Japanese: The Spoken Language, Part 3 - Supplement: Japanese Typescript
Japanese: The Spoken Language, Part 3 - Supplement: Japanese Typescript
Jorden comes from a unique background as she was tought at Yale by one of America's most distinguished linguists who himself discovered some aspects of the Japanese language that even the Japanese didn't know and are only now acknowledging.
I am not much of a linguist myself but I can tell you that I and everyone in my class learned from this book what no other series can give you: a thorough understanging of the Japanese language.
I have been studying for many years now and have not found a better source yet. Just read each lesson, use the video or cassete tapes to drill on understanding and rapid reponse. The very inexpensive teachers suppliment contains all the drills and conversations in native japanese (for the guy that didn't know this)
Also, the written language is a seperate book but you don't have to use it. Of course from day one in class we began learning the kana as well and then the kanji but to learn the kanji from lesson 1? That would be too difficult because the book is in order of most usefull words, not most easy to write words. The offical system is more like kana and eaiser to see how the conjugations work where as the Hepburn system has too many unnecessary rules you have to learn to make it work. In Jorden's book, you quickly get used to the offical system and I wouldn't have it any other way. It also has helpful pitch markings to remind you how to nautrally shape the sentences until it becomes rote.
I cannot say enough good things about this series, it doesn't take you all the way to being fluent of course but by the time you get though the 3rd book, I gaurantee you will be able to understand what people are saying to you and be able to respond right away in real world situations.
Bottom line, these books work and is part of a whole system of videos, audio tapes, drills, writing, reading, and listening practice that will make you an expert on Japanese that puts all other books to shame.

Enjoyable read for any person interested in learning about how to become successful in business and life. Focus is on 10 billionaires who have made their fortune in a variety of different endeavors, but all share similar qualities and principles of success. In particular I liked reading about Elon Musk, as he is an inspiration to me as he started Tesla and Solar City, and is a real visionary and leader. Overall very interesting read and well written. Highly recommend.
Driven: A Photobiography of Henry Ford (Photobiographies)
Driven: A Photobiography of Henry Ford (Photobiographies)
Henry Ford was one of those youngsters who was fascinated by anything that ticked. He was simply obsessed by the mechanical workings of pocket watches or windup toys and his brothers and sisters had to be on the lookout or he would have them apart trying to figure out how they worked. There was one thing that separated him from most in that he "usually could put them back together again." The obsession with anything mechanical never waned. Not long after his mother was lost in childbirth, a devastating loss for such a young man, twelve-year-old Henry spotted "A steam engine [that] was traveling along the road under its own power." This amazing sight was more than enough to capture his imagination for a lifetime.

Later, when he invented his quadricycle, people simply considered him to be an odd duck and called him "Crazy Henry." He was far from crazy and many others were amazed by his talents. He was having trouble breaking into the automobile industry, but while others were experimenting with an electrical "horseless carriage," he was experimenting with a gas-powered vehicle. When this was pointed out to Thomas Edison, a lifetime friendship was born when he shouted out, "Young man, that's the thing: you have it. Keep at it . . . Your car is self-contained--it carries its own power plant--no fire, no boiler, no smoke and no steam. You have the thing. Keep at it." And that he did.

In this book you will get a glimpse at the life of a man who was determined that the automobile would shift from being a "luxury item for the well-to-do to a necessity for the average American." You'll learn about his family life, the formation of his company, the manufacture of the Model T, the creation of the innovative assembly line, how he shared his good fortune with his employees (the $5.00 day), you'll learn about his "Peace Ship," his brief political career, his commitment to the "broader community," his pacifism, his biases, and much more. Did you know that he hired African American during "a time of great racial discrimination?"

