Node.js, MongoDB and Angular Web Development (Developer's Library)
Node.js, MongoDB and Angular Web Development (Developer's Library)
I purchased this book based on some reviews I found online recommending this book. I wish I had read the two previous customer review on Amazon before I bought this. As noted in another review, much of the text is copy and paste between sections.

More importantly this book mainly describes sections of modules in the MEAN stack. But after getting half way through it I had not developed enough of an understanding of the content to even begin to know how to put it all together. The instructions for how to use MongoDB, were designed for either Linux or MacOS. I could not get the instructions to work under Windows. After spending an hour on this, I had to resort to online help to get the author's example to work.

In the end I found a different book much more helpful. Write Modern Web Apps with the MEAN Stack: Mongo, Express, AngularJS, and Node.js (Develop and Design). While this one was a few years old, it explained things much more concisely.

TypeScript in Plain Language Volume I: A Comprehensive Starting Up Guide For Complete Beginners (Teach-Yourself To Program Book 2)
I've never programmed in JavaScript, or TypeScript, and this is my first book. It gave me what I needed to get rolling, I come from a C# / Java background. (I didn't finish the book, once I got the basic concepts, I started working)

These are my notes, maybe they'll help others:

If you use just numbers in your emun in quotes, for example leaving off the dollar sign, you will get the error "An enum member cannot have a numeric name". According to the developers "This is to prevent collisions in the reverse map. Note that quoted names and unquoted names behave the same in terms of object keys."

Location 761:
The == operator will compare for equality after doing any necessary type conversions. The === operator will not do the conversion, so if two values are not the same type === will simply return false. This is why you should always use the triple compares.

Double Equal Sign compare issue examples:
'' == '0' // false
0 == '' // true
0 == '0' // true
false == 'false' // false
false == '0' // true
false == undefined // false
false == null // false
null == undefined // true

Location 903:
The code example in the book is wrong. The else if line should read "else if(time <18){" to meet the parameters of the exercise.

Location 927:
The code example in the screen shot is wrong. It should read time < 12? alert("Good Morning!") : time <18 ? alert("Good Afternoon!") : alert("Good Evening!")

Complimenti.
Think, Act, and Invest Like Warren Buffett: The Winning Strategy to Help You Achieve Your Financial and Life Goals
Think, Act, and Invest Like Warren Buffett: The Winning Strategy to Help You Achieve Your Financial and Life Goals
I've read 9 of Larry Swedroe's 12 books, and every one was filled with valuable information from front to back. His latest, "Think, Act, and Invest Like Warren Buffett", is no exception. Larry shares conclusive evidence that backs up Warren Buffett's own recommendation that "by periodically investing in an index fund the know-nothing investor can actually outperform most investment professionals". While it's not impossible for actively managed funds to outperform passively managed index funds, Larry demonstrates that it is unwise to try your luck with actively managed. Larry also covers the importance of a well-rounded financial plan that takes into account your willingness, need, and ability to take an appropriate level of risk for your unique situation. He then takes the reader through various investment portfolio building blocks, as well as portfolio maintenance techniques and tips on working with financial advisors. Toward the end of the book he wraps it all together with his 30 rules of prudent investing, all concisely written and absolutely correct.

Larry Swedroe is a very knowledgeable finance expert, he's tremendously gifted with the written word, and he is a champion of individual investors everywhere. His writing distills key takeaways from the last 60 years of finance research into easily understandable prose. My recommendation: pick up a copy of this easy-to-read book and follow its guidelines for decades to come. You'll be glad you did.
Dividend Investing Made Easy
Dividend Investing Made Easy
I purchased this book thinking that there might be some content of interest to a person when considering investing in stocks for their dividend yield. Unfortunately, what I found was some extremely basic investment advice that was simplified to the point of being misleading (e.g., attributing dividend returns to the growth in value of a portfolio that was almost certainly driven quite substantially by capital appreciation). There was almost no discussion at all of portfolio construction beyond picking either an ETF or a handful of the "dividend aristocrats". The author explains some basic investing concepts like dollar cost averaging, but there is nothing in this book which makes it worth the price tag. The Investopedia page on "Introduction to Dividends" actually contains more information about how dividends work than this book. If your investing knowledge is at the level where this book is actually helpful for you, you would be better served with a general book on investing rather than one targeted specifically toward dividend stocks.

On top of all this, the author uses large font with lots of white space on the page in order to inflate the page count (as well as a large section full of ads for other books). It took me about 30-45 minutes to read through the whole thing, and I'm usually a slow reader.
Mastermind Group Blueprint
Mastermind Group Blueprint
Excellent book. I'm almost sorry I read it after reading several other books on the topic of mastermind groups. It was a quick read for me (probably because I was already quite familiar with the concept) It was concise but thorough. It was the best book of the bunch on marketing and monetizing. I would definitely buy this book if I were interested in a business mastermind group and being a paid facilitator. I also read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Meet and Grow Rich by Joe Vitale and Bill Hibbler, Profit from the Power of Many by Natalie Brecher and Teamworks by Barbara Sher. My personal favorite is Barbara Sher's Teamworks. But her emphasis is not on business mastermind groups. Her emphasis is on forming mutual-support success teams for achieving personal goals without a paid facilitator. But most of her concepts are applicable to a business group. Well done, Tobe Brockner!
Every Tool's a Hammer: Life Is What You Make It
Every Tool's a Hammer: Life Is What You Make It
I, like many people have enjoyed (to an extent) Mythbusters and of course therefore know who Adam Savage is or rather who his media image is.

Because of that I bought this book on a whim and because of the glowing reviews. Mainly that he is an extraordinary maker of models and other things.

Well, I'm always interested in learning more from highly skilled people who can create something at the very least interesting.

But, there's a 'But.'

I'm an old school marine engineer - an ex Chief Engineer - and I work in the oil industry in offshore construction. I've built houses and have two workshops. My grandfather was a tool-maker and my uncle a fitter and turner in a shipyard. In fact my entire family for generations have been people who worked in heavy industry making things like ships, turbines and precision tools. It's in my blood.

And because of that I'm fascinated by the new wave of what I'm beginning to think of as a bit wishy, washy 'makers' movement.

We used to call it DIY or model making and the people who did it created steam engines, made train layouts, model boats or made incredible bits of furniture. Today to be called a 'maker' you pour a bit of multi-coloured paint on a spinning disc or knock out yet another Damascus knife.

What I'm getting to is that what I consider a 'maker' and what many of the new movement consider it to be are two different things. And that's where this book to me is a bit 'wet.'

I was hoping to learn a bit more about Adam and find out more about his work on movies. And, whilst there is some of that, much of this book is padding and revolves around the modern idea of what a 'maker' is.

