological experimentation... actually is quite clear to read. The book is pure as the first day it was published, without introductions or studies to spoil the plot, only a short biography at the end. The only absence is the lack of the year of original publication, I don't know why. A minor detail that doesn't discourage me to recommend without reservation this edition.

WOW! Stuff Collection The Elder Light Painting Wand Wizarding World Albus Dumbledore Replica Screen Prop Toy
My 6 and 7 year old nephews JUST discovered Harry Potter. I've been a fan for years! I knew I had to get them an HP gift for Christmas. This wand was much more than I expected. The light was bright and the wands felt like great quality. They played so much with the wand I was worried they would break it or the light would die. So far, neither has happened. They haven't given me the opportunity to try the app because they will not let go of the wand so I don't have a review about that LOL but if it's half as great as the wands then...wow.
Cinereplicas Harry Potter Beanie Hat Knit Cap - Official
Cinereplicas Harry Potter Beanie Hat Knit Cap - Official
I don’t have a whole lot of hufflepuff items, and I am honestly not a fan of super bright yellow. After reading some reviews, I ordered this hat, and I am so pleased I did. It is comfortable, slouchy, and super soft. I’ve worn it all day, and it hasn’t gotten super hot like some beanies will if you wear them for a few hours or so. The patch is a little loose on the sides, but I think that’s normal. I’ve checked out the beanies at hot topic, and I have to say, it even beats those. I never heard of this company before, but this hat is awesome, and it came in a thick, resealable bag with harry potter written on it. I would highly recommend this beanie for any harry potter fan, especially since they come in all house colors! *note that this review is primarily for the slouchy hufflepuff beanie. For those who do not want the slouchy style, classic is also available.
Welcome to Dystopia: 45 Visions of What Lies Ahead
Welcome to Dystopia: 45 Visions of What Lies Ahead
When you love dystopian fiction it’s tough to resist a book that literally welcomes you to it. But then again maybe it would have been smart to exercise some caution…because this isn’t quite the sort of dystopia I enjoy. For one thing it’s set predominantly in near present or immediate future. For another it’s all one note, one theme…a nightmarish interpretation of the current US politics. And I’m not saying the world doesn’t need to be warned or cautioned of frightened about the situation. I’m not saying the future isn’t looking scary and bleak. I’m just saying that maybe a 400 page anthology (ok, not any, this particular one) on it was in a way an overkill. Scenario after a nightmarish scenario it spins distinctly plausible realities into existence and the thing is...it isn’t necessary. Reading the news these days is enough. Any functional brain with any degree of imagination can already take you there. I always thought that fiction should do more, fiction should imagine possibilities in a way you can’t or don’t, using allegories and metaphors and clever speculative constructs…and this book has nearly none of it. It just plows on with all the subtlety of a freight train into every easily predictable possibility of a near totalitarian dictatorship. It’s alarmists reading news and producing worst case scenarios. It may be prove to be presciently accurate, it’s certainly timely, but what is it meant to do. It isn’t that entertaining as a book, monotone as it is, and I don’t believe it’ll suddenly charge passive society into streaming into thinking and (gasp) voting intelligently any time soon. So it just seemed like a bunch of authors exorcising their demons by creating what republicans (although I can’t imagine any republican reading this one) might refer to as liberal propaganda. Think of any dystopian book of worth that has withstood the test of time and it probably does feature all those allegories and metaphors and clever speculative constructs this book barely ever tries for. These dystopias, sincere as well intentioned as they may be, don’t get there. At best they coast on a sort of recognition/awareness of a sh*tty situation and subsequent and oh so appropriate depression. If you were at a bar trying to drink yourself into oblivion, they’d match you pint for pint and probably actually pass out before you. Entertainment value alone won’t sell it to classic dystopia fans. Some known names, mostly unknown ones. Read it if your friends don’t care for your ideas and aren’t as disgusted and terrified by modern politics as much as they really should be.

This bag has almost everything required of a travel tote - multiple interior and exterior pockets, huge capacity, zip top, stability, durability. The major bone of contention is the handles - they are folded over/doubled and sewn at the top of handle where it sits on the shoulder. I really don't understand the purpose of this because now all the weight is concentrated in a smaller, harder surface area that is super uncomfortable on the shoulder. The search for the perfect tote continues...