This is an excellent photobiography of Henry Ford, a man who "believed in equal opportunity" long before it was popular. It will not take long for the reader to become totally immersed in this excellent biography. There are numerous photographs, many that I've never seen, that simply speak for themselves. The amazing advances in technology began with the likes of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, two close friends who challenged each other with their work. This biography not only gives an overview of Henry's "automobile" life, but also gives the reader a feel for his personality. In the back of the book is an index and additional recommended book and web site resources to explore.
Pull My Finger Farting Donald Trump Plush Figure Doll -With Animated Hair-10.5 Inches Tall
Pull My Finger Farting Donald Trump Plush Figure Doll -With Animated Hair-10.5 Inches Tall
I got this as a gag gift for my dad for Father's Day. He's in his 60's and has everything a person could need so I have to get creative with his gifts. Needless to say, this was a big hit with him and all of the grandkids. After squeezing his index finger, you'll hear a farting noise. His wig/hair rises up and he says one of several phrases. Some of the best ones were, "Take that Putin", "That fart was made in China", "That wasn't me, it was ISIS", and "That's what I call a twoot. Trademarked". The attention to detail is spot on. The tan skin/white eyes, signature red necktie, and fluffy hair really takes the doll to the next level. The best part of the entire gift exchange was my dad sternly telling my daughters, "I'm leaving now. Gimme back my doll!" It was spontaneous and hysterical. I highly recommend to any trump fan or foe.
Think BIG and Kick Ass in Business and Life
Think BIG and Kick Ass in Business and Life
The Art of the Deal".

Gerne in Englisch. Aber vielleicht kommt das ja noch ...

Fazit:

DANKE.

Fat Shark FSV1816 - Powershark 2 Cell 18650 USB Charger/Power Bank Case
Fat Shark FSV1816 - Powershark 2 Cell 18650 USB Charger/Power Bank Case
Over the past few years I've swapped out all my flashlights and lanterns for LED versions that use 18650 batteries. So this device serves a dual purpose. It rides in my truck and keeps a spare set of flashlight batteries charged. Then it goes on trips to charge my phone. I have not yet attempted to fully charge my phone from a depleted state, but when attached, my Moto g6 says "charging rapidly."

Edit: After a few months use, I'm knocking off a star. On the positive side, I now use it to power a new LabRadar chronograph and it works well for that. But there are two negatives. One of my lights requires button top batteries and they don't fit without serious force, to the point where I'm afraid I'll break the unit. The second negative is that the micro usb port is a sloppy fit, so that I can't recharge batteries while driving because the cord keeps falling out.
Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine
Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine
Spidey and Logan are somehow in the Jurassic era! What the heck is going on here!? And THEN they're in the future where lots of mini-Logans run the world? What the heck! And THEN they're in the super future and the middle ages and THEN...

So it's a time travel story with two of Marvel's best loved characters, the chatty and pun-ny web slinger teamed up with the angry monosyllabic Canuck with an almighty chip on his shoulder, having at each other as they try to figure out what's going on.

I think if you approach this book as simply a fun, sometimes even funny, story with lots of interesting visuals and some excellent back-and-forths between Spiderman and Wolverine, you'll get more out of it. It's not really a straight story nor one with a particularly interesting explanation or resolution. Spidey sums it all up in the end by saying "sometimes stuff just happens...". And that's what this book is, stuff that happens.

But it's entertaining stuff at least. Jason Aaron's grittiness and sobriety is missing thanks to having to adopt Peter Parker's genial outlook on life and he's got his voice down perfect, as he does Logan's. To be honest, the story felt a bit overlong once you realised what was happening, but it never became unbearable. Adam Kubert's artwork is fantastic throughout, as always.

A fun romp teaming up two mis-matched but still endearing characters and setting them loose into a bizarre, but interesting, story. A decent read but by no means essential.
Game of Thrones - Season 8
Game of Thrones - Season 8