To me a maker is someone who can do complicated stuff on machine tools or use a woodworking shop to create an incredible piece of furniture, or designing and fabricating a huge dynamically positioned offshore heavy lift ship.

Much of this boils down to how to make a model 'thing' and there are plenty of actual YouTube video's about that around. There was a lump of this book dedicated to designing and making a replica Blade Runner gun. This involved a whole section on how to make a list of things to do. Hmmm.

In the end I found this to be easy to read, moderately good but ultimately unsatisfying.
Brave New Girl
Brave New Girl
First found Chloe on Instagram and found her videos to be really helpful. Decided to get this in audiobook format and what a great decision! Loving this book so far - have been listening to it on morning runs and it's the first anxiety book I've bought that really hones in on the specific type of anxiety women experience. It's such a great way to start the day. The experiences are SO relatable that you feel like she's speaking directly to you, and she has such a pleasant, calming voice to boot.

The relevancy of the situations and experiences she discusses make the content that much more impactful and likely to stick with you. I had a good chuckle yesterday when I was running at the beach while listening to her talk about the importance of saying no to things, when I was accosted by a tourist holding a bouquet and asking me to take her picture. I obliged, even though it was a hassle and turned into a weird photoshoot of her frolicking in the waves and picking up seaweed. Normally, I would just go about my day lamenting how awkward situations always seem to find me. This time, I resumed her book and picked up listening to this section about saying no to things we don't want to do. Instead, I had a sort of "Aha moment", realizing I kind of just let that whole weird situation unfold because I hate saying no and feeling like I'm hurting someone's feelings. Had another moment of clarity this morning when she was talking about different things to say instead of "sorry", which is unfortunately a default word I'm always using.

This book is full of practical, concrete steps you can start taking to address the very specific anxieties we experience as females. Some of it certainly feels scary at first, but Chloe always seems to frame it in a reassuring, manageable way - providing various solutions for you to choose from. For this anxious lady brain, it's exactly what I needed in my life right now!
Elon Musk: Biography of the Mastermind Behind Paypal, SpaceX, and Tesla Motors
Elon Musk: Biography of the Mastermind Behind Paypal, SpaceX, and Tesla Motors
It appears that in an effort to rush something to publication in order to satisfy popular demand (which is more or less stated in the publisher's mission statement), all standards of good writing were entirely ignored. A high school student could have written a better essay.

A short work of literature it is. Filled with typos. A jumbled collection of facts presented in poorly written prose.

Don't waste your money or time.

If anyone comes across a good biography of Elon Musk, let me know.
Radical Simplicity: How Simplicity Transformed a Loss-Making Mega Brand into a World-Class Performer
Radical Simplicity: How Simplicity Transformed a Loss-Making Mega Brand into a World-Class Performer
I couldn't put this book down! Part autobiography, part leadership manifesto, in this easy-to-read book Ken Allen shares his SELF Reflection philosophy of Leadership that produced one of the greatest turnarounds in corporate history. Most strategies fail because they're too complicated or because of poor implementation. He says you cannot run a large organisation such as DHL from behind a desk. You've got to get out and about and engage with your people. Ken puts employees at the centre of building a successful organisation. However, not symbolically as many Leaders do. Instead, he turns the front-line into heroes! Ken walks his talk and sets the bar very high for other leaders who aspire to do great things! A worthy read!
If I Could Tell You Just One Thing: Encounters with Remarkable People and Their Most Valuable Advice
If I Could Tell You Just One Thing: Encounters with Remarkable People and Their Most Valuable Advice
This book has a great concept, I just think it would've been better if:
1) So the author is British, and he focused on British interviewees (I'd say about 70% of them are British, most of them relatively unknown outside of the UK). I'm from the Dominican Republic, and I would definitely appreciate more if his interviews had a more international tone. For example: why put Andy Murray and not Roger Federer? Why Sandi Toksvig and not Oprah? Why James Rhodes and not Andrea Bocelli? Why Michael McIntyre and not Eddy Murphy?
2) It would've been better if he interviewed more business-oriented individuals, instead of so many artists, who give --in my opinion-- the book a tone too liberal for my taste.
The Outsider's Edge: The Making of Self-Made Billionaires
The Outsider's Edge: The Making of Self-Made Billionaires
This is a good book about extereme achievers - billionaires in this case, because their achievement can be easily quantified in financial terms. The conlusion of the author would apply to any extreme achiever in politics, science, arts, sports, entertainment...

17 mini biographies of billionaires, for each about 10 pages, make up around 2/3 of the book. Readers can easily pick those they are interested and skipping some without losing the context.

The theme of the book is exciting for anyone interested in the field of extreme achievements. Basically, if you were looking for only one attribute (intelligence, fearlessness etc), what would it be? The author hypothesis is that extreme achievers are all `outsiders', i.e. they all have an edge of being different.

Before reading the book, I was convinced that extreme achievers are outsiders. But I was convinced that being an outsider is an effect, not a cause. That those extreme achievers thought and behaved differently, that's what made them outsiders. Not the other way around.

I'm not that sure anymore. The author makes a very strong point why outsiders become different. In particular why people who have had significant failure in the 3 great domains of family, school and friends usually don't have a rich choice of things to focus in life. So they are often left with one thing only to focus on and excel in it. The same logic of outsiders explains why involvement in school sports works against extreme achievement in any other field. And finally, being an outsider means that they are less influenced by conventional wisdom and social expectations.

Like the book OUTLINERS, THE OUTSIDER's EDGE helps us `understanding' extreme achievement. Unfortunately, it helps us little in improving ourselves. Thus, for an intellectual pursue, it's a good book. For a `self-help' it fails.

Read some reviews, stating the sign did not include stakes, but I did receive mine as mentioned in the item description, so no issues there. For the price, I truly believe its a great deal for all 3 items. I love showing our President that I am one of his loyal supporters and that I also stand behind him for the 2020 election. DONALD TRUMP 45th President Official Colorized 2016 Presidential Dollar $1 Coin
DONALD TRUMP 45th President Official Colorized 2016 Presidential Dollar $1 Coin
I knew going into this that US Dollar coins are barely larger than quarters and they are given a gold tint specifically so they don't get confused for quarters. They are nothing like the size of "Silver Dollars" or even the 50 cent piece. So once you get over how small it is, it's neat. Comes in plastic case which itself is in a plastic bag with a "certificate of authenticity" for some reason. There is no serial number nor anyway to prove the certificate is to this particular coin, I could put Canadian pennies in there.

It's a gimmick for Trump Supporters. Is the color graphic worth the $8 dollars? I don't know but I've wasted $8 on less before.