URBNFit Mini Pilates Ball - Small Exercise Ball for Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Physical Therapy, Stretching and Core Fitness - Includes Mini Stability Ball Workout Guide
Waste of money. Very disappointing. Will be returning if possible. I am not sure how this product ever got any good reviews. As many other reviews mention, this ball doesn't retain air! This is mainly because it's hard to put the plastic stopper in place in time to trap the air. I tried blowing it up with my own lung power and with an electric air pump - both times I could get the ball to an appropriate firmess, but it would immediately deflate significantly no matter how quickly I put the plastic stopper in place. The air hole needs to have some sort of valve in place to create a better seal and trap escaping air. It also was unclear how firm the ball should really be when fully inflated. Some of the illustrations enclosed showed the ball as an oval when performing exercises - presumably under the weight of the person - but I was seeking a firm ball like a normal semi-rigid yoga ball that would maintain a circle - for rounded support with weight on it. This ball doesn't seem capable of that, it becomes oval and misshapen quickly. It also deflated completely when left for 8 hours so it would need to be blown up each time it is used. The description says it can support 600 lbs, but I didn't dare put even my full 140 lbs on it, because it seemed like the plastic stopper would pop out with any pressure and instantly deflate and cause injury to anyone applying weight to it. Horrible product.
Course Design Formula: How to Teach Anything to Anyone Online
Course Design Formula: How to Teach Anything to Anyone Online
Really informative and helpful, but kind of an overwhelming amount of information. The reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of five is because it is just so long-winded. It’s slightly contradicts the whole message of the book actually, which is to present all your course information in small tidbits so the human brain can process it better. But there is just so much in so many large chunks and not all the information is necessary. For example, the introduction takes up more than 10% of the book! After I devoted so much time reading and trying to comprehend everything, the author says “now let’s get started!”

That being said, it’s still extremely informative and definitely worth reading. The author is obviously an expert on the subject. I was very impressed with her wealth of knowledge in so many different aspects of learning, psychology, and education. And I think that is part of the reason it is so overwhelming. She knows so much about the subject it’s hard to wrap your brain around it if you don’t already know a lot of what she talks about. If you are designing an online course, this is a must read, just be prepared to skim or skip some of the sections.

I recommend going through and highlighting and bookmarking the areas you can get the most benefit from. I did that, and now I’m revisiting the book a second time. I’m going through it much faster now and retaining even more information now that I’ve pulled out the chunks that were helpful for me.

5 in 1 Wireless Charging Station for Apple Watch 6 Airpods Pro, Xperg 30W Fast Wireless Charger Stand Dock Compatible with iPhone 11 12 Pro Max SE Xr X Xs Max/iWatch/Qi-Certified Phones
Pros:
1) fast charging
2) can charge 2 phones, 1 Apple Watch, and airpods at the same time.
3) One additional USB A port In the back for a 5th device if you need to charge another item
4 clutter free
5) folds flat and can be adjusted to 3 different angle for primary phone charger.

Cons:
1) doesn’t come with fast charging (Qx3.0 ) adapter

This multi device charger works really well. It charges multiple device fast, is light weight and Make your desk or night stand clutter free from having multiple charge cables.

The charger comes with 1 USB C cable (you will need a QC adapter purchase separately) to power up the charger. The watch charger is built in so you won’t need to loop your Apple Watch charger into the charge stand like most other chargers out there.

I just bought an 18W QC3.0 to use with this and it works great. I don’t have 2 cell phone, so can’t tell yah how well charging both phone at the same time is.

If you’re in need of a multi use charger that is light weight, capable of travel and works good, give this one a try. I like this one the most of all the one I’ve tried.

Supsoo - Cadena de luz solar de 20 pies 30 LED de cristal impermeable con cadena de luces para 8 modos de iluminación para patio, césped, jardín, boda, fiesta, decoraciones de Navidad (multicolor)
Our little 1950’s bungalow doesn’t have any exterior electrical outlets, so when our first Christmas here rolled around, lighting up the house posed a challenge. We were delighted to find these solar powered Christmas lights. They came already charged, which was a nice surprise. They are not quite as bright as the plug-in lights we’ve used in the past, but they are pretty nonetheless.

We needed three strands to cover the front of our little house. It was a small challenge to get the three strands on the same blink/color setting at the same time. Also, the distance of cord from the last bulb to the solar panel is not long enough to reach the ground in order to stake it. However, we were able to secure the panels on the roof instead.

Finally, winter is very rainy where we live, so there were some days when there wasn’t enough sun to provide a full charge. Not a big deal to me, but if you live in a neighborhood with high expectations and not a lot of sunlight in the winter, you might want to stick with plug-in lights.

Controlador para PS4 controlador inalámbrico para Playstation 4 – OUBANG PS4 mando a distancia con cable de carga, buena opción en PS4 Game Joystick regalo para Navidad, Brithday (Ruby)
After searching for a little while on Amazon for a replacement controller I found this Oubang controller. I really enjoy the color layout and not only that a pot of tie dyed joystick covers for my right and left joysticks. For the price I feel like it’s jusg as high of a quality of the more expensive controllers. The only issue I found is the battery life is a little less than a standard controller but it’s not enough of a difference to not buy the controller. Once again I am fully satisfied with this product and recommend it for all gamers alike.
Minnetonka Men's Twin Gore Sheepskin Slippers
Minnetonka Men's Twin Gore Sheepskin Slippers
I have tried several brands of slippers some costing more than twice as these and they are either too tight (have a EE foot) or they came apart in less than six months. These were close to a perfect fit except for rubbing the fifth toe on the right too much. I had hoped with time they would stretch but have not after nearly three months and almost daily use. They are my house shoes. The softness which you feel the first time you put them on is lost over time. Due to their growing tightness, I often wear them without the backs up - like clogs. This makes them more comfortable but also makes them more likely to slip off when walking or even sitting in a chair with your legs up. They appear to be well made. No defects along the seams to date. They maintain their original color as well. Yet, I am still in search for something better. Yet I do recommend them to individuals without a wide foot. Rate: B