Otter MOMO Girls Sandals Open Toe Princess Flat Sandals with Ruffle Summer Sandals (Toddler/Little Kid)
Otter MOMO Girls Sandals Open Toe Princess Flat Sandals with Ruffle Summer Sandals (Toddler/Little Kid)
In love with these sandals. Because of the quality and comfort and also because of my daughter's reaction to them. Since she turned one she was picky with her shoes and also was always after my red shoes since she learned how to get into my closet. When these arrived she was sold. She literally strutted around in them stomped and kept looking at her feet saying "wow, I love". She is two! lol They are our summer, slip on and go shoes, so easy to put on and have velcro on the sides. When I dress her up, I still let and expect her to be toddler and behave like one. I let her get wet (sprinkler, water table etc), dirty and sandy. After three weeks of getting wet, filled with sand in a sand box and she jumped in puddles quite a bit, they still look great and holding up. They clean well, the photo you see are the shoes after two weeks of such use ( I cleaned the of course after each messy encounter). I highly recommend and will buy again.
Mike Hammer: Complex 90
Mike Hammer: Complex 90
Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins' newest `collaboration' is a great read. Nobody makes this look easier than Mickey and no one can polish/finish like Max. This will go down in history as one of the great literary collaborations.

Complex 90 is set in the cold war--Mike Hammer meets (and defeats) the commies. The book's greatest one-liner (adopted as a tagline as part of the jacket notes): "They can't torture you if you kill them first."

For some reason or other (a point that will prove crucial to the plot), Mike has been asked to serve as a body guard for an American senator, taking a self-financed fact-finding tour of Moscow. When Mike is picked up on the Moscow streets and hustled off to a local prison for interrogation (for no apparent reason) the plot begins in earnest. Mike exits the prison (stepping through the blood and over the bodies) and wends his way through eastern Europe, escaping on an American troop plane in Turkey. There are forty-five bodies in his wake.

This constitutes the first act of the novel and does not occupy as much space as one might expect. The real story then transpires in New York. What was really going on here? Why was Mike selected to accompany the senator? Who was behind that? Why was he abducted?

On the one hand there is a blast from the past--spies and ne'er-do-wells who have tangled both with Mike and with Velda (herself a spy for a time, remember) are still around and hungry for revenge. There is also a scientific study under way, one which will give a decided advantage in the space race. Are the russkies working with an American traitor?

The book is effortless in its silky-smooth plot. No one plots with the ease and finesse of Mickey. At the same time, we have delicious representations of Moscow and, of course, New York. Velda is there for much of the book; Pat Chambers puts in an appearance and a number of lovelies throw themselves and their ample flesh at Mike. This is one of the sexier of the Spillane/Collins collaborations.

The ending is satisfying, the violence is satisfying and, as always, Mike is satisfying. The heart of the book, he remains his unreconstructed, old-fashioned self. A warrior in the Pacific during WWII, he is the ultimate survivor. He eats slabs of prime rib, hefts weighty .45's, eschews political correctness and draws women the way flames draw moths. Chandler said that the protagonist in these kinds of book is everything. The lesson was never lost on Mickey.

Highly recommended. Enjoy.
The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis (January 02,2008)
The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis (January 02,2008)
The other reviews are of C.S. Lewis's book "The Last Battle." If you are not familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia, then it might be helpful to read those reviews. If you're familiar with the series, read on to hear what we think about the radio dramas!
We own all of Focus on the Family's Narnia Dramas that have been published to date (Sept 2002, and the Last Battle is next/last to be published in Oct 2002). We LOVE them all! Our son is 3 yrs old, and he will sit through almost an entire CD (all of the dramas are 2-3 CDs each), listening to the adventure! It's a great way to get him involved in the world of Narnia, and a wonderful alternative to T.V. One of the things that my husband and I enjoy about the series is that it is also captivating to adults. The actors are all British (as was C.S. Lewis), with an introduction by Douglas Gresham, Lewis's stepson. The actors maintain their roles throughout the series; for instance, the actor who plays the role of Eustace in "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is the same actor who plays that role in "The Silver Chair;" the actor who plays the role of Aslan is the same in all the dramas. In a presentation that has many characters, it's helpful to be able to recognize the voices from one CD to the next.
We HIGHLY recommend all the CDs in this series. They're a great way to pass the time on car trips, and a wonderful way to encourage a child's (or an adult's!) imagination. They are wholesome, and have a clear message that good will prevail over evil, and that love and forgiveness are qualities to be cherished. Buy the whole series!