I'll probably take it out of the plastic so I can feel the coin, don't pretend this will ever be worth more than you paid for it though. It's a novelty not a collectable.
Think BIG and Kick Ass in Business and Life
Think BIG and Kick Ass in Business and Life
The Art of the Deal".

Gerne in Englisch. Aber vielleicht kommt das ja noch ...

Fazit:

DANKE.

Donald Talking Pen, 8 Different Sayings, Trump's Real Voice, Just Click And Listen, Funny Gifts For Trump and Hillary Fans
Whether you like or dislike him this is oh so fun. Eight different saying hysterical! Just good clean fun and If you can not laugh what can you do. All in all it is surprisingly a very well made pen and it writes lovely but it slightly top heavy. It is a little bit wide barreled but its fine. You just twist the pen clockwise on the rubber grip to expose the medium ball point pen which is black ink. It is very well made not cheap at all. It will make a good gag gift to someone who laughs with or at the Don. It says Donald for President on the side and not Trump for that reason I can't not say because I don't know why, Maybe licensing stuff who knows. I recommend for the lighthearted and the open-minded.
Help! [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (The U.S. Album)
Help! [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (The U.S. Album)
I know there's been a lot of controversy over the mixes used on this reissue, particularly concerning the inclusion of the "true" mono mixes over the "fold-down stereo" ones on the original album. I have the Capitol Albums Vol. 2 box set as well as this reissue, so I also have the original mixes on CD. Personally, I'm not really bothered by the differences (though I must admit to being partial to the "true" stereo mix here of "Ticket To Ride," which was in "fake" stereo on the original stereo release). Although only seven of the songs on the album are actually by the Fab Four, they are good songs; in fact, two of them, "Help!" and "Ticket To Ride," were #1 hits in America! As for the instrumentals (which were composed by Ken Thorne), I don't enjoy them as much as the George Martin-composed ones on the Hard Day's Night soundtrack (which were all renditions of actual Beatles songs) --- well, not MOST of them; I actually really dig "Another Hard Day's Night"! The others are O.K., though. While I don't enjoy the Help! soundtrack as much as that of AHDN (partly because I think the AHDN one has mostly better instrumentals), I still think it is very good! I also think it's cool that this reissue replicates the gatefold cover of the original album!
Bridge over Troubled Water
Bridge over Troubled Water
I wavered between 4 and 5 stars for this review. I finally settled on 4, because the lengthy intro (almost 2 minutes) sounds dated and cheap. I would rate the intro as 1 star.

However, when Aretha finally begins to sing, it is 5 stars all the way. The whole song is almost 5.5 minutes, so Aretha's part is roughly 3.5 minutes of pure soul--pure joy!

The Simon and Garfunkel original is better--5 stars from beginning to end-- but Aretha's version gives it a different, and for the most part delightful, twist.

Louis Armstrong: I've Got the World on a String+Louis Under the Stars

ただ、“Louis Under The Stars”のBody and Soulは、まあ、良い感じだ。

This book is a "self-help" game changer. Dr. Dufresne has an incredible way of speaking to his audience in a way that really absorbs and sticks to your thoughts and actions compared to other books Ive read. So many "Aa ha!" moments that have completely changed my perspective in how to feel better about myself and the world around me. Not only is the author brilliant but hes relatable as well as comical which makes this such an easy and enjoyable read. I highly recommend this to anyone who's ready to make some positive changes in their life.

So you like to drink real martinis because you are fancy, but you're not fancy because you're rich, oh no, you are not at all rich, and you need a real martini glass that is not made out of plastic and is not actually for margaritas and is inexpensive but not so cheap that it breaks easily because, let's face it, despite your fanciness, you are a bit clumsy sober, let alone when you are tipsy from all those martinis? Look no further.
*These are real martini glasses for real martinis
*These are sturdy
*These are inexpensive
No they are not perfect (a few slight warbles in the glass here and there) but you're not looking for perfection are you? If you are I suggest buying some nice super expensive crystal glasses, you fancy rich person.

COOLA Organic Sunless Tan Firming Lotion, Pina Colada, 6 Fl Oz
I bought this based on some online reviews I read on other sites. This stuff is the real deal. The first time I used it, I was hooked. I realized I used a generous amount the first time, so the second time I tried to use a bit less because I actually wasted some. I found out the generous application is what prevents any streaking. I did end up with a bit of streak on my leg the second time because I tried to apply as little as possible. I learned my lesson.

It has a tropical smell, which I love. If you're sensitive to fragrance, it might be too much. Overall, this is an amazing product. I would rather use this than sit in the sun any day. The color is rich but very natural and even. This stuff is amazing, and the facial serum by them is even better.

1992 NCAA(r) Division I Men's Basketball Championship - Duke vs. Michigan
Very nice quality for a game from 1992. Duke won its second title in 2 years in a great game against Michigan's Fab Five. The game was close until about the middle of the second half when Duke pulled away to win by 20. It did not have the drama of the East Region final win against Kentucky, but it was an interesting contrast in styles with Michigan's five freshmen facing Duke's tournament tested team.

Marvel Thor: Ragnarok Electronic Thor
I ordered this Thor after I already had purchased the Hulk Ragnarok since they interact with each other. It wasn't much interaction but my 4 year old loves it.He sleeps with both of them and wants to take them everywhere. If you have a child that's into the Avengers you would want to add this to their collection.I prefer the Hulk Ragnarok because it's bigger and I love how Hulk hollers out his phrases.Usually talking toys get on my nerves but these haven't and they keep my 4 year old's attention.Usually he gets a new toy and a few days it's in the toy chest or thrown somewhere but he hasn't stopped his fascination with Thor or the Hulk.
Stella Blomkvist
Stella Blomkvist
This is a 6-part television series (the duration of each episode is around 45 minutes), directed by a young, talented Icelandic director, Óskar Thór Axelsson (''I Remember You'', ''Trapped'', ''Black's Game'') and having Heida Reed, in the role of the protagonist, Stella Blomkvist. Stella is a big-shot lawyer in today's Reykjavik which seems to have the same problems as every major European capital does. Each story is completed in two episodes, so -in total- there are three separate stories linked by a common plot thread which involves corrupt politicians, tabloid scandals and the forbidden videos hidden in the ''blue bag'' which everybody wants to possess.
Stella's character is a tough as nails, dynamic counselor who is always chasing the big cases, both for the prestige and the money. She doesn't mind bending the rules when that is what's demanded but she is far from immoral, as she seems to have a rather strict set a principles and a clear as well as unambiguous sense of right and wrong. As a result, Stella is a sympathetic character who manages to win the audience from the first episode, but this show is lacking strong secondary characters who would help the stories to seem more plausible and be more engaging. The ''bad'' characters are nearly caricatures, or at best, they are one-dimensional and exist for the sole purpose of moving the plot forward. The pacing of the show is fast and effective and the editing is worthy of a special mention. The stories themselves, though being entertaining, are a far cry from the high standards of the best Nordic Noir television productions.
Overall, I cannot say that it is a show that I wouldn't recommend, but there are a lot of flaws in this Icelandic production. If you expect the quality and brilliance of other Icelandic series such as ''Trapped'' you will definitely be disappointed. If you are looking for a crime show that is easy to watch and equally easy to forget, then you should take a chance and watch this.