This came with two basically like rugs not what I actually thought it was I thought there was gonna be like I don’t know I stretch thing or some thing over it so I could just use it as a seat cover but nevertheless I love it and it ended up working out for the best because I used one on my chair for my vanity and the second one I was able to put on a vanity stool stool which I am using as an ottoman in the set looks awesome together

VIVO Kneeling Chair with Wheels, Adjustable Ergonomic Stool for Home and Office, Mobile Angled Posture Seat, Steel Frame & Black Cushions, CHAIR-K05B
I've been working in an office for 11 years, and all of the sitting and horrible posture had finally caught up to me. In an effort not to run the dozens of chiropractic and therapy sessions I've had to do, I've been making changes to my work area to maximize comfort and not hurt my back and hips any further.

I chose this specific chair bc of the price point, and bc I had read multiple other reviews stating that having two separate pieces for the knee rests was more ideal.

I'm 5'4" and the adjustments on the chair seen to be just fine. The biggest negative is the quality and amount of cushioning in both the seat and knees. It does not take long before my knees start to ache and my butt gets uncomfortable.

Please don't buy it.

It's not a quality mobile, it just like Redmi Note 4. No special features added in Redmi Note 9 Pro Max which can be differentiate with Note 4. Battery is not so good, it doesn't retain power long time. Other company's mobile are giving some special technology like Samsung M31 (6000 mah battery, Amoled Screen, sony camera lense and so many features) in lesser price. It is not a value for money, not a good product. Why the company has fixed so high price? The answer I would like to know
from company. After purchasing it feel nothing worthy with the set because I am still using Redmi note 4. Just looting with custom in the Covid 19 pandemic situation. No discount isoffered in credit card nor no cost EMI nor Exchange in flash sale. In the name of flash sale seller makes fool to us. This is my personal experience and opinion. If any body hurts, I feel sorry, but I revealed the truth.

You can get far better mobile with this price of ₹18, 500. Its a cheating with the customer because price is high but no quality improvement in comparison with Redmi Note 4. I feel better Redmi note 4 with lesser price than 9 Pro Max.

Das Set beinhaltet alles, was man braucht.

Oreck ProShield Plus Air Purifier
Oreck ProShield Plus Air Purifier
I love my Oreck air purifiers. These days, they seem obsolete and I really wanted another one. So, I paid the big bucks and bought this one, because I already have one and know how fantastic it is. I currently run 4 Oreck air purifiers in my home and they are super great for cleaning the air in my home. If my house gets filled with smoke from backyard pit fires or wildfires, I can close my house windows and run my purifiers on high and clean all the smoke out of my home and give myself fresh air to breath. I also use one in my kitchen, for helping with cooking smells, since I don't have a proper hood fan that vents outside. I could not survive without these air purifiers and I can't understand why they are no longer available. If I can, I will buy another one, before it goes off the market completely.
ECO resolver
ECO resolver
I've been using Eco-Solve for about two years now, and absolutely love it. I won't use anything else. For years, I used turps & solvents that gave me headaches or made me nauseated. When I discovered Eco-Solve a couple of years ago, I gave it a try and loved it. Now I make sure I always keep some on hand.

I find that it is a little more potent than some other solvents. Cleans brushes very well; although I mostly use walnut oil to clean my brushes, then I finish off with Eco-Solve. I've never seen it ruin any brushes, but it did eat through the paint of the handle from a cheap-brand brush. Other than that, no ruining brushes. And yes, if you get some on the label of its container, it will wash out the ink.

Like I said, it is somewhat potent. But on the other hand, it will not harm the painting. It works wonderfully for washes of oil color and it dries pretty fast. I keep some for cleaning brushes between color changes and some for thinning paints or making medium mixes. It can be used in anyway like other solvents.

I would be careful, though, not to use too much at once. I had it eat through the bottom layer of a painting once. That was my fault for using too much and not being careful. But once it dried, I was able to fix it.

I keep some in plastic bottles...no issues there; it has not eaten through the plastic. I keep silicone pucks in my brush cleaning container filled with Eco-Solve. At first I thought it would eat up the pucks, but after two years, no signs of deterioration.

I've had it on my skin with no irritation or harm. I know some people complaint about the scent, but I find it rather pleasing. It has a pleasant smell of anise or liquorice. Does not give me headaches or make me nauseated. Even though it is non-toxic, plant-based and vegan, I don't recommend ingesting it.

So, anyway, thought I share my thoughts on this product. I see some reviews go from one extreme to the other, from the best to the worst. I think the best way to find out if you like this product or not is to give it a try and make your own judgement on it.