Puntos a favor:
+No produce mucho calor.

Inuyasha, Vol. 54 (54)
Inuyasha, Vol. 54 (54)
This series was full of heart, full of mystery, full of action and adventure. The anime is wonderfully written and the soundtrack is superb. The manga is powerful. It contains alot of things the anime wasnt able to give you. There is alot more detail and alot more character elements in the manga. That being said every single piece of this wonderful series is worth buying and Amazon offers one of the best prices youll find to collect it without going bankrupt.
The Fellowship of the Ring (Dramatized)
The Fellowship of the Ring (Dramatized)
This item is referred to as "The Fellowship of the Ring (BBC Full-Cast Dramatization) [UNABRIDGED]". Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines "unabridged" as "2 : being the most complete of its class : not based on one larger". This definition led me to believe that I would be receiving the whole story. I should have looked at the number of disks (or tapes) and the 4 hour time given. This is not an unabridged version of the first boook of The LOTR trilogy. It might be an unabridged version of the BBC rendition, but who knows. This is just slightly longer than the movie version, so still no Tom B, no Barrow Downs, etc.

I have not purchased the other BBC dramatications of the LOTR series, but I did notice that they are not labled "UNABRIDGED"!
A Thoreau Gazetteer (Princeton Legacy Library)
A Thoreau Gazetteer (Princeton Legacy Library)
This slim volume contains 23 maps that outline Henry David Thoreau's travels: from his hometown jaunts around Concord and his favorite Concord and Merrimack Rivers and Walden Pond, to his long-distance trips to Maine, Cape Cod, Canada, and Minnesota. Some images are reproductions of Thoreau's own drawings; others are historical sources that he might/must have consulted. Any originals here are more accurate than the master map in John Christie's "Thoreau as World Traveler," though a few minor lines are not quite exact. Each map is accompanied by explanatory text about the trip and Thoreau's methods of transportation. In some places, the photos or maps are a page-turn away from the text that explains them, making the reader scan back and forth. But for the most part, this book is an invaluable volume for contemporary Thoreau disciples and researchers to own. It provides the when, where, and how of Thoreau's excursions, and it supplements the details with period photos of places and transport. A chronology of his travels and a full index complete this useful work. Used copies are surprisingly easy to find, too.

Seuss-isms! A Guide to Life for Those Just Starting Out...and Those Already on Their Way
Even though I have never been a big fan of the Dr. Seuss books; nevertheless, I realize they are very popular with children and teachers. I recently purchased this volume (Seuss-isms: A guide to life for those just starting out and those already on their way by Dr. Seuss) on Amazon and found it to be a somewhat interesting read.

Even though it is clearly aimed at children; nevertheless, the clever quotes and sayings are amusing enough to interest many people. If you are a fan of Dr. Seuss books you may want to check out this book. I found it to be just a fair read.

The Dead Boyfriend: A Fear Street Novel
The Dead Boyfriend: A Fear Street Novel
Caitlyn Donnelly is enraged when she discovers that the boy she loves - Blade Hampton - was simply stringing her along. So she kills him. Being discovered by the police is the last of her worries, as events see Blade coming back from the dead to harass her.

There's a good idea floating about these pages, but the execution is terrible. Like previous entries in this reboot, the supernatural elements are tossed in far too lazily, with no specific "rules" to follow. Stine just bends things to his will to match where he wants the story to go. It really bugs me. I will concede that a 12 or 13 year old may be less fussy than my 36 year old self, but I still think it's sloppy. There's a lot of YA material out there that doesn't treat its readership like, well, idiots. I am also quite disappointed that the Fear Street reboots just don't feel like Fear Street books. They more resemble Goosebumps books, but with older characters and more graphic violence. In actual fact, only a small minority of the original Fear Street books contained a supernatural element. More than 75% were simply fun, fast-paced murder mysteries or thrillers. Here, four out of five of the books have been supernatural. Stine needs to remember which series he's rebooting!

Characterisation is standard for this series. It's more about providing a fun, slightly cheesy, fast-paced horror tale than creating believable characters with depth. And "The Dead Boyfriend" does move along at a decent clip, with Stine's infamous cliffhanger chapter endings working pretty well this time around. In fact, I wasn't entirely hating the book....until it delivered one of the most horrendous, deplorable cop-out endings I've ever had the open-mouthed shock to read. For real? I was taught in Year 3 of PRIMARY SCHOOL not to end a story like that. I am absolutely astounded a publisher would foist an ending like that on a reader and assume it wasn't a complete insult to their intelligence. It pretty much destroyed the book for me. I was tempted to rate it 1 star for that reason alone. However, I didn't hate the experience of reading "The Dead Boyfriend", so I've been generous and bumped the rating up to 2 stars.

It must be said, even the 160 page Fear Street quickies from the 90s had more substance than this waffle. When this reboot inevitably dies a quiet death due to juvenile writing and lousy plotting, I'll go back to re-reading the originals.

The Thomas Berryman Number
The Thomas Berryman Number
I read this book years ago but I recently started down-sizing my library and life in general. I had given approximately 900 hard copies of books to a nearby nursing home along with bookcases. One of the patients there had been looking for something to read when we took all the bookcases and boxes of books inside. She immediately noticed this book and said what I have been saying for years: "I love James Patterson's early books! This is one I have read at least five times!" I responded that all of his books were in the many boxes and she now had the chance to read all of them again. She started crying because she couldn't believe that anyone would give away a library of that many books rather than sell them! We talked about Mr. Patterson's many books and how the earliest were his best. The Thomas Berryman Number is one that I have read approximately a dozen times, so I just downloaded it to my Kindle! Now I can read his best ones again and again. THIS is one of those books that you will read over and over. Like the classics, Mr. Patterson can produce excellent writings and this is one of his best. Enjoy!

Bleach, Vol. 9
Bleach, Vol. 9
Ichigo, Ishida, Orihime, and Chad, along with Mr. Yoruichi the cat, race through the Precipice in order to get to the Soul Society to save Rukia. If they don’t do it quickly enough, they risk being killed! To make matters worse, the Cleaner is right behind them! Luckily they make it and find themselves in the Slum District, known as the Rukongai, where souls live when they first come to Soul Society, just outside the Seireitei, where the Soul Reapers live. An exuberant Ichigo decides to sprint right into the Seireitei, but quickly learns why that isn’t a good idea when a huge gate slams down in front of him, along with its ginormous guardian, Jindanbô. Yoruichi and Ishida want to regroup and formulate a plan, but Chad and Orihime rush headlong after Ichigo, in order to help him. However, Jindanbô informs them there is only two to a duel, so they have to wait to fight him.

After being defeated by Ichigo, Jindanbô agrees to let them pass, but when he raises the gate, trouble is waiting on the other side in the form of a Soul Reaper by the name of Gin Ichimaru. As big as he is, Jindanbô quails at the sight of Gin, who punishes the gate keeper. When Ichigo protests his treatment of the gentle giant, they briefly skirmish before Gin pushes the giant out of the way, lowering the gate. Guess they’ll need to find another way to get inside!

Ichigo and his group find themselves the object of interest by some of the locals, who usually prefer to keep to themselves. But they are kindly disposed toward Ichigo for standing up for Jindanbô against Gin even as Orihime works to heal him. Chad unexpectedly sees a familiar face among them. But now they have to formulate a new plan and actually listen to Yoruichi. The cat suggests finding Kûkaku Shiba. However it seems this person moves around a lot. Suddenly a wild boar appears, followed by a strange man attempting to catch up to it. Right away he notices a Soul Reaper is present, ie Ichigo, and becomes belligerent. The man’s name is Ganju, and it doesn’t take long for him and Ichigo to get into it!

Before things go too far, one of Ganju’s associates, who are all mounted on boars, reminds him that it’s nine o’clock, and away they all ride. Ichigo is determined to wait for him to come back to finish what was started but Yoruichi puts the kibosh on that idea. They head out to search for the person Yoruichi is sure can help them get into the Seireitei.

In this volume, we get our first introduction to the world of Soul Society. I still have questions about that place. And about Soul Reapers. This isn’t a spoiler, since I still don’t know the answer, even after watching more than 300 episodes of the anime. The people they meet are souls, so they must be dead, and yet it seems like they’re living regular lives here. Also, are the Soul Reapers dead?

The encounter between Ichigo and boar-rider Ganju is hilarious, and you just know they’ll meet again somehow and continue the fight. Assuming nobody interferes or tries to stop them. Ichigo also apparently rubs Ishida the same way. The Quincy doesn’t like to be told what to do and resents that Ichigo assumes leadership of the group, something that Chad and Orihime apparently have no problem with. Mr. Yoruichi seems to be there in an advisory capacity but isn’t always listened to, obviously.

In this volume we see a little more of the enigma that is Gin. Don’t worry, you’ll be seeing more of him. Judging by the way the Seireitei is walled off from everyone else, there seems to be some class division here. Do they think themselves too good to mingle with the others, or is there another reason? I couldn’t tell you. The ending is pretty good and since I know what’s coming, I look forward to it. As usual, Bleach is filled with both action and humor, but don’t discount the author’s ability to delve into his characters. The more we travel with them, the more we’ll learn, layer by layer. Many surprises lie ahead.

Many.

Looking forward to volume 10.

The Kindle edition is of H, Bencraft Joly's 1892 translation, which covers only the first 56 of a total of 108 or 110 chapters. Joly's translation is not particularly poetic, and is certainly less desirable than a number of later versions.

From what I've been told, the best editions of this book is
Siddhartha (Dover Thrift Editions)
Siddhartha (Dover Thrift Editions)
I just finished reading Siddhartha, and I can safely say without a shadow of a doubt, that it is now my favourite book. It's simply amazing that this was published in 1922, it is a timeless breath of simplicity and creativity. Herman Hesse was known for writing semi autobiographical novels, and this one is no exception; the character Siddhartha is even recognised for his writing ability at one stage of the novel. Siddhartha is heavily influenced by Hesse's close relationship with the great Swisse psychologist Carl Jung, and it is a treat to experience the archetypal imagery that Hesse manages to bring to life with sheer mastery. The novel reads like an old mythic tale, told with simple descriptive prose, and playful dialogue: the characters even refer to themselves in the third person! While reading Siddhartha, I couldn't help but picture the novel's world as being hand drawn, like the old drawings of the Buddha and the Hindu and Buddhist mythologies of old. The book is divided into three parts, which symbolically follow Siddhartha's birth, death, and rebirth. The Siddhartha in the novel is not related to the Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha), but he exists in the same time as him, and the two cross paths in the book. Even though they are unrelated, and the story hasn't much to do with the Buddha, the novel implies that the Buddha exists everywhere and in everyone and is merely a representation of the enlightenment available to anyone, at any moment. Whether it be at the moment of physical death, sickness, wealth, sadness, or simply holding and looking at a rock, one is capable of `waking up' and seeing the inter connectedness of everything.

I won't elaborate any further on the book, I would hate to subtract any of your enjoyment out of reading it yourself, and if you haven't, I urge you to. One important thing to consider before reading it however, (it is a fairly short read - roughly 80 pages) is the translation. The original was written in German, so the translation of the book can make or break it. Some translations are really poor, while others capture the essence of the novel beautifully and gracefully, like a net catches a butterfly before releasing it into the wind. Below is a extract of the book, spanning all (or at least most) of the English translations available to you, to help you choose the right version for you. I've ordered them in order of best to worst, though you might have a different opinion to me.

SIDDHARTHA ENGLISH TRANSLATION COMPARISON:

Dover Thrift, introduction, translation and glossary of Indian terms by Stanley Appelbaum (1998)

Instructed by the samana elder, Siddhartha practiced denial of self; he practiced concentration in accordance with new samana rules. A heron flew over the bamboo forest - and Siddhartha absorbed the heron into his soul; he flew over forest and mountain, he was the heron, he ate fish, he hungered with a heron's hunger, he spoke with a heron's croaking, he died a heron's death. A dead jackal lay on the sandy riverbank, and Siddhartha's soul slipped into the carcass; he was a dead jackal, he lay on the sand, he swelled up, stank, rotted, was torn apart by hyenas, was skinned by vultures, became a skeleton, turned to dust, blew away into the fields. And Siddhartha's soul returned; it had died, it had rotted, it had fallen into dust, it had tasted the dismal intoxication of the cycle of existences; filled with fresh thirst, like a hunter it was awaiting the gap through which it might escape the cycle, where causation would come to an end, where sorrowless eternity began. He mortified his senses, he mortified his power to remember, he stole out of his ego and into a thousand unfamiliar forms of creation; he was an animal, he was a carcass, he was stone, he was wood, he was water, and each time, upon awakening, he found himself again; the sun or the moon was shining; he was himself once again, he was moving through the cycle; he felt thirst, overcame his thirst, felt fresh thirst.

Modern Library, a translation by Susan Bernofsky, foreword by Tom Robbins, translator's preface (2006)

Instructed by the eldest of the Samanas, Siddhartha practiced the eradication of ego, practiced samadhi according to new Samana rules. A heron flew over the bamboo forest--and Siddhartha received the heron into his soul, flew over forests and mountains, was heron, ate fish, felt the pangs of heron hunger, spoke in heron squawks, died heron death. A dead jackal lay on the sandy bank, and Siddhartha's soul slipped into the corpse, was dead jackal, lay on the beach, grew bloated, stank, decayed, was torn apart by hyenas and flayed by vultures, became a skeleton, became dust, blew into the fields. And Siddhartha's soul returned, it had died, had decayed, become dust, it had tasted the bleak euphoria of the cyclical journey, and then, freshly thirsty, it waited crouching like a hunter for the gap in the cycle where escape was possible, where the end of causality began, an eternity free of sorrow. He killed off his senses, he killed off his memory, he slipped from his Self to enter a thousand new shapes, was animal, was cadaver, was stone, was wood, was water, and each time he awakened he found himself once more, the sun would be shining, or else the moon, and he was once more a Self oscillating in the cycle, he felt thirst, overcame the thirst, felt new thirst.

Shambhala Classics, a translation by Sherab Chödzin Kohn, introduction by Paul W. Morris, translator's preface (1998).

Taught by the eldest shramana, Siddhartha practiced self-abnegation, practiced meditative absorption according to the new instructions of the shramanas. A heron flew over the bamboo grove, and Siddhartha became one with the heron in his mind, flew over forest and mountain, became a heron, ate fish, hungered with a heron's hunger, spoke a heron's croaking languages, died a heron's death. There was a dead jackal lying on the sandy bank, and Siddhartha's mind slipped into the carcass, became a dead jackal, lay on the shore, swelled up, stank, rotted, was torn to pieces by hyenas, flayed by vultures, became a skeleton, became dust, blew about in the fields. And Siddhartha's mind returned, dead, rotten, reduced to dust, having tasted the dark drunkenness of the cycle of existence. With a new craving it lay in wait like a hunter for the gap where that cycle could be escaped, where the end of causation could begin, eternity without suffering. He slipped out of his ego into a thousand alien forms, became a beast, carrion, became stone, wood, water--yet each time when he awoke he found himself there again. By sunshine or by moonlight, he was once again ego, was pressed back into the cycle, felt craving, overcame the craving, felt craving anew.

Bantam Books, a translation by Hilda Rosner (1951). This translation is also available in a number of different editions from other publishers.

Instructed by the eldest of the Samanas, Siddhartha practiced self-denial and meditation according to the Samana rules. A heron flew over the bamboo wood and Siddhartha took the heron into his soul, flew over forest and mountains, became a heron, ate fishes, suffered heron hunger, used heron language, died a heron's death. A dead jackal lay on the sandy shore and Siddhartha's soul slipped into its corpse; he became a dead jackal, lay on the shore, swelled, stank, decayed, was dismembered by hyenas, was picked at by vultures, became a skeleton, became dust, mingled with the atmosphere. And Siddhartha's soul returned, died, decayed, turned into dust, experienced the troubled course of the life cycle. He waited with new thirst like a hunter at a chasm where the life cycle ends, where there is an end to causes, where painless eternity begins. He killed his senses, he killed his memory, he slipped out of his Self in a thousand different forms. He was animal, carcass, stone, wood, water, and each time he reawakened. The sun or moon shone, he was again Self, swung into the life cycle, felt thirst, conquered thirst, felt new thirst.

Penguin, a translation by Joachim Neugroschel, introduction by Ralph Freedman, translator's note (2002).

Taught by the eldest of the samanas, Siddhartha practiced unselfing, practiced meditation, according to the samana rules. A heron flew over the bamboo forest--and Siddhartha took the heron into his soul, flew over forests and mountains, was a heron, ate fish, hungered heron hunger, spoke heron croaking, died heron death. A dead jackal lay on the sandy bank, and Siddhartha's soul slipped into the cadaver, was a dead jackal, lay on the shore, swelled, stank, rotted, was shredded by hyenas, was skinned by vultures, became a skeleton, became dust, wafted into the fields. And Siddhartha's soul returned, was dead, was rotted, was dispersed, had tasted the dismal drunkenness of the cycle of life, waited in new thirst like a hunter, waited for the gap through which he could escape the cycle, where the end of causes came, where painless eternity began. He killed his senses, he killed his memory, he slipped from his ego into a thousand different formations. He was animal, was carcass, was rock, was wood, was water, and he always found himself again upon awakening. Sun was shining or moon, he was self again, swinging in the cycle, felt thirst, overcame thirst, felt new thirst.

Barnes & Noble Classics, a translation by Rika Lesser, introduction and notes by Robert A.F. Thurman (2007)

Instructed by the eldest of the shramanas, Siddhartha practiced moving away from the self, practiced meditation, following new rules, the shramanas' rules. A heron flew over the bamboo forest--and Siddhartha took the heron into his soul, flew over the forest and the mountains, was the heron, gobbled fish, hungered as a heron hungers, spoke heron croak, died the death of a heron. A dead jackal lay on the sandy shore, and Siddhartha's soul slid inside its corpse, became the dead jackal, lay on the strand, swelled up, stank, putrefied, was dismembered by the hyenas, skinned by vultures, became bones, dust, blew in open country. And Siddhartha's soul died, decayed, turned to dust, tasted the muddy rush of the cycle, waiting in new thirst like a hunter for the gap where the cycle would be escaped, where the end of causes, where eternity free of suffering would begin. He mortified his senses, he slew his memory, he slid out of his I into a thousand alien shapes, became beast, carrion, stone, wood, water, and found himself every time awakening again, in the light of the sun or the moon, again he was I, whirling around in the round, he felt thirst, conquered thirst, felt thirst anew.

Really, you should be reading Mileck, Freedman and Ziolkowsky, all of whom wrote excellent biographies of Hesse. The pictures are nice and everything, and if you really want to see every picture available of Hesse, this is a good start.
Daisy and the Trouble With Life
Daisy and the Trouble With Life
I bought this for my little girl because we liked the illustrations and I read a review in the paper. Well, it was a big success. The chapters are really short, the ideas are funny, and the vocabulary is really simple and repetitive without being boring. This means any 6 or 7 year old should be able to read it independently. My little girl likes to read a couple of chapters and then come and tell me what the trouble is with frogspawn, or lollies, or sherbert, or whatever she has just read. We end up laughing because it's all so true to life and I love Daisy's grumpy but fun loving attitude to life! A must read book.

Primitives by Kathy Cotton Dish Towel, 28 x 28-Inch, Gather - Give Thanks - Feast
I ordered these for my daughter (15), and here is what she had to say— I love love love the idea of these socks. The design is a cute idea, and I couldn’t find thanksgiving socks at Target or Kohl’s (places I normally get fun socks) so this amazon find was convenient. However, after my mom ordered the socks and they took over a week to ship (we have prime and these were supposedly included) we found out the product was on backorder. Nowhere when we ordered it did it say it was on backorder. This was annoying because we ordered them on the 7th thinking I’d get a few uses out of them. They finally got in on the 17th and were a huge disappointment. I only got one wear out of them since they came so late and I was disappointed by the look. “Gobble til you Wobble” is printed on only the right side of both socks. I don’t really know if I’m explaining this well, but basically it looked as if I was wearing 2 right socks. Another complaint I have is the material. They felt very very thin and made of cheap material. For a sock that cost $10, I would’ve expected a nicer material. My feet were very cold while wearing them, but I did get a lot of compliments on them from classmates and teachers. I will definitely get some use out of these next year considering they’re my only pair of thanksgiving socks, but I am extremely disappointed.

Power Rangers Movie Super Morphing Action Figure
For a 5 year old Power Rangers fan, this was a big hit! He looks good, he’s pretty big, and he has a powerful
move. What’s not to like?
And he cleans easily if kids get sticky stuff on him.
Note to adults-
When you squeeze his legs he spins around ready to fight anything. Don’t let child spin it right next to the face. He spins fast and hard.

How to Enhance Instructional PRESENCE: Research & experience based techniques to improve both online & face-to-face instruction (VIDEO for EDUCATION Series Book 1)
Anders offers up practical advice, supported by current research, on how to create community through online spaces. One (of many) unique things about this book is Anders ability to break down the components of video and illustrate how to construct a video that enhances your message, content, and class. I've taken Anders advice into a hybrid undergraduate course. The course met once a week, and I always felt we didn't have enough time together to build classroom community and dig into the content. However, through incorporating video - whether it be through class announcements, or feedback on papers - I was able to create content that my students interacted with throughout the week. It was also fun! When I was gone because of a conference, I used video to include my class in the conference and to extend content outside of our classroom and geographic context. This is an invaluable resource for any educator - completely recommend it!

Essential Values Prank Spray Extra Strong ( 1 fl oz) - Non-Toxic Extra Concentrated Formula - Perfect Gag Gift for All | Prank Friends, Family, & Others if You Dare
My son ordered this as a literal GAG gift for himself. He had hoped he could use it to prank others.

When he asked me to take a whiff of it -- with the cap still on -- my head whipped back faster than The Flash, gagging immediately. It was clear: GROUND RULES HAD TO BE MADE.

1. He must be OUTSIDE. AT LEAST 10 feet away from the house.
2. He must not spray himself or anyone planning on coming into our home.
3. Never aim at faces. Simply crop-dusting them will give plenty of effect!!

And so he did as instructed -- having a literal blast with his siblings. All I could hear, safe within my nice-smelling abode was: "AWWWWW MANNN!!" "UGH!!" **Vomiting sounds*** laughing."AGAIN!!!"

So, 5 stars for him.
"Get that thing the hell away from me" rating for me.

A bit of documentation re: what the display is telling us would have been nice, however the device's operation is pretty straightforward.

As stated in the headline I have been running it 24/7 since received on 3/2/2020. Generally at not more than 50% of rated capacity¹; it runs quite cool--a cool temperature, not "wicked awesome cool" (though it's not far from that either).

I have it stuck to the wall of my office (see photo )with that gray 3M double-sided tape (this stuff, https://www.amazon.com/3M-VHB-5952-Automotive-Industrial/dp/B00MAQBPEM, best there is).

I like it, highly recommended...

¹ -- as rule of thumb, for best performance and service life, electrical devices should not be run continuously at more than 80% of rated capacity.
The Multi Voice Changer that arrived was a different color than the one pictured. No big deal, I thought, it'll still be fun to play with. Whoops--wrong! The thing has 5 different settings, which you can use to produce 5 (barely) different noises when you speak into the mic. However, the noises that come out don't sound like any kind of voice saying anything; they're just noises. If you keep talking for longer than about 3 seconds, then the noises stop altogether, and it's just you talking again. This thing is not a voice changer, as no one can understand any words being said. It's just a noisemaker, and a lousy one at that. I know you get what you pay for, and this thing was cheap, but if I'd known what it was like I would have saved my $5 and kept this thing out of the landfill. Oh, and by the time you destroy the clam shell packaging to discover it doesn't work, it's not returnable anymore. My advice: if you're looking for a cheap novelty toy that's also fun, keep looking.

Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair for Standing Desk Drafting Mesh Table Chair with Adjustable Armrest and Foot Ring
I am passionate about all things design and construction. Ever since I was old enough to lift a hammer, I was making a mess and nailing everything together in the garage. I love my job, I am happy to share my advice and experience in the architecture and home improvement industries. I am happy recommend products and services to help people accomplish your goals and simply get the job done.

I recently purchased this drafting chair because I wanted to build a work platform in the room, and sometimes I wanted to do some simple work in the room instead of going to the studio in the garage. I have to say that I made a correct choice to buy this chair, it is so perfect! This Drafting Chair is a workhorse seat that belongs in an office with high desk surfaces, be it an architectural firm or a laboratory. It has an ample seat height range between 25.2-33.9in. The chair makes the perfect companion for long hours you spend on a project or a task because of how much comfort it provides. The mesh back promotes air circulation so that your back remains cool over time. The swivel seat consists of mesh padded with thick foam and is curved into a waterfall shape so that circulation gets to your legs. The chair also comes with an adjustable foot ring to prevent sore legs over long sitting periods. Its other customizable features also factor into its position as the top choice. They include its tilt lock mechanism, flip-up armrests and seat height adjustment lever. Anyway, this drafting chair that best suits the specific needs of your business, whether you're most concerned about color or cost.

Another surprise is that it's really easy to assemble! When I received it I thought I needed to spend some time assembling it. I put on some good tunes and get an adult cocktail to ease the assembly. Surprisingly, assembly went really well. It only took about 15 minutes.

If there’s anything I learned in the last 10 weeks from trying to replace a Netgear WNDR3800 and R6300 with a newer 802.11ac router is that wireless is consistently inconsistent. I tested the Synology RT1900ac, Netgear R8500 (3 of them thanks to failing radios), ASUS RT-AC5300, RT-AC3100, RT-AC1900P and now the Synology RT2600ac.

The R8500 was faster overall than all of them but there was no way I was going to continue with replacements with repeated radio failures and wasn't going to put up with their tired interface and lack a features. I really liked the RT1900ac features and interface but had average performance at best. I wound up settling with the RT-AC5300 because it was almost as fast as the R8500 but had a better interface and features. There have been reports that the radios in this model have been failing like the Netgear and left me uneasy; I’m wondering if it has something to do with the Broadcom chipset they share or if they’re overheating because there isn’t any way to adjust power with both tri-band models.

Luckily the RT2600ac started shipping before my return period expired on the RT-AC5300 and keeping the Synology. I wish performance was better overall than the R8500 but I’d stack it in-between the two with the Synology beating the Netgear on a few of my tests. Performance for all models were inconsistent and neither of the top three dominated, but my choice was based on performance in locations and operations I perform the most, family feedback, features, product management and usability.

I like that you can adjust power levels but only low, medium and high are offered; the low levels on 2GHz and 5GHz cover the areas I need on that segment of my network. The other models don’t let you adjust power levels. It’s nice I’m not restricted to 16 character passwords like the ASUS models. One down side is that it doesn’t support 64 HEX characters like other routers and clients and have addressed this with Synology. At least they responded the next day to my query unlike the other manufacturers. It’s great that Synology and ASUS allow you to change the admin user name and also support HTTPS management on the LAN side as well as selecting your own port unlike Netgear. The Synology has certificate support which can be exported to other appliances and allows SYSLOG as well as other features. I’m currently using the router as an NTP server and pointing all devices to it so only one device goes out externally for time. Another feature I’m looking forward to testing more is the IPS beta add-on they have; it’s a free feature and there’s also a paid subscription service. You need to have external storage to download and use so a fast SD card should do. Off the top of my head it added about 10% CPU usage up to (30ish) and the same amount of RAM. There are other packages available that can be downloaded like a DNS server, VPN and others but not planning on using it on this router.

I was pleased to see the addition of eight 5GHz band channels (52-112) (the RT1900ac had this as well) but haven’t had the chance to use them. There are currently no users on those channels in my area and it reminds me of the days when I was the only one using 802.11a on 5GHz for years. Too bad it’s getting crowded like 2.4GHz in my area.

I think Synology made good with their second router attempt and glad I’m able to use “big boy” features not seen on consumer/home routers and for less cost. ASUS can try to polish their UI with their “updated” 5300 for a lot more money but my money is going to Synology with a more complete package. I’m also confident they’d support this product with updates longer than the home versions based on experience with some of their NAS devices.

This isn’t a controlled test environment but my typical “real world” operation.
Used a PCIe Half Mini Card Intel AC 7260 2x2 (867 Mb), an ASUS USB-AC68 USB 3.0 3x4 (1300 Mb), and Netgear A6200 USB 2.0 (867 Mb) adapters for testing. Routers were swapped at the same location on a second floor and clients on 1st floor (same location) at about 45 degree angle and approximately 40 ft. away. Power was set to high for RT2600ac and both used same fixed channels on 5GHz where adjacent interference was minimal. Routers were upgraded to latest versions, set in AP mode and fully configured as I would normally run as well as client adapters updated on Windows 10 64-bit.

Highest speed gap in favor of the RT-AC5300 was about 160 Mb better average download speed with 7260 adapter.

Highest speed gap for the RT2600ac was about 176 Mb better average upload speed with USB-AC68 adapter on USB 2.0 system.

The fastest wireless speed test was achieved by the RT-AC5300 with the 7260 adapter registering 328 Mb peak and 304 Mb average download. The same router w/MIMO enabled also had the slowest wireless speed test with the USB-AC68 adapter, on a USB 2.0 system with only 32 Mb peak and 24 Mb average upload.

Wired switch speed on the RT2600ac was 96 Mb faster peak but both had the same average uploads; this was slower by about 360 Mb than other switches tested. Upload speeds were equal and as good as or slightly better than other switches.

- - - UPDATE

Finally got around to testing additional 5 GHz channels and the ASUS USB-AC68 doesn't work with them. The notebooks with the internal Intel NICs picked up every channel I threw at it. These are the channels the ASUS couldn't handle: 52,56,60,64,100,104,108,112,116,132,136,140

I can imagine those that turn on automagic channel selection (only on few routers that support these channels - not ASUS) and all of a sudden clients stop connecting because of adapters that don't support them.

I'm glad the new router supports these channels since nobody is using them in the area...it will be like 802.11a days again where I was solo for a long while. Time to go notebook shopping so I can get rid of the legacy gear and get an internal Intel NIC. Wish I would have tested this a week ago so I could return the adapter. Guess I'll chuck it in the draw with my 1Mb PCMCIA Wifi adapter after I get a new notebook.

- - - 11/26/17 Update - - -

Gave up on the asus USB-AC68 because of inconsistent performance and lack up any new drivers since May. I'm not holding my breath on any fixes for KRACK for this adapter either. Intel even released updated drivers the day after mainstream word of KRACK for the AC7260 card that was introduced in 2013 and currently EOL.

Oh, and Synology even updated their older RT1900AC (2 years old already) router the day after as well.

Ive been searching for weeks trying to find a good HEPA air purifier for my vehicle since I drive around passengers frequently. I came across the Clearhouse air purifier and was impressed with what it does for the price. I was finding competitors charging more than $40 more, so I consider this a win! When I received the purifier, I was also impressed with the attention to detail, from the quality of the box, to the compact design and the sleek look. I've had several compliments from riders on air quality in the car, said it didn't seem as stuffy and the essential oil option is nice. Its also very quiet, which I like. Have to say, if you're in the market and don't want to pay an arm and a leg, Clearhouse air purifier should definitely be your go to!

Since my gap year in 2004, mangoes have been my favourite fruit - both fresh and dried. Since then, I have tried sooo many types: crystallised, sweetened, unsweetened, air dried...etc.
And so many brands (including, but not limited to):
Forest Whole Foods - tough on the teeth
Forest Feast - very moist and sweet
Urban Fruit - tasty but thin and a small quantity compared to its large packaging.
Good Foods (Aldi) - cost-effective but extremely sweet - doesn’t taste very healthy.

I’ve settled for all of the above brands (and more) for a while but have then moved on.

Happy Belly Mango all the way! I’ve now made what must be my 8th purchase by now, and have subscribed. So far, it wins (for me) on texture, density, taste and the ‘healthy snacking’ feeling. My daughter and husband love it too so I have to keep it hidden!
The downside for me is that the packaging is non-recyclable and non-resealable, but of course you can, as with most materials anything, still use for crafts/keeping other food fresh, etc.
